All Scarlet Bridge wants is to get through her last year of school, overcome her brother's shadowy legacy, and win the prized scholarship for college. She's not about to let anyone stand in her way, not even everyone's favorite Golden Boy, Levi Henare.
Levi loves rugby, his family, and teasing Scarlet Bridge. With a tough family situation at home, he has his own reasons for excelling both academically and on the sports field.
When Scarlet accidentally dials Levi's phone number, a chain of events that neither expected is set into motion.
Thrown together by a twist of fate, will they come to understand and appreciate each other, and themselves or are they destined to remain at daggers drawn forever?

As the author, I’m a little bit biased but this is a very special book. I’m grateful that I could write about such diverse characters and for it to be published. I hope you enjoy my attempt at writing a fun story that still manages to deal with the hardships of life.
Thank you to Turn the Page the Tours and the author for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and a spot on this tour.
The story’s told Scarlett and Levi’s perspectives. Both of them are the top achievers at their schools, with a well-known rivalry – but both are also struggling to juggle everything else and deal with their own family drama. After a particularly unpleasant night, they finally start seeing each other in a different light.
This was my first book with the academic-rivals-to-lovers trope and I’m definitely intrigued to read more from this genre; it made for some truly great, and funny banter throughout the book.
I particularly liked Levi, he seemed the more humble and down-to-earth of the two, whilst Scarlett was rather annoying and arrogant at first (she grew on me as the story progressed though).
One of the main things that I liked about this book is how it has the best of a cute YA romance while also deftly weaving in some serious subjects without making it feel too heavy. It deals with PTSD, sexual harassment, depression, addiction, and suicide. It shows the character’s dysfunctional families, their wonderful friendships, and it tells you you shouldn't settle for less than you deserve or to try and change yourself for someone else.
The main thing I disliked about this book was the pacing. The story just moved too slowly for me in the first half. It felt like the setup to the main stage was too long.
Overall, I really enjoyed this short book. It was cute and funny and rather realistic.
⭐⭐⭐✨ A cute ya contemporary romance with my favourite trope: academic rivals to lovers.
Levi and Scarlet were adorable, and I appreciated how love wasn't the only thing on their minds: each had their own issues to deal with and overcome, which made their eventual romance have a high payoff.
And their moments together were adorable and fun to read. Their moments together at the beach made me wish I had someone to whisk me away and watch the sunset and sunrise.
Storywise I felt the pacing was a bit off and perhaps too many moments were packed into a short time, and the writing sometimes became too much telling instead of showing - I also felt there were one to many side characters that took focus away from the main couple (I did really love the side characters though, just got a bit confusing at times). However, it was incredibly easy to read and absorb into - I ended up rooting for these characters to succeed.
Excellent representation, and it was so nice to read a book based in Auckland.
Overall, a good debut - there is alot of potential for the author to grow and expand on her love stories, because the bones of it were good.
Thankyou to Hasnita for sending me a copy of your book to review, it was a welcome break from reality this week 🥰 congratulations on your first published book!
Get You the Moon is a quick read that deals with a handful of heavy topics. It is a story that hooks with ease, yet I found it didn’t quite wow me in the way I had hoped. That is not to say I disliked it, simply that I had hoped for a wee bit more from this one.
Get You the Moon was a story that focused on real life, detailing many aspects of the world that are far from pretty. It made it easy to fall for the characters and to become invested in their development, and that made it easy to power through this book in no time. I wanted to see the characters grow, I was eager for their happy ending, and I turned the pages rapidly to see everything come together. Despite this addiction, I do feel some of the heavy topics in this story were not given quite the attention they could have been. There were some details that seemed to be handled a little too easily, and I would have liked to see more from them. In some ways, I think this is because the book tried to deal with a few too many topics, which meant some fell to the side and did not get the full attention they deserved. It was not enough to take away my enjoyment of the book, yet it did leave me wishing there had been a wee bit more from it.
All in all, Get You the Moon was an addictive read that ensured I could not put it down until everything came together.
I was excited to read this book and as I started it felt great to read as I felt at home. This book was set in Auckland, New Zealand. Being from New Zealand myself, it just felt like I was more invested in this book. The author captured the NZ culture well with sports, academics, and families. In Get You The Moon we have our main character leads Scarlet Bridge and Levi Henare. These two are the top academics at the high school and have been arch-enemies since Year 9/10. For Scarlet, she feels that Levi has everything handed to him on a silver platter and is spoilt and never gets in trouble for his actions, nothing sticks to him. Whereas she feels every move of hers is scrutinized especially since her older brother Sawyer who was once a golden boy ended up being caught in a compromising position with his music teacher and it came out that they had an affair. During this book, Scarlet ends up calling her boyfriend Jack - only for it to be a wrong number and turns out to be Levi's number. The two-start chatting and talking not realizing who the other is. I liked the chemistry between Scarlet and Levi and agree that Jack was such a freaking jerk boyfriend. Get You the Moon not only touches on the teen enemies to lover’s romance, high school hijinks, family drama but also the edgy side of partying and drugs.
I loved this book! From the academic rivals to lovers, to the DIVERCE CHARACTERS filled with culture, and the sweet and cute relationship that developed between the two MC I couldn't put it down. The slow burn was there. The banter was there. The I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED YOU was there and IT GAVE WHAT NEEDED TO BE GIVEN. Oh and lets not forget how well the author was able to include difficult topics like PTSD, assault, addiction, and family issues. It was amazing how much the characters grew from the beginning. I kind of felt like I grew with them too. This is the perfect book for a teenager that's waiting for the sweet high school romance. It's sweet, cute, adorable and every thing I love in a book.
Levi, Levi, Levi. You are perfection. Like actual perfection. I think Levi has made it to the top of my book boyfriend list. He is literally the definition of YOU ARE IN LOVE by Taylor Swift.
Scarlet. Give me your personality. You are the biggest girl boss I have ever read about. You're feminist ideals, your smartness, your sass... I want it all. ~~~ My only little concern was that I kind of wished the scenes connected with the next one more. I loved the dual POV, but wished I saw the other MC at certain parts. Sometimes they were having such a great moment and I thought I was getting more... but I didn't. Yet, it was still a very enjoyable read and I will definitely be re reading it in the future.
This book was really cute. Levi and Scarlet's chemistry radiates through without them even trying. I am in love with Levi as a character. He's an absolute cutie. He's funny, kind and genuinely a good person.
I absolutely loved the representation of LGBTQIA+ characters in this book. Also, I loved to see different characters coming from different backgrounds. Not only that, but the book also handled some really heavy topics such as inequality, racism, sexism, homophobia and sexual harassment.
The reason behind my rating is that it was really hard for me to read. I do have certain triggers so it took me longer than it would've normally. But the book is still very cute. I just think I would've enjoyed it more had I been able to read it in one sitting. Also, Scarlet infuriated me at times. Her stubbornness when it came to love made me want to strangle her in certain moments.
With that being said, I really liked the overall story. I thought it was very well written and enjoyed the romance. I loved how respectful Levi was. And I love how every character had a background story. It made them seem all the more real.
I don’t usually write reviews but for my beautiful friend I had to make an exception. For a debut novel, Get You the Moon is outstanding!! I’m not usually one for contemporary books but this was such a refreshing read. The romance was obviously adorable but this book touches on so many important topics that normally go ignored like racism and sexual harassment which made it so much more special. I loved all the characters (esp Jude my guy what a legend) and there were so many hilarious scenes that actually made me laugh!!!! I loved the two different POV’s from the main characters and the actual writing of the novel is so clever with hidden meanings that took me a second to get (in the best way). Everyone can find something they relate to in this book so tbh just go read it lol
So proud of you Has xx can’t wait to see what you come out with next!
As soon as I read the synopsis for this one, I knew I wanted it. I mean, it has academic rivals to lovers. That's something I'll never say no to, I find it so enjoyable. Sadly though, this one didn't catch my attention while I was reading.
I think my main problem was the format. It jumped between scenes so quickly, practically giving you whiplash. You never got the time to luxuriate in a particularly touching scene because you were off to the next immediately. So many moments of this were extremely powerful, so it bothered me that they were skimmed over.
I really believe that if this had been longer I would've loved it. Levi and Scarlet had everything needed to be an addicting couple, but the page count cheated them. Their angst was there, and their slowburn was immaculate. I was just never able to connect to them though.
Although this one had its flaws, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the authors other works. There's real potential here, this one just fell a bit short.
Thanks to Turn the Page Tours for providing a free copy!
okay putting the OBVIOUS bias aside (yes this was written by a dear friend) I LOVED THIS!!!! honestly you can't get me to read ya contemporary if you threatened me with every weapon on this planet but MYGOd !??? this was GOOD i liked the banter the description wasn't too flowery and the MCs were actually likeable. which is rare for this genre. mostly bc teenagers suck i can't blame the authors. i liked it so much. it was so natural. no unnecessary angst/miscommunication/bullshit between the mcs. just life happening. which is my favourite kind of art.
Let me start my review by telling you that this book was better than I expected it to be, I have been in a reading slump for a while now and I didn't expect this book to get me out of it but it did and I am just so excited to write my review. I finished reading this book in one day, it made me smile often because the friendship is just so precious between the characters and I especially liked how the storyline didn't focus on just one relationship. The storyline also gave you a slight view of the lives of the other characters and it also spotlighted some of the troubles the main characters were dealing with like the loss of a parent and a relationship between a teacher and a student. I read that this was Hasnita's first book and it was a good debut, I can't wait to read more of her work. I also want to thank Hasnita for sending me a copy of her book to review, it got me out of my reading slump!
𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒅: • The slow pace in romance; what I liked the most was how the relationship was evolving slowly! I was so glad to read a book without smut for once and without a rollercoaster of emotions. The pace of the relationship made sense. • The writing style is what captured my attention. I especially like how we get to read through Levi and Scarlet's POV. Somehow I wish some chapters were longer and we would also experience the side of the other character during a situation but that is just a side note. • The dialogue, can we just take the time to appreciate the humor in some of the dialogue between the characters? It really made me smile and roll my eyes. • I also liked the parallel in between chapters; like how Scarlet's family broke apart during the storyline while Levi's family grew bigger.
𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒅: • I think one of my main problems was how fast the writer jumped between some scenes, therefor the emotion in one chapter didn't last that long in the other chapter. A slower pace would have been a better option after a chapter where something big happened. • The cover; this cover isn't what I expected from this book. Maybe it's the graphic designer in me, but I think a different cover matches the aesthetic and vibe of this book more. Something like a cover where you can see a boy on the left side and a girl on the right side, both leaning against the same wall and behind them, you can see the setting of two different rooms. The cover of the book is a little too mature for the storyline and it isn't how old I imagined the characters to look like, I wouldn't pick this book up in the bookstore by just looking at the cover. It doesn't really capture my attention and let's be honest we do judge books by their covers.
Get You The Moon is such a fantastic read!!! Not only the romance is amazing but the whole cast of characters is just chef's kiss!
It follows Scarlet and Levi during their final year of High School, both with clear goals in mind, they want to be the best and for this, they've been hating each other for years but this is the year where everything changes... And not in the way they expect.
It's when they start spending time with each other that they find out that they might be more similar than they have imagined. Both dealing with some heavy stuff - Scarlet and her dysfunctional family and Levi with the weight of being the man of the house while also trying not to get pushed down by the weight of the loss of his dad - they find solace in each other.
It's full of witty comebacks and cute moments and the short chapters really make you want to read the whole thing in two sittings - which I did - and then re-read it all over again - which I am.
The cast of characters is fantastic and so diverse too! We have a depressed brother who has gone through some heavy stuff but who also gives the best love advice ever and the cutest siblings whom makes the reader care even more about all of them. Friends have a major role in this book and the only people with whom both Scarlet and Levi can fully be themselves, two teenagers who can have a laugh and get high in the park in the middle of the night without thinking of their respinsabilities towards their families.
This was such a good book! From the way it is written to how it deals with heavy topics such as abuse and bullying and dysfunctional families and sexuality, with such care and gentleness and in a way that it never feels heavy on the reader's mind.
Overall a great read, one of the best romance books I've ever read (and re-read) ❤️❤️
Back and forth banter turning into sweet romance makes this a read to get lost in and smile at by the end.
Scarlet needs to keep everything about her life on its best side if she wants to grasp her goals and head off to college. It wouldn't be as hard if all eyes didn't scrutinize her every move thanks to her older brother's mess up. Plus, she has the attitude of some other students at school to put up with. When she accidentally calls a guy with an amazing voice...and then, does it again...her life might take a very unexpected turn.
This is a super-sweet, high school romance set in New Zealand. It's written from two points of view, Scarlet and Levi, and slides between the two from one chapter to next. Both characters are wonderfully done, and both draw in with their warming personalities and quirks. The banter between the two make the chemistry complete and form a romance to root for.
While the book does center on the growing relationship between the two characters, there are also several tough themes addressed. Sexual harassment, PTSD, racism, suicide, and other themes come into play. None of them hit a graphic level, but they do slide into the story and give it an edge, which draws in naturally. So, the entire story flows very well. The only stumbling block is in several scene transitions, which jolt without any warning and took a second to realize what was happening. Otherwise, it's a cute story with fun characters, and something teen romance fans are going to enjoy. I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed it quite a bit.
“You deserve someone who would get you the moon” Aaaah!!!! I LOVED THIS BOOK! It had one of my fav tropes- Academic Rival to Lovers
The book deals with PTSD, Sexual Harassment, Depression, Addiction and Suicide... so make sure to check the TW before starting The chapters are quite short, which'll help you if you're in a reading slump, or planning to binge( no kidding, you definitely will!)
“The more time I spent in high school, the closer I got to committing murder.” I loved the banter between the MCs- how they had all the different things to talk about, from anything to everything, with all the quirky adorableness and chaos! I loved their banter
The book has dual points of View- which just made me love it more. It is a little slow-paced in the beginning, but the short chapters are the thing that'll keep you going. Also, brownie points because SLOW BURNNNNNNNN
One of my favourite things in the book was that how Love wasn't the ONLY thing in their mind. They had their own plans, ambitions, and dreams they wanted to work for! The supporting characters are well-written. And Levi- just a sauve! How can someone like him exist?! I mean yeah, but again...
Never judge a book by its cover they say, but deep down we are all sucker for pretty covers. So when I got this book, I was a little sceptical since am not a big fan of books with people on the cover. BUT BOY! I was so wrong!!! It was soooo goooooodddddd!!!!!
It's a YA Romance and stands by it! Recommend it to all!❤
Thank you @turnthepagetours and author @hash.tag22 for the review copy
This was a good story and I liked the rivalry and enemies to lovers aspect... but it just didn't stand out to me. It was a pretty quick read and the romance was cute but there wasn't much to the story and I just wasn't captivated. I usually like stories like this and it had fairly good reviews so maybe it's just me but IDK it just didn't hit.
