A collection of eight short stories by Bobby Nash, most previously unpublished for one reason or another.
Most of the stories have way too much set-up description - sometimes pages. Still entertaining, but not the quick "pop" I expect of short stories. The first story and the final two are the best of the collection by far. Fun, action-filled entries.
1. 85 North - the title story and a very strong lead-in to the collection. 2. The Road to Hell - An assassin goes off the ranch for a side-job. 3. Gypsy - A teenager decides to clean-up the streets as a superhero. The weakest story of the lot. 4. Magnus - Another teenager, this one inherits his grandfather's enemies as well as the family magic. 5. Beyond the Horizon - And another teenager decides to leave the safe haven of home and see what's beyond the horizon. (that's it - just him leaving home). 6. Blood Moon - A human gets pulled into a vampire vs. werewolf war. They are about to discover that humans have their own magic. 7. Primal Instincts - The jungle meets man inventions. 8. Showdown at Broken Eagle - A weird west story with scifi bent. One of the strongest stories.
