You and me, we’re special. Meaningful. And I know it’s frightening. And hard. But the most rewarding things in life are. They’re scary. And strange. Not easy. But that’s how you know it’s the good stuff.”
Thank you, NetGalley and City Owl Press for providing me with an eARC. This is my honest review.

First, let me start by saying I loved Ms. Turner’s first book. I loved everything about it, from the characters, to her writing, to the story itself. I was so happy to get the ARC for this one becau

The threat of the sophomore slump curse hangs over every second book.
Is the world still exciting? Does this plot connect to the first book's yet have its own flavor and urgency? Does this couple have the same chemistry?

With Blood Sugar, the second installation of the Coven Daughters series, Turner kicked that curse to the curb.

Where the heroine of Hex, Love, and Rock & Roll was a relative newbie to magic, Eve, the heroine of Blood Sugar, has a more solid grasp on her abilities. As a matter of

Kat Turner, author of Hex, Love and Rock & Roll, has done it again with Book #2 of the Coven Daughters, Blood Sugar.

Eve works as a funeral home director who actually cares about her clientele, and rock-star Jonnie, who also happens to be a vampire, team up to defeat the evil spirit who wishes Eve harm.

Together, Eve and Jonnie are a pair to be reckoned with, and when they get together, the action is hot. Need I say more?

Be prepared for fast-paced action and some incredible magical twists!

Thank you City Owl Press and Netgalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The premise of the story is that Eve is a clairsentient mortician who is stalked by an angry spirit. She eventually meets a rockstar named Jonnie who wants to cure his vampirism. The unlikely duo work together to solve their own issues while uncovering dark facts about who is really causing a rise in dark magical incidents.

I really liked Eve’s character she was charming and funny and flawed. S

Kat Turner knocks it out of the park with this second installment of the Coven Daughters series, an imaginative twist on the classic vampire tale. Sparks fly between Eve, a clairsentient mortician who can talk to the dead, and Jonnie, the famous undead rock star who asks her to help him pass to the other side. Their off-the-charts chemistry progresses naturally to love scenes that deliver: super steamy with light kink thrown into the mix. Turner’s trademark descriptive and poetic prose takes the ...more

As a funeral directors daughter - Eve our spirit guide mortician charmed me from page one!

But seriously, this book was fantastic! I loved Hex, Love, and Rock & Roll but I LOOOOOOOVED this vampire romance follow up! I adored Eve and Johnny, and following their own journeys to battles their inner (and not so inner???) demons. It’s the perfect example of how we can have the hot and sexy romance with a hot vampire rock and roll star while also digging deep into their characters and going on a parano

Kat Turner is easily a one-click author for me and let me tell you, the second installment in the Coven Daughters series did not disappoint! Back again with her lush and immersive prose that I adore, Turner weaves an addictive and unputdownable tale that sinks its fangs into the reader. Filled with magic, hot, hot, hot romance, loveable characters, and a brilliant take on vampires, Blood Sugar is a must-read! Fans will fall in love and cheer for Eve and Jonnie from the get go and will be left br ...more

I admit to not reading book#1 in this series, but was easily able to slide in at book #2 and engage in this pre-built world without issue.

We join Eve, a funeral director who has the gift of being able to set souls to rest. There's some extra stuff she gets with that, hearing them, feeling responsible for them, occasionally making mistakes that end up sentencing them to a horrible afterlife, etc. It's this last bit that has her in a fragile state when Jonnie approaches her. You see, he believes h

Eve and Jonnie's Story . . .

I hadn’t read book 1 in this series which I’m disappointed about but what I find with this series is that there are different characters for each book but what I love is the paranormal and rockstar romance together separately they are great but together it makes my day. This is the story of Eve who is a Clairsentient Mortician and Jonnie is a vampire rockstar he wants Eve to end his life but Eve won’t she has enough problems with this angry ghost stalking her but I will let you find out what hap ...more

This book offers a unique take on vampires. There were several parts of the book that I enjoyed, however others I did not like. One of the parts I liked was Jonnie’s character development, he grew and accepted a new path forward. The story has a lot of details, for me it was way too many. The large amount of very descriptive scenes made it difficult for me to keep focused on the plot, especially the first 20-30%. The fact that vampires were being created medically and magical twist kept me readi ...more

As much as I enjoyed the book one in coven daughter series , hex , love , rock and roll , which was exceptional and set a very unreachable benchmark , that this book didn't reach. It was bland when it comes to the emotions , Jonnie was amazing , but eve felt toxic and inadequate.A balance of emotions between both the characters would have made the book much more interesting. The plot was very good and exciting , if given a few emotions to the mix , it would be an amazing read. Keeping in mind bo ...more

I wish I had read the first book because I feel like I missed some important things. I enjoyed the book but I will need to read the first to put this in better context. It was slow in some areas and great pace at others. I loved being able to visit Peru in this book because I’ve been there and loved it.

The characters were good and fleshed out but I was still left wanting more. I will revisit this review after I read the first book and this one again!

I loved everything about Jonnie. He isn’t a typical vampire but he is all Brit and man. Kat Turner’s Blood Sugar has perfect chemistry between Eve and Jonnie and I couldn’t put the book down when they were on the pages together. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes their romances heated, is a fan to the paranormal and likes a great chemistry between the h/h.
