A Child Is Born

Rate this book
Two thousand years ago, in the tiny city of Bethlehem, the event that would forever change the world unfolded quietly in the most humble of circumstances. In all of history, Christ's birth was unique. Similarly, of all the holidays we celebrate, nothing can compare to the holiday that celebrates His birth. Holly and pine boughs, candles and ornaments, peace, love, and tradition all remind us of the ties that bind us to each other and to our Savior. Because of Christ's divine birth, family ties can literally become eternal. This Christmas, curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and let the chapters in this book guide you through the symbols of the season and the real story of Christmas. Interwoven with insights from the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible, the words of the prophets, and insights from the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, this age-old Christmas story will take on new meaning and new life like never before.

I read this book during the months of November and December. It is a beautiful book which chronicles all the events recorded in the scriptures leading up to the birth of the Savior, including the prophecies of the ancient prophets from the Bible and the Book of Mormon. This book shows how His Atonement is the true meaning of Christmas and that we can have that Christmas feeling every day of the year.

Good for reference material, not just the Christmas story.

Easy to pick up and put down since it's in sections, but not exactly light reading. What was fun for me was part of where I was reading was right when I was teaching that subject in Primary.
