Children ages 2-6 will love this adorable and interactive board book that encourages them to embrace their unique gifts and talents. Little ones will also learn throughout the story that God made each of us to be different, and our differences are what make us special. Allie the bunny can hop up and down, Lincoln the fox can run fast, Joey the giraffe can reach high up into the sky … but what can Tanner the turtle do? Feeling embarrassed by his lack of talent, Tanner pulls himself into his shell to hide. But when he emerges, he’s surprised to see his animal friends are amazed by what he can do. Turtle Finds His Talent :
In Turtle Finds His Talent, Tanner the turtle wonders why he can’t do things like the other animal friends.
Throughout the story, Tanner wonders why he can’t run fast like Lincoln the fox, jump like Allie the bunny, or reach up high in the trees like Joey the giraffe. His mother tells him that God made him special in other ways, but he didn’t feel so special.
I love how this story reveals that even though we may look different than others, or have different abilities or gifts, that God made us special in our own way and we all serve a purpose for Him.
And to make the story even more fun, this interactive slide-and-find book contains a page with a pull tab that reveals what is unique and special about Tanner the turtle.

I'm thankful for the opportunity from Netgalley to read Turtle Finds His Talent by Lucille Williams. Tanner the turtle is learning that each of his friends and himself have unique gifts from God that makes each of them special. It's a story to encourage children to embrace their different that make each of them truly so unique. The illustrations is very colorful and included in the book is a popup turtle for your child to enjoy which reading Thanks again for the privilege to enjoy this awesome children book and Turlte Finds His Talent will be available for purchase.
This large board book has adorable illustrations and a sweet message. The story by Lucille Williams is about a young turtle who compares himself negatively to his friends, wishing that he could do all the exciting things he sees them doing. He feels like he doesn't have a talent, and his mother encourages him and says that God made him special. Later, the turtle's friends are amazed to discover how he can go in and out of his shell, and the turtle realizes that everyone is special in a different way. Amanda Gulliver's illustrations are cute, soft, and charming, and one page has a pull-tab feature where you can make the turtle come in and out of its shell.
The faith-related message is very simple and straightforward, teaching kids that God made everyone special and has given people different talents. This will appeal to Christian families who are looking for cute animal books with positive messages, and it can be helpful for young children who are struggling with social comparison. Also, although the story has nothing to do with disabilities, this could also be helpful for special needs kids who are struggling with their differences and can't do all the same things as their peers.
Turtle Finds His Talent is a cute book that many families will enjoy reading repeatedly. The pull-tab doesn't always work perfectly, and some kids will need a parent's help with it, but even though the pull-tab will eventually wear out, it's a cute feature that will catch children's attention and drives home the turtle's excitement in discovering what he can do. With its fun special feature, cute illustrations, and positive message, this will appeal to both kids and parents.

My Review:
Tanner the turtle just couldn't understand why all of his friends had that unique quality. He often wondered what he could do that was unique and special And it wasn't until one when he felt particularly sad that he found out what he could do that was different than everyone else. Allie, Lincoln and Joey each could do things that Tanner couldnt. But it wasnt long before Tanner's friends learned about Tannr's special thing.
God makes us all unique and special. And we each have different talents and strengths that those around us dont possess. We should never feel sad or embarrassed about feeling unique. It is a special gift straight from God.

This is a very sweet book with soft, subtle colors and adorable illustrations! My daughter loves books about animals so this was an easy choice. She loved pointing at the various animal friends that Tanner the Turtle encounters. Each day Tanner discovers something unique and exciting that his friends can do, then returns home to ask his mom why he can’t do the same things. His mother lovingly and gently reminds him that God made him special in his own way. One day, Tanner’s emotions cause him to draw into his shell to cry and his friends cheer, thinking that is a wonderful talent, and obviously something they cannot do. As the result, Tanner’s self-confidence is bolstered and he discovers his own talent.
This book is encouraging and inspiring for little hearts and minds, reminding them that they are indeed special and created for a purpose. It is short, easy to read and offers one page that has a pull tab which allows Tanner to pop in and out of his shell in a celebratory move. It appears to be sturdy, though mine was a bit hard to tug for my daughter who’s four and required some assistance on my end. The book appeals best to toddlers and preschoolers.

Oh my goodness! What a sweet little book. As I read this book, I had a whole different perspective. I'm expecting my first grandchild, and I dream of reading books aloud to him like I did to my own children many ago. I love reading aloud, and this is a perfect board book for little ones.
Turtle Finds His Talent, Discovering How God Made You Special, is a wonderful book for the littlest listeners. I just love the childlike innocence of the illustrations. The loveable little animals do what they do best whether it be running or hopping or stretching up tall.
As a child, I often felt odd like the little turtle. There were so many things that I just couldn't do. This little book recognizes our differences and the gifts that each of us have. I loved that Momma kept encouraging her son, and his friends applauded his unique gift.
I will be happy to read this to my little grandchild.

Toddlers would love this adorable book that encourages them to accept their gifts and talents. Children will learn that each of us are made different, and our differences are what make us special.
This book was very cute and had a great message to kids. That even though we don't all have the same talents we are all special and designed just how we are meant to be. And we are all special!
The book was very colorful and had appealing pictures for kids to look at and it is also an interactive board book to provide entertainment.
Thanks to #NetGalley for a copy of this eARC. My review is my honest opinion given voluntarily.
Little turtle sees other animals doing what he cannot do. He can't understand why but with the help of his mother, he begins to see what he can do.
Our children need to know how much we love them.. not on what they can do but who they are.
A very sweet relational book about how God made each child special. Our job as parents is to help our children build confidence in the love of God. A turtle activity is included that will encourage children to be engaged in this important lesson.
A Special thank you to Zonderkidz and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
My 3 and 5 year old boys loved Turtle Finds His Talent. Tanner the Turtle is sad that he can't do things as well as his friends. Throughout the book his mother encourages him that he's special in his own way. Finally he discovers his own talent and is able to impress his friends! Adorable children's book with an important message. We really enjoyed the illustrations as well. This would be a perfect book for young readers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Zonderkidz for allowing me access to an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Making sure a child knows how special they are is so important and can be so hard when comparing to others. This book does a fantastic job of highlighting how unique everyone is, but just because you aren’t like them doesn’t mean you aren’t just as unique and special. Great read, and the pop up feature is so fun.
Thank you, Netgalley and Zonderkidz, for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My thoughts: TURTLE FINDS HIS TALENT is a cute story about a young turtle who is constantly comparing himself to his friends. Why can't he jump as high as rabbit? Or do other things his animal friends do? Mom encourages him that God made him special and he would find out why one day. The book has a special slide and glide to make the turtle hide in his shell and come out, but I had to give it a hefty tug to make it work. Cute story. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.
I won a copy of Turtle Finds His Talent, written by Lucille Williams and illustrated by Amanda Gulliver, from Goodreads.
A truly adorable Board Book for young children, Turtle Finds His Talent, written by Lucille Williams and illustrated by Amanda Gulliver, teaches children that not everyone is able to do some things and each person is special. Children will have fun helping Tanner move into and out of his shell. This book is sure to be one they request to be read again and again.
Tanner the Turtle and his mama remind us that no matter how much we realize that others may have talents or other things we might not have, God has blessed every one of His children with many things that we may take for granted, even small things! I loved this book and the simple message, with even cuter animal friends. – Emily, age 14
Wonderful message, great pictures and I can't get over how adorable the turtle popping in and out of his shell is! Excited to gift this to some younger friends, and thanks for sending an ARC our way for review, Zondervan!
