Charlotte is an aspiring medical school student, but she's determined to earn her tuition the hard way—by working two jobs, including one cleaning houses at night. When she meets world-renowned surgeon, Doctor Dean "The Messiah of Medicine" Fletcher, at her college graduation, there's a spark between them that quickly turns into an uncontrollable passion. Dean recognizes Charlotte's talent for healing and is determined to put her through medical school on his dime. Charlotte refuses to accept his "charity," however, or his request to quit her job. And thus begins a cat and mouse game between student and teacher that leads to the most delicious of negotiations...but what happens when only one of them can get their way?
First let me say how much I marvel at this author for packing so much into so little amount of pages. I feel like I have read a complete book with her novellas.
This one was so so for me. I am not into Daddy kink but I enjoyed the storyline immensely. The attraction between Charlotte and Dean was palpable. And the amount of research and details written related to the medical field was incredible.
Jessa Kane is a very talented writer and storyteller. She will continue to be one I read.
This is a different kind of JK that I can enjoy. An h who keeps saying no and while the H is still obsessed, he’s just as obsessed with her brain as he is with her looks. Because what? Nothing is sexier than a man who appreciates a woman’s mind.
Can you imagine having a surgeon for a lover? If only for their beautiful hands.
This is the 3rd book in less than a week where he took her v card with his fingers. 🤔👀🙈
This is fiction and for that sake I’m going to ignore the fact that a 32 year old is considered one of the best surgeons. I’ll also ignore the fact that he’s this in demand hotshot that appears to have all the time in the world to do whatever he wants. We’ll just ignore all that, mmmkay?
Charlotte finally gets to meet her hero and dream man Dean a brilliant doctor she has a mini convo with him telling him her dream is to be a doctor but she has to put it off because she's broke but she's working and saving. That doesn't sit well with Dean since he already sprung and tries to offer her money which she took the wrong way. But he does hire her lol to clean his place.. its alil back and forth between them but he still wants to support her.. some misunderstanding causes them to fight.. and have a mini Seperation . But it doesnt last long.
No ow/om drama, no cheating, sexy times, virgin gal and no manwhore

"Daring the Doctor" is the story of Charlotte and Dean.
Heroine is an aspiring medical student, who meets the hero- a world renowned surgeon- and sparks fly. She has always revered him, he reciprocates the attraction when they meet. He then tries to court her, but the hero refuses to let anyone aid her struggle, due to past trauma. How they get over her inhibitions, while having coitus like bunnies and indulging in some daddy play forms the story.
I have to be honest- I do not like doctor smut being one myself- but this wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be. Romances about my profession still give me heebies lol. Anyways, enjoyed it.
Another perfect Jessa Kane book. This one was a little different since our heroine actually fought her feelings for a while.
You have a filthy rich surgeon hero and a dirt poor heroine who wants to be surgeon, but she doesn't want help. She won't take money from a man.
This was a good daddy kink, not too far like they sometimes go. On to the next, man I think I have like 20 more to get caught up on the backlist..... And I'm going to enjoy every one of them.
I feel like it's only fitting that I finish my yearly reading challenge with a JK novella, bc it's now a staple in my routine.
I ended up reading an unnecessary amount of novellas this year- they really kept me going 😭- and I'm happy to say that it applied to this book too. It was the usual: it was so weird that you couldn't help but love it.
I’m a big fan of hers, she gets five stars from me more often than not, but for some reason this one just didn’t quite do it for me. Maybe I didn’t care for the heroine. Maybe the hero wasn’t obsessed enough. Maybe the smexy times weren’t hot enough. I just can’t put my finger on it.
Still, it’s absolutely a four star read that I enjoyed and would recommend. Jessa Kane has just set a very high standard for her fans.
Romance genre: insta-love Part of a series: no Length: 64 pages
Plot: Charlotte is about to graduate from college when she meets Dr. Dean Foster. He's the speaker at her graduation, and a famous transplant surgeon. She's been following his career, as she would like to be a doctor also. She knows it will be a while before she can go to medical school, though, since she doesn't have the money and she refuses to borrow the money and be indebted to someone. Dean falls for her immediately, but when he tries to contact her and offer to pay for medical school, she declines. He doesn't understand - he's in love with her (or something like it) and he knows, from reading papers she's written, that she's brilliant and will make an amazing doctor. He finally hunts her down but can't convince her to give in. How will he make her his?
Character development: While I like a heroine who stands up for herself and can be independent if she has to, sometimes it can go too far, and I felt that way about Charlotte. Because of her past, I understand why she didn't want to take out loans, but honestly, nobody, unless they are independently wealthy, is able to pay for something like medical school without a large scholarship or loans. Obviously, there will be someone who says, "nuh-uh, I did it." Okay, good, but most people in this country have to take out loans for school. It sucks, but it isn't the demon Charlotte made it seem. So I was glad at the end of the story when her mother was like, "no sweetie, I didn't mean to warp your entire understanding of life and men and everything. Go ahead and date the rich guy."
I know I’m writing this review 4 months after I’ve read the book but…anyways! 🥴🥴 I absolutely loved Dean! He was a sweetheart and overprotective!? 😳😳 I’ve got mixed feeling about Charlotte. 🫤🫤 Sometimes she was relatable and sometimes she was ABSOLUTELY ANNOYING! 🙄🙄 I’ve said what I’ve said and nobody can change my mind. 😤😤 She is the only reason it’s 4 stars instead of 5…just saying. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ I mean come on I hate when there is a misunderstanding. You have a mouth for a reason…use it! 😵😵 Anyways…I think I’ve covered everything. ☺️☺️
Didn't like how the story flowed. Like I missed some of the events that happened, getting only references to them made by the characters. Nothing against the author. She's written some good ones. But this felt like haphazard writing, slapping together scenes but no transition in between.
I'll read anything Jessa Kane writes because in the world of short, smutty content, she ticks my boxes. While for obvious reasons a novella of this nature is never going to have oodles of character development and loads of plot - it's not meant to - I do appreciate that this author does give us a variety of settings. Her books don't always feel like rinse, repeat - although some do. I appreciate the attempt at range.
Anyway, this was fun. Although I was surprised by the typos.
I have been quietly obsessed with auther Jessa Kane the last few months. Her stories are always emotionally powerful and filled to bursting with over the top alpha males, strong, intelligent females, and swoon inducing literary landscapes containing addictive plots and deliciously kinky subject matter.
This book is no exception and is another stellar example of why I love this author so much. "Daring the Doctor" is truly a panty melting gem to behold!
If you like Kane's stalker series books you will love this one as it ups the "you are mine" anty even more. Creating a story so sizzling it will leave you sweaty and parched. And despite not being into the Daddy/Little dynamic (it's just not my kink), there is something in the way Kane writes these characters that instantly drew me in.
Here she gives us the tale of Dean and Charlotte, Charlotte being a new college graduate with dreams of becoming a surgeon. A young women determined to work her way to medical school and beyond. A woman striving to learn as much as she can from the dreamy doctor she both idolizes for his medical brilliance and fantasizes about endlessly. And the decadent doctor himself, Dean, a high powered, thirtysomething surgeon considered a god in his field, worshipped by many as much for his well built and roguish sex appeal and brooding, growling demeanor, as he is for his surgical genius. A man who unbeknownst to him, is about to meet his match in every unexplored dark desire way possible when a chance encounter at the university's graduation ceremony brings him and Charlotte face to face.
What follows is an instant powder keg of chemistry. A connection between two people so outrageously hot it threatens to consume them both completely.
The absolute tunnel vision Dean embraces in his pursuit of Charlotte is insane. The height to which Charlotte is willing to take her life altering "I must do everything on my own" stubborness almost maddening. It is a pairing that creates a relationship battle so stunning only a John McEnroe-esque tennis court temper tantrum could possibly, maybe match its intensity. Never have I been so smitten by a Daddy pursuing his other half.
Kane's writing here left me completely helpless and unable to resist the charms of her outrageously obsessive alpha male and how he doggedly pursues his woman. It is beyond yummy and a definite must read!
3.5 stars. This was a short smut fest, and I loved it. Jessa just really knows hot to get me all hot and bothered with her filthy mind.
I’ve noticed that all the books she’s put out recently have some small ‘Daddy’ kink aspect, and this one was no different. Though. I’d say this is one of the mildest of the bunch. Charlotte calls Dean ‘Daddy’ a couple times, there’s some power play, a moment where bondage is alluded to, rough sex, and a tiny bit of role playing dirty talk, but no age play and its not leaned on very heavily throughout. All that to say that the sex is super hot and filthy.
Honestly my biggest gripe is that I wanted more. Not to say it didn’t feel complete though. Less than 70 pages and I still felt like it was a full on story with a satisfying ending. I’m just greedy and didn’t want the dirty bits to end.
I'm always excited to get a new release from Jessa Kane. This one was steamy as usual, but not my favorite from her. I can't pinpoint why, but I think the heroine kind of got on my nerves a few times. While the two main characters did have chemistry, I was just missing something from them. I think it was the actual charm that makes me believe these two are in love with each other and meant to be instead of just lust.
As usual, she threw in some daddy kink and I'm always happy about that. Along with that, she pushed one scene close to taboo and it was something I didn't know I needed. . I know that's not going to be for everyone.
All in all, another smutty read from Jessa Kane and I'm already anticipating her next one.
Finally a Jessa Kane romance with a level of daddy kink that I can handle. But why did this story have to be so terrible? Cannot deal with FMC who reject help for no reason, especially when they are supposed to be smart. Look - her reasons of being suspicious were fair enough. But seeing as this is Insta love, it makes no sense that she loves him but doesn’t take his help. I just really hate that as a storyline.
