Get ready to fall in love… Reviewed By Emma Megan for Readers’ Favorite

I didn't expect a romance novel to be this delightful and intriguing. The Missed Kiss by Nicola Lowe is a fantastic emotionally-charged novel about finding the courage to love and to let someone love you after being hurt. It's a gorgeous and engrossing novel I won't soon forget as it's told with both heartbreaking care and vivid detail. Nicola Lowe is clearly a talented writer who excels at creating love triangles. I fell in love with the characters, and to my surprise, I could not choose which one I would Zack or Luke. Nicola Lowe's writing is so intelligent and gripping. I know that my next read will be the sequel, To Kiss You Again, as I'm anxious to discover which life Lily has chosen.

This angsty contemporary romance is the perfect read for everyone who loves having their heart ripped out over a good love triangle. Lily has been single for the past four years because of an abusive relationship that left her scarred emotionally. Her best friends Cassie and Luke were there to help her through the worst time in her life and have stood by her ever since. Lily never realized that Luke was secretly in love with her and has been patiently waiting for her to be ready to date.

While Luke is away in Africa, she meets Zach, another great guy, and falls for him, hard. Their relationship progresses quickly and they fall in love. Then Luke returns from Africa, and confesses his feelings. This novel does contain a love triangle where one relationship overlaps with another. One thing I really liked about the novel was the way that it examined the journey Lily went through after her abusive situation. It's really a novel that is about Lily's journey to find herself and get into a healthier place mentally and emotionally, rather than which man is better, because both are good choices in different ways. I liked both Luke and Zach and am excited to see where Lily’s story goes from here.

Chocolate! I craved chocolate during and after reading this book!

… And why was that?!!!

The main characters were entangled in an emotional roller coaster that got under my skin and this was a good sign as it solidified this debut author's natural ability to paint her characters with a fine brush, detailing several layers of emotions which humanize her characters and connect with the reader. This stood out most for me. I like characters that are fleshed out and make my mind slip from floating in a make-believe world to believing the characters are true blue human beings. This was achieved here. The realism was raw due to razor sharp detailing. I did not feel like I was reading a debut novel. Major points scored here.

Nicola Lowe knows what she is doing. Her work is worth reading.

I strongly recommend this book.

Happy Reading!

*Audiobook review
Entertaining narration
This is the first audiobook that I have ever finished. The narrator does a great job of grabbing and holding your attention.
The story itself is a lovely, well written rom com, although I did feel a certain frustration towards Lily for getting herself into the middle of a love triangle. In my honest opinion, the two men were not hugely different (only in looks) which is probably why Lily found it so difficult to choose between them. I also enjoyed the friendship with Cassie and found the characters all relatable. I will be looking out for the sequel to see what happens next.
Oh, and by the way, I'm team Luke!

A romantic story that keeps you guessing. What will happen next? Well written and cleverly plotted The Missed Kiss draws you into Lilly’s accidentally tangled love life.
There are sexy scenes but they are well handled and integral to the plot. After a bad relationship Lilly is now in recovery; she has a great job, a lovely home and two great friends. Her BFF Cassie sets her up on a blind date with the perfect man. Gorgeous, courteous and available Zack. Despite Lilly’s initial reservations the relationship blossoms. Cue the return of Luke her best male friend who has been doing good deeds abroad. What happens next is a roller coaster ride of highs, lows and U turns. Beautifully executed by the author that leave the reader a little shaken and stirred! If you love romance be sure to read The Missed Kiss.

When her best friend sets her up on a blind date Lily couldn't imagine just how much her life will change, the perfect man and life suddenly seem to have been handed to her but can it all be that easy? When she finds another man who is after her affections, surely it can only be a nice and good thing to find out? Torn between the perfect one or the other perfect one Lily must decide which way her life is set to go but can she make the right decision before everything tumbles out of control and she loses everything?

This is a very well written novel that has hugely believable characters and draws the reader in so that they are feeling the anguish of Lily and pulling for her to choose one way or the other. The dialogue is cleverly worked and it is obvious this book meant the world to the author and I can only imagine how many times she went through deciding how each event would unfold and felt her characters get impacted by her decisions too. A huge well done and congratulations on a fantastic piece of writing to Nicola.

Honestly, this is not my usual genre to read, but I was pleasantly surprised by how this book gripped me. The Missed Kiss is a beautiful tale of love and friendship, full of twists and turns that will keep you reading until the end. The characters are superbly crafted, lovable and relatable.
I quickly found myself immersed in this world that Nicola created, with the pacing of the story and the character development being perfect.
The Missed Kiss is a well written and fun read, that will leave you wanting more. If you’re after a rollercoaster of emotion, grab this book – it won’t disappoint.
(Side note – if you’re a guy thinking about giving this a read, you should certainly give it a try. As I said, romance isn’t my usual genre, but this was so well written that I couldn’t stop reading.)
Conclusion- You can feel the love and emotion that went into this book’s creation. It’s sweet, with a modern edge. Truly a brilliant and beautiful debut novel. 5/5

I laughed. I yelled. At times I wanted to tell Lily she was making a mistake. Those are the best books, right? Those that make you feel like you are friends with the characters. Or their enemy. I must say I don’t like one of the guys. But, just like the author, I’m not telling which.
Waiting for book 2.

This book started off very sweet and little conflict. I didnt think I would enjoy it. Then it got interesting and I was torn this way and that. I won't spoil it for you but your one team or the other. Mine didn't win. I'm looking forward to book two and hope to find myself in that tug back and forth again. I like good conflict and once you get into this book your given it.

The love triangle is not my favorite trope, but I decided to read The Missed Kiss after hearing many great things about it.
We meet Lily, a young woman whose life is suddenly turned upside down by two men. The inevitable happens: she must choose between the two. Both seem to stand good chances, and even though I personally didn't root for either of them, I had to find out what happened. So I kept turning the pages, and this book is a great page-turner! It's fast paced and keeps you guessing until the end. I am not particularly fond of sex scenes and this book has many, but that's just a personal preference of mine. I know many people will love the story for its steamy scenes. I wish I could have had more sympathy for Lily, and I understand why others do, but I couldn't really get behind her actions after some point. Still, I encourage everyone to read and find out for themselves what team they're in and decide what they think Lily should do.
A well-written book for sure!

I was hooked from the very beginning. Lily is so relatable & real & even though Cassie is a side character, I really connected with her too. Zack & Luke are very different yet I was somehow rooting for both of them. Beautifully written, perfect pacing & amazing, well-developed characters. The perfect romance to curl up on the sofa with a glass of wine. Loved it! Hats off to the author & I can’t wait for more.

The Missed Kiss was a debut novel by Nicola Lowe and I enjoyed it. It was a story about friendship, love, romance and sacrifice. What began as the perfect love story soon turned out to be anything but perfect. This love triangle started off as a light easy read but it got a emotional, angsty and complicated. Zach and Luke were great characters and I liked them both. Unfortunately while I liked Lily in the beginning, I did not agree with some of the choice she made. The story was fast paced and flowed smoothly with an unexpected twist. I was a bit disappointed with the choice at the end of this book but I am interested in book two to see if anything changes. I would recommend this novel to lovers of angst love triangles.

Love Triangle

If the rate allowed a 4.5 I would have gone with that — I rounded to 4 because I think 4 star reviews get read more, and I want the right audience to find this book.

The Missed Kiss is right up there with best-sellers Billionaires of Manhattan and Knight in Shining Suit. It has the formula of quick intro (so you have the background and social circle) and jumps immediately into the romance. It’s probably a 4 out of 5 for heat, though the author does a nice job of emotional descriptions and guiding vs graphic physical descriptions.

My drawbacks were: I’m not a fan of love triangles, and I struggled with the main character professing that she just couldn’t cheat when she was, in fact, cheating.

The two love interests were so similar I didn’t feel strongly about one or the other prevailing. It made it easy to enjoy the chapters regardless of which characters were in them, I just usually prefer louder character voices. It was still better than one being completely toxic and finding yourself yelling at the fictional character in frustration over the obvious choice. I think readers that are in it for the heat, maybe even those that like reverse harem reads, would love the combo.

Overall, if you like relationship friction, lots of well set up romantic encounters, a little Cinderella vibe (who doesn’t like shoes?), and fast paced romance this read is for you!

I raced through this debut novel and am still thinking about the characters and the choices they made. Lily is a brilliant heroine, she’s not perfect and she is torn between the two men in her life - as was I! The story is tightly plotted and well paced, it’s a real page turner. The characters are well developed and distinct. If you are looking for a slightly spicy love story with more than a few twists and turns then I highly recommend the missed kiss.
I am eagerly awaiting the sequel!

A brilliant read! The Missed Kiss was a complete page turner that made me feel like I knew the characters as if they could be my own friends. Romance, friendship, conflict, loyalty, lies and love were all part of an engaging, sentimental, sexy read with an understanding of dilemmas of the heart we can all face. The writing was exceptional, with descriptions, emotions and scenarios I could visualise in my head. This romance book demonstrated love isn’t always easy, that sometimes people have to make difficult decisions and that love and loss can go hand in hand. With humour, sensitivity and passion, this novel was an excellent read! Totally recommended and I look forward to reading more from such a talented author.

The blurb isn't wrong when it says, "prepare to fall in love..."

I read the book in two sittings and can only liken it to the Pringles slogan. "Once you pop, you can't stop!"

I absolutely loved it!

The story had everything that a good romance should have and more. It was funny, sexy, heart warming, heartbreaking, sad, sweet, emotional and totally drama filled. It was brilliantly written, with perfect timing, pace and flow that just makes you want to turn the page to find out what happens next.

The characters, their back stories and their development throughout the story were well thought out and written in a way that encourages and maintains complete investment in their lives and the journey they find themselves on.

Lily was totally relatable and I didn't envy her position. But I did find myself conflicted towards her at times. one minute I wanted to shake her and at others, I really wanted to give her a hug and say, "You've got this".

Zack and Luke had me totally divided as both had their share of pros and cons. But ultimately, after oohing, aahing, sighing, smiling, crying (yes I am a crier for the right book), gasping and feeling like a teenager again. I am totally #TeamLuke

I haven't read a lot of romance books recently. Purely because my love of thrillers has overshadowed everything else. But this book has totally reminded me of just how much I also love a good love story!

This is Nicola's debut novel and what a debut it is! I love finding authors who really excite you so much that you just want to read everything they have to offer. Nicola is definitely one of those authors for me.

This is a must read for all manner of chick lit/romance fans.

This was a cute RomCom story, but the main character Lily that was stuck in a love triangle really frustrated me. There was no clear favorite between the guys Luke and Zack and I got the feeling her choice could change as often as the weather changes… so who will it be? At the end end of the book the author asks us to let them know if we are Team Luke or Team Zack… well I think I would have to go with Luke as I didn’t always agree with Zack’s behavior or reactions, but then again I didn’t always agree with Lily’s either.

For a debut book I thought it was good. The writing style flowed smoothly, I just didn’t like the indecisive main character, so this is no reason not to try more books by this author in the future.

The narration was really good but a little strange with it not being a British accent but typical British words were used, like twat and tea (instead of dinner for the evening meal). Once I got over that I enjoyed the voice and her way of bringing the story to life.

A very impressive debut novel!
4.5 stars

I received a free audiobook version of The Missed Kiss directly from the author. It’s extraordinarily well written and clear Lowe has come into her life as an author with a bang! (pun intended)

Disclosure: I’m not usually one for love triangles.

Throughout the story, I found myself growing fond of Luke; I’m a sucker for friends turned lovers. However, I couldn’t root for him because the first half of Lily and Luke’s relationship started while Lily was with Zack. Every time Lily and Luke were together behind Zack’s back, it was hard to listen to and I found myself wanting the scene to be over. And that is my only reason for giving this 4.5 stars.

So I guess I’m team “Please for the love break up with Zack properly so you can be with Luke and it not feel so icky”.

I will say I think the story ended perfectly. Taking the choice away from Lily was the only solution that made sense.

I’m very excited to see what Lowe comes out with next. This will definitely be an author I continue to follow!

“You’re in the process of falling in love, and that’s the best, most delicious, amazing bit, so you should enjoy every second of it.”

“Life isn’t simple and people aren’t simple. Just trust in the fact that if something is meant to be, it will be. When it’s ready.”

I love a classic ‘right person, wrong time’ story and this book delivered exactly that with the twist of a third love interest in the picture.

This isn’t all that relevant to the story, but I love how on Lily and Zack’s first proper date, they split the bill! Modern day dating at its finest and I am living for it!

It was so easy to be able to feel the lust, temptation and sexual chemistry through the pages, I was constantly on edge waiting for the big firework moments to happen - forbidden love and lust just seems so much more exciting and dangerous and I loved living it through the chatscters 🤫

I found the character developments really well done and thorough, and went through a lot of love and hate for both Lily and Zach, wanting to one minute give them a cuddle and the next bang their heads together.

The Missed Kiss was a really fast paced, lustful read and I couldn’t put it down! I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw the book, and above all I’m already excited for the next book!

I received a digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! This book left me feeling happy, sad, conflicted, hopeful and pensive. Like most readers, I have certain triggers and infidelity is a major one, for me. Whilst that comment is not meant to suggest that Lily’s character cheats on her partner, there is an awkward feeling of temptation looming for the second half of the book.

As the synopsis explains, Lily is happy with her life, she has two best friends and no desire for any romance as she has been scarred by a previous relationship. When her best friend interferes and sets her up with a blind date, Lily could never have anticipated how quickly and deeply she would fall in love. She would probably not have expected that her date, Zack, would also fall head over heels.

This book starts as the loveliest, romantic tale that I could imagine. In fact, their relationship is so perfect, the cynical me started expecting something to go wrong. I had no idea how wrong the author would take them. On the surface, the premise is simply a matter of choice, but Nicola Lowe has created a scenario where winners and losers are the only result.

The turmoil experienced by Lily is tangible, I found myself squirming at the thought of the decision that she had to make. How can you choose between a new and exciting love, or a well-established relationship with the deepest of feelings? The agony was real, and I felt really sorry for all involved.

What truly surprised me, was that I was firmly in team Zack from the moment Lily was faced with her dilemma. I remained unmoved until the final decision was made. My heart then leapt to team Luke and I can’t wait for the next instalment to find out what happens next.

This story is fast paced and sweeps up every emotion in its wake. This tender observation of the challenges of the heart will leave you windswept and eager for more.

This is another new-to-me debut author, and like always I try to go into them blind. Nicola Lowe did not disappoint at all! Love triangles are not always my thing, I tend to run to #whychoose reads more. However, I loved the characters and they hook you into their twists and turns. This book gives you all the feels and it’s a love story that you just can't get enough of. Lily (FMC) was hurt in a past relationship and her best friend Luke (one of the MMC’s) was there for her. He helped rebuild her self-esteem and waited for her to show signs of being ready to maybe date again. However, after being set up on a perfect blind date with Zack (the other MMC) while Luke was out of town, he realizes he might have lost his chance to be with Lily. But love always finds a way to win in the end, even if it’s not how you want it to go. I really need the next book so I can see what comes of these three and their lives after the choices that were made outside of Lily’s control.

If you're into love triangles, you have to read this book! The story centers around our damaged heroine, Lily, who must choose between the man who has been her best friend and the man that makes her want to move on from her past. I'm Team Luke but . . . you'll have to read it to find out which man he is and which one Lily chooses. If you find yourself not on the winning team, the good news is . . . the story's not over yet. I'm looking forward to reading the second book and finding out where Lily really ends up!

In Love With Love . . .

Lily goes on a blind date with Zack and already knows that she is in love with him. That would have been a beautiful end to her story, but there is someone else who has feelings for her as well. Torn between two very different men, what will she do about this very real situation? Is it possible to have both of them? Or will she have to decide on one rather than lose both?

I read The Missed Kiss as an ARC reader and was pleasantly surprised to enjoy it so much, considering it's the authors debut. The characters are well rounded and the pacing excellent. I found myself immersed in their situation. The author has a talent undoubtedly, and I will be looking out for more releases in future. I would highly recommend for romance lovers. Give this a try!

Firstly a massive 👏👏 to Nicola for such a fantastic debut novel. If I hadn't known it was her debut I wouldn't have been able to tell. I thought the writing style was brilliant and the story flowed so well. Once I started I was hooked and didn't want to put it down.

It's a classic love triangle of a story, girl (Lily) meets guy (Zach) and falls in love. Girls best friend (Luke) then declares undying love for girl who realises she loves him as well. Lily is trying to choose between these two perfect guys whilst still getting over a previous suffocating relationship which ended up with a restraining order issued to her ex boyfriend.

The characters were awesome in this book. I developed a bit of a love hate relationship with Lily, as much as I felt sorry for her because of her past and her current dilemma, I also wanted to give her a bit of a shake and say stop cheating on these gorgeous men and bloody well pick one! 😂

The guys in question were portrayed so well, you really imagine through the writing what they looked like and their personalities. (I was definitely on #teamluke though) I felt with their past and history their relationship should win through. You'll have to read it to find out what happens though!

That brings me on to my final point about the ending. I DIDN'T GUESS IT!
That's a massive plus point for me. I can normally work out what is going to happen but genuinely I didn't know which way it was going to go. I was super excited when I got to the end and realised another book was in the pipeline. I'm not ready for this story to finish yet!
