First, I must speak of one of the book’s coauthors, Pastor Adam McCain. From 2005-07 I attended Christ for the Nations Institute (CFNI) while Pastor Adam (P.A.) was the director. His preaching and leadership was dynamic and inspiring and I was privileged to be a part of one of the small groups that was the beginnings of his church plant, Church on the Hill (now Hill City). After getting married and moving away from the Dallas area, my wife and I didn’t imagine we would be a part of his church again, but in 2014 we returned to Dallas and joined again with Church on the Hill and got to be a part of the move into the building that they now call home. We were there for a couple of years before God led us to pastor a church in rural Wisconsin and we remained under Pastor Adam’s leadership as part of the fellowship of ministers he oversaw until God brought that to an end. All of this to say that we know from personal experience the character and leadership that P.A. exemplifies in all his life so when we heard he was releasing a book, We knew we had to get it.

Now, to the book. We’ve all experienced trials and disappointments and felt somewhat abandoned. The key word used throughout the book is obscurity. I had known aspects of Pastor Adam’s journey but he lays it bare in this book as he and coauthor Scott Silverii share their individual stories and struggles as they went from “riding high” to experiencing personal lows. This book will encourage you through those struggles where you may feel alone, left out or like you have fallen off track. If you’re in a place of current success, this book will prepare you and help you know that there will be seasons where God will lead you through obscurity but know that such a season is a blessing if you submit to God and allow Him to work in you through it.

I highly recommend this book! Let Pastor Adam and Scott be your guides through these seasons and know that the best is yet to come!

A good time of life to read this, how to navigate in one of those between phases of be, what they called periods of obscurity. Well done and to the point.
