dnf @ ... i don’t even know when, i just had to skedaddle the fuck outta there.

this was painful.

seeing the words “stepbrothers” and “reverse harem” in the same sentence equalled me becoming a whore.

i was looking forward to a spicy heroine with a backbone and a idgaf attitude... and i kinda got that? but just the cliche, caricature edition with no uniqueness or spice.

she made me cringe approximately thirteen times in just the first two chapters. her cocky arrogance was anything but endearing— i am obsessed with heroines like that, who are kinda full of themselves, bitchy and arrogant bcos it makes them, in my eyes, kinda powerful. unlike the heroine’s im used to who are drier than a ritz cracker.

but Blair didn’t know when to back it up bcos she steered into the cringe territory far too many times for my liking. her “im not like other girls” attitude was eye-roll inducing— you can be confident and not have to separate yourself from the rest of your gender to “stand out” and be unique. she was just so cliche— it’s like she was trying to be a combination of Effy Stonem and Jade West, with Effy’s mysterious “im-not-like-other-girls” aesthetic and Jade’s rambunctious attitude... just shittier. don’t disrespect the girlies like that💅🏻

she just seemed to be above everyone else, and she was just too “perfect”— she felt like a woman written by a man lol. i think that about sums her up.
Lexi hops up on the stage between them, leaving me with the other girls who are also here to audition. They shift nervously and chatter amongst themselves, giggling and getting to know each other. I roll my eyes, prop myself up on the closest table, and cross my arms.
...
I see the other girls shooting me glares—they hate me already, I know it. I didn’t bother to sit with them or get to know them. As I stand, I wink at them. I’m confident, bordering on cocky, but it will put them on edge too, which I need.

so, of course all women hate her. they envy her. she’s not like other girls, you see. she’s above female friendships except her one bestie, and no one else should even bother bcos why should they when Blair’s knocking about?

“Sounds good, I’ll come straight from work. I need to get laid tonight; it’s been too long.”
She bustles around the corner, spanking me as she passes. “It’s been like twelve hours,” she teases.
“Exactly, too long!” I call. “Mama needs her dick!”
Patrons turn with a gasp, and I chuckle as Faye’s cheeks heat.

like tell me she did not only say the words “mama needs her dick”, she shouted them in her friends place of work... and she’s only nineteen🥴 i was intrigued by her hedonistic tendencies and love for sex in the prologue since most heroines are demure virgins bcos women can’t enjoy sex, unless they’re the ow or the vindictive ex stirring up trouble most romances seem to require— then women are sluts. but Blair’s cringe-worthy behaviour made my intrigue quickly sour.

ngl the dance sequences and shit were cringey too. like Blair thinking she was all sultry and demure when she kept telling us how she was rolling on the stage floor, i was truly trying to picture the sex appeal of doing belly rolls on the floor of a musty stage... and came up short each time. i just skimmed them to keep my sanity in tact.

then she even does a shitty dance/solo flash-mob at the diner her best friend works at. girl, this ain’t glee, fuck off💀 i beg of you, stop. please. AND THEN, she immediately beats the shit out of two rowdy customers at the diner, smashing their faces into the tables while laughing... idk if it was supposed to be some bad bitch, girl-power move? but it was just so distasteful and cringey😭

so do you understand what i mean? when i say she was like a heroine written by a man? i have no other way to describe her lol.

and all of this was before we’d even met the heroes, so i pulled through to at least see how id feel about the romance portion of the book, or the potential for the romance.

and that wasn’t any better :///

Asher, Bray and Cyrus. said stepbrothers.

Cyrus and Bray both needed a lobotomy and a castration. the fact one of the first things Bray said was: “Females are for one purpose and one purpose only, to sate my lust,” was enough to make me wanna dnf this. not only did he refer to women as females but that their sole purpose in life revolves around him? okay Hugh Hefner, you’re nineteen, go play with some play-dough and try to keep your mouth shut.

but no, instead of shutting the fuck up he goes onto describe Blair’s dancing as “she moved like a goddamn whore on a pole”👁👄👁 i– is that supposed to be a compliment? am i supposed to be flattered??

Cyrus was no better: ”I even ignore Leigh, who’s vying for my attention when we step inside. She can be my punching bag later, taking all my anger as I fuck her—it’s the only thing she is good for.”

idk about yall but when a man says a woman can be his punching bag... *electric chair.* the fact he refers to all women as “cunts” (even Blair🤡) is another piece of evidence, your honour. get this mans in an orange jumpsuit effective immediately.

Asher was the only one i liked. he was the artist, always lost in his head, doodling and thinking up his next creation... and actually respected women. the bar is on the floor, i know. im sighing rn now too. like he starts an argument with his brothers on why they shouldn’t objectify women— that was enough for me😌

and even the plot had nothing going on. it was just party after party after another goddam party. with either Blair or one of the guys fucking some random person, Blair doing something reckless, or taking drugs... or all of the above. like where is the spice? the flavour? the variety? this isn’t skins, shameless or euphoria.

yes gurl, give us nothing!!

and this is just a personal preference but, i have a pet peeve when authors don’t use elisions (using “will not” instead of “won’t”, “you are” instead of “you’re” etc) in their writing, it makes teenage characters sound like stuffy middle-aged men. no one talks like that😭 like Blair would try and be a badass but would say something like “i will fuck you up. you are a dead man. you should not have messed with me” and it just sounded so robotic and clinical lmao. shut up girl. go back to snorting coke and riding dick.

and it wasn’t until i was so far into the book that i realised that this is the author of Den of Vipers and then it was like a lightbulb went off in my head— i was like “ohhhh, that explains a lot, okay.” i know the heroine of that one (Roxie?) had the same vibes as Blair so i avoided that one like the plague.

i fell victim to it anyway😒 but not dumb enough to succumb to 400 odd pages of this shit— i still have some brain cells in tact even after this shitshow😌

learn from my mistakes.

Bloody Hell!!!! Five Filthy and Crazy Stars.

Did this book check all my boxes? Let's see

Great plot with world-building and character development, ✔️

Badass heroine (who I want to be when I grow up) ✔️

Three extraordinary men( one alpha, one artsy with a kind heart, and the other comical, but more sensitive) ✔️

Spicy as all hell ✔️

FF, MFM, FFM, and MF scenes ✔️

On the darker side with tones of twist and some craziness ✔️

Yes, it did.

Blair is one heck of a heroine with demons from her past, Forced to move to a new town with her witch of a mother and move in with her soon-to-be stepfather and three new stepbrothers. When Cyrus, Bray, and Asher Crew meet their new step-sister, they agree she is off-limits. The Men are determined to get rid of her. But they have completed their match; she is just as wild and crazy as them. Oh, how she got at them so many times. I was dying of laughter. She is determined to make them all fall.

Jealousy is a bitch, and so am I.”

Blair’s past comes backs to haunt her and with a Big Bang. Which is written more on the darker side. I was equally part sitting on the edge of my seat than crying for Blair. Talk about an emotional and crazy ride.

The spice in this book is 10/5. It’s Steamy and panty-melting hot. I love how the female protagonist is bisexual. But she doesn’t put a label on it.

“She even pulls more women than Bray. I thought it was just the men we had to be careful of.”

The banter between all four of them is top-notch. I am in total awe of K.A. Knight’s writing. Stepbrothers’ Darling is her best Reverse Harem that she has written. I love how she added the taboo factor and didn’t prolong the bullying. There are several morals to this story. A big one is love and Healing.

It was nice to read a small cameo of Lexi and the rest of the girls from Daddy’s Angel. I hope to see one of the stories of the side characters, Faye. I just love her. Stepbrothers’Darling is a one-click book and a must-read.n

Fierce, self assured heroine!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😠😚😁☺️
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Blaire (a.k.a. Darling) - she is unabashedly bisexual and proud of it. She has bad memories of something that happened months ago, and she calls her mother the devil. She got her anger, determination and talent from her father, she doesn’t know what she got from her mother, but hates her with a passion, especially now that they are moving. Her mother says it was because Blaire disgraced them. Though in reality it is because her mother’s ex husband is selling the mansion that they live in.

The Heroes: Cyrus, Bray, Asher (a.k.a the Crew Brothers) - They are the three sons of the man Blaire’s mother is marrying. When Blaire first arrive at the huge mansion, they are away for the summer. Asher is an artist who is obsessed with the female psyche, who has been zoning out more and more. Cyrus is a huge beast of a man, he always simmers with rage and the ladies love him. Bray is the cocky brother who also never has trouble with the ladies, though he turned his emotions off when his mother died.

The Story: This was no innocent stepsister gets talked into a relationship with her three stepbrothers trope. From the start Blaire gets busy with a woman her boyfriend after a night in the club and she is all dominant. I don’t know why but I kinda hate romance books where the heroine starts out being a bit slutty, even though I though do like women who own their sexuality, and Blaire certainly does that. She applies for a position as a Burlesque dancer as on as she gets to her new town and is determined to get the job.

Two months later, the guys return from holiday abroad. They first see Blaire dancing at the burlesque club. She sees them and thinks they are very handsome and her eyes keep returning to them. The world building is good, though one thing I didn’t like was all the descriptions of Blaire’s dances. They are a bit too detailed, every roll, leg lift and turn. I think it could have been done a bit better, getting the point of the dance without each and every detail.

One thing I really like about K.A. Knight is that she tends to write longer books that are standalone romances rather than a duet, trilogy or series. This one was 563 pages and the audiobook was over 15 hours, which I love. It not only saves money in not having to buy more books or audiobooks, but the story is usually better. It is hard to find good reverse harem romances in a standalone, and I loved Den of Vipers and I plan to read more of her books.

Though there were parts I didn’t like, the guys seemed to be trying to be more bad than they actually were. They are from an exceptionally wealthy family, but they deal drugs to their friends, and in one scene when they were afraid of getting caught by the cops, so instead of just hiding or dumping the drugs (4 bags), Blaire distracts the cop so they can get away. Then there is the fact that the first time they are home alone and hanging out with Blaire they can’t think of what to do so they play Truth or Dare.

The story was good, but some of it got so dramatic at points and like I said above, the guys seemed to be trying too hard to be bad. I didn’t really understand why they did some of the things they did. They said they owned a bunch of businesses in town, and have some big underground dealings, but like I said above, they deal drugs to friends like high school students trying to make extra cash. It just didn’t make sense all the time. I wished there was a better storyline and less steamy scenes.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration, and was narrated by Kylie Stewart and Rupert Channing. Kylie has a upper class British accent and has a nice feminine voice which sounded a bit incongruous with all her dirty talk. Rupert has a fine voice and is a good narrator, he also has a British accent though he isn’t one of my favorite male narrators.

HOLY HOTNESS!!!!
It's just me, or it's hot in here??!
Damn Crew, they ruined me 🔥🔥🔥🥵😂
Where can i get the four of them??!
I'm asking for a friend LOL 😏😏

But this book is not just about sweaty steamy moments....

It's about unconventional love.

It's about the strength of a woman who survived an awful event.

It's about healing and reborn.

It's about grieve and second chances.

It's about letting pleople in your life no matter how much it scares you.

It's about family and friendship.

(And yeah my eyes are heartshaped while writing this words because i f*cking loved Blair, Cyrus, Asher and Bray!!!)

As usual  K.A Knight  deliver an intense story with sensitive topics (a reality many women have to face every day), meaningful moments mixed with playful ones. Action, suspense, passion make it impossible to do everything other than reading.

Cyrus, Asher, and Bray are ruthless, lethal but still good guys who show their love in different ways.
Blair is strong, confident, bold yet so fragile.
I enjoyed so much the ways the four of them interact, but I liked more the fact Blair has a different bond with each one.

However the really amazing thing about this story is the friendship between Blair and Faye 😍😍😍 And i'm glad Katie gave them the same importance as the other relationships.

Definitely another must read!!

This was good I enjoyed it. It had darkish moments and tons of spice. Like I kid you not tons.

Blair had something happen to her and this causes her to keep a wall up and makes her do drugs, sex and just be a hot mess.. my heart hurt for her because she didn't have anyone in her corner until she moved and met the girls and Faye. Now she has new step bros..Asher and Bray are openly flirting with her and wanting to take that step and Cyrus the oldest brother is mean hardass who reminds them they can't even when he's a royal dik towards her we see the up and downs the teasing banter between them.. And now they claim her and protect what's there's when Blairs past comes knocking. This drama has them on edge since they can't catch the stalker and their girl is going though a break down.

The things that annoyed me were the stepbrother/sis always a reminder.. but the mom isn't even married to the dad.. there dating or whatever so tech they aren't step-siblings.. also Blair idk I sometimes enjoyed her other times I felt annoyed by her.. the men I loved them all..

I do wanna read Fayes story idk of its a 3some or a MF? But her and Biker Prez that tension!!!!

Low angst, om drama (stalker), no cheating (when they were together but there were dking others before), slight secondary charas, Drama, sexy times, no virgins (lots of sex lots of partners before they get together)

The male leads constantly calling women "free pussy"... yep. That was an experience. Really enjoyed that.

I think this author just isn't for me. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a heroine is marketed as "strong and independent" and then just spends half of the book telling us about how she's not like other girls. Why does a female main character have to be obnoxious and frankly low key sexist to her own gender to be powerful?

Stepbrothers’ darling ⭐️⭐️
The only reason this is getting above a one star is cause I really enjoyed the first half. Then it all went to shit for me. The first half I was in I was invested. Blair was iconic and her fucking women was so hot. That first threesome scene wow love. Then once the boys decided she was theirs it all went to shit. We lost the plot. I also think it’s hilarious how in the first half of the book women to these men are viewed as holes to fuck and that’s it then at the end we see tat bray helps with a woman’s shelter? Be so for real lmao. Anyways the second half completely lost the plot. The first half had potential and build it up and the second half set that shit on fire. Burned that shit to the ground. I didn’t give a fuck about any character anymore and I didn’t even care about the smut! She wasn’t even their step sister for godsakes their parents weren’t even married. But yeah this just took us on random side tangents and down random paths I didn’t give a fuck about. And the whole bad guy in this storyline was done so bad. We barely got anything on this Mr Andrew’s man but somehow an ex English teacher was capable of all of that? And somehow these men are supposed to be the scariest in town but get taken down easily by one ex English teacher??? WE LOST THE PLOT. What was that. Also Blair’s like whole character changed and it was annoying and they couldn’t shut up about crew and that was annoying and stupid. Stupid stupid stupid. I also just put it together lexi was the girl in the first book. Anyways what a big fat bummer cause the first half slapped and I was invested at that point then BANG JUST SHIT AND RUSHED SET ON FIRE SHIT. AND THIS WAS SO LONG FOR WHAT

Most of time I wanted to dnf this book. It was a waste of precious reading time. And the only reason I got through this is that we did a buddy read with the #cakeeaters.

The Heroine annoyed me a lot. She was very cocky when being away from her mother. She thought that she needed no one. But she was not as tough as she tried to show the world. Her mother could tear her down very easily. So here is a spoiler about Blair(Stage Name Darling):

I really hoped that the books gets better, but it did not. I was confused, because aometimes the MCs felt mature, sometimes they feel like teenagers. They can solve Problems with Violence but should have used words in many situations.

But the most annoying thing was that we do not know what happened to Blair, but the reader suspects something bad happened. I early on got that it will be assault, rape and something else. But by dragging out the „what happened to her?“ the author tries to put in suspense only to annoy me.

There was a lot of s** in the book. But I skipped the f***feasts, because these scenes feel boring not sexy.

All the time I had questions and they were never answered like:
- Why are the guys so feared, only because of their violence and the fact that they so not threaten but follow through (like with this Billy guy)?
- Faye seemed to be a good person but most of the time she seemed to be nice and not violent. When did she turn violent? Because at the end she threatens people with violence.
- Why did the guys have the need to do an illegal business, when they had so many legal ones already. And why do we never see them run the legal ones? And how can 16 years old run businesses?
- Why are the guys so broken? It feels like there wasn’t enough explanation about this.
- And why did Blair’s mum change so much? She seemed to be a better mum until the thing happened to Blair.
- And where is the taboo, because in fact they were no step-siblings, because the parents were not married? I is it really the red wings smut, or the illegal businesses?

This book lacks explanations of many things but it is already really long. And to explain everything there would be another 50 pages.

I’m really sorry but I can’t recommend this book. The author was new to me and I was exited to read this book. But it didn’t entertain me.

I forgot so many thing but here is one of my friends reviews. She wrote a lot of things which bothered me too:

whew, where do we start with this one?

katie knight, when i saw her arc sign-up form for this one, i ran to sign up. i enjoyed den of vipers (let me point out that den of vipers didn't have a plot, you'll understand later) so i was excited for this one. a taboo reverse-harem, oh yes please.

and then by the third or fourth chapter, it just lost me.

blair, the FMC, has a 'i don't care' attitude. considering what she's been through and the fact that she uses that attitude, drugs, booze and s*x as an escape, i didn't mind. strong, scarred female leads are my favourite type so i should have liked her, right? wrong, because the author tried so hard to push the 'i'm not like other girls' notion on her. the first instance was when blair interviewed for the place she currently works at, and refused to sit with other girls, mentioned how they already hated her for that and more. okay, everyone is different and unique, no two people are the same, but you don't need to go out of your way to show that you are different.

cyrus, the oldest brother (i think). he's like an angry grizzly bear. he immediatey hated blair at the beginning, which reminded me of garrett and roxy from DOV. he also reminded me of diesel because of his bloodlust and ryder, because he's the leader. overall, by the end, i kind of liked his character. i'd probably like him more if he didn't treat every other woman like crap. you can be a grumpy, morally grey character and you can still respect women too, dude.

bray, oh god, bray. his playfulness reminded me of kenzo, but that's where their similarities stop. all this man thinks about is s*x or demeaning woman. one of the first things he said at the beginning is that women are good for one thing and one thing only—i think you know what that 'thing' is. he was even worse than cyrus in objectifying women. there were some soft scenes where he'd hold blair close, and where he took her to mary's haven that me swooning because that was so cute, and then he'd ruin it by having s*x.

asher, five stars to this amazing dude. he's an artist and has that dark, mysterious vibe about him that had me intrigued. he didn't get as much time with blair as the other two did and that annoyed me. he's the best out of the three! first, he's a feminist so heck yeah! he's a killer, just like his eldest brother but boy does he hide that side. you'd never know since he's so cute and just soft, but he has two sides to him. i love his dominant side, the one who carries a knife with him and would kill anyone for touching his brothers or his girl, as much as i love the one who doodles and gets lost in his thoughts.

blair's inner monologue was very repetitive. she went from hating them, being attracted to them to not wanting to be with them to loving them and again and again this cycle went. bleh. she distanced herself at the end and anytime they showed emotion, she'd ruin it by turning things sexual. like, the only time i saw the real blair was when she was crying in the hospital. for 95% of the book, she had her walls up.

faye annoyed me. she got into an argument with blair and claimed she broke her heart by not telling her all her secrets after only knowing each other for two/three months. sorry??? i've known my best friends for years and even we don't know each other's every single dark secret.

prez, he's probably the only dude i liked beside asher and we don't even know his name, urgh. i liked jake too, he's playful and funny.

and don't even get me started on the period s*x! like, okay, do it, i don't mind. i honestly don't, it's a little blood. but no, he used his mouth instead! like do you not realise that when a woman is on her period, we/they excrete more than just blood. there's mucus and inner linings of our stomach and ohmigosh, just knowing his face was there—

and urgh, when blair left and bray started crying. i could not believe that. he's emotional, i get it, i would've understood a few tears but not full on sobbing.

i also found it incredibly hard to believe that all (apparently, they're all twenty-one, despite cyrus being the oldest because the author failed to clarify age) at such a young age, they all ruled the city they lived in. if they were in their late twenties, okay but not when they just entered adulthood and especially not if they didn't have any familial ties to the mafia.

overall, did not enjoy and would not recommend. this actually had a plot as compared to DOV so i should have liked it, but no.

Gritty, steamy romantic suspense

3.5/3.75 stars

Blair, young, self-reliant, and unconventional, is forced to move to follow her irredeemable, gold-digger, and frankly odious mother who has new man to a new town. There she meets would-be stepbrothers, Cyrus, Bray, Asher -- The Crew "Blood in, Blood out." And the adventure begins, forming sisterly friendships, melding an initial tenuous why-choose relationship, and thrilling suspense from ghosts of the past.

Blair, an accomplished dancer, is strong, feisty, and free. She is an uninhibited character, unbridled by convention, and as a result attracts others with compelling magnetism. But she is not perfect. Blair tends to surrounds herself in situations and with characters who are not so good for her, some of which she unconsciously invites due personal pain explored in her story, while other times due to her flagrant bravado. Primarily though, others and her guys are simply drawn to her charisma. A great element I liked about this story was the proud depiction of this not so perfect heroine as well as the sexual liberty. At the same time, I found the over-the-top, bad-girl unrealistic, irksome even as she confronted and upended every situation with conceivably perfect finesse. For instance, she could take down a group of grown men simply using her fists. The tough girl qualities being so prevalent made for a mostly linear persona throughout the book, permitting little change in character, and more importantly, little character growth.

The (anti)heroes -- Cyrus, Bray, and Asher -- were initially admirer frenemies of Blair until they became more. I enjoyed their first banters, caustic and funny flirtations more than the later overly devotional interactions. The later, cuddly boy behavior felt at odds and dishonest to the supposed bad boy image trying to be conveyed. To be clear, cool guys and I liked that they loved and adored their heroine, but they came across more emotional than tough guys.

Overall, great character development, with each being unique, distinguishable and likable characters (and dislikable for those who evoked animosity -- there were many).

Interestingly enough, they regularly referred to Blair as stepsister and she to the guys as stepbrothers, but the parents were not married -- unless memory serves me wrong. I liked the forbidden, taboo nature of the story, but in truth, I don't think it was. Definite internal chuckles from time to time about that.

Heat...the story was spicy! There was no reticence. Please and thank you! Again, I liked the sexual freedom.

Unfortunately, some detractors to the story were that it was overly long, sometimes thematically repetitive, as to hinger progress or storyline. There was some great subplots to be told -- stalker, characters' past histories, side characters finding love, for sure, but not as much plot time was spent on those. The heroine's over the top bravado, occasionally to the point of reckless, didn't seem realistic and was annoying. There was nothing she couldn't do. Finally, the shift in the dynamics of the harem -- character behavior complete abandonment of previously forged personalities.

While it was more the writing style and bravado that weren't for me, I liked the genuineness of character to character affection; the positive portrayal of an imperfect yet compelling heroine, imperfect people in general; Blair's view of pleasure irrespective of gender; and the mystery / thriller subplots. Oh and the steam! These made for an entertaining and enjoyable read.

STEPBROTHERS DARLING BY: K.A. KNIGHT 😈

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how sex positive Blair was, how she never let anybody judge her or make her feel bad. Blair is raw, dirty and takes absolutely no shit. This book is definitely full of smut but it also has a great plot and some amazing characters. My only complaint in this whole book is the over use of stepbrothers. It was so over used and I just really wanted her to use their names 😔 besides from that this book really pulled out all the stops. Blair has to work through so much emotionally and really build and strengthen friendships ❤ I loved that she worked through her trauma and we got to see her at her lowest and highest points. It's a great book and the men are top tier!! Cyrus, bray and asher never saw her coming but she was exactly what they needed. Plus the banter between the four of them is absolute perfection!! Get ready for some twists, turns and past reveals will leave you gasping! I would call this midly dark but an absolute great time!!

3 I'm Being Nice Stars

***Possible Spoilers + Rant-so Be Warned***

I am honestly surprised I survived reading this book. I'm only glad it's a RH standalone because I could not survive anymore. Not only was it the book that never ends, the plot was so boring and a clearly bad imitation of Den of Vipers. Now to be clear I loved Den of Vipers and this really read like the author tried to recreate the essence of that book only this falls so far off the ledge it's floating in the nethosphere. The execution of this book falls extraordinary flat and it was hard to care about any of the characters or story lines as they lacked depth and detail.

The heroine's mother is ONLY engaged to the three heroes father throughout the book so the group are never really at any point step siblings. The men are part of Crew, exactly what that means or why they call themselves that is never really explained. The guys are all super rich, early twenties, run the streets and small time drugs, put fear into everyone but never do we learn why they have this supposed power or how. Not once in the book did I understand or believe these men were anything but gangster wannabes. Why & how are they so smart? How do they have multiple businesses? How is all this possible with only three men who are so lame real criminals would eat them for lunch? Even in the end when the heroine needs actual rescuing she ends up having to save herself because somehow this trio managed to be taken down and out by a single guy. They sell small time drugs and frequent parties like they are still in high school. In the start they are away for months and yet still run their territory, with no minions or anything, I mean how believable is that smh! Like the heroine they use drugs and sex to feed the emptiness inside of them-and that's a whole other story....

Now I'm all for a sexually free heroine who isn't ashamed of herself or her sexuality. At first I thought Blaire was just like this as the book opens with her hooking up with a M/F couple. Blaire does not discriminate against the opposite sex and sometimes even prefers women over men, okay cool. But it really really bothered me that Blaire used sex as she did because of her mysterious past. There are many hints dropped about her shady past but the truth is not revealed until around 70 percent when the danger takes a more active role in the story. She even goes after one of the men's side chicks and the whole scene was just super cringe worthy especially how she literally rubs it in his face. Much of the book consists of all the characters hooking up and not only with each other. The sex fest became to be so MUCH that once she actually becomes a thing with her stepbros I barely cared. Also this will probably bother others but umm can we talk about period sex...... I never judge what others like and I really tried here. But this wasn't only period sex.

There's so much about this story that just doesn't hit the mark mostly because there's no details or reasoning behind it. I was very optimistic going into this because I've really enjoyed books from this author before but this was a big HELL NO for me. And honestly I'm bummed because certain things like the heroine held promise. When we meet her not only is she sexually free but she's doing all she can to be in charge of her life. She's a badass bitch who can and will take down any man as well as shake her ass on stage as the new burlesque dancer in town. Unfortunately it didn't take long for the book to tank for me which was a shame because it really is LONG as hell.

DNF at 37%.

It's hard to believe that three 21-year-olds own four of the top law firms and nearly 50% of the businesses in the city. Even if they are big-time drug lords, which they aren't because they're only selling drugs in small quantities to university students, it wouldn't be plausible. It's not plausible either that they bought the mansion from their father and then set house rules, dictating to their father how things should go, and he meekly takes it. If that's the case, how did he ever have the gumption to move Blair and her mother into the place in their absence? It farther beggars belief that he didn't even bother to tell them that Blair and her mother were there. If the boys ruled the roost, their father wouldn't have dared to install anyone else in the house without getting permission, or at least telling them first.

I don't like when things don't make sense, and uneven characterisation never makes sense. Blair isn't a minor, so I don't get how her mother could make her move from their town and go along with her to the new place. There's so much animosity between them that you'd have thought Blair would have left long ago. Sure, she says she's saving money to get out and live on her own. But she doesn't strike me as having no money if she can afford a car that races, and not only that, she does stunts in that car which would wear out her tyre threads in months. Plus, if she were really motivated to get away from her mother, she'd bunk with a friend or even stay in her car -- anything would be better than having to deal with her toxic mother.

The kind of lifestyle that these people are living is one I can't identify with. Partying all the time, getting drunk, doing recreational drugs, racing on the streets, beating people up. The guys boasting about owning the town and being the kings of the town simply because they're small-time drug runners at parties was so laughable, but worse, it wasn't admirable. The way they treated women, how they think a woman is just a pu$$y to be used, was worse.

Sure, I get the vibe that Cyrus treated Leigh like she was disposable because his "business" was dangerous and he didn't want anyone to think she was important to him, lest they target her. But he was still a total ass to her and spoke harshly to her, used her and made her feel like less than dirt. Plus, I don't like when a man or men meet the h, they are drawn to her, they want her, they fantasise about her, but they keep shagging other women. And not only that, aren't even shy about it. Are proud of their conquests, even. I want a man who, despite being conflicted about the h, wants her so badly that he's unable to get into it with another woman even if he tries, because whenever he looks at another woman, the h's face is all he sees and having a substitute just isn't enough. It's unsatisfying, and ultimately he can't settle for anything less than the real thing.

These guys, they were horrified they wanted Blair, not because she might become their stepsister, but because they weren't supposed to want anyone. They were supposed to be invincible and untouchable. All they needed was each other. So they play a game of trying to prove to themselves and everyone else that they don't care, they don't want her, they can have all the free pu$$y they want, life is fantastic and wonderful. They're on the top of the world and no mere woman can best them. To their mind, giving in to Blair would be a weakness, when they ought to fall to their knees and be damn thankful that someone like her would even look at someone like them.

They aren't heroes; they don't have any redeemable features. They live for themselves, their selfish ambitions and dreams, and don't give a $hit about anyone else. I wanted Blair to end up with Walker instead because Walker at least came across as a decent guy, noticing that someone was coming on to Faye (Blair's best friend) and making her feel uncomfortable... and wanting to do something about it. The brothers would have just walked away, saying it's none of their business.

I like that Blair is a badass but I don't think her badassness is realistic. She's constantly beating up and besting men who are physically larger and stronger than she is. She's described as petite and we know she's a dancer so she must be strong, but a dancer's strength is not like a bodybuilder's strength so how can she grab a man by the hair and smash his face into a table? I winced the number of time she went to parties and drank, then got into her car and drove.

There's some mystery about Blair, something in her past. I suspect that she was stalked and that her stalker killed Lucas, a guy she loved, which has caused her to become closed up and hard. And I get that when people are in pain, they do all kinds of things to numb the pain (like drink and drugs). But it's a self-destructive path she's on. It's hard to root for a main character who is doing these things to herself. I'm sympathetic that she's trying to cope with her pain, but she's going about it the wrong way, and from what I read of Asher and Bray's POV, they're doing the same thing. It's like watching a train wreck, and knowing there's going to be a huge conflagration. Two -- or four -- broken people can help each other, but not if they're all in that kind of spiral, not if they're all using unhealthy ways of coping and are unwilling to face the pain face-on, because in the end they'll all just become co-dependent and it will still be unhealthy.

At this point in the story, the boys have witnessed altercations between Blair and her mom and have become protective of Blair, deciding to "claim" her (not sexually, but as one of theirs to care for). This is the kind of thing I like to read, a protective hero, someone who cares about the h's feelings, steps in and steps up when she can't do it for herself. But I don't like how everything is always done with threats and violence and one-upmanship, hurling insults and contempt.

They put out word that she was off limits, not to protect her, but just to assert ownership. Blair gets angry because she isn't a possession and won't allow them to make her one. They didn't even talk to her about it beforehand! So she kisses a guy, and what does Cyrus do? He breaks the guy's hand as a message that no one can touch what is theirs, and remind them of who's in charge. It's just pointless gratuitous violence. And then they all push her into her car and Cyrus has rough sex with her, dominating her as "punishment" for kissing someone else. She doesn't want it but since she's also attracted to them, she gives in and enjoys it, which means it's dubcon and not rape, but it doesn't sit well with me at all. Again, this is not behaviour I want to see from a guy who is supposed to love the h. I know it's too early in the book for him to be in love with her, but he should be falling for her and this is not how you show that you are falling for a woman. I can't go on with this story, it's just not for me.

ARC READ

This book reminds me of the HAVOC series by CM Stunich - just squeezed down into one book and with rich boys instead of started-from-the-bottom types. Obviously, even if the author has made this book thick, the boys do come across as thin characters. The only one who I feel is fully fleshed out is Blair. I'm not one to scream "I want more POVs" - there were other POVs, but they were light and didn't feel like they gave each one of the guys a unique voice. The author has picked up on the strong heroine trend, and it was nicely implemented. I was entertained. I looked forward to the unveiling of the heroine's past. It was executed a bit rushed, but it was still interesting to find out what had formed the girl into the person she was in the book. If you love smut and multiple partners, this is for you. If you're a Knight fan, this is for you. I give 3.5 rounded up to 4 because it had a promising core - I just wish it was a bit more fleshed out on the crucial parts. Other than that, it was a pleasure to read it.

Woah — I don’t think I can fully comprehend how much I loved this book.

The spice was A++ but the plot was amazing as well. I loved all of the mcs who added so much depth to the story.

At surface level the Crew Brothers are hard, cold, womanizing drug dealers — but there is so much more to them as well as Blair.

I loved their individual relationships with Blair, their group dynamic, and their devotion to protecting each other. All of it was *chefs kiss*

I rarely say this but... this book had too much plot, and not enough smut.

It didn't have the burning tension that Daddy's Angel did.

‘jealously is a bitch, but so am i.’ blair, i am willing to propose.

came for the forbidden romance and smut. stayed for the emotional rollercoaster and incredible story.

god i LOVED this book. k.a. knight could well and truly give her shopping list and it would be a work of art but this is so, so beautiful. it has absolutely everything:

- forbidden romance
- a bisexual mc that is all fire and takes absolutely no shit (blair is the love of my life)
- HOT HOT HOT smut (both straight and sapphic - and the sapphic smut is steamy wow)
- reverse harem
- nightmare and comfort trope
- a very meaningful storyline that deals with PTSD, trauma and how trauma can shape a future (i cried)
- three guys that absolutely love the shit out of their family
- an adorable bestfriendship
- heartbreaking backstories
- instantly a new favourite of mine

i was honestly so surprised at this book. i went in expecting to love it and i did, but definitely not for just the reasons i thought i would, yes, this is smutty TO THE MAX and i loved every single scene (the devil would blush) but it was also a very emotional read in terms of the themes and trauma that it dealt with.

i loved that the way that blair dealt with her trauma wasn’t glamorised or romanticised. she well and truly had PTSD and had been through so much that was clearly still affecting her, her choices and mindset and it wasn’t just her being sad. it was raw and harsh and probably mirrored the way a lot of people deal with their trauma. but still, blair can be an absolute ray of sunshine and she’s so strong and powerful and knows exactly what she wants. i simply love her.

cyrus, bray and asher - i have to say that i LOVE these guys so much. these guys never gave up on blair and i am ready to give them a round of applause. it also helps that they are the sexiest men ever.

cyrus: the brooding leader that thinks it’s his job to protect his family.

bray: the secret softy that just wants people to stay.

asher: the quiet artist that uses blair as his muse.

blair and the crew brothers went through hell and back together and i absolutely loved their journey and growth. seeing all of them open up was just so perfect.

AND FAYE. oh my god, to have a best friend like that!!

12/10 will read again. i refuse for this to be the last time that i jump into their world. i love every single one of them.

thank you SO much to k.a. knight, courtney & her team for sending me an arc of this book! all opinions are my own :)

tws: sexual assault (off the page but still spoken about), stalking, harassment, drug abuse/misuse, alcohol abuse/misuse, graphic murder

"I never meant to fall in love with my stepbrothers, but life has a funny way of giving you exactly what you need."

I'm going to get obvious out of the way--this book was classic KA Knight material. You're definitely going to dive in for the spice and not be disappointed whatsoever. Grade A, top-tier smut. Naturally, I wasn't expecting an intricate plot, but it kept me engaged throughout!

Stepbrothers' Darling is a forbidden reverse harem--Blair, and her new "stepbrothers," Asher, Bray, and Cyrus, are the main characters. I'm not going to get into the semantics of whether they're technically related or not--the taboo element is there, and they make sure you don't forget it!

I’m so happy to see fleshed-out character development from KA. It was something that I found lacking in previous books of hers. All the main characters had a back story that allowed their emotional and vulnerable sides to show. It makes it easy to understand how they fell for each other when their relationship was built on lust-filled attraction.

Asher, Bray, and Cyrus Crew--you can't help but love 'em. If you're somehow not a fan of them all, one will definitely be for you! Personally, I'm down for all three-- but there is something about Bray that brings me to my knees. He was a multidimensional character that I wish we saw more in fictional men. He took me on an emotional journey--laughing and crying on the way!

I have one major complaint with this book, but I don't think everyone will see it this way. And this is not specific to this book but any that have this critical character flaw. Blair--there is a fine line between badass and arrogant. I have to relate to a character to immerse myself in their world. Being that I read romance, that usually falls on the female main character. Blair was incredibly unrelatable, but that might be a me problem!

I will say, I love that Blair is bisexual and sex-positive! It is refreshing when they can own it shamelessly!

If you're a fan of KA in any way, you're going to have a good time reading this book! ENJOY!

Side note: really hoping KA was setting up one of the side characters for her own motorcycle club RH!!!!! *manifestation*

A very Den of Vipers-esque read. K.A. Knight is still a newer author to me, so maybe it’s just her writing style? But much like DOV, Blair was kind of a lot. And while I’m fully aware it’s fiction, I’m always confused when our high school characters are in so very adult situations. Nonetheless, I always like when there’s a clear and distinct dynamic with each H of a RH relationship. I really liked all of our guys in this one and they’re unique personalities. Did I mention the hot AF smexy times?! Likewise, there were a lot of twists and turns in the book and I liked the suspenseful elements. Not a favorite, but a solid read.

3.5 I think? I really wanted to love this and feel kinda guilty that I didn’t. This will probably be an annoying airing of grievances so I’m sorry…
So there’s a lot of good and a lot of bad.

There’s a lot of hot sex, but it got really repetitive and I started skimming sex scenes which I never do.

The main girl is a badass, but she’s also laughably annoyingly perfect. she can sing, dance, beat up boys, everyone wants to be her or fuck her, she races cars, she is the coolest person ever with no flaws except (duh) being closed off to love. It’s kind of annoying after a while. Like it’s so fun for a badass heroine to crush it and be amazing but once again this got repetitive. She’s written like Lara Croft or something- a man’s idea of a perfect woman.

The plot is interesting. There’s a dark past chasing her and a lot going on with the guys and the gang shit they get up to and all that. But it got repetitive and felt twice as long as it needed to be. Even at 40% I was like damn this book is taking forever! And I had that thought over and over until the end. Yeah there’s a lot of exciting things happening, but there’s also so much filler.
How many times do they go to parties? Probably at least 5, but it felt like 10. With extensive detail on everything that happens. I think the message could be portrayed by like 2 parties. Same with the number of times we are at her work, where her dance routines are described in full detail step by step. At first I was trying to picture it all and then I gave up because it was too much.

The guys are badass cool and sexy, but they also hate women until Blair, and they’re drug dealing tough guy gangbangers even though they were born millionaires. What’s the fun in that? In most things I read they would be the enemy. I guess it’s good to switch it up, but if you want your guys to be rich from dealing drugs, do they also have to be rich from having a millionaire daddy? That means they were only dealing drugs for fun? Idk.

The conflict near the end was the kind of predictable where you could guess it from a mile away. It was very infuriating and frustrating even though I knew how it was going to start and how it was going to end.

This book feels like a caricature of a lot of plot elements I would usually love, over exaggerated until the end result is too much. While I was reading I was like “this is a 5! Ok maybe 4.5. Ok maybe 4. Ok I’m losing my mind it’s a 3.5”

I really like K.A. knight and I really like the premise of this book. I bet a lot of people will like it and I certainly don’t suggest against reading it. But it fell really flat for me and I’m frustrated as hell.

I'm definately new to the RH scene, and the concept of this being brothers definately grabbed my attention. Right from the opening scene the sex was off the charts hot 🥵.

I really liked all three boys and how you saw all different sides to their personalities. I would of liked to see more of their darker side for sure, but thats just me 😜.

"I’m going to make that king fall from his pedestal built on money, blood, and drugs. I’ll make them all fall."

Blair was definately a badass, but for some reason I struggled to connect with her character. There were definately some aspects that I found to be unrealistic, and maybe that effected my over all feels for her character..... 🤔.

Over all I felt that Stepbrother's Darling was a steamy read where the woman is worshipped! I wouldn't personally class this as taboo though.

"Blood in. Blood out. Crew for life."

I think this is three stars - I'm undecided, so excuse me if I waffle on in this unreasonably long review while I try to figure it out.

So for me, there’s a lot of good and bad in this book. I’d say for the first 30 to 40 per cent, I was enjoying everything - the plot and characters were all promising, and I was fully ready to uncover all the secrets and see some action. But...by about the halfway point, everything started to fall flat.

There’s a lot of hot sex (I mean, loads!), which is a given in any KA Knight book, but it got repetitive. It just kept popping up, and eventually, I started skim reading the spicy scenes, which I’ve only ever done with one other book (*ahem* Timber #4 Hades).

Blair, our main girl, is a badass, but it’s also laughable just how annoyingly perfect she is. She can sing, dance burlesque, race cars, fight - everyone she meets wants to be her or fuck her. The worshipping is relentless from every character, and it’s annoying after a while.

At some point, Blair started to feel like a caricature for the male gaze - that perfect fantasy of being hot, extremely sexual and, of course, also into girls.

The sprinkling of plot in between all the sex is interesting. There’s a dark past chasing Blair and a lot going on with the guys and their gang business. But again, it got so repetitive - how many times did I need the full details of them going to parties or Blair going to work?

The guys are all cool and sexy with massive dicks, but they also hate all women...until Blair, obvs. What I couldn't get my head around was why they were drug dealers. They owned half the town, had several businesses and were born rich - but they were selling drugs at parties like they needed the pocket money.

The ending conflict was predictable. I could have called it before I’d even finished the first half of the book. I don't hate predictable endings, but in this case, it was a bit frustrating.

Overall I’m a bit baffled by this book. I've read a lot from KA Knight, so I knew what to expect, but this almost felt like a satirical spoof of smutty romance books - like it's so riddled with cliche that it’s poking fun at the whole genre.

Idk if any of that made sense, but yeah, a low three stars. The same story could have been told in 200 less pages and I’d have probably given it a higher rating.

I can only apologise for this long ass review about a book that wasn’t that deep.
