The classic pamphlet. A how-to guide, tried and tested by countless groups across the world. An important document for anyone vaguely inquisitive, or seriously interested. Written by the Brazilian as a reaction to the failure of Guevara and the rural guerillas. This new edition includes two other documents by Marighella - Problems And Principles Of Strategy And Questions O ...more

You wanna make urban riot? Violent political campaign in your city? Then read this book... Not necesarilly applicable to your context, but hey at least you got the spirit

PS: The above actions may be legally considered as crime and severely punishable. Just don't say I never warned you

Outdated. I don`t think small cells would work in these days, only maybe during a foreign hostile occupation.

Some assertions are still accurate just piss off the government that much, that the government will be become more oppressive against the population. That will turn against the government creating more enemies. And that the government is making a fool of its self by blaming one person for every action against them, like now with Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda.

And of course: Be creative.

Read this and you can understand the terrorists goal. It's really as simple as that. Written by a failed revolutionary, but includes a philosophy you can see being used by all groups, religious and political, up till today.

It may be a classic, but at this point its more like a relic. Don't try this at home.

A trite attempt at a treatise and manual for guerrilla warfare.

A trite attempt at a treatise and manual for guerrilla warfare in 1962 Brazil. The author does not exhibit any deep understanding of military doctrine and a cliched understanding of Markist-leninist revolutionary theory. An insight into the mindset of the South American revolutionary of the 60s but no tactical value.

A pocket sized guide to urban insurgency. An interesting read.

When I first read this I really liked it, but that was a LONG time ago. Now it seems dated. I don't think his idea of cells operating in an urban environment would last long in contemporary cities, especially in places like the U.S. Also, the Marxist/Communist rhetoric gets real boring real fast. Makes me wonder what he'd think about the collapse of Soviet Union; same for college professors and citizens of Berkeley. But overall I still kind of like it. At least it gets the reader to think.

Pretty straight-forward and bare-bones. It is more of a list of things that happen in urban insurgency (bank-robberies, kidnappings, etc.) rather than a coherent theory or argument. One thing of note is that Marighella doesn't distinguish between terrorism and urban guerrilla war.

The urban guerrilla seen as a perfect marxist Superman/Wonderwoman: swimmer, climber, actor, forger, sociologist, medical doctor, chemist and sharpshooter. Unreal. Aaaa Superman, famme scenne che me sto a cagà' sotto...

Some of these old tactics are still brilliant and effective.

Old fashioned and out of date but a quaint read of a bygone era. Could also be called the Minimanual of Common Sense, too.

This seems rather hypocritical in several areas, but now I know the basics of waging urban guerrilla warfare (except for more recent technological developments)!
