An organization that has operated in secret for centuries... a mystery that threatens to burn it all to the ground… and she’s the only agent who can stop it…
To the residents and tourists of Galveston Island, Claire Abelard is the friendly young woman who works at the local candy store by day and leads ghost tours of the island’s haunted locations by night. They don’t realize this persona is a cover for Claire’s real job as an agent of the Bureau for Historical Preservation, a clandestine organization that monitors and assists energy projections, or the entities more commonly known as “ghosts.”
When projections begin disappearing from around the island, Claire worries that history may be repeating itself. She launches a dangerous investigation and uncovers a sinister, arcane organization whose agenda threatens not only Galveston’s ghosts, but everything she has worked her whole life to protect.
The truth behind the disappearances rocks Claire’s world to its core and shows her that ghosts aren’t the only things that can come back to haunt you.
Ghost Agents is a genre-defying, cozy paranormal mystery, with a little sci-fi, romance, and Texas history thrown into the mix!
Nita DeBorde is a published author and teacher from Houston, TX. Writing and teaching are her two major passions, though traveling and being dog-mom to a crazy Staffordshire-Boxer mix named Mabel are high on the list as well.
Nita has taught high school French for more than 20 years and absolutely loves her "day job" job (about 95% of the time). She loves to travel, and not surprisingly, France is her favorite destination, though her home state of Texas runs a close second.
She is also a huge history buff, which comes through in her fiction writing, and particularly in her latest novel, Ghost Agents, a genre-defying, cozy paranormal mystery with a little sci-fi and romance thrown into the mix. Ghost Agents: Revelations, the second book in the Ghost Agents Trilogy, is slated for release in march of 2022.

Ghost Agents by Nita DeBorde is not the best book I have ever read but its premise is total unique and very creative. Claire Abelard worked as a tour guide in a historic city, following places which were haunted and doing her level best to give a customers an exciting experience. She also worked in a candy shop. That gave her a sense of normalcy. She worked for the Society for Historical Preservation, which centuries before had discovered that, what people thought of as ghosts, were actually leftover energy signatures that every living thing emanated, but mostly faded away at their deaths. Signatures that didn't fade were known as projections, or to commonplace persons, ghosts. The Society did its best to care for those projections. There were also rogue projections that existed outside the protection of the Society. Right now, rogues were disappearing. While not strictly her problem, Claire was worried about them and vowed to help.
Like any other historic society, there was a hierarchy. Her brother was high up in the Society and although her father had retired, he still consulted. They all descended on Galveston Island after Claire was injured pursuing the case of the missing rogues. In order for this to make sense, one must read the book. The concept is intriguing, to say the least. Claire discovers she is an off-the-charts sensitive, instead of the level 6 she believed herself to be. This put her in a certain amount of danger. She met a ghost hunter whilst doing her job, and was falling for him. She was a high-level sensitive as well and would be recruited by the Society as soon as they were aware of him. And off he'd go. She was not in a hurry for this to happen. Claire's relationship with various projections was interesting. They lived together in harmony despite the fact they game from different eras. Claire lived with three of them that were anchored to her house. It was all very interesting. I am not a believer in ghosts, but was intrigued by this explanation. I like this book.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Ghost Agents by the author through The Review Crew. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #thereviewcrew #nitadeborde #ghostagents
Ghost Agents is a wonderful debut ghost story by Nita DeBorde. The story takes place on Galveston Island in Texas and revolves around Claire Abelard, who works undercover for a secret organization. In her job, she deals with electrical projections of deceased people. Much to Claire’s chagrin, she is tasked with leading a group of ghost hunters on private tours, which leads to an unexpected outcome. When Claire finds out that some projections have disappeared, she takes it upon herself to get to the bottom of the mystery. Things become more complicated when it becomes apparent there is more going on than just projections being targeted. Will Claire be successful in her endeavor to put a stop to any underhanded happenings?
DeBorde has written a story involving paranormal activities that grab readers’ attention from the start and keep them reading until the end. In the story, the author includes an interesting bit of history about the actual locations in Galveston and the hauntings where the ghost tours take place. The characters are endowed with distinctive personalities, and they are convincing in both their behaviors and interactions with each other.
Ghost Agents is a delightful ghost story that is an intermix of a number of things. The author includes a budding romance, intrapersonal challenges, collaborative relationships, shocking incidents, and unexpected twists and turns. Readers also get to see the antics of ghosts, what equipment is used in investigations to detect paranormal activity, and the methods of operations used by secret organizations. In addition, readers are given explanations of abilities individuals possess to become aware of and/or catch sight of ghosts.
Anyone who enjoys this first book in a new series will want to read the upcoming book release of Ghost Agents: Revelations. I look forward to more adventures of Claire Abelard and how she develops as a character as she continues to face internal and external conflicts. The book could use better editing. However, it does not take away from the story’s overall appeal.
Ghost Agents is a supernatural mystery novel that takes place in Galveston, Tx. A young woman by the name of Claire is a strong psychic who can not only see but interact with spirits. She works for the P.I.D. and helps maintain the history of the areas she works in but also helps keep track of the projections/ghosts who call the area their home. But when "rogue" projections start going missing it takes Claire back to San Francisco when it first started. It has happened in other places, too, but can Claire bring things to light this time or will this be the blow that destroys her career if no believes her and refuses to see the truth of what is happening? Ghost Agents is an engaging novel that had me page-turning as the intrigue and mystery is woven from the very first page all the way to the end. I love the variety of projections the author introduces me to. I like that there are those who are protected and then the ones who with to continue to be free. There is some tragedy in this story, but it really adds to the overall element of the story. You get backstory here and there, and you get some of the P.I.D. handbook as well. I will admit I felt the handbook was a bit dull in some of the explanations, but they were definitely informative, so I can't complain too much. I love the variety of personalities from the projections to the living characters. I did find Claire a bit irritating in certain moments. She knows her job, but she starts thinking with her feelings. I get it, but I feel that the childishness towards her brother needed to be put on the backburner. It made her look immature and childish, but he got annoying too when he refused to really start taking things more seriously. All in all, I'd love to read more of these characters in the future. I'm rating this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Ghost Agents is an unusually creative book. This novel can’t be pigeonholed as simply paranormal, cozy, mystery, or suspense. DeBorde has created a highly realistic premise in her storytelling. Claire Abelard is a young agent of a secret, special organization protecting those persons who remain tethered to the world after their deaths. Claire is a many-layered charactered, frustrated with her career, her personal life, yet highly talented, empathetic, and very talented.
Through Claire’s own perceptiveness, other characters emerge with nuanced understanding. The ghosts, known as projections, have their own personal quirks and personal concerns, as do Claire’s living family and colleagues. The story centers around the disappearance of those ghosts known as rogue projections, who declined the protection of the organization Claire of which is an employee. However, Claire holds the respect of the rogues and is approached to help when projections disappear.
The storyline mixes in a sweet romance when a group of internet ghost hunters appears and wants special tours arranged through the ghost tour company that provides a cover for the agents. From there, it’s a fast ride through suspenseful drama, the uncovering of secrets, and finding out who is after the rogues and why. The details developing this amazing world with sensitives, non-sensitives, and ghosts feel believable and real to the reader. My sole disappointment was in finding that the sequel to this book has been delayed from the original expected time. I wanted nothing more than to continue this story once I’d reached the end.
Claire is a high-level sensitive who works for a secret paranormal organization in Galveston, TX as a ghost agent preserving local history. Her cover jobs include leading ghost tours and working in a popular sweet shop on The Strand. Things get dicey when projections, the technical name for ghosts, start to disappear. Claire decides to investigate and finds more than she bargains for. Can she protect the rogue projections from being lost forever?
Ghost Agents is the first in a trilogy of cozy paranormally centered mysteries with a bit of romance that makes for a quick beach read. Being from Houston, only 70 miles from the setting of this Texas novel, I really enjoyed learning more about the local Galveston history. It’s fun to be familiar with many of the buildings and areas where Claire lives and works and DeBorde does a fine job bringing Galveston to life for readers around the globe.
Read this one for a unique ghost story with a bit of history, romance, and intrigue. The next book in the series, Ghost Agents: Revelations, is out now if you can’t wait to see what’s next for Claire!
Nina Deborde has come up with a unique mystery novel. Claire Abelard, the main character, works in a Sweet shop and gives ghost tours in Galveston, TX. Those are just covers for her real job, working with the secret organization, The Bureau for Historical Preservation. Claire is a level 5 sensitive one of the highest levels. Even though the Bureau doesn’t support Rogues, Claire keeps her eyes and ears open for things going on with them. The ghosts that have signed on with the Bureau, inform Claire that something is going on and she decides to check into it. While doing so, she is given the assignment of giving private tours to a ghost investigation group. Little does she know what she is getting into with investigating the missing rogues and giving the private tours.
It was a wonderful read. Different to most other mystery novels. There is a lot going on in this book, including romance, mystery and intrigue. The characters are well thought out. They are easy to get to know quickly and truly enjoyable. The interaction between Claire and the ghosts are fun. Throughout the book are some interesting thoughts about ghosts. This book is really a good read and I hope to see more from this series.
This book has everything - a cozy paranormal mystery, a bit of sci-fi, suspense, romance, laugh-out-loud moments, Galveston history - and completely captivated me from the beginning and kept me totally involved in all that was happening until I finished the book. I loved Claire Abelard who works at a candy store during the day and leads ghost tours of the island's haunted locations at night. This is the perfect start to the Ghost Agents Trilogy by new-to-me author Nita DeBorde and I can hardly wait to see what happens next in Galveston with Claire and the gang. I received an advance reader copy of Ghost Agents and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This book turned out to be a surprise read for me. I was drawn to it by the concept of the story but still had no judgements about what I was getting myself into with this book. Well, I am happy to report that I got an intriguing story with very engaging characters. Claire is a great main protagonist.
I could feel Claire's connect with the poltergeist and that they weren't just wandering spirits. Some of them helped Claire. So, when they started going missing, I felt sorrow and a strong need to solve the case as much as Claire. This book was a fast read for me and I can't wait to read book two.
Ghost Agents is a paranormal adventure that sucks you in and you have to keep turning the pages to find out what happens next. The concept of keeping history through every possible means is captivating. I found the characters both living and dead to be enthralling and hope Ms. DeBorde continues to develop all of them. I like the idea of people being able to interact with those who have passed before them and being able to receive help and guidance from those who might know more than they do. Anyone who like paranormal mysteries with a touch of romance will enjoy Ghost Agents. I am looking forward to more in the series.
This is a different type of book for me which I found refreshing. We have all I'm sure wondered about ghosts and what they would do if they indeed do exist. Claire Abelard is an agent for the Bureau of Historical Preservation> They strive to keep history alive through the energy projections or "ghosts". By day she works in a local candy store and in the evening gives ghost tours in Galveston, Texas. This plus living in a historical house with energy projections allows here to keep in touch with the happenings amoung them. When they start going missing she is called on by the Bureau to find out what is happening. It is a well written read and does leave you waiting for the next book.
This is the first book that I have read by this author, and I will be reading more. I found this to be a fast and compelling read. There is enough suspense and mystery to keep you interested in this story. I enjoyed the setting and the plot.
I have wondered about Ghosts and why some haunt a location/home and just ghosts in general. This is a very entertaining story about ghosts in a direction that I never would of thought of - a secret society that monitors certain ghosts. The characters are wonderful and the location is interesting. I think that this could be possible because otherwise how would we know some facts of what happened so long ago.... I hope that the author makes a series on this story - because I will definitely will read it!
Can you believe that I, scaridy cat, Elza, is actually reviewing a book about ghosts? You know my Mommy loves a good ghost story, but come Halloween, my big brother Stinkie has to take over the blog. I am way to busy hiding under the bed and in the washing basket.
But this was something different! I actually loved these ghosts. Ahmmm, sorry - projections. Nowhere in the book do they mention what these projections will think of me, but I believe not even a ghost can resist my charms. These ghosts are fun and we chuckled at "the girls" more than once.
Thelma whirled around to face her. "We're dead! Nobody cares about what's proper or improper anymore!"
Step aside Ghost Busters - it's time for the Bureau of Historical Preservation. As there name states, they are not here to bust the ghosts' assess, oh no. They are here to safe the assess. I am not going to go into all the scientific details around this, you have to read the book for those. I don't think you have to read the complete A Concise Accounting of the Conservancy of Energy-based Metaphysical and Transcendental Entities: A History of the Bureau for Historical Preservation (1680 - 1973), but the summaries you receive freely in the novel, will provide adequate information.
Claire Abelard is a ghost agent and a ghost tour host. The one is undercover, the other one is only under the cover of darkness. Claire is based in Galveston, Texas. A city island where you can bump into a ghost around every corner. If you are scared of things that go bump in the night, avoid this city. But if you would prefer to make contact with the other side, go and book your ghost tour!
I think that was probably what my Mommy enjoyed most about this book - all the lovely historical accuracies (she never knew any of it before reading this book, but Google is on a first name basis with us) and did you know that the ghost tours are actually real??
If you look on Tripadvisor, you will see the whole schedule and so many places and ghosts mentioned in the book, are real tourist attractions. Not that we would fly all that way just for that. Reading the book here, is more than enough for me.
Photo from Tripadvisor
But the book is not about the ghost tours. Although meeting another sensitive (people with cat-like abilities. AKA, seeing and talking to ghosts) on a private ghost tour, does provide the romantic elements in this story and I think it's part of the way forward with this series as well.
The story is about projections disappearing. Yes, I know ghosts are really brilliant with pulling a disappearing act and then reappearing just as you want to go to sleep. But this is different. These projections are not disappearing out of their own free will and they are gone for good. Deader than dead thus.
As with most Bureau's and Secret Agencies, conspiracy theories are at the order of the day and someone is not to be trusted....
This was a fun and enjoyable supernatural book and I am rather curious to see what will happen in the next installment. Apparently we don't have to wait too long as Ghost Agents: Revelations are coming in March 2022!
Claire Abelard works as a candy store clerk on Galveston Island, off from the coast of Texas, but she does a lot more in her life than pulling taffy and fillings bags of sweets for her customers. She also leads ghost tours on the island by night but these two positions are just a cover for her real job. Claire's real job is working as an agent for the Bureau for Historical Preservation, a clandestine organization that "monitors and assists energy projections, or entities more commonly known as ghosts." But, there is another secret covert organization lurking around that wants to "dispatch" or kill these energy projections and Claire is hoping to stop this from happening. The problem is; the Bureau questions if this other nefarious organization even exists and Claire has to try and convince them, even though some of the agents are her family. She soon learns that she's the only one who has the ability to stop the disappearances that have already claimed several of the beloved projections on the island.
This story will remind you a bit of the Ghost Whisperer, with adorable, likable and humorous projections that Claire has the pleasure of being a roommate of. These three ghostly girls offer motherly and other kinds of assertive advice that had me giggling with enjoyment. Claire is also teased by the projections and her co-workers when she weighs whether or not to date a good looking ghost hunter who has come to town with his group.
These fun and favorable plot lines continue to about the middle of the book when things begin to pick up on a much more serious note. This is when several of the story's conflicts begin to evolve, which finally addressed the scene in the prologue of the book, which did a fantastic job in hooking me into reading Ghost Agents. I was very intrigued with how the author explained the in-depth science and history behind The Bureau and it had me considering if much of the explanations could be applied to real life ghost hunting and what we might really be dealing with.
This is the first installment of a series of books for Ghost Agents and this story is a keeper. It will amuse and it will also provide history, mystery, romance and a desire to keep reading about these wonderful and interesting characters. I loved it!
Nita writes in such a way that it was easy to follow the storyline. Her writing style wasn’t scattered or long-winded. I become committed to the story very quickly as I enjoyed the storyline and wanted to see what happens next. As I said, I enjoyed the storyline immensely and that was because it’s not often done the way that Nita wrote it. Her take on ghosts was an interesting and scientific way of looking at it. The mystery and intrigue had me hooked and I read the book in two nights. I don’t usually enjoy history but it was interesting when it was linked to a projection. I was a little confused about how Claire kept getting overpowered and that she couldn’t fight back. She had previously said that she could protect herself because they get taught that at the Bureau which means Isabel should also have been able to and yet they couldn’t? The story kept me guessing right through but the whole thing with Peter and Aaron…I called that. The rest of the story kept me on the edge of my seat. I’m really glad that Drew is who he is and not who I thought he might have been (haha, trying not to give spoiler alerts here). The world that the author created was interesting and had interesting historical tidbits which helped me to delve into their world. The Protagonist, Claire, was irresponsible and thoughtless and often put herself in danger without properly thinking things through. She eventually started irritating me with her stupidity and I wanted to smack her upside the head a few times. The dialogue was easy to read and follow. I enjoyed all the characters that made an appearance, even the ‘ghosts’ were unique with interesting personalities. They each seemed to have their own types of personalities and Nita portrayed them beautifully. I felt invested in the story of saving the rogues and read with keen interest to see if they are saved. This is book 1 in a trilogy series. Book 2 is said to be coming out in March 2022. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes these genres. It was a good read and I will love to read book 2.
Mystery, intrigue, suspense, paranormal activity, humor, romance. . . this book has it all. There is something for everyone in DeBorde’s Ghost Agents.
Set in Galveston, Texas this book is full of rich history and heart. The story is compelling, believable, and flows nicely. The pace is just right, the plot develops in an organic way, and the events unfold in a natural fashion.
DeBorde has created a “world”(read: secret organization) that is so detailed and fleshed-out that it is easy to image it actually exists. Mixed with the rich history of Galveston and it’s ghost legends, this combines to create a setting that is dynamic and interesting. The environment becomes a true story element that is just as important as the characters. It draws the reader right in and sets the stage for the events in this book.
Setting and storyline aside, what really makes a book is character development. DeBorde has done a great job of creating characters that are dynamic, relatable, well fleshed-out, and easy to connect with. Even the projections(ghosts) are developed in a way that makes the reader feel a sense of camaraderie with them. The dialogue is witty, fun, and laugh-out-loud funny at times. The relationship development between Claire and her family, her projections, and even Drew is thoughtfully crafted and connects with readers.
The intrigue and mystery elements are interesting enough to satisfy readers looking for thrills and suspense, but light enough for those that may not enjoy a heart-racing, anxiety inducing read. There is a resolution at the end of this book, so as not to have a cliffhanger, but the overarching storyline has been developed in a way that leaves the reader wanting more.
All in all, Ghost Agents is a great read. Highly recommend.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Emphasis on HONEST. I even bought a kindle version because I enjoyed it so much.*
Ghost Agents follows the story of Claire Abelard, a young woman who takes an unassuming job as a cover for her real work as an agent of the Bureau for Historical Preservation that monitors paranormal activity. When ghosts start to disappear, Claire launches an investigation that uncovers a dangerous organization that threatens everything she has worked for.
The author does an incredible job developing and describing the projections, which are also known as ghosts. Each ghost had their own personality that made them likeable rather than scary. Claire’s ghost roommates are witty and charming and bring so much life to the story. The interaction between the ghosts and Claire makes the story much more intriguing; which reminds of Bob the skull in the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher. I wanted to hear the advice that the ghosts had for Claire, making this book hard to put down.
The author’s descriptions of the Bureau are so vivid that readers are immediately immersed in Claire’s intriguing world. Author Nita Deborde’s writing is sharp and the story flows smoothly, ensuring easy reading no matter where you stop and pick up the book again. The plot is compelling and has a nice balance of humor and romance along with a thrilling mystery at its core. I was surprised by the historical elements that color this novel and teach readers about the town of Galveston, Texas. So, expect to be entertained and educated along the way.
Ghost Agents superbly blends elements of various genre’s into a unique story that I found to be absolutely enchanting. I really enjoyed the way in which Nita Deborde combines comedic characters and historical elements into a captivating plot while making all of it seem so effortless and feel so entertaining. Readers who enjoy paranormal thrillers will find plenty to dive into in this alluring supernatural mystery.
This is such an interesting concept! As someone who is casually interested in the paranormal, I was excited to pick this up even though I’m not usually a mystery reader. I love Claire and her determination to do what’s right and help the projections. I do want to know more about her backstory, but more did come out towards the end of the book and this is the first installment in a trilogy, so I am excited to see what else we learn about her. I also really like Drew and I love that his relationship with Claire develops so realistically, but doesn’t overshadow the main plot.
The projections are all so interesting as well and I enjoyed the mix in of actual Galveston history. Even though they are ghosts, they are just as fleshed out as the living characters and I love how deeply Claire connects with them.
There were definitely some parts of the mystery I saw coming and some that I definitely did not, which made for an overall enjoyable read. There is just enough intrigue and suspense to keep it interesting without ruining the cozy mystery vibe.

Review: Story: I am not sure what I thought going into this book. I knew there would be ghosts involved in some way. I guess I thought it would be about people who could see ghosts and helped them move on. Kind of like Medium and that one show with Jennifer Love Hewitt. I was partially right. Not fully though. Characters: The main character is an agent that specializes in ghosts. She’s on thin ice with the higher ups because she went rogue in the past and they don’t think they can trust her not to do it again. They seem to prefer robotic agents over passionate ones. Critiques: None that I can think of. Final Thoughts: At first, I didn’t think I’d really like it. It did have a bit of a slow start. I decided to stick with it. While I didn’t like the story itself, I found the main character to be very quirky. She’s the reason I gave it a chance. I’m glad I did. I can’t wait to read the next two books.
This is an "oh-no" book. I really don't need a new author, and now I have a new favorite to add to the list. Nita does an amazing job of immersing me in her "projections" world, and I really hated to see it end AND know that I have to wait for book #2. Yes, it is on pre-order.
Claire Abelard, an agent of the Bureau for Historical Preservation, a clandestine organization that monitors and assists energy projections, or the entities more commonly known as “ghosts”, has found herself reassigned to Galveston, TX, after she had a horrible experience in San Francisco 5 years earlier. She still had her job because her brother Zach is head of the Bureau, but she feels that she has to somehow atone for that incident, and feels very alone when she is faced with a similar problem in Galveston.
Her job keeps her from making friends easily since it must be kept top secret, and when a ghost hunter comes into her life, she has to force herself to keep from reaching out to him.
This is a great mystery/light romance and I can't wait for the next book.
Several years ago my daughter got married in the ballroom of the Hotel Galvez. In the process of hosting a wedding there (and it is a fabulous venue, if you're ever looking for one in the Galveston area!) we learned a bit about the haunted history of the hotel. It made me want to go on one of those ghost tours, but I never got around to it. Now, having read this book, I feel like I don't need to anymore. No tour could be so exciting. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but after a sort of slow beginning, it winds up being a real page turner as you try to figure out who did it and why. And in the end, the why is more shocking than the who!
I wouldn't normally call myself a paranormal fan, but I absolutely enjoyed this book! It had a little bit of everything...mystery, humor, romance, and the paranormal all wrapped up in one story! I really liked what I felt was a unique take on a secret organization.
As a resident of the Texas Gulf Coast, I enjoyed the accurate history and highlights of Galveston, TX. I took many of the tours mentioned in the book with my family as a child and was reminded of them due to the details and history included in the storyline.
Great opening to a new series - read in a day, it kept me that obsessed! Claire works for the Bureau - and registered projections. She gives tours of haunted locations - keeping the history alive, giving the projections purpose. While at her day job, Claire meets ghost hunter. Committed to giving private tours, Claire becomes entwined with Drew - another high level sensitive. Working to find answers for the rogues disappearing, Claire manages to bring her family together, build a relationship with Drew and interact with many projections. The projections were definitely my favorite!
Ghost Agents by Nita DeBorde . Claire Abelard is a friend young woman who works at the candy store by day and in the evening leads “ghost tours” to the haunted lovations on Galveston Island. But in reality she actually works for a secret organization that protects a very specific history of the worlds.. . What I liked: -I love books that are genre bending and don’t fit the molds, and this one really knocked it out of the park! It was part sci-fi, part mystery, with secret agents, and family drama plus romance sprinkled in. I loved that! -I loved all the “ghosts”. -I was thoroughly intrigued by the mystery in this book. I needed to know what was going on and who was behind everything. -I am excited that this is a series and looking forward to the next book that (according to Goodreads) may be available later on this month! .
I didn't know what to think about this book going into it but I was pleasantly surprised and ended up loving it. It gave me Ghost Whisperer mixed with Ghost Adventures vibes.
I loved the characters so much especially Claire, Thelma, April and Sarah. I couldn't help but fly through it within a day I was hooked on this one.
Completely different from anything I’ve read. I really enjoyed the twists and turns. Native Texan here from the greater Houston area and love Galveston. So it was really neat to read a book placed on the island as well as incorporate so much of the rich history. I actually picked up this book at the bookstore on the Strand and am making a trip there tomorrow to get the next in the series!
I’m typically not a fan of “ghost stories,” which is fine because this isn’t one. A clever blend of mystery, history fiction, sci-fi, and a hint of romance and family drama make this a book with broad appeal. It’s unexpected turns keep the story moving forward. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
You had me at “ghost.” I am, and always have been intrigued by ghosts, but this isn’t your typical ghost story. There is a secret Bureau that helps protect “projections” and their history. But when a group comes in and tries to harm certain ghosts in Galveston, the Bureau is on high alert.
This was such an easy read that flowed, and kept my interest the entire time with ghosts, ghost hunting, family, friends, mystery, and love.
