Rachel Emery hadn’t planned on investigating a murder mystery again after her first and only experience solving a long-ago murder. But when her friend, romance writer Ariel Weathers, called her, frantic about her dead ex-husband stalking her, Rachel is too intrigued to refuse to investigate it.
As Rachel digs up information about Randall’s death, new twists and turns keep springing up, taking her in several directions. And when the original case investigator, Jack Meyers, joins in, they seem destined for choppy waters. Then a shocking new murder takes the two sleuths down yet another path that becomes more deadly by the minute.
What happened the day Randall went out for a cruise on his yacht? Did he die as they’d thought, or was he setting up a devious plan of murder?

I loved book #1 in this series, The Truth About Rachel, and was super excited that there was going to be more Rachel! Death Becomes You is even better, IMHO. Rachel is more confident in her character's role and has this sleuthing thing down.
This is a definite page-turner with lots of twists and turns as Rachel tries to figure out how and why Randall died. And why not throw in another murder, just for a bit more excitement? The introduction of Jack, the FBI guy who first worked the case, was a nice addition to the story and I can't wait to see them work together again. Maybe? Who knows?
This is a great series and I highly recommend it! The next installment is scheduled to be out next summer. Yay! Grab both books now so you're ready.
Not long after book cover designer/amateur sleuth Rachel Emery returns home from solving her first crime, an author friend requests assistance with a supposedly solved murder mystery. As Rachel dons her private investigator hat to help out, truth is stranger than fiction in this page-turning novel filled with action, adventure, and even a little romance. If you enjoyed The Truth About Rachel, you'll definitely like Death Becomes You.
This book was good and keeps you guessing about the mystery. I did not like it as much as the first story though. My main prob was it just didn't make sense. The main character is a graphic artist with no background in investigation but she goes to all these places and people and they act like she has authority and tell her things. Also the detective should have told her to stay away but he actually brings her along to dangerous situations. This story just didn't have plausibility. The author needed a better reason to have her mixed up in this case.
Once again she has written an amazing book. The story of Rachel and her mysterious adventure keeps you reading. Very hard to put down and is an excellent story. The characters are so believable and seem real. After living with a crime scene specialist for many years, I know these stories can be real. Excellent book you will have a hard time putting down.
Again, a good mystery/crime novel when the author doesn’t normally write this type of book. I will say some of it is unbelievable… like who would actually talk to a random man person investigating a crime when they aren’t law enforcement or professional investigators? I wouldn’t, but I guess that’s how books can be different than real life. The ending was a bit different than I expected, but not a total shocker.
I won't rehash the storyline as you can read the synopsis. I will say that I figured it out about halfway through, and it bothered me that someone promoted to police lieutenant supposedly missed so many things that a book cover designer figured out.
Worthy of its predecessor, this story has twists until the end. Although I guessed who the killer was, it was still fun finding out what trouble Rachel would get into next. And finding out if handsome FBI agent would end up in an old fashioned fuel with handsome lieutenant. Very fun read!
Odd death/stalker/twins convoluted plot elements with a confusing abundance of clues and red herrings, as well as an unattached lead detective who takes a shine to Rachel.
I read this book in one day! It was fascinating as I anxiously tried to predict who the real bad guys were. And always with mention of Rachel’s normal life with her daughter, her aunt and her special man ~~ A good read!!!
The book was a good read. Liked how it all came together. Especially Rachel’s love life. Wondering if Rachel will continue investigating because she is good at it.
This second book in the series was good, but not as good as the first one. Too many characters, unrealistic plot and too predictable. I figured out the murder scenario in the first chapter.
