This is a how-to-do book on arming yourself for spiritual warfare. This book is excellent for group or individual study guide in teaching what the Bible says about the spiritual warfare that we often confront in battling against Satan. I recommend this book to all Christians.

I haven't read much by Mr. MacArthur, but from this book I gather that he is an opinionated man. There's nothing wrong with opinions - we all have 'em - but it gets tiresome reading opinions that attack others in a "how to" book. Mr. MacArthur makes some good Biblical points, but, ironically in my opinion, he errs on the side of paranoid conservatism in other areas. Telling Christians to exercise caution when dealing with demonic spirits is wise; telling Christians that they have no authority to ...more

This is actually the second or third time I've read this little book. It's a good one to keep on your shelf to reference or re-read from time to time. MacArthur wrote the book in the early 90's at the time when the health wealth and prosperity gospel message was abounding in the church. This book deals with the spiritual warfare movement that was also taking place coincidentally at the time. He takes aim at false doctrine and errant strategies for taking on Satan. In some ways its a rebuke to fa ...more

This was a good read. It is informative, convicting, and very encouraging. Very practical as well. I would suggest this book to any Charismatic believers. There was a really good chapter on prayer as well.

The book is precisely what it markets itself to be: the origin of spiritual warfare, its present reality, and a biblical response. Dr. MacArthur goes into great detail about the spiritual armor listed in Ephesians 6 and how it should be used, combatting the dangerous thinking that Christians should engage with demons.

An excellent book centered around a favorite set of verses (Eph. 6:10-17) on spiritual warfare. John MacArthur is one of the outstanding Christian leaders of our times and he presents a great study on dealing with spiritual warfare. Great read!
