Paige recently opened an inn with her sister. She put a lot of her time and money to make this dream a success.
Spencer is a chef who learned more from experienced chefs, on the job, than any school could have ever taught him. Spencer has some big dreams of his own which is why he takes on extra jobs to build his savings account faster.
Since Spencer was hired to occasionally cater at the inn, he and Paige have constantly butted heads. But one day, a frustrated Spencer tired of waiting for Paige to give him a check for his catering work, goes in search of her to get paid.
Paige has completely forgotten about getting a check for Spencer. She can barely stop the tears from flowing. It's bad enough to have just turned 30 and her two younger sisters both having fallen in love first, but to have received a wedding invitation, on her 30th birthday, from her ex-fiance, that is just too much!
Between the two, Spencer and Paige, they come up with the idea to show up at that wedding. One, to make social connections to help the inn; two, to rub how happily 'fake' married Paige is now to Spencer in the face of that scumbag ex of hers.
The cost? One night together!
Spencer, who normally doesn't get overly invested in relationships finds kissing Paige becomes something he can't forget. And he wants a lot more than want they've already shared. The problem is, Paige seems to have cooled considerably. No more fighting with him. Nothing but polite civility. Where did the Paige go that's been driving him to distraction? Well, he's certainly not going to beg for her attention. Except...
Paige is not going to fall for another player that's for sure. And Spencer is definitely a player. After all, how can he flirt with every woman he meets, sometimes simultaneously, and be someone she can trust. She can't! It doesn't matter that his kisses make her cling to him and desperate for more. She should fire him. But how could she explain that to her sister, and the guest reviews always mention the food. Not that he does all the cooking but, to be fair, we are making Spencer's recipes. I just need to forget his touch and be politely civil and distract myself. Maybe get a dog.
I enjoyed the story, but it did have some predictability. I also found it a bit sappy and unrealistic at times. I adore Kylie's characters and writing however, this one, toward the end, just made me sigh in frustration that in real life this isn't entirely believable dialogue.
Sebastian and Paige’s love story in Chasing: A Grumpy Boss Romantic Comedy by Kylie Gilmore, book six in her Unleashed Romance series, is a story of two stubborn, bossy people who can’t get along, constantly butt heads, yet are more alike than not.
Paige and Spencer are two peas in a pod but they don't see themselves that way. Paige and Spencer are both in charge and take charge positions; used to being the boss, and wanting things their own way. They seem to constantly butt heads, and while that irritates Paige, Spencer is amused and looks forward to it. As they begin to see each other in a more “human” light, they begin to soften toward each other, getting along really well. I laughed whenever Spencer stated that he misses the sparring. Paige decides to foster a puppy and Bear is a major player in their relationship; with Spencer using Bear in his need to win Paige over. Whether they are sparring or getting along, they have off-the-chart chemistry and there are always sparks. While their relationship actually begins under false pretense, pretending to be married, they are both surprised to realize that there is nothing fake about their feelings; both wanting things to be real, though neither wants to confess that.
I enjoyed the story, but it did have some predictability. I also found it a bit sappy and unrealistic at times. I adore Ms. Kylie's characters and writing, however, this one, toward the end, just frustrated me, knowing that in real life much of the dialogue isn't entirely believable. Despite that, I still recommend Chasing to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series. Although it appears that the next couple is set, I am SO waiting for Audrey's story.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book
This is the next installment in the Unleased series and is the story of Paige and Spencer. We have met them both before in previous books. Honestly I wasn't a fan of either of them in previous books, but in this one I was surprised at their ability to be much more likeable! I was surprised at how nice and sweet they both were, especially with each other.
Paige and Spencer are two peas in a pod but they don't see themselves that way! They are both working hard to make their dream of having their own business come true. They are both in charge, used to being the boss and want to have things their own way. They butt heads constantly and while that irritates Paige, Spencer is amused and looks forward to it. As they begin to see each other in a more 'human' light and soften toward each other, they begin to get along really well. I chuckled because Spencer misses the sparring! Whether they are sparring or getting along, they have great chemistry and there are always sparks. While their relationship begins under false pretense, they are both shocked to realize that there is nothing fake about their feelings and they both want things to be real though neither wants to confess that!
Paige decides that she will foster a puppy and Bear is a major player in their relationship and Spencer uses Bear in his desire to win Paige over! It is always nice to visit with old friends and catch up on their lives. This story is a solid addition to the series and one that I liked much more than I expected because the characters were much more likeable that I thought they would be. Even though it appears that the next couple is set, I am SO waiting for Audrey's story! I love how she is slowly unraveling in each story - but don't miss Paige and Spencer!
Have you ever known one of those guys that are total jerks? Everyone else likes them but with you he’s constantly overstepping the boundaries & irritating you. Meet Spencer & Paige. Paige is running an inn that she owns with her sister & Spencer is the chef they’ve hired, except Spencer forgets that Paige is the boss. The dynamic between these two is so much fun. Ms. Gilmore has managed to write their relationship where the readers can see the attraction but also sense them fighting that attraction. Paige doesn’t want to acknowledge it. Spencer is positive it’s just short term chemistry & he can work it out of his system.
Ms. Gilmore has written another terrific story. It’s not a typical enemies to lovers story but that trope explains the dynamic best. Paige is determined not to give in but Spencer is going to take advantage of her ex’s wedding invitation. Each story in the series adds on to the prior but each can be read as a stand alone. The characters make appearances in each other’s books which expand their circle and add other relationships to the mix. This was another wonderfully written, entertaining story that will pull you in & keep you reading to the end.
A swoony sweet kind of steamy enemies to lovers tale
I loved Spencer and Paige’s story. In my opinion, for an enemies to lovers trope to work well, the author has to find a balance between animosity between the characters without tipping into meanness or abuse. Kylie Gilmore finds the perfect sweet spot in this book. Paige and her sister run a newly opened B&B in the small town of Summerdale. Spencer is a local chef who they’ve hired to cook at the B&B for special events and weddings. Paige and Spencer both want to be in charge all the time which causes endless friction between the two of them. When Paige receives an invitation to the wedding of her ex-fiancée, Spencer agrees to go with her as her fake husband. Thus begins the inevitable journey to their HEA. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, heart squeezing encounters, family support, painful pasts, and laugh out loud scenes. I love when real life issues are included in romances, it makes for more three dimensional characters and more well rounded and relatable storylines. I will definitely keep reading more of this great series.
Always innovative and clever, Kylie Gilmore continues to amaze with her wonderfully hilarious and heartwarming novels.
When Paige receives an invitation to her ex-fiance's wedding on her thirtieth birthday it calls for action. She just isn't quite sure how she decided she should show up with the one man she fights with constantly as her fake husband.
Chef Spencer Wolf is always right when it comes to food, even if Paige is the owner of the inn where he caters most of their events. When she asks him to be her fake husband at her ex's wedding he sees a whole different side of her, one he wants to see more and more of. And their one night together will be etched in his mind forever. But now Paige has become 'Miss Agreeable' and he misses sparring with her.
How will these two learn to get along when tragedy strikes Spencer's family and his dreams are crumbling around his feet?
I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.
Chasing is absolutely amazing! I didn’t even want to put the book down while reading. I absolutely love Paige and Spencer’s dynamic! From the very beginning all you want for them to do is stop their bickering and give in to the chemistry they have. To see the softer side of Spencer when he wants to help Paige out just makes you fall absolutely head over heals in love with him and completely changes your view of him. And Paige is everything you want in heroin. She’s smart, funny, independent, and loyal. To see her rise above what her ex did to her just makes you love her more. And her love shines bright when she’s there for Spencer during his tough time. The two of them are just awesome together. I cannot wait for the next book in this series I know it too will be AMAZING!
I can't wait to share Spencer and Paige's story with you! Get ready for a grumpy boss (or two) on a revenge wedding date that takes a wrong turn!
Paige The problem with Spencer Wolf is that he thinks he’s the boss when I’m the boss. I run the inn. He’s my consultant chef and caterer, as well as an arrogant confirmed bachelor.

This book right here will bring you all the feels, you'll love Paige, Spencer and yes Bear! 5 stars for this one! Paige is running the B & B with her sister, she just turned thirty and what does she get on that day? An invitation to her exes wedding, the one he left her for, what a birthday gift. She's watching her sisters fall in love, and friends, and she's wondering when she will get her chance. And then there's her chef, Spencer, who crosses her at every chance he gets, but when they make a decision for him to be her fake husband at her exes wedding, can they keep it friendly or will his charm and extra attention lead her to cross a line? Loved this story, I've loved each and every one in this series! If you haven't started it yet, what are you waiting for?
Spencer and Paige have always butted heads. Her being the owner of an Inn and him being the caterer and consulting chef for her Inn. When Paige gets an invitation to her ex's wedding she falls apart. He is marrying the woman he broke their engagement for. She gets a plan to go to the wedding with Spencer, a confident self assured Alpha male who is a bachelor to the core, to show her ex that she has moved on. Things turn romantic for Paige and Spencer, feeling as if he had taken advantage of her fragile state, Spencer leaves her asleep with a note apologizing. She thinks he means that he is sorry they slept together.
Can the two work through the misunderstanding> Will Spencer be willing to give up his single life? Another great book by Kylie Gilmore
I read a lot of fake relationship romances, and I love it when an author puts a unique spin on that trope. This time the spin was in the way Spencer views his fake relationship with Paige. I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that it was just adorable. He thinks early on that he is not chasing Paige (Get it? Chasing?), but he is lying to himself, bless his heart. Paige isn't much more honest with herself, and they get things pretty tangled up. Fortunately, there is a puppy to help them out, and there are lots of friends and family around, too. Their path to an HEA is very funny, a little sad, and definitely unique.
Get this book and enjoy this fun enemies to lovers love story!! Major sparks flow between this couple that can not be contained!! Paige and Spencer need to stop arguing in order to figure out how perfect they are for each other!! Paige, owner of a B & B inn and Spencer, who comes in and cooks for catered events need to learn to work together and discover the passion between them in order to get their HEA!! Revisit Summerdale and enjoy this red hot love story that will have you fanning the flames and enjoying this fun and beautiful love story!! Go grab your copy and enjoy this awesome love story!!
This book had a different spin on the "enemies to lovers" and "fake dating" tropes and it was just so much fun! Both Spencer and Paige are used to being in charge and when he is the chef at her B&B sparks and witty banter ensue. Add the blow of her former fiancé's wedding invitation, his family crisis and an adorable puppy and both of their softer sides emerge. There are definitely cameos from other characters in the Unleashed series (and I can't wait for some of their stories) but this can easily be read as a standalone (although you probably won't want to). Enjoy!
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Chasing is book 6 in the Unleashed series by Kylie Gilmore it is another fun and exciting story with some really great characters that you can't help but love. This was a story with a fur baby, some ex drama, family love, two people who butt heads and most definitely some love. Paige needs a date for her ex's wedding and who better than the arrogant Spencer Wolf the chef and caterer for her Inn. Spencer is surprised when Paige asks for his help when he is used to them just fighting all the time. Will this be a good idea or the worse mistake Paige has ever made? This is just the start to a really enjoyable story. I loved this book and I highly recommend it.
Spencer and Paige are constantly arguing about who's boss and anything else. But what happens when Spencer finds Paige crying because her ex-fiancee sent her an invitation to his wedding??? Well, of course, he decides he'd make a great fake husband. This is book size in Kylie Gilmore's Unleashed series. This is a great read. The characters, the storyline, the puppy... I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I recommend everyone of Kylie Gilmore's books as I have read them all and love each one!
Paige hired Spencer to be the chef at the inn owned by her and her sister. He's driving her nuts changing menus and doing things his way. She's the boss but he says he's the boss of the kitchen. Their arguments change into attraction after she convinced him to attend her France's wedding. They eventually compromise and have an HEA.
I enjoyed the banter.. Spencer had to learn to ask not order. Paige had to love him enough to overlook his bossy attitude and realise he ment he was taking care of her.
Not sure what to say, because this book is everything a great romance is supposed to be. Paige and Spencer run through a gauntlet of emotions, all the way to happy tears. If you're looking for a romance that catches you from the first page, and keeps you feeling until the end, then this is the book for you. There should be a category for books worth more than 5 stars, and this would head the list!
A cat and mouse game of over inflated egos, wounded hearts and irresistible romance that will tickle your funny bone on the way to melting your heart. Paige and Spencer are an odd couple in need of a serious wake-up call. Can they let go of their pride long enough to appreciate what's been staring them in the face all along? Gilmore uses adorable characters and unpredictable heart warmers to remind us that sometimes a little common sense doesn't hurt.
Wow! If you believe in romance and a fake husband story this book is one not to miss reading. Paige is the boss and Spencer believes he is the boss in the kitchen. Their humorous squabbling and sexual tension jumps off the pages. Paige and Spencer have great chemistry and support for each other. This is a very entertaining and heartfelt romance and I highly recommend reading this book. I received a free copy of this book and have voluntarily choose to review it.
The book started strong, with just amount of romantic tension to get you invested in Paige and Spencer. Somewhere along the way, about halfway, the quality of writing seemed to dip and it felt like I was being told what was happening. And what was happening was a speed run of a relationship, including trials and tribulations that were a quickly resolved with a little bit of deus ex machina. Good start, but the sudden acceleration to fairytale-speed to get to the babies and rings threw me off.
I did it again! I started reading a book without paying attention to who had written it. If I had, I would never had read this book!
I didn’t hate it. I dithered between 2 and 3 stars. Still not convinced Spencer won’t cut and run at the first sign of not getting his own way, although I suppose that was the point of the restaurant being at the inn: harder for him to leave when he goes back to acting like a 2 year old tyrant?
This was a sweet story about Paige and Spencer. Spencer worked for Paige at her inn as a chef when they had an elopement. These two are always arguing until Spencer finds Paige upset one night. When Paige tells Spencer why, he offers to help her. They both realize that while they have been arguing they actually have feelings for each other. This book was a fast moving book and these two were both stubborn to a point. Enjoying this series!
This was really a fun filled read. Paige is an organized, efficient, goal oriented Innkeeper. Spencer is a Chef whose goal is to own his own restaurant. He already runs his kitchen and moonlights at catering some events at Paige’s Inn. Lots of back and forth between them, some steamy scenes (but not too steamy) and Bear, a puppy no one can resist. Perfect reading for a weekend day. Thanks to the author and publisher for an e-galley for an honest review.
Paige & Spencer remind me a lot of Sydney & Wyatt in the beginning the way they constantly bicker with each other. We always know there’s more too it 😉
Of course there is a pet involved as in all the books of the series, but adorable Bear doesn’t necessarily steal the show like some of the other pets. Lol
I got drawn in because there was a dog. Overall I found it seemed like not much happened, but it was a nice enough story. There was one plot arc that didn't seem to get completed, when a customer leaves without paying and then gives a bad review, there was no follow up on that, it seemed unfinished. Spencer does some arm grabbing which is never okay in my opinion.
Paige and Spencer are strong bossy personalities, butting heads, and apparently setting up for a passionate relationship. I liked how quickly Spencer leaned into his feelings for Paige. Not to uncomfortable during the shake up part. Easy to read, scorching intimate encounters. Sweet romantic moments.
A fun and heartwarming story. This is Paige and Spencer’s story. I loved the characters and the connection. I absolutely love the banter and flying sparks. I was captivated from the beginning. I love getting more on the other couples. It’s a great addition to the series and not to be missed!
Loved this sweetly sexy, fun, laugh out loud and emotionally thrilling adventure filled with engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and exciting passion. An edge of your seat emotional roller coaster from beginning to end.
When 2 people want to be the boss & are hard headed, what going to happen is they full for each other. Love how each book is a stand alone but the other characters keep popping up in each book!
