My husband works with garbage trucks. This book was gifted to our son before he was born. I read it to him during one of his reading times. We are starting him early with the trucks/cars/trains/etc.

A realistic look into depression, low self esteem, and self-loathing. Who among us has not opened a bag of Cheetos with good intentions and ended up consuming the whole thing. When I commit gluttonous acts like this, the statement ‘I am a Garbage Truck’ this book makes so poignantly makes hits home with me. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a 2-liter bottle of Dr Pepper to consume.

This is a very sturdy book, that wont be easily broken in a classroom that is shaped like a garbage truck that introduces toddlers to what garbage trucks do. It uses very basic text for them to read, paired with bright, engaging illustrations to show trucks collecting trach and sometimes recycling. I noticed that it can work well to apeal young kids, and very simple education content. I can see why a lot of teachers wouldnt like it though because it is very basic andlimited in depth.

I read every day to my 2 year old grand daughter and she looks at the pictures as I read to her. She loves story time.

I think your little one will enjoy the story too.

My Review: Munchkin picked this book out as a reward for being such a good boy. He is obsessed with big trucks and particularly loves when the garbage truck comes up the street. This one being shaped like a garbage truck makes it all the more fun. I do like how it also features the recycling truck and distinguishes the difference between trash and recycling.

This little board book about garbage trucks and recycling trucks is actually shaped like a truck. It has about two sentances per page and is quite repetitive, so may be intended more for read-aloud than early readers. However, I could see it appealing to an early reader for sure. The puffy pages might wear down or break apart with overly enthusiastic handling, but after a month of fairly heavy use, it's held up well.

The book does explain the difference between where a garbage truck and a recycling truck go, so it could be used to talk about what recycling is. It definitely taps into the demographic of little children thrilled by garbage trucks!

This is a very simple book that is shaped like a garbage truck and basically covers the difference between trash that goes to the landfill (picture complete with seagulls) and trash that can be reused, which goes to the recycling facility. We've had this book for about a week now (Leo is currently 17.5 months), and no joke, we read it at least 10 times a day - most of the time with multiple back-to-back readings. He cannot get enough of it.

I personally did not like this book very much. It's a cute novelty book with sparse text. The nearly three year old reviewer however could not put this, or "I Am a Train", down. He LOVED them. He drove them around and kept asking, "what's her (the driver's) name?".
