A generous helping of Arnold Lobel's wonderful illustrations accompany little stories that often contain paradoxical concepts that give one pause. There is also some beautiful language, such as "the music was sad and joyous and it filled the quiet street and went out over the darkling trees and the whole world." (p.37)

I only knew the character from the old Free to Be You and Me album, but the book is great. A lucky find at a book sale!

This quirky collection of vignettes about a boy named Dudley Pippin made me laugh out loud. The stories are written in a unique style that is both funny and poignant, and each one is pleasantly unpredictable. This book is just right for an early elementary audience, to read independently or to hear read aloud.

Dudley Pippin is probably the most adorable boy storybook character I've ever encountered that if I had a son I'd very much like for him to be like Dudley.

Dudley Pippin is a really wonderful book - philosophical, imaginative, descriptive and realistic all at the same time. It tackles such big questions about life one at a time in two to three page anecdotes.

It's that kind of book that makes you want to read out loud wherever you are, makes you smile, makes you think about the loftier things in life, and restores your faith in humanity.

It's become my new favorite book and so now I'm looking to buy myself a copy that I can read again and again, and read to my children.
