She owes her life to Alex, and deep down she knows he could not have killed his mother. But as more new evidence comes to light, Kylie begins to question everything she knows about the man she loves. Yet another page turning book by this author. I'm so glad I stumbled upon her. Picking up where book 1 left off, you'd think K & A would catch a break, but nope the drama just piles on more, not lessens. This may of been half the size of the first book, but with double the action your head will be spinning from everything going on from cover to cover. That and your emotions will give you whiplash trying to keep up and put the pieces together. Yet again there's an ending that will leave you reeling and desperate to get your hands on the next book. Can't wait and highly recommend this series.
If you haven't read the first book of this series Malevolent, STOP and go read it first. Even though the prologue is right where we left off you will definitely get more out of the story if you read the whole thing.
The horrific events of the last book are reignited in this one right from the start. Kylie has survived both being shot and the coma but has pretty severe PTSD from it, including nightmares. Repeatedly she asks Alex if John is gone. Alex's response is always the same, forever.
Even though Kylie is better, Alex is distant, he's still the loving Alex but all the intimacy is gone. Granted the whole incident brought back some painful memories for him, but instead of facing them he is withdrawing. He's also keeping things from Kylie, not really intentionally, but as she discovers them they hurt her deeply.
To top it all off their trying to exonerate John Wells, Alex's father who was convicted of his mother's murder years ago. The twist, they're trying to pin it on Alex.
They go to NY to visit with friends Paul and Ryan, this visit helps both Kylie and Alex re-center themselves and they finally talk when they return to Alex's apartment.
There's still something major that is being held back from Kylie and that is one surprise she didn't need to find out by herself.
There is so much tension from many fronts in this book. Friendship is of great importance and things between Alex and Kylie have several ups and downs and some sizzling heat.
The ending of this one shocked me and now I need the next book!
Anne L. Parks picks up book two in the near aftermath of the ending of book one. It was the perfect move from one book to another.
Kylie is now recovering from a gunshot wound and a major concussion by her stalker John Sysco, ex-boyfriend and a lawyer at the law firm where Kylie worked. As we watch Kylie recover we can see how Alex has become even more protective of her.
Feeling positive that John Sysco can never hurt her again, Kylie starts to make arrangements to go back to work. Going back to work doesn’t mean she will be going back to the firm she worked for, as there were people at the firm that supported John and his stalking of her. Not having made a full decision Kylie is asked by the current DA to take a job as independent council retrying a case the appellate court reversed, the defendant in the retrial is none other than Alex’s father, James Wells.
With the suspense, drama, betrayal, stalking and almost every emotion you can think of this book had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The story flew by and before I knew it, book two had ended…very much looking forward to book three to see how this all ends for Kylie and Alex.
I’m trying to sort out how to say this in the nicest way possible, but I am just going to have to just spit it out. Revenge was a struggle for me. I enjoyed Malevolent but Revenge, not so much. Any book that takes me over a week to read I know I am in trouble and I really did struggle to finish this one. Here’s what didn’t do it for me: the main characters.
I liked the story and the premise behind it. It picks up right where the previous book left off at and is fast paced with all sorts of crazy twist and turns. The mystery was spot on, but I just didn’t care for the characters this time around. Crazy right? Really it was Alex that did me in. Some of his actions didn’t sit well with me in the previous book. This time around, I liked them even less. I knew immediately he wasn’t telling Kylie the truth about the night she was shot and despite knowing it was a vital part of the story, I just couldn’t get over it. As for Kylie, I guess as a lawyer I expected more from her on figuring it out. I just kept thinking; you are a LAWYER! How could you not investigate it yourself?!
I’m committed to finishing this series so maybe, hopefully, the final book in the series will bring me back to the happy place I was after I finished the previous book. Fingers crossed.
Stars: 2.5 I received this book from SBR. I was not compensated for the book other than the entertainment it provided. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
5 ⭐'s Wow! This trilogy just keeps getting better and better. This is the second book in the Kylie Tate series. The first book has to be read first. Malevolent ended in a breath-stealing cliffhanger but thankfully all three books are already out so we don't have to wait. After being seriously injured at the end of the last book, Kylie thinks her stalker is dead. She is now helping the prosecution convict Alex's father who supposedly killed his mother and left Alex alone with her while she died and he couldn't save her. There are elements in the plot that have all but destroyed Kylie's trust in Alex. She is also suffering from PTSD. I really don't want to give too much information because I truly believe it is a much better experience if you go in blind. This book, just like the first, acted like a magnet. I never wanted to put it down. I love when books have that quality. I can’t wait to dive into the final book and see how the author will bring all the issues to a close.
This is the continuation of Kylie and Alex's story. There are so many twists and turns. Like the first one, it is suspenseful, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and this one will leave you mad. The couple is fighting hard to stay together, but things keep coming in-between them. Will they ever find peace?
Kylie was shot by her deranged ex-boyfriend. She's slowly getting back to normal and wants to go back to work. She goes to visit Matt, the current District Attorney, about Mr. Wells appeal. "So, here's what I propose, you will be appointed as special prosecutor— you'll take the lead, and I'll second chair, he says to her.
Alex's sperm donor is stiring up trouble. He is appealing his first degree murder conviction. "What's this all about? Why, after all these years, is he coming back into our lives? Why the sudden interest in this case?" Alex is glad that Kylie will be the lead prosecutor in this appeal.
This story begins after the last one ends. I can't give many details but there are so many twists and turns. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure everything out. Kylie and Alex's relationship is strained. The big cliffhanger from the last book affects their relationship. Alex is distant and Kylie is hurt by the lack of trust. He keeps her in the dark about things and she doesn't like that at all. They are still both fighting hard to stay together. But again it goes back to trust and Kylie isn't the type of woman that wants a man taking care of her she wants a partner. This is the main problem between them. I can't wait to see what happens in book three. Can these two make it through everything and come out of the other side together? Or will the fact they are both alphas and the lack of trust be the end of them? One-click the second book in this series today!
OH MY HELL! I'm so glad that I had all three of these books, and let me tell you, I totally read them all in one day because I couldn't stop for anything. Revenge is the second book in Kylie Tate's story, so don't even get a wild hair & start here, YOU MUST READ Malevolent (Book 1) FIRST! A lot of the time when an author writes a trilogy, the second book can slow things down before the explosive conclusion, but not in this instance, everything was even bigger! I'm telling you, I dropped so many f-bombs from all the twists & turns that I probably should have had my mouth washed out with soap LOL! There's so much going on here & it's crazy intense with new dangers out of control for Kylie, and this is why I'm totally vague here because you just need to experience all this goodness for yourselves so you know what to do! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and Kylie’s story continues straight on from where #1 ended. Kylie though that her stalker and sadistic ex-boyfriend was finally out of her life, but he is back, and he is focused on revenge. When Kylie finds out that Alex’s father’s appeal for a new trial has been approved, she is determined to get on the prosecutor’s team to foil any chance of him being free after what he did to his wife while he made Alex watch. As new evidence comes to light, and secrets revealed, Kylie is left questioning if she actually knows Alex at all, and what is the truth? This is a fascinating story which is filled with secrets, revenge, emotions, twists, trust, intrigue, drama, and suspense. I was intrigued and hooked throughout his riveting page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.
A nail biting part two in the Kylie Tate series. Kylie is recovering from being shot by her ex-boyfriend and thinks she is safe and that he is dead. When Alex's father appeals his conviction for murdering Alex's mother, he is granted a new trial. It's a trial that Kylie is determined to prove that Alex's father is guilty of his mothers death, but evidence begins to emerge which uncovers secrets which causes Kylie to question what she thinks she knew about Alex. When you add that Kylie discovers Alex lied to her about her ex-boyfriends death, you can feel her fear when yet again her life is threatened and now she doesn't know who to trust. Really looking forward to a thrilling finale to this series.
FIRST, BE WARNED: This is Book 2 in this Romantic Thriller Trilogy, but is actually a reissue of Ms. Parks's Tri-Stone Trilogy, which consists of "Of Demons and Stones," "Revenge" and "Vindication.". The Tri-Stone Trilogy is one of my all-time favorites, so if you haven't read it, I highly recommend reading this new edition, especially since the original trilogy is no longer available for Kindle. Each book ends in a cliffhanger, and you will need to read all three books to get the whole story. Well worth it though when all the books are available.
5 stars for the actual story; 1 star for not making it well known that it's a reissue.
The second book in this series is more intense and pulse pounding than the first one with a romance that really tugged on my heart. Revenge has really got to be one of the best second books to any series I have read. I love the action and suspense and how Kylie is a strong and fierce heroine who digs deep to find the truth. I think I had a slight girl crush on her with this book and there aren't too many heroines I can say I had a crush on. This book was amazing and I am excited to get my hands on the third one!
Alex and Kylie's story continues. After her coma, she is in recovery and just trying to figure out what her life looks like. She decides to go into private practice and is brought on as special prosecutor for her first case as a private lawyer.
Alex must deal with the the ghosts of his past as his father is up for a new trial with some additional information regarding the murder of his mother.
Kylie is still be stalked, and no one knows what is going on.
It ends in a cliffhanger that leaves a few questions that i hope will be answered in the next book.
While I really liked book 1 this one just didn't do it for me. I got to see more of Kylie being a runner and keeping secrets from Alex and Alex continuing to beg for her forgiveness for whatever s/he did wrong. It got old after a while. They could have the trial and the John stuff but have their relationship be solid. The secondary characters are nice but I was suspicious of anything done. The ending is again kinda a cliffhanger. The very epilogue is very telling about the next in the series
I did listen to this on audio. The narration is nice.
This is the second book in the Kylie Tate Romantic Thriller trilogy. I love this captivating series! Kylie and Alex’s story continues where the first book left off. Their love story has some ups and downs. There is a lot going on in this installment. The storyline has it all: suspense, mystery, danger, romance, and twists and turns. This is an excellent thriller. The story ends with a cliffhanger. Raquel Beattie and Orcus Auditory did a fantastic job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to Vindication, the last installment in the trilogy.
Better buckle up for a bumpy ride! Revenge picks up where Malevolent ends and, it too, ends in a cliffhanger (as an introduction into her next book in the series). Anne L. Parks is masterful as she weaves another tale of suspense and romance. All the characters from Malevolent are back --- the good and the bad. But sometimes the lines between good and bad, right and wrong become blurred. This author has written another exciting book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. 5 stars
Book 2 of this series is even more exciting than Book 1. A thriller you won't want to put down. An emotional story between Kylie and Alex, both with overwhelming demons and pasts coming back to destroy them. Is Kylie going insane and is Alex keeping secrets? A must read. Looking forward to the next book in this series. A sure fire winner for Ms. Parks.
We find Kylie recovering and thinking about over and over the final words of her ex's. She also finds life will get even crazier. Still a killer out there. Also she wants on the team prosecuting James. The thing though is the lies that might have been told by Alex. Turn the pages to see if she finds the truth and outcome of it all.
The book was well written and had all the great twists and turns of the previous book, however the lack of character development (I'm looking at you Alex) was highly disappointing. The lack of honesty, which initially thought to be fixed from the first book, made the overall plot feel forced until the left shoe dropped and we (the readers) got more information.
I loved the dual narration of Raquel Beattie and Orcus Auditory
Kylie’s story continues straight on from where the first one ended. This is a fascinating story which is filled with secrets, revenge, emotions, twists, trust, intrigue, drama, and suspense.
I was eagerly awaiting this book as it was the second in the series and took up the story of Kylie from where we were left in Malevolent. The book certainly did not disappoint. Plenty of courtroom drama and nail biting excitement. Fantastic chemistry between Kylie and Alex. I am looking forward to the next book in the series
