After blasting open the harbor and freeing the city, Lori is looking forward to a moment of peace. She dreams of pursuing her magic training, romance, and returning to her nice, safe, normal job. Regretfully, Prince Burton and his henchmen have other ideas. Under the assumption Lori knows who broke their gridlock on harbor trade, she's been targeted by the local underworld. A dangerous game of hide and seek ensues. Lori and her friends are recruited to help bring Burton's men to justice, an endeavor which takes them to the murky depths of Riverton's shadier streets, and on a dangerous but enlightening adventure to a long abandoned island off the coast. Ancient mysteries suggest a complicated past, and new magic skills promise a bumpy future.
Creator of chaos and herder of words, wife of one, mother of two, owned by cats, does stuff randomly. This Florida native, transplant to Maryland, has a lifetime of wandering and moving under her belt - if she wore one. A love of discovering new places and things translates into a love of sharing adventures with friends. A hint of her former career in the military has seeped into her storytelling as has her pagan spirituality and often sarcastic sense of humor. She welcomes you now to Eaglefall. Mind the bats. They bite.
As with the first few books in the series, this book was engaging and exciting to read. I also get so drawn into Lori's adventures and with the descriptions of her magic I almost feel like I'm experiencing it too. Continued development of characters with so twists and turns. Can't wait to keep reading!
