Two teenagers are found dead in the woods near a burned-out car. The last thing they reported to the police is that there was a naked woman covered in blood in the car. However, the woman has disappeared without a trace. The search for the culprits brings Eric into the world of secret sex parties, corrupt police officers and ruthless hitmen. Eric finds herself on the trail of the missing woman and has to do everything she can - after all, she is an important witness - to deliver her to the headquarters in one piece. - At the same time, a shot rang out and Guus's head exploded in the middle of a sea of shards. A professional was at work here, Eric knew - EXCITING, SEXY, FUNNY, ACTIVE A series of books based on the film of the same title. The stories feature the characters we know from the legendary film Amsterdamned: Eric Visser, a detective with the serious crimes service, his now sixteen-year-old daughter Anneke, and his faithful companions Vermeer and Potter.

Once upon a time there was a Dutch movie director who wanted to make spectacular movies based upon the American style of moviemaking as in popcorn movies but with a Dutch origin. He delivered some excellent movies and one of those was the movie Amsterdamned about a serial killer haunting the canals and waterways of Amsterdam.
After his movie he always had the idea of making a series with the main characters but a wee bit modernised, it almost happened and fell through so the idea never materialised. Now the director and original writer of the movie has decided to bring Amsterdamned into the 21st century and try releasing a few books and perhaps getting a TV series along the way.
Having enjoyed the movie again on Blu-ray, a German release weirdly enough, I decided to get the book and see what's up actually.
The story is pretty straight forward and deals with corruption an sex parties involving influential people and the police in the person of Eric Visser has to find out what happened when they find two murdered young people who were apparently witness to a car accident in which a naked lady was involved. It makes for some interesting action scenes and some very Dutch scenery. I expect that these novels will never see a translation, but they are somewhat of a guilty pleasure reading.
Not a great book, but a first and looking promising for the second instalment.

I hoped this book would be the same as the movie amsterdamned, but it wasn't. Somewhere it lost its magic.

Qua plot etcetera is het allemaal wat voorspelbaar en ook de karakters zijn nu niet echt uitgediept. De typische Dick Maas humor (Snackkeet: De Snackbarbaar) en vertelstijl maken het echter toch en vermakelijk boek en waardig opvolger van de klassieke film.

Best een leuke lees, te vergelijken met de Baantjer boeken, met net wat meer Dick Maas saus. Ik heb de volgende delen al klaar liggen en ga deze snel lezen. Snel verhaal, maar goed te volgen. Aanrader.

Op zich een aardig boekje. Het heeft veel weg van de schrijfstijl van Baantjer.
