Stop treating your work and your life as separate.
Work shouldn't be a burden that takes place outside of your “real life.” It should, and can, be a source of happiness and authentic meaning―if you work from the inside out. In The Full Body Yes , LinkedIn’s Head of Mindfulness and Compassion Programs Scott Shute shows how the evolution within companies lies in the evolution of ourselves. After all, a company is the sum of its we decide where, how, and why we work.
Through a four-step action plan, Shute demonstrates how the journey to a working life of happiness and authentic meaning is fueled by compassion. Through guided activities to cultivate compassion for yourself and others, you’ll move toward a work lifestyle that allows you
● discover what is important to you, so that you can spend more time doing just that ● recognize and empower the deeper part of yourself ● measure your success by your own happiness ● allow yourself to develop and evolve at work ● love and serve all of life (including yourself)
Everyone deserves to do work that makes them happy, and to find happiness at work. With compassion, we can all get there.
The Full BodyYes takes you on an intimate journey of both personal and business stories exploring the mindsets and challenges of individuals in business, during their careers, and while working in or leading teams. The story shed light on many of the issues in workplaces today and how to address them, explored the root of challenges individuals face in aligning work purpose with personal values, and how leaders can (and must) build mindfulness into the environments for optimal success.
Although the mission of leading mindfulness and compassion in a workplace seem intangible, Scott masterfully takes us on with him on a journey to develop the necessary skills in recognizing the choices or paths we as individuals take, whether at the employee, leader or human level, and shares exercises to help unravel unhealthy behaviors, stress or challenges faced in teams today to build a healthy mindset within organizations.
Written unlike most business books, I was immediately drawn in by Scott’s storytelling, but found myself wondering where is this going, how will these stories help build compassion or show the way?
By the end it all came together, each story, each experience pulled together and I knew exactly what needed to be done, the book in it in self is the “Full Body Yes”, leaving you with the simple insights and tools that will make change possible for your employees, teams, and business. And also for yourself.
“Changing your work and your world from the inside out” whether you’re just starting off in your career or leading an organization, this book is a game changer and a delightful read.
A wonderful gentle reminder that came just at the right time for me. Gratitude. Choice. Love. Repeat. It including of Hafiz and Rumi quotes were especially delightful and relevant to the chapters. I felt at home within the pages of this book.

I loved this book! Scott shares his own very compelling story laced with humor and humility. His writing style is so engaging, and while he weaves research from different fields, it is never dry or didactic. Scott doesn't shy away from sharing his own struggles, questions, and doubts, making the book all the more real and relevant.
Scott is proving that our work can be a place for learning about ourselves and leading compassionate and fulfilled lives. As someone mid-career, it gave me a timely boost in thinking about my life and work and what I want from it. Equally, I feel it could inspire those who are younger making career decisions and wanting to design a passion-filled working life.
A great book that gives me hope for the future of our world and organizations, businesses and corporations that see and fill the need for mindfulness, meditation and compassion in the workplace. Scott's writing form grabs you from page one and carries you through to the end - with interest, relatability, heart, humor and authenticity.
Scott, thank you for sharing your strengths, stories, wisdom, insights, practices, successes and challenges in your personal and professional life!

And heart opening in it's depth of how the author found his calling in life to share ways we all can view and experience life from a more grateful and compassion manner. Would recommend this highly to those looking to find a more meaningful way to express yourself at work, and in general. I'm looking forward to reread it!
This is an inspiring book. The creative approach of telling stories that spark recognition and insight is magic. Giving the reader a roadmap to operationalize compassion, vulnerability, and inner power is the gift you can expect from this book. I will be recommending and referencing this book in my own coaching, leadership consulting, and life!
Loved every page and story that Scott shared. And especially the message and mission to change work and world one compassion act and story at a time. Have been a fan of Scott’s work as I get to see him in action over the years and his approach and humility has been a strong force for my own journey. The last line in the book is a fantastic lesson in self compassion: I am still in progress :)

The author is a great storyteller, I heard the audio version of the book, and his voice made feel he was next to me telling each story, like an old new friend. I could see myself in each story, I learned, I reflected, I have this feeling that I can to explore more this path of finding my own Full body yes moments!
I am not a regular mindfulness practitioner. The book opened an intriguing window into this practice with engaging stories and practical advice that I can try. Highly recommend the audiobook version. Stott is a fantastic speaker. His voice adds another dimension and personal touch to the stories.
Many of us have read our share of self help books, some a fantastic inspiration, others not so much. Scott’s work is a masterpiece of practical advice and spiritual insight, woven together by a wonderfully creative series of anecdotes, scientific studies, and parables. I highly recommend, the universe agrees.
Loved this book. I saw myself in so many of the stories. Full Body Yes is brimming with wisdom for those who want more out of work and life. Shute’s format of short personal stories is so digestible - his lessons sunk in more than those of other books in the genre I’ve read.
I really wanted to like this book: I had a hard time connecting to the format, style (random stories without strong ties across the stories), content, and layers of privilege that influence how this book was written and what it shares.
An inspiring read, Scott speaks from the heart. In clear prose he speaks of compassion and of dreams and of finding the path to living your own wild and precious life in a way that feeds your soul.
Beautifully written, with life lessons and learnings taught through short vignettes. No matter who you are, where you’re from or what you’re going through, everyone can take away something positive from this book. An easy, feel good read!
