Men of Rocky Mountain #3

Always Be My Forever

Rate this book
I was eight years old when I fell in love with August Belmore.
Eighteen the first time our lips touched.
Thirty-three when I became the bastard that broke her heart.

The trail of my fingertips across her warm skin.
Secret rendezvous in my truck.
My name tumbling from her lips.
Now, I’m only left with the haunting memories of what could have been.

Just one more touch, one more taste—but it was never enough.
She wasn’t just a drug, she was an addiction that I didn’t want to get over.

We’ve done this flirting dance for years.
But every time we crossed the line, I left no trace of ever being there.

Trust me, it wasn’t the passion and desire we couldn’t get right, we nailed that down over and over again.
It was everything in between, all the important stuff.

But somewhere between stolen kisses in parking lots and drunken confessions about the things we wanted to do to each other…I became consumed with the lie that she’d always be there.

That this fantasy we’d built wouldn’t crumble.

By the time I realize what’s been in front of me this entire time, it’s too late.
Another man’s ring is on her finger.
And I’m left waking up to my worst nightmare—that I’ve lost her forever.

This book was just okay for me.

Remi and August have been in love with each other since they were 15 years old but have never told each other how they feel. They are now in their 30’s and have been holding onto these secret feelings for that long. They end up sleeping together, but both make it seem like it means nothing and was just a hookup, and each get more and more upset that the other doesn’t feel the same way. Except that they do. What do they actually end up doing? Dating other people. Yep, totally makes sense, right? Most of the story is them being mad at or awkward around each other.

I really wanted to love this story, because when these two were together? Wow! Sexy, steamy, and downright spicy! But for the majority of the time I just kept thinking “well, you could just tell each other how you feel?”.

You have to read about these best friends!

I got to this as part of ARC & it was amazing!! Remi & August though!?! Both afraid of their feelings for each other, my goodness! This book made me laugh so many times with these two trying to work thru things & had so many twists! Alexis has definitely done great work again!!!

Always Be My Forever is the third book in Alexis Winter's Men of Rocky Mountain series but it's also the one that I have been dying for Remi and August to get together since the very first book. This book can be enjoyed as a stand alone but if you have read the previous books as well as her Grand Lake series or Slade Brothers series you will recognize many of the secondary characters.

August and Remi are absolute fire! They may have been best friends since they were only 14 but they've secretly in love with each other for just as long and the power of their connection and feelings is present through all of their interactions even as young 18 year old kids. I feel like Alexis' books always pack some heat to them but my goodness- there is fire jumping off these pages from the very beginning. A lot of times with a best friends to lovers story, the progression of their romantic storyline is a long slow burn- but with this book they have spurts of intimacy and then are left trying to navigate on how each other feels and whether it was a mistake.

As a reader of course I'm probably feeling like their friends and wanting to just yell at each of them to just say how they really feel- their back and forth playing things off like they didn't break each others hearts constantly broke my own heart. Remi always seemed quick to the punch in trying to protect his own heart that he always ended up hurting August and even his own heart more in the process. August wasn't really herself when trying a new relationship to move on from Remi- but it was one of the catalysts that finally drove Remi to man up so I couldn't be too mad at it!

I was so enthralled with this book that I literally sat down to read a couple chapters and the next thing I know I'm finishing the epilogue. Always Be My Forever had it all- I laughed, I got crushed, I felt the heat, I gasped and I swooned... and now I need a reunion book so I know where all these characters are a few years down the road or maybe a book for Ryder, the Thor look-a-like fire chief!

I absolutely love this book, it is by far the best friends to lovers book I have read.

I have been waiting for Remi and August's story for a while and I have to say I was not disappointed in the slightest, I laughed, cried, got a little angry and a little heartbroken, It was the perfect emotional rollercoaster.

This books shows a good example of how communication is important in any type of relationship you have. no matter how close you and the other person are. Even though Remi and August talk everyday like bestfriends usually do, they feel they can't take the risk and tell each other how they feel as they are scared the other might not feel the same way and then their lifelong friendship is over and they can't bare the thought of that. The miscommunication leads to them saying the wrong things, jealousy, making mistakes and dating other people hoping to find love they both long for else where.

Alexis drags you in and makes you feel every heart wrenching emotion that Remi and August feels. I had a hard time putting this book down for the simple fact that I needed to know what was gonna happen next and praying tp god that they get their happy ever after. I was nervous for a bit as I honestly didn't think it was gonna happen.

I liked it. I didn’t love it. I can’t stand the ~miscommunications and people not speaking their damn minds. This book could’ve been 200 pages shorter had the main characters just pulled their heads out of their butts and COMMUNICATED. Let’s also discuss Grant - HA! What a douche canoe. No thanks. The writing was great and I did like the story, which is why I continued this one instead of DNF’ing it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

edit: just found out Grant is the lead in the next book? Sorry Leigh, imma have to sit this one out bb girl. 😘

As much as I like Alexis Winter, this for me was not one of my favorites. I have never wanted to smack 2 characters more. August and Remy are suppose to be best friends but use each other as FWB, but often when Remy is drunk. I just had a hard time tying all this into best friends to lovers, to more. But you can decide for yourself, you can read it for FREE with your KU subscription.

Always Be My Forever

Another 3 star for me. This couple drove me nuts. How do you be in love with someone for 15 years and not say anything! And the back n forth, so many things could have been different with the right approach but both characters are very selfish. Had to at least finish it because I can’t physically not finish a story, but not too happy with the end either. The beginning of this series was great but then it crashed!

Always Be My Forever the third book in the Men of Rocky Mountain series by Alexis Winter is told through dual perspective by Remington ‘Remi’ Frederick and August Elaine Belmore.

While the story was similar to A Second Chance at Forever with the trope of Best Friends to Lovers and the similarity of what the characters face up to. At the same time, it felt like the most different in terms of the way the narrative went down compared to the previous stories IMO.
This story took you on a journey that felt like being on a Tilt a Whirl given the fact that a majority of the narrative, if not all had it going around in constant circles. While it had the usual drama and intense tension given the build up of suspense surrounding the path August and Remi went down with their actions and words. Only to lead to a rainfall of emotions and feelings pouring down alongside the angst from the decisions that were a result of what they were feeling. Something that I always enjoyed when it comes to Alexis Winter’s stories. However that didn’t stop it from feeling like you were reading the same occurring thing in both perspectives, but just switched up a little here and there due the results that came about at times.

Honestly given everything that August and Remi did and said with their actions and words throughout the story, they had me frustrated for a majority of the story. While there were times I was rooting for August and Demi, at the same time I was frustrated with both of them individually too. So much so that I honestly wanted to smack them to make them see some sense. Which was both a good and bad thing, since it had me falling deeper down the abyss that was their story. While I get they were worried about the survival of their friendship, I couldn’t help but wish they would have enough faith in their relationship to already take the leap of faith needed to try to move forward as one.
Considering that August and Remi claimed they were Best Friends, you would think they would be able to settle their issues easily enough by talking it out and come together finally. But no, they decided it was better and easier to just go around in constant circles instead with walking on egg shells around each other. Instead of confronting each other and the truth that is staring at them right in their faces. Then again there wouldn’t have been a story if they didn’t have their constant back and forth, pushing and pulling to make them realise and see everything once and for all. Considering it was obvious alone in their chemistry, that was always sparkling bright like sparklers whenever they came together, whether it be in the heat of the moment in fulfilling their sexual needs with each other. Or be together to just hang and out chill. It was always clear no doubt they were meant to be endgame, even if they didn’t realise it or were too scared to admit it.

While Always Be My Forever may have been my least favourite read from the Men of Rocky Mountain series. That didn't mean I didn’t still enjoy it overall, because I did. And I look forward to see whose story Alexis Winter will write next in the series.

This book had me feeling all the feelings: happy, sad, mad, completely irritated, and finally warm and fuzzy and satisfied. It was an emotional rollercoaster, and I was a mess! Having said that, I cannot even begin to express how much I absolutely loved this book!

Remi and August have been friends since they were kids and in love with each other pretty much the entire time. Do they know they have the same feelings? Nope. What fun would that be? Instead, they’ve shared moments here and there over the years, and they both continued to write those times off and never confront one another about what it all meant. Their lack of communication, self-doubt, and fears left them both in anguish. Always Be My Forever is the story of Remi and August navigating years of friendship and their mutually believed unrequited love. It’s equal parts heartbreaking and sexy and romantic.

These two! I was frustrated with both Remi and August so many times throughout this book that I literally had to put it down. They kept making me sad and then hopeful and then back to sad before finally giving me what I wanted. I loved both so much and needed them to realize they loved each other too, and I found myself emotionally invested in them. They are definitely my new favorite Alexis Winter couple. And while I kept putting the book down, I’d pick it right back up a minute later. It was absolutely addictive, and I read it less than a day. I was stunned with how many emotions this book brought out in me, and I mean that in the best way possible. A book must elicit a reaction to really be considered “good” to me, and this book? It’s beyond good and an absolute must read.

Always Be My Forever is well written and perfectly paced. The story spans a couple decades, but it never drags or leaves you wondering why it jumped from here to there. It’s a bit of a pet peeve of mine when a book goes from something in the past to present day with no explanation and no breadcrumbs leading the reader to a better understanding of why the story picks up where it does. Winter did a fantastic job giving us enough of a backstory to totally understand the characters’ motivations and their relationship.

Remi and August’s story is hands down the best romance I think I’ve read this year. It had so much emotion in its pages, and from start to finish it was beautifully heart-wrenching and addicting.

I am loving the "Men of Rocky Mountain" series and this standalone story is no exception.
The concept of this story is an old one, best friends not wanting to loose their friendship by stating their love, but this story is beautifully told by Alexis Winter.
When August and Remi were lying in the back of Remi's Chevy Silverado, in their special place, the night before August was to leave Grand Lake for the University of Michigan, little did they know what awaited them. Remi was sure that when August had her degree and a taste of city life she wouldn't return..........but she did, Grand Lake was her home, her family and friends were here but most importantly, so was Remi.
These two were like magnets drawn to each other but the poles were always apart, neither wanted to declare their love in case they lost their friendship. Women were drawn to Remi and he played the field but his heart was always with August, August dated, she even became engaged to a glamorous doctor but could she forget the nights that she spent in Remi's arms ?
Alexis Winter manages to pull you through a whole gamut of emotions, in fact at times I was an emotional wreck and wanted to bash their heads together and say "just talk". The chemistry between them is off the chart, can they both see what everyone else can see before it's too late ? all their family and friends were getting married and August's time clock was ticking.
A really enjoyable, if not frustrating at times, story.

Alexis brought out all the feels with this book. I was so mad at her for making me feel so much throughout this book. If you love friends to lovers then you are going to go crazy for this one! This was a friends to lovers and a bit of a second chance romance that spans throughout quite a few years.

August and Remi have been best friends forever while secretly in love with each other. I loved seeing the connection they had when they were younger just as much as when they were adults. This book took us on a journey that had some pretty intense moments and some very spicy love scenes! I loved the way the story unravelled with moments here and there where something happens between them but then there is always something that pulls them apart. Remi is terrified of losing August, which is part of why he has kept his feelings secret, but when they both end up in pretty serious relationships he fears he may have already lost her.

“You’re mine August, you’ve always been mine.”

Much of their issues could have been fixed if they would have just communicated what their intimacy meant to them but it made the story intense and emotional. It was breaking my heart every time they pulled away from each other. I love a book that brings me right into the story and makes me feel like I am a part of it. It will make you feel all the emotions and you will most likely yell at your book/kindle. This is definitely a favorite of Alexis’ books. Phenomenal writing!

Not admitting their feeling they almost ruined any chance at a future.
by Shaidh

You know a story is great when it stirs real emotion in someone reading it. This was one such story. I was so frustrated with both the main characters. It was very obvious to EVERYONE how they felt about one another but for some reason neither could actually come out and say anything! They were best friends since they were 14, they were inseparable and everyone thought they'd end up together. They also thought they'd end up together but since neither actually said anything they kept dancing around it. Even after having a couple of "more than friends" encounters they never had the "what does this mean" talk.

Then they tried so hard to prove they weren't it for each other. They pushed apart and each tried to find happiness with someone else. It took their respective partners pointing out how obvious it was where their hearts really lie for them to actually come together. Then they almost threw it away again. I think at this point I might have contemplated throwing my kindle against a wall. (I didn't.)

There is a happy ending at the end, a very deserved happy ending that could have happened so much sooner.

BFFs who find it hard to admit their true feelings for and to one another…passionate and delicious!
How much will 33yo August give up for marriage, babies and a white picket fence? Remi, also 33yo, has said that he’d commit to one person when he meets his forever person which meant to August that she must not be that forever person. They had been friends since they were teens! They do love one another but both are afraid to lose the other as their BFF by sharing that feeling so life goes on…until first Leigh and then Grant come to town. BAM! Grant sets things in motion that propel this story to be so much better than I expected.
This is one very poignant, steamy and emotion-stirring book. I couldn’t put it down. Lots of steam people – LOTS of steam. This author can write some of the most arousing scenes. Sad in places like when August goes to Remi’s house but he has “company” over. Also poignant like Remi’s speech to Grant. Fun getting an update on other couples met through the Slade Brothers and other books by Ms. Winter. Overall, I loved this book. I volunteered to review an ARC through Booksprout and I highly recommend it for readers of steamy friends-to-lovers stories. LOVED the cover! Yum...

So, read this book if you love, love and be ready to fall head over hills in love with these characters; but most likely, you are going to LOVE Remi. The writing in this book is beyond the best of the series. Or, at least I think I feel that way. I love these stories in this massive series of tales and I may have to go back and read the ones before this one to remember the details. The way the friendship between these two are described is beautiful and Remi's feelings about August is just as beautiful. The story was just so meaningful as it relates to how true friendship is and how individuals should view each other when they have committed to being someones "best friend". And despite the fact that many details in romance novels are obvious "yeah, okay, right" situations, this felt and seems so genuine and relatable. It will make you feel like you really know these people and was involved in their life somehow. I love that beause it doesn't happen often. And the "Epilogue", I'm done!! That last sentence in the book, my heart still feels it. The best writing in a story for me this month (September). That may not seem like a big deal but I read a new book every couple/few days. I love this story.

Always be My Forever by Alexis Winter was a coming-of-age childhood romance that turns into forever love. Friendship turns to more one night that took place before leaving for college. Their attraction begins with a kiss and ends with an explosive passion that sears both hearts. From that moment on, their hearts become hopelessly entangled together. Both Remy and August fall in love with each other but turns into unrequited love since neither tells the other about their true feelings. August wants to be FWB, but Remy only seems to show up when he has been drinking. They both must discover if each can move on and fall in love with other people? Will August and Remy find love and happiness together or separately? Will either one see what everyone else sees when they look at each other? How will they finally find their HEA? Alexis Winter does give August and Remy a HEA. The action moved a little slow, and the characters stayed in their heads a bit much. Otherwise, it is a wonderful romance that I did enjoy. She is an author new to me, but this book was so good, that I want to go back and read the books that come before this one in her Forever Love series.

I received this ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Firstly, I would like to thank Alexis Winter for this book Always Be My Forever (Men of Rocky Mountain series) which is Remington (Remi) and August’s book.

I hope I don’t give any spoilers lol!!!
So if you’ve read the blurb you know what this story is about if not get on with it and grab a copy you won’t be disappointed at all.

I abso- freaking- lutely loved loved this series and this third book in the series (as I’ve loved them all so far). And I may be dreaming but I think and I’m pretty sure this one gave me the most heartache and I was screaming at them to get their sh*t together and work it out. I was glued to my phone/kindle until I could let out a sigh of relief when I finished reading the last sentence.

You will just need to get this book to find out what these two friends get up to, hmmmmm…..

Hint hint Alexis I would really love a bonus epilogue to find out what happens next 🥰

Otherwise I can’t wait to read the stories for the two resident Thor lookalikes Ryder the Fire Chief, and Grant the Doctor. Also, maybe a book for Leigh - Could she possibly hook up with our Fire Chief and/or our Doctor?!

Always Be My Forever is the 3rd book in the Men of Rocky Mountain series and can be read as a standalone. It features Remi and August who have been friends since they were kids. They spend the night together the day before August leaves for University. August dismisses it as a mistake and Remi agrees despite feeling the total opposite but thinking she will start a new life away from home he keeps quiet. And so this continues throughout their lives. Both Remi and August have feelings for each other but continue to dance around each other not wanting to spoil their friendship.
Another great story in this series. Remi and August were frustrating with their will they won't they but eventually gave me what I was wanting. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but I loved it. It was very well written and I enjoyed reading both the past and present of the characters as it gave a good insight into the characters. I've loved the Men of Rocky Mountain series so far and this is just as great as the others in the series.

4.5 Steam filled stars!
This is the third book in the series. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the series in order since the characters appear in multiple books.
August and Remy have been best friends since they were young teens. They fell for one another but didn’t confess how they felt. That is basically what leads them into the present and is the biggest contributing factor in their story. Not how they feel, but their lack of communication!
Don’t get me wrong, I loved this story, but they went through a lot because they didn’t communicate! Which shouldn’t have been an issue if they were best friends. But…fear of change and losing what you have is what motivates many to keep quite.
The chemistry, which feels too tame a word to describe what is between August and Remy, is sizzling! I just wished they weren’t so in their own heads.

This was another great read by one of my favourite authors, Ms Alexis Winter. A beautiful story of young love between Remi and August that unfortunately never developed into a full blown romance. Many years later they hook up on several occasions but both are too afraid to reveal their true feelings for fear it will not be reciprocated. These two had me screaming at my kindle on a few occasions because they are both stubborn and hopelessly in love but neither is able to see what is right in front of their eyes. Ms Winter is the queen of rom-com in my book and this is another great book in this series that has given us some wonderful characters, and a few old characters from previous books, and an, at times, emotional story of second chance love. Loved everything about this book but I loved that as best friends, Remi and August, were a perfect couple and in time they knew that they were meant to be together. This series is a must read.

English & Spanish Opinion

🇺🇸 I enjoyed many aspects of the book, like the sexual like of both characters. It makes sense with their age and it’s realistic. The sexy talk is good and Remi and August are best friends who have been in love with each other but the time is never right.

Some scenes felt longer than necessary and I must confess I skipped some. Grant was a weird character but maybe if he gets his book, we could understand him better. The HEA is lovely.

Loved reading August & Remi's will they won't they love story who gave both loved each other since they were 14 yrs old but neither willing to tell the other. I just wanted to shout at them especially when he started seeing Leigh & felt sorry for August but then annoyed with Remi for being with her when I desperately wanted him to get together with August but then when Grant came along it seemed everything was over between them especially their friendship. This story was quite emotional at times but also had great characters both parents & the amazing friends they shared who could see that they had both lived each other since they were young & they were also hoping for a happy ever after for them together not with other people although they wouldn't say it to them.
Once I started reading their story I couldn't stop I loved it so much.

This book was so good! But, Remi did get on my nerves more times than not. His insecurities were like a nagging gnat. August was just as annoying when she couldn't just speak up about her feelings.
I am still a bit salty, but these two were stabbing my heart and tearing me up inside.
Regardless, the story had a HEA and I am happy for the crazy, happy couple.

Another great read in this series that has all the feels! I knew this one was going to be crazy but I was still so excited to read it. It’s friends to lovers and second/third/forth/millionth chance romance lol. I loved Remi and August almost as much as I hated them. So many things happen that make it clear they both want to be together, but they both can’t or won’t see it. I can’t entirely blame them though. When your unsure of someone’s feelings and keep getting mixed signals and don’t want to loose them, it makes it hard to lay it all out there. Luckily for us, these two come to their senses eventually. It was more angst than I would have liked lol, but there were sweet moments and some steam mixed in. So overall it was still a great read!

August and Remi had been best friends since they were 14. Before she left for college they hooked up and both acted like it didn't happen. Fast forward more years and August announces that she is engaged breaking Remi's heart. Before he loses her for good he tells her what she means to him. Hoping it will change her mind...

This is such an AMAZING storytelling I became hooked into the epic romance between August and Remi - of missed opportunities, putting friendship above expressing love for each other (especially when everyone else can see it) miscommunication and taking each other for granted. The characters are likeable, relatable, complex, multilayered, and realistic with depth. Told from dual POVs reveals intimately their thoughts, feelings and emotions, as they explore their relationship - their friendship - and their love. There's an HEA

I have loved pretty much everything Alexis has written and this book falls into the same category. Book 3 of the Men of Rocky Mountain series will have you on a rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed, I cried and so much more through not only this book but the entire series.
Remy and August's story is both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. As a reader, knowing they love each other and belong together but are too scared to risk their friendship by admitting their feelings, only to see them push the other away in search of something with someone else when what they really truly want is right in front of them was so frustrating. It broke my heart to read their journey and had me praying that they get their happily ever after with each other.
Alexis has always been consistent with her books and never leaves a reader disappointed. She is simply perfect at what she does.

Having read the two earlier books in this series I was looking forward to reading this one, it didn't disappoint, this time it's the turn of August and Remi. Two people who met as children became best friends and have always been there for each other.

Although neither of them is prepared to acknowledge it they have both felt something for the other stronger than their friendship but the fear of ruining their friendship for something which might not work has held them back from doing anything about it.

Their story is both intriguing and compelling, the characters are well-drawn, interesting and endearing as are their friends and the authors descriptive writing brings the locations mentioned in the story vividly to life, I wish I could actually visit all the towns mentioned in the Rocky Mountain region.

Friends to Lovers

August & Remi were the best of friends in their teens & into their 30's. They didn't see the obvious signs of having deeper feelings for each other & did not communicate it until it looks like it's too late. They are nudged into stepping forward to voice their true feelings for each other so they finally can have their HEA. Very frustrating to watch these two mature adults who are supposed to be long-time best friends to not be able to confide to the other of their love. A strong friendship bond between August & Remi deserves to take that big giant step forward to become a full-time couple & not just a 'friends with benefits' couple. A good book to read as a stand-alone but if you read the first 2 books, there are characters who will link into this story as well.

Remi and August have been friends forever. They crossed the line and were more than friends but because of miscommunication nothing came out of it and they just stayed friends. Years later it happens again and neither admits that they have feelings for the other. This ends up causing problems with their friendship and they end up not talking much and start dating other people. Just as August is starting to move on Remi goes an admits his feelings for her. Will this have her admit how she feels about him too? Will they finally get together?

This is an amazing story that will draw you in from the first chapter and leave you wanting more with the last one. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I received this ebook ARC from the author, on the condition that I write an honest review.
I’ve love all books written by Alexis Winter. This book was somewhat of a roller coaster of emotions. The couple loved each other, but they never admitted their feelings. They were the closes of friends, but kept their true emotions hidden.
Remi and August had known each other since childhood, and both had hidden feelings for each other. A short relationship proved that they were meant for each other, but they still fought their attraction.
They each have separate relationship, but they don’t work out. This is when they both realize that their friendship, and eventually their love is more important than anything else. The couple finally obtain their HEA, with a beautiful epilogue.
