How one night turned into fifteen and counting is beyond me. I never imagined ending up here. I’m a Marriage Broker, not a matchmaker… Especially for myself! It was always a ruse. Perception, not reality. For a purpose, not for always. Business, not romance.
Born and raised in Southeast Michigan near Ann Arbor, Elle learned the importance of reading from her mother. It was also her mother who, later on in her life, gave Elle her first romance novel: Indigo by Beverly Jenkins. From that moment on, Elle became a fan of Ms. Jenkins for life and a lover of all things romance. An old journal she wrote back in college became her first book (which she still wants to publish one day).
Elle Wright invites us back for another visit with the Young family. If you are keeping up, you remember that the first book ended with a cliffhanger. All sorts of scenarios passed through my mind when Dallas spoke these words "I'm getting married". What would compel the Marriage Broker to use the services she provides to others? So, welcome back to the answers and what transpired in the marriage conundrum.
While Blake and Dallas are not twins, they are alike in personality. Blake being the fighter in the family, while Dallas is the fixer. How will she fix the mess that has landed on her doorstep? I believe you will love the solution. I sure did!
Now Preston Hayes, our hero, has an entirely different story to tell, and it will tug at your heartstrings. Though his journey has been one of pain and feelings of rejection, there was still love in his heart. I so enjoyed Preston's characters and the way the author exposed their hearts. There was no mistake how right they were for each other.
But wait, there is MORE!!!!!! Now it is not my nature to expose spoilers in my review, but BAE...BEE, when I tell you, Elle Wright dropped a bombshell in this one that will have you falling out of your seat. All I am saying is don't say I didn't warn you.
There was so much to love about this book, the storyline, characters, chapter titles, and the visits with previous characters. I highly recommend you take this journey with Dallas Young and Preston Hayes!
This was such a delightful romance! 😍 I really loved the fun banter between the characters. It made for a perfect, light read that helped me clear my mind.
This was a cute book. They had a fake relationship arrangement that quickly turned into the real thing. Dallas and Preston were good together. I’m loving this series.
“Sometimes I wonder what would’ve happened if I’d followed my heart and not my ambition.”
Here we have Dallas who isn’t quite a fan of love. She is more focused on her career than anything else and due to some past experiences she isn’t very open to anything too deep with a man. Enter Preston. A convenient distraction that can potentially serve a purpose toward her next professional accomplishment.
There’s one thing that always alters a ruse - a true connection. Preston has his own set of baggage which Dallas helps him unpack. It all seems so natural and organic that everyone except the two of them could see what was going on.
This is a story of being true to your feelings and allowing yourself to follow them. This is a story of what it means to put down your guard and allow someone in. This is a story of realizing past hurt, silliness, and shenanigans shouldn’t stop one from moving forward and finding happiness.
One thing I know for sure - Elle Wright never disappoints!
Queen Elle Wright has done it again with part 2 to the "Young In Love" series👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾! Preston & Dallas were both closed off to love but, for different reasons. Preston's steamed from childhood trauma caused by his mom. Dallas just felt like the moment she allowed herself to fully submerge in love, she'd lose sight of the goals she's set for herself. And also punishing herself for a love lost😢. Her and Preston both knew they were playing with fire the moment they decided to "fake" a relationship, so idk how the hell they thought they'd be able to keep from falling in love after opening up to safest other and adding that bomb a** sex to the mix🤦🏾😂. They both opened up in ways they never had in the past and freely gave of themselves and fell hard and fast. I wanted to shake the sugar honey ice tea out of Dallas for feeding Preston that bs a** lie and lying to herself about how she truly felt once she realized their relationship got her into the law group. Then him for allowing her to walk knowing she was lying. That talk with her dad did her good and I'm glad she went and got her man😜. I freakin love, love, love the Young family💕. The way they give each other the space to process detain situations but, also hold each other accountable. Their while family dynamic is dope asf, even with the underlying issues with Treston. Another perfect ending to a beautiful friends to forever lovers story💕 Another Must Read🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Really enjoyed this laugh out loud journey that Dallas and Preston found themselves on.
When Maya "read" those phony women, at the luncheon, after they attacked Dallas' reputation, I was so happy. How dare they, with all of the skeletons in their own closets? And her man Preston, showed up right on time!
**ARC provided** It’s Not Love, It’s Business by Elle Wright is about marriage broker Dallas Young and architect Preston Hayes. First and foremost I wanna say this story starts off with a BANGING birthday 😉 Dallas and Preston share a best friend in Cooper but he has recently found love and is moving out of town. This results in Dallas and Preston leaning on each other which would be a great thing if Dallas wasn’t fighting her attraction to Preston. She told herself it would only be once but Preston never agrees to that! The problem gets more difficult when her now married ex pops up on her causing negative press. Bad press is the last thing she needs when her Mentor Maya is trying to get her into an elite group of Black women lawyers. Preston offers to be her fake boyfriend and he’s all for PDA! 😏 Preston is the best fake bf, he listens to Dallas and takes note of what she likes. Preston is thoughtful, sexy, vulnerable and rugged when you get to meet him you’ll understand why a girl like Dallas is running from him. In the midst of all of this Preston is dealing with his own issues; an alcoholic mother and her drunken bombshells! Commitmentphobe Dallas does such an exceptional job supporting Preston through these difficulties. Preston and Dallas have amazing chemistry in every way! This is somewhat of a slow burn but I promise it pays off 😌 The ending is perfect 🥰🥰🥰 Dallas and Preston are my favs!! I can’t wait to see which Young is next to fall in love!!
Dallas was a woman about her business. Her career, her image and her success was everything to her. She wasn’t slowing down on her accomplishments for nothing and nobody. Until one scandal threatened to knock her off her trajectory. Going up somehow turned into her life spiraling down. Preston is a very accomplished entrepreneur and architect. He’s an all around good guy and caring as well. He’s interested in meeting the right woman but he’s dates have been a bust and near misses of catastrophe. These two know each other because they share the same bestie, but have never expressed interest in each other. More like floating around in each other’s orbit. When lines are crossed, sorta friendships are formed, and agreements are made, the lines blur. No touching turns into touching, no kissing turns into kissing, no catching feelings is too late, and it’s just business is out the door. ““I didn’t know love could transform, set free. That’s what you’ve done for me, baby. You gave the dead parts of me new life,” he whispered. “You make me better.” Great read!
Dallas Young is an Attorney who is a marriage broker. She has no interest in matchmaking. Preston Hayes was introduced in the Once Upon a Funeral novella. He’s an architect who owns a construction company with his best friend Cooper Prescott. The title of the first chapter pulled me in right away. Blake kicks off her and her brothers’ Halloween themed birthday bash with a bang and received a heck of a birthday present.
Preston Hayes is Dallas’s “sorta” friend as an extension of her friendship with Cooper. She’s attracted to everything about him. His sexiness tops the list. Besides the fact that Preston thinks Dallas is beautiful, she is honest and he knows he can trust her.
Ms. Wright is a great story teller, which makes the book flow really well. She is able to manage the serious aspects without taking away from the fun tone of the book. To say that there is a surprise in these pages, is an understatement. It’s Not Love, It’s Business, is a fun read, and I highly recommend it. See complete review at Romanceincolor.com.
From the very start of this book Preston and Dallas had me smiling. I laughed each time she would remind him he was touching her. These two were so cute , denying the true attraction they had to one another. The Business agreement they entered into was destined to lead to a great deal more than Dallas could have ever dreamed of 😊.
I enjoyed the book a great deal although it left me with a few questions about about the conflict that was obviously going on Between two of Dallas’s siblings and then there’s the thing with her brother and Demi, her best friend. I also wanted to learn more about Preston and his new found family. The way I look at it this series may very well lead to at least five more books😂😂 that way I may get all the answers I’m looking for. With that being said I’m moving on to Book 3 of the “Young in Love series”
Dallas and Preston What start it off as a one time proposition turned out to be the start of something deeper. Dallas was a businesswoman, and she was all about work. She did not have time for love, and was not ready to entertain it. But because she had goals, she needed someone to help her to be seen in a certain light and Preston was the one she called upon for help. Preston mother was an alcoholic and very toxic towards him. His mother had aPreston mother was an alcoholic and very toxic towards him. His mother had revealed some heartbreaking and distraught news to him, which has shaken the foundation that he had created for himself. My heart felt for him and I was so happy that Dallas stepped in and help mend, what was broken Their story was funny, heartfelt, and well written. Oh I love Dallas family dynamic.
I absolutely loved Dallas' story. The storyline had a mixture of everything including drama! It was a definite page turned that I will read again! The series is off to a great start, you don't disappoint!
I loved the new storyline and enjoyed seeing characters from last series! Dallas is her own woman, she deserved to have her own story.
I have already ordered my paperback copy, this series is one i want for my bookshelf!
Kudos Elle, you have a winner here! For those of you reading this review, i don't like to give anything away, get this series! You won't be disappointed!
Dallas was not who I expected the next book in the series to be about. She and Preston were a pleasant surprise. The appearances of so many characters from other Elle Wright series was just icing on this moist, delicious cake. This book touched on just enough of the past to explain why Preston and Dallas were focused on their professions more than their non work related futures. Their different involvement with their families (initially) was a non issue. Their growth as they shared their personal space was a most pleasant journey making this book easy to read again while excitedly awaiting the next in a hopefully very long series.
It’s Not Love, It’s Business…So Worthy of Being Book No. 25!!
I absolutely loved this book!! Dallas is truly a character who, unknowingly, has met her match in Preston, her “sorta” friend!! I enjoyed the dynamics of the Young family who also kept me in stitches with their antics and different personalities!
All in all, this is an excellent book!! You can’t go wrong with the “Architect Extraordinaire and Marriage Broker!” I highly recommend you grab your copy and enjoy the journey! You will be pleasantly surprised!! Kudos, Elle!! 💜
This story took me on an emotional roller coaster I wanted to stay on.🥴 The Wells twist was something I didn’t see coming but boy did I like it. Wright has a way with crossing over her stories and it’s always done so seamlessly that as a reader all you can is smile when it happens. And the chemistry between Dallas and Preston was muy caliente 🔥🔥🔥. I don’t know how they thought it would stay “business”. In the words of Stewart Young “ Elle Wright hit it outta the park” with this one. 🤣
Loved it! Preston and Dallas had a strong attraction for each other from the start. When they had sex in the bathroom at the birthday party, I knew that wasn’t the end of them. The were both broken people with issues. They may have started out as a fake couple, but ended up in a very real relationship. I’m just glad they worked through their issues. I’m loving this Young series! Thank you Elle!! ❤️🔥
Miss Dallas was not a fan of love ok! She said get that away from me! Lol This book was more serious especially reading about Preston’s life with his mother. These mothers be something else in the book world. Alcoholism is something serious. As. Grown man he still had the weight of all her wrong decisions on his shoulders. Dallas was the one to help in through that and they both healed each other.
Dallas and Preston had some real issues they were holding on to that caused them to keep each other at arms length. It was intriguing riding along as their walls started to crumble and then come crashing down.
There were some nice twists in the story. Also the renewed knowledge that what is seen on the surface is usually far from what is actually going on.
A sweet, steamy, often humorous journey of two people finding love.
I honestly didn’t want this book to end !!! Elle Wright has done it again , I was drawn immediately into the story of Dallas and Preston , who ever said Fake it until you make must had these two characters in mind , this story proves that love can truly heal the heart !! I give this book a five star rating only because 10 wasn’t available.
Excellent read, I loved the characters and storyline. Preston and Dallas are great together. They are a fun and loving couple, their fake relationship turned into true love. It was catching up with the Young family and characters from previous books. I look forward to the next installment.
This is a must read! Elle Wright gave the biggest shocker in this one, and if you are a fan of hers, you will be floored like I was. She’s such a talented writer. Dallas and Preston were perfectly written and it was great to hear from some of the other characters in the EWU (Elle Wright Universe) lol, especially Duke. I can’t wait to read the rest of the Young bunch’s stories.
This continuation of these families, extended families makes so happy. But Dallas is my girl! Sometimes it’s ok to take a step back. Sometimes loving who someone is rather than who you want them to be is perfect and Preston was perfect! I cannot wait for the next story!
I enjoyed reading about Dallas and Preston. Preston is a sweetie who took care of his mother, eventho, she treated him like crap! I loved the chemistry between Dallas and Preston and I feel that everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! I definitely recommend it!
This couple made me laugh and cry. Overcoming the fears we hold close to our hearts are some of the things that prevents us from loving someone. I am in awe how they overcame and learned to love with each other. The family ties are so strong and I love it.
You can't help but root for these two. I did have an issue with Langston and his future mother in law just appearing, threatening then disappear. I absolutely adore the Young family and would love to get Tristans deal but I think he will be last in the series
i loved Dallas and Preston’s relationship. what started as a one night stand transformed into a fake relationship that bloomed into real love. i love a fake relationship trope lol. both preston and dallas had a lot of growth. the character development was there and on point. absolutely a great story!
I really enjoyed this book. I like how Preston was vulnerable and even cried with Dallas. Glad she was able to get over her issue and let him in. Great to catch up with the Young’s.
Sometimes love is already staring you in the face you just need to open your eyes to the possibilities. I loved this story and the journey Preston and Dallas took together ❤ I love to see love win. Can't wait to read about the other Young siblings.
Preston and Dallas the I can do it all by myself couple learned the hard way having someone to love and help you is a good thing. Why Dallas thought she was getting married without family was funny😍
