Though mass media students need to have a firm enough understanding of the research process to carry out some research, their main goal is to understand analysis and reports from secondary sources..
Another great book that should be read by both qualitative and quantitative researchers. From descriptive stats to non descriptive stats this book has everything. A prior knowledge of stats, and basic arithmetic knowledge is needed for chapters 10, 11 and 12 that deal with hard core statistical procedures like chi-square, ANOVA, R sqaure etc.
joke review this was my textbook for one of my modules 2 stars for the pain and torture it put me through to understand the content of this book 2 stars also because i appreciate the content written and that it did deepen my understanding of research and provide insightful opinions
Research reading. The most authentic book for research methodology in Media Studies and statistics is also included. A tough book, but really worth reading.
This is one of those textbooks that, if you plan to go into the field, it's always good to hang onto. You'll find yourself using this for a reference in many other classes and situations. (Well, I did anyway.)
meh...it wasn't bad for an introduction to research methods in social research. I would have preferred a book with a little more relevance to modern social research; for example, using the internet and other current technologies.
