A heartwarming story of redemption and acceptance that will turn you into a thorough believer in love at first sight. I loved that there weren’t any ‘grand epiphany’ moments, just a steady movement from an exciting first meeting through a most delightful HEA. When I learned who the male lead was, I wondered how the author was going to redeem him. You see, he was the villain in When a Marquis Chooses a Bride from the Worthingtons series. He was a misguided villain, but a villain nonetheless. However, he’s spent the last four years changing himself from the useless fribble he was to a caring, honorable man who is absolutely nothing like the man who existed four years ago. All of that has occurred off-page between the previous book and this one. So, redemption has already occurred – we are only dealing with forgiveness and making amends – and falling in love.

Nathanael (Nate), Viscount Fotherby, has spent the last four years living on his country estate because of a vile thing he did. He has used those years to learn and grow as a human. He has spent the time learning to manage his estates, learning to appreciate and care for those who are dependent on him – especially his tenants and neighbors, and learning that he really wasn’t who he thought he was. He was who his father had made him into and now that he’s been on his own all this time, he’s realized what it is to actually appreciate others – no matter their rank – to be useful, and to help others whenever he can. Helping a neighbor is what has brought him back to London and it is how he came to be in the time and place to help rescue a young woman who was being threatened by thugs. She was the most arresting woman he’s ever seen and he’d surely like to see her again. He doesn’t even learn her name.

Miss Henrietta Stern is very much a forward-thinking young lady. She is about to begin her second season but hasn’t seen anyone at all who piques her interest. Well, she hadn’t until that handsome man came to her aid as she was trying to rescue a baby. There was just something about him and she just really wishes she had learned his name.

Nate and Henrietta meet and are attracted before they learn that she is the sister of the woman he had abducted. Henrietta has heard all of the tales and descriptions of that dandified fribble and the man she met seems nothing like that at all. They can work out their differences, but can they get her family – especially her sister – to forgive?

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing these two come to care for each other and work together to bring about their own HEA. The story is well-written, well-plotted, and excellently delivered. I hope you will give it a try and that you will love it as much as I did.

Whilst this is the third book in the series it’s also connected to the Worthington series so earlier characters do feature heavily. Nate was the villain in Merton & Dotty's story & I wondered how he could be redeemed but over four years have passed & his banishment to the country have certainly changed him. I loved the intelligent, Henrietta & I also really liked Nate, which I didn’t see happening but he's matured into a caring man. There’s no great drama just two people being instantly attracted to each other. I loved how they were thrown together by a bevy of friends & relatives, which played into their hands as they wanted to be together. A delightful read & I look forward to more books in the Worthingtons’ world
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I started three books at the beginning of November, but only this one held my interest. I have read all of The Worthingtons Series and the two Lords of London before this one. I found them all to be reliably good.

For those who have read them also, this takes the villain from When a Marquis Chooses a Bride as the hero. Other authors have done this before, but I thought Ella Quinn may have done it best. It has been years since the story, which allowed time for Nathanael, Viscount Fotherby, to truly change. Plus, he was never truly evil in the first place, just shallow, self-centered, and misguided.

Miss Henrietta Stern, Dottie’s younger sister, was the new Nate's perfect match. She wanted a man who would allow her to continue with her charity work of saving women and children. She also wanted someone who would stand up for the unfortunate in the House of Lords and allow her to be a full partner in the home. Most eligible men did not fit the bill. Plus, no one sent tingles up her spine until Nate.

This was a fun and entertaining happily ever after read without much angst. However, there was just enough mystery and excitement to keep it engaging. It could be read as a standalone.

I usually love books by Ms. Quinn, but this one was so boring! Nothing of importance really happens. Nate and Henrietta meet accidentally and from that brief meeting, they both decide the other person is the one they want to marry. There's no character growth. We're just told about Nate's previous bad behavior against Henrietta's sister, but by the time he comes back to London, he's completely reformed. Not having read any of the previous books in the series might have made all the characters introduced in the book make more sense. I almost stopped reading numerous times as the story just didn't hold my interest that much.

First and foremost, the cover is lovely, and YES, I was expecting, or should I say had high expectations for this book, BUT IT WAS A DISASTER.

To cut a long story short, this was the most painful, boring, and uninteresting historical romance I've ever read.

Just don't waste your time on it.

3.5 stars, rounded up

If you read the Worthingtons series, you already know Nathaniel “Nate”, Viscount Fotherby, he was one of the villains in “When a Marquess Chooses a Bride” best known for kidnapping Dorothea Stern, in a misguided attempt to save his friend. That stunt got him sent to the country to rusticate and mature. And he did, he learned humility and responsibility and to look beyond a person’s station, in short, he changed from being an entitled, self-absorbed dandy into a good man. It is that man that comes to the aid of Henrietta Stern while she is trying to rescue a child. He is immediately smitten and wishes he could meet with her again, but they parted without exchanging names.

Henrietta Stern is starting her second season and hopes to find a match, but so far no man has captured her interest like the man who helped her. But when she learns who he is, can she love the man who wronged her sister, even though he is nothing like the villain she expected?

This was a well-written redemption story with lots of familiar characters. Personally, I found the story to be a little boring and slow-moving. Yes, there is conflict, but nothing dramatic or page turning, it was just a nice, sweet, slow-burning love story. This is the third book in the series and it is loosely connected to the previous series, but it could be read as a standalone title.

Regency romance with some past indiscretions by Viscount Nathaniel Fotherby interrupting his courtship with a young woman he meets in the less salubrious parts of town (read downright dangerous). Nate’s entranced by Henrietta Stern, the sister of the woman he abducted ten years ago. Awkward!!! A bit of a slide sideways on the enemy to lover trope. Not sure if I wanted the virginal bedding details, but there you are 🤷‍♀️
The part I particularly liked was the 8 year old boot boy taking the Irish wolfhound for walks—an amusing sight I’m sure.

A sweet but somewhat slow-moving romance, The Most Eligible Bride in London is the next installment in Ella Quinn's Lords of London series. Lord Nate Fotherby is back in London after a period of penance in the country to make up for his rash decision a few years prior in abducting his best friend's fiancée in an ill-fated attempt to prevent their marriage.

Nate has matured and believes he is now ready to find the perfect bride. Unfortunately, the first lady who sparks his interest is none other than the younger sister of the woman he abducted. Henrietta Stern works for a charity involved in rescuing children, and meets Nate after she has shot a man to save a child. The book opens with a bang, but then the pace quickly slows down. The story's main conflict is primarily to do with whether or not Henrietta and Nate will be able to find a way to be together despite her sister's unwillingness to forgive him for his past crime.

As with past books in the series, the hero and heroine's "Mamas" play a large role in steering the romance along. Lots of wonderful historical details and charming side scenes with other characters in the series and their families, but overall the plot drags at times.

Henrietta Stern meets Lord Fotherby in the act of rescuing a baby in a dark alley. Not yet formally introduced, it takes a little maneuvering from her friends' to make it happen. Unfortunately, Lord Fotherby use to be a dandy and kidnapped Henrietta's sister by mistake. After four years, he is a changed man and sorry for his past behavior. All he seeks is forgiveness and an introduction to Henrietta. The more they interact with each other, they more they realize they were meant to be together. With a little help from his mother, Henrietta's grandmother and all her friends, it may be enough help to make a marriage happen. Not as humorous as previous books. This one has a lot of focus on babies. Revisit the interconnected families and friends from previous books.

Viscount Nathanael (Nate) Fotherby has made some mistakes in his past, which ended up having him being exiled to the country. He’s been trying to make amends ever since.

He finds himself returning to London, before the Season, in search of a wife. One woman sparks his interest, a lady he helped when she was rescuing a baby. Miss Henrietta Stern.

But there is a difficult complication… she is the sister of the woman he abducted in the past, to save his best friend from marriage. And the family has never forgiven him…

Will Nate be able to win Henrietta’s affection, be forgiven by her family and prove himself to be the perfect husband?

I do enjoy historical fiction, especially set in this time/age. Loved the story & characters. It has romance, little spice & I definitely enjoyed this story!

Henrietta meets Nate when he saves her from ruffians. Neither knows who the other is. When Henrietta finds out that Nate was responsible for kidnapping her sister several years ago, she wants nothing to do with him. However, they can’t deny the attraction. Henrietta realizes Nate has changed and is persuaded to give him a second chance. Will her close family ever accept him? I received an ARC from NetGalley and Kensington Books for my honest review.

I wanted to enjoy this one so badly, but unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. This was very much a slow-burn romance, but it was so slow-burn that the characters didn't even officially meet until almost halfway into it. Because of this, I was bored with a lot of the book and just couldn't get into it. Once the romance did pick up, it was super rushed, and I didn't feel that it was super believable.

This book is painfully slow. After the inciting action involving a man getting shot and the love interests meeting, there’s more about eggs for breakfast and ordering boots and chatting with friends than getting to know the main characters. Aside from the initial meeting/attraction, it was at %34 point before the couple even talked.

I really thought the point of this book was going to be getting the couple into the same room and hearing about every single friend in this wide Ella Quinn universe.

Once the couple officially meets it’s still slow on building the romance, but at this point the book is half over. And then, all of a sudden it’s insta-love. I still don’t know why these two people want to be together. At the %65 mark I was just flipping pages. It’s all send a note to this person and ride with that person and who is having a baby and then suddenly we’re getting off in a public park.

There were editing errors throughout. Pronoun and name mistakes, mistakes with continuity, spacing, and punctuation. Point of view changes within a scene. Being the 3rd in a series as well as having crossover characters from another series made it hard to keep so many unnecessary supporting characters straight, but if you’ve read the others it’s probably more readable.

Skip this one unless you’ve read the other books in the series and want to catch up with the parade of side characters. The romance alone isn’t worth the time.

I received this as an advanced reader copy.

This was such a boring book. I had to really plow through to finish. There was no hero’s journey here. We have arrived. Everyone has already grown and matured and is progressive in their thoughts. They are against slavery and doctors bleeding patients. They are for educating the poor and for the rights of women.

The main characters fall into insta-love. And there is no tension between them even though the hero had kidnapped the heroine’s sister (bizarre). Both are selfless wonderful people who immediately make it clear they are interested in marrying the other.

There is a tiny subplot with evil child sellers who endanger the main characters but it’s not really integral to the story.

There are some proofing errors like someone saying “she is a beautiful baby boy”.

Also, casual sex before the main characters are married. So casually done.

A lot of modern sensibilities with the trappings of historic in there.

Not a book I would recommend. Just not enough there to make it worth reading when there are so many better books in this world.

A sweet romance with some large obstacles to overcome. How does one go about marrying the man who abducted their sister and almost destroyed her happiness? Can such a man truly redeem himself? Upon meeting Lord Fotherby one cannot help but see the change in him since his days of youth. A dandy no more, he is now a respectable compassionate man he seeks only to help others. How could Henrietta not fall for him, but getting her sister to move past her past will prove to be a great challenge.
The story travelled well and I greatly enjoyed watching the bonds of friendship created and especially seeing old friendships return. Overcoming the anger and hurt of the past was no easy road for any involved but true love won out in the end and the belief that everyone deserves a chance at redemption.

So boring it's excruciating. She shoots a man in the beginning, and even that's boring! Trivial details are given so much time. Oh dear, she got caught in the rain. Her bonnet's wet, can it be saved? She'll need a bath, her maid will be cross. I'm a third of the way through and the two haven't met yet. The tedious discussion of who is he? We can't speak until I find someone who knows both of us for an introduction. I can't read any further. It seems Nate has totally reformed from kidnapping his friends fiancé four years ago. This sounds like a fun plot but don't get excited. It's not. Henrietta is the sister of this fiancé. I don't think this author is for me. Sweet, gentle, slow, did I say slow? A former rogue on the path to reputation redemption is drawn to the sister of a woman he once wronged. Can he make amends and prove he has turned over a new leaf? Can she put aside a family grudge and look towards a new future?

I love Ella Quinn's books. They are funny, entertaining and romantic. I love both characters in this book. The hero has grown and changed. The heroine is strong and independent. I love how the family and friends play in the plot of this book. A fun and romantic historical book...

I think my brain is melting from TMI. This is the third book in the Lords of London series I've read and, although usually, in this trope each book is a stand-alone here this was not the case. One really should have read, not only the previous two books in the series, but also the previous series of the same author since characters from other series made their presence in abundance.
I cannot say I enjoyed the book. The editing needed work ("he", "she" and all the other pronouns were used without it being clear who "he" or "she" is), there were people being mentioned without any real information only to disappear and never being mentioned again, names changed, and overall it was really hard to keep track of all those mentioned.
The story also evolved extremely slow. It went on and on and on about how sorry and remorseful Nate was about his past actions and he did nothing whatsoever about meeting his former friend Merton and his wife (Nate's "victim") in order to apologise and re- enter their good graces.
Some things needed to be addressed early on in the book. I could för instance not understand how a duke's daughter (Henrietta's mother) could marry a mere vicar, the second son of a baron. Not until after half of the book was there a relevant explanation.
I could go on and on about several other issues that disturbed me (e.g. both Georgie's and Henrietta's horses are named Lilly) but bottom line is that I have read better books (the two previous books in the Lords if London among them), in both their writing and their plot and that this one left much to be wanted.
I want to give it a 3star, which I will, but I'm not entirely sure it's worth it.
I received an ARC by NetGalley, for my honest review and I am thankful.

Another delightful book by Ella Quinn with her signature witty banter and interesting, likable characters. I did not read the Worthingtons series, from which many of the characters come from, so I was a bit overwhelmed by all the characters. Nonetheless, the author does provide background for all the characters, I just had a hard time remembering who was who.

Henrietta Stern is the only one of her group of friends that is still single. But she knows what she wants in a husband, a love match is one of those things. She also wants someone who is kind, actually listens to her and is interested in helping others. She thinks she meets just that man, when Nathanael, Viscount Fotherby, comes to her rescue, while she is rescuing a baby. However, she doesn't know his name and when she finds out, she is conflicted, because several years ago he had kidnapped her sister, after he was told that she had compromised his best friend. He was sent away to the country to mature and redeem himself, which he has done. During his four years in the country he has learned to run his estate and assist his tenants. And the only reason that he was even in London, was to help one of his neighbors. But he also sees Henrietta as the woman of his dreams. Will he get a second chance?

As I read this book, it was a sweltering 96 F outside and just the descriptions of all the layers of the garments and gloves that both women and men wore made me hot- not in a good way. I read an ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Check out my review on my blog: http://thereadingdevil.blogspot.com/2...

Or read below!

So this is my first book by Ella Quinn, and despite the fact that it's the third in a series, generally the order you read doesn't matter much in historical fiction novels. But in this book, I actually felt pretty lost. There were a ton of references to events that happened in previous books that I wasn't aware of, which is very unusual for this genre.

The book starts off with a surprise encounter between Nate and Henrietta, and from that one moment they both decide that they will marry the other person. Sometimes insta-love works for a story, sometimes it doesn't. Honestly, I felt like it just made these two characters seem very robotic. I felt like I was reading a list of steps that each character had to take in order to get to the end goal of marriage, rather than a flowing story. And there were a ton of conversations thrown into the book that didn't further the plot at all, and left me wondering why they had been included at all.

There were some men who sold children, and in the very beginning of the book, Henrietta shoots one of them. It made it seem like this would end up playing a large part of the book, but it ended up being hardly mentioned at all. Perhaps if that had played a larger part in the story, tis book would have been more interesting. Unfortunately, it just didn't work for me.

There is also a very short sex scene which honestly felt like the characters just wanted to check an item off a list. I didn't feel any passion between these two. Overall, while the book had some moments that were sweet, there just wasn't enough to make in memorable or interesting. Of course, this is just my opinion and you're welcome to give it a try! But I do recommend reading the series in order as this doesn't seem like a series that can be read out of order.

This was a delightful historical romance with all the trimmings. Great locals, colorful characters, and an entertaining plot filled with excitement. This rogue will steal your heart with his sweet, always thoughtful manners. And as Nate and Henrietta fall in love, the book doesn’t shy away from the sexy and steamy encounters. I loved it and you will too. This story was filled with warmth, humor, intrigue, and best of all the happily ever after which to me, is the icing on the cake.

Nathaniel (Nate), Viscount Fotherby has made some mistakes in his past, leading him to being exiled for the last four years to his country estate. He has spent the time trying to change who he was. He has learned to manage his Estate, and to appreciate a take care of his tenants and neighbors. He is returning to London, before the Season, in search of a wife and hoping to start a family. One woman sparks his interest immediately, a lady he helped when she was rescuing a baby. Miss Henrietta Stern.

Miss Henrietta Stern is a forward thinking young woman who is about to start her second season. So far no one has capture her interest. But when a handsome man comes to her aide while she is rescuing a baby, she is smitten immediately. But there is a bit of a problem for them… she is the sister of the woman he abducted in the past, to save his best friend from marriage. And her family has never forgiven him. Will Nate be able to win Henrietta’s love, be forgiven by her family and prove himself to be the perfect husband?

I absolutely loved the journey this book took me on, my heart was an emotional wreck while reading I felt EVERTHING! From anger, heartache, joy, laughter, and happiness. Nate and Henrietta never had it easy, but fighting for their love just made me fall even more in love with their story!

Received an early copy and this is my honest review.

It's not hard to believe that redemption is a process and not a moment of clarity. Nate Meadows, Viscount Fotherby, made a horrible choice in The Marquis Chooses a Bride, he ran off with the bride, thinking he was saving his best friend from a lifetime of misery. Of course he was wrong, believed the wrong people whispering in his ear, mostly because he wanted to. Luckly he retired to the country for a few years and learned how to be a proper, thoughtful man. His willingness & desire to help others leads him to Henrietta Stern and darn it, she's the other lady's sister. Now comes the hardest part, asking forgiveness from those he wronged. Henrietta is such a lovely young woman. She's kind and wants to do more than sip tea and gossip. Her charitable works extend to Nate's cause & healing that old riff. It's a nice story and Nate's progression is so much more believable and compelling than his being given an easy out. I found this book to be a better read than some of the other characters stories. I'm looking forward to the next in the series, the youngest girls & it's bound to be a doozy of trouble.

This is a really sweet and quite romantic story from an author I haven’t read before.
Nathanael, Viscount Fotherby, abducted the now Lady Merton to save his friend from marriage. Nate has been trying to make amends ever since, leaving behind his self-centered ways to fulfill his duties—and that includes finding a wife of his own. One woman sparks his interest above all others—a lady he helped when she was rescuing a child. Miss Henrietta Stern, Lady Merton’s younger sister, is intrigued by the stranger who comes to her aid—until she learns his identity. Her heart insists that the gentleman has changed for the better. But could her family accept her choice?
This is a low burn romance with a few steamier moments. It´s sweet and romantic. I usually enjoy steamier books, but this one actually reminded me of the Bridgertons without the “I burn for you”. A bit slow with a lot of descriptions, the story felt right, historical accurate and real.

I finished this one, but more (unfortunately) out of hope that I would start to enjoy it more the longer it went on.

I didn't. I was never able to really feel like the characters were real people, which is an issue in a story in which I am supposed to like and relate to them.

There were parts that I found amusing and interesting, but they were not enough for me to be able to say I was particularly engaged with the story as a whole.

I am unable to recommend this title.

It shows some amazing talent with an author can take a villain from a previous story and make him a likeable hero in another. I love a good redemption story and this one doesn't disappoint. I've enjoyed the series and this one included a lot of my favorite side characters. I loved the charity aspect of this story, seems like they are making actual change and doing good. Duchess grandma is so much fun to read too.

I'm not really sure how to put my review together. The book is well written, as usual with Ella Quinn, I just don't think it was my cup of tea. It seemed a little immature to me, I think. There wasn't much to base the instant soul mate attraction on. I will read future book by Ella Quinn, but this one didn't hold my attention.

The Most Eligible Bride in London by Ella Quinn is the new instalment in her Lords of London series. In this release we get to see a new and very much improved Nathanael, Viscount Fotherby. For those of you that are new to the series and familiar with Nathanael there are enough references to the unfortunate incident that this makes a fine enough read without having read the other books. However, I’m of the opinion that it reads best if one has read the book leading to his banishment.

The reason I say this is because, I had found myself laughing uproariously at his antics and his manner of dress. For one, I think the reader will feel more sympathetic, more appreciative, and ultimately over the moon that Nathanael was not left out of getting a happy ending as his friends found, just because he was slower in “growing up” per say. I don’t think a reader can fully get those feelings if they had not read the other books to get to know him and watch his growth.

Now, that I have pushed my opinion on you guys, here’s a brief review of how this book proceeds. Miss Henrietta Stern, Lady Merton’s younger sister who caused Nate’s banishment is about to take part in the season again. No one has been able to catch her eyes, though not from lack of trying. This could be since this young lady, like the rest of the women in her family and friends is not a featherbrain, nor a surface beauty. Thus, she is looking for the male counterpart that would not only understand her but support her causes. A fortuitous incident brings her in contact with the new and improve Nate and this is where things get…complicated. Her family, especially her sister is not in support of the match. They simply cannot believe that the Nate they knew, can and has changed that much to be the right one for her.

Nate on the other hand, having left behind his self-centered ways, has now been fulfilling his duties to his tenants, and his beloved mother which now means finding a wife and begetting heirs. The only problem is no woman has sparked his interest since he now wants what all his mates have found, and he sees what love can be like in a marriage. All his reformed endeavors may come to nothing though because proving himself worthy of the bride his heart chose may prove insurmountable as she’s Lady Merton’s beloved sister.

This means we the readers are left hoping and cheering for Henrietta and Nate as they set out to prove to everyone that, they do belong together. With a little help from a couple of unlikely allies, these two will have to ultimately decide whether to choose self-happiness or family loyalty. Hopefully, you will find this story of love conquering all as delightful as I did. This review was given on the ARC copy received from the Publisher via NetGalley in return for my honest opinion. Happy reading!
