Dekker Baines decides he wants to start a family, but he doesn’t have an alpha, so he goes to one of Pine Wood Falls get-togethers. It’s where you go if you need someone to mate with, but his evening goes sideways when a few alphas don’t take no for an answer.
Ryder Remington is Dekk’s business partner, and when he gets a call that Dekk is in trouble, he runs to his rescue and comes across a scene that makes his blood boil. A month after the attack, when Dekk goes into heat again, Ryder tells him he’ll be the father of his children. Dekk is reluctant at first but can’t fight his urge to be with child.
Now they’re starting a family, but the thing is, they can’t stand each other. They are as mismatched as two people can get. Together they have to navigate recovering from trauma, try to tolerate living with each other, and get ready for quintuplets. If they can manage all of that, they might get their happy ending, but things never go according to plan.

This book took me over a month to finish. It had a decent start that kept me engaged until the 40% mark. My main issue was the back-and-forth between Dekk and Ryder. Goodness, if they weren’t fated, there would be no way they would have ended up together. Yes, their business brought them into each orbit, come from different worlds, "Alpha vs Omega" thing but I wanted to shake them. It was frustrating, which was one of the main reasons I kept putting it down.
Once it was past the 60% mark, the characters became more bearable as there was some character growth and communication. The hot and cold thing got boring fast.
I love omegaverse, and one of the aspects I enjoy is Mpreg. However, very few authors show the pregnancy and often gloss over it, so I appreciate this author for doing that. I am not going to lie; the birthing scene was pretty graphic and VERY detailed. Birthing six babies!? I got shivers reading some parts.
There is a graphic on page sexual assault of one of the MCs, so the story deals with the trauma of it, the healing and the negative reactions people have towards victims.
Perfectly Mismatched was the fourth book in the Pine Wood Falls Series, but the second I have read. I decided to skip the other books because book two is MMM, and book three is Omega x Omega. Not my cup of tea.
Overall I did enjoy it despite how long it took me to finish it. It was rough in the middle but glad I did not drop it.
As often happens in love, it is the differences and difficulties that keep things interesting until you truly cannot ignore what is happening around you and inside you. Marriage is important, but being loved is required by the baby circus than you are committed to caring for, even if you cannot count correctly or even name them without numbering the birth order.
Families are made from marriages and births, but love is the glue that hold families together through the troubled times of life.
I knew those get-togethers were going to be a problem. But what is an omega to do. Well assault wasn't on the agenda.
This view on trauma and healing. Was well done. I am happy to see the mate wasn't an insta-love situation. But did give off we both went through something and now band together. Working out what it means to be a mate. While allowing healing process to work on its own time table.... So many babies
this was very good.. i loved the personalities.. i love who they become.. i love their issues and raw emotions. very good writing and i need to read the others now haha.
The content warnings for this one include sexual assault and prolonged ("natural") child birth scenes. Pay attention to these warnings.
The alpha in this one was pretty awful, as they so often are in this series.
Broadly speaking, the world building of the entire series has been pretty good.
Again, the pregnancy and relationship development progress in parallel. There is an added plot element, the sexual assaults and aftermath. The characters are well depicted.
As through the whole series, the omegas are all slim and sensitive, and the alphas are all large and pretty awful. This book includes an awful shouty family (who are amoung the good guys, not the vilains).
In this series the characters are all very pro "natural birth" by which they mean childbirth without pain killers and the minimum of medical intervention. The child birth workers such as the doula, nurses, midwives and doctors are all cheerfully nonchalant while the person giving birth writhes and screams in extreme pain and distress for hours on end. As I understand it, this is pretty much what normal child birth is like.
Because all 4 books feature it, I am left with the impression that the author favours natural birth (at home if possible). It would have been nice if there had been some variety, ie in hospital, c-section etc. Also some acceptance that all options are valid and no-one elses' damn business.
Because we live in a patriarchy, with western medicine being arch-patriarchal the entire conversation around having babies is wildly politicised and distorted. Everyone has an opinion. Personally I was annoyed by the automatic assumptions around natural birth in this series. In the series the pregnant omegas are exposed to other omegas during childbirth so at least their choice is a bit informed.
Mpreg authors tend to have had children themselves. I see the entire genre as such women processing the interaction of patriarchal society, marriage, gender roles, sex, pregnancy and parenting while substituting males as the child bearers. This is why I give it the time of day. It is one way women cast a social lens through their own lives and realities.
This is the last book in this series but the first one that I have read. This is a well written book that is easy to read. This is the story of Dekker Baines and Ryder Remington. Both are joint owners of a bar. Dekker is a more bookwork, behind the scenes type of guy. His average\smaller size dictates that he doesn't work the bar. Ryder is a gruff large mountain of a man. He is perfect behind the bar material. He absolutely hates paperwork. He also hates every suggestion that Dekker has come up with to change he bar. They may be partners but they rub each other the wrong way. Dekker is an omega whose drive to start a family has hit full gear. Since he has no alpha in his life, he decides to attend the monthly get together at Pine Wood Falls. Unfortunately things don't work out for Dekker. Ryder is called by a bar patron that Dekker is in trouble and needs help. He arrives to find that Dekker has been assaulted. He rescues him from the situation and takes him home. Dekker has blank spots in his memory so he isn't sure what happened. And like all assault victims he believes it is his own fault for going to the party. Ryder argues with him to see someone but that falls on deaf ears. The next month when Dekker goes into heat again, Ryker volunteers to be the father of his children. Ryker never really considered a family before this but he wants to make sure that Dekker is treated properly and with gentle card. The only condition Ryker has is that Dekker must speak with a professional about the aassault. Ryker knows from his own childhood that you can't heal from trauma if you don't admit that it happened. This is their story. There are lots of ups and downs until they finally get exactly what they need. I enjoyed this book.

Dekker Baines is an Omega and Ryder Remington’s partner in a bar they own in Pine Wood Falls. With his heat coming on, Dekk decides he wants to start a family. His parents and twin sister were fine with his decision. Ryder wasn’t so keen on his going to a get-together to find a random stranger, then they got distracted by their argument about why he calls his one dad “daddy” like he was 5-years-old or something. Finally Ryder asked if he would consider being with him, having his babies, rather than giving himself to strangers like that. But Dekk figured he was just being mean to him again. Ryder never told him, but they originally became partners because he felt a pull toward Dekk and lately it was getting stronger. But not telling Dekk, he just walked away.
The get-together did not go as he hoped. The alphas started ganging up on him, ignoring his protests as if he didn’t matter. He was already bleeding and was having trouble breathing with so many crowding him closely. They forced themselves on him despite his protests, and he began to cry until suddenly they were gone. Only Ryder stood over him and, when Dekk didn’t take his offered hand, he threw him over his shoulder and took him out of there.
The next time Dekk went into heat, Ryder was there for him. No one else would father his children except Ryder; the two of them are fated. Ryder gets over-protective, driving Dekk crazy. And Dekk is sicker than expected because this isn’t just one baby. Dekk still thinks this is only about having babies and doesn’t fully realize how much Ryder loves his mate. When will he discover that? And will he find he loves him back just as much?
I am so glad I read this book. Dekker is an omega who is wanting a family, one to call his own. He is co owner of a bar with Ryker, an alpha who has clashed with him since the beginning. When Dekker decides to go to a get together for omegas in heat who want to get pregnant or just to ride out their heat with an alpha. At first things are ok, but soon Dekker is overwhelmed and after being approached by two alphas, he changes his mind, only for a third to join in and while Dekker says no, the three alphas continue to rape him. Only being stopped when Ryker makes them. From that point on, Ryker and Dekker's relationship changes and Ryker helps Dekker go through his heat, not only once but twice, ending in pregnancy.
Sarah Haven did an awesome job in telling Dekker's side of how he felt, his denial and the pain he went through during the attack, the aftermath and everything afterwards. Ryker is a strong alpha who knows that they are fated mates and at first his method of wooing Dekker is too strong but he learns to listen to his omega and soon they are falling in love.
Multiple babies makes for one uncomfortable omega. The author did a great job telling how the journey towards birth felt for both characters. I really enjoyed this story, even though it is a very difficult topic to read.

Fated enemies...not so much. Ryder and Dekker started out not liking each other being business partners but they were drawn to each other. This story had some intense subject matter and I'm glad the author gave the readers a heads up prior...sensitive readers will need it. I really felt for Dekker...so much trauma but it was so nice that he had Ryder by his side. The two were like oil and water but eventually things between them begin to mesh well. The author is very detailed in the dramatic scenes and you feel you are in the heat of the action. This was lengthy but it was a page turner. I got teary...I got the laughter...especially when Dekker kept threatening to punch Ryder in the throat..LOL but all in all this was one of the most interesting alpha/omega/mpreg romances I have read in awhile and I'm glad I had a chance to read. I didn't get to first three books in the series and didn't feel like I was missing anything critical in this story. This was a good standalone and if the series continues I'm all in.

I loved this because of the way it portrays Dekker coming to terms with the trauma. It's different for everyone, but the way he tried to deny what happened before seeing it for himself is spot on. Being in that moment can shut your brain down to things that it won't acknowledge until it's forced to. Beyond that, I absolutely loved Dekker and Ryder. The way they bicker is hilarious, but I also appreciate the way they grow together. Also, Ryder is kind of dumb for going after the one alpha on his own but it seems obvious why he would do that. His man was hurt by him and he'd been hidden. I'm glad he was captured but oooof! It was suspenseful waiting to see if he got to Dekk. High five to Mr Jones in realizing his growing pack needs more things happening, like security and safer get-togethers, as well. I think that is definitely something that should be addressed in a future book, Jones getting more alphas or even omegas who are part of a security/police force for the pack. They're basically a small town, so they need one.
I had a little trouble with some of the initial underlying premise of this story (how do two guys who can barely stand each other go into business together?), but overall I loved the story and the characters of Dekk and Ryder. There is some drama and trauma in the story, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive. Dekk goes into heat and decides he wants a baby. With his family's blessing, he decides to go to a 'get-together' to find an alpha to get him pregnant. Some alphas won't take no for an answer and it gets rough. Ryder comes to Dekk's rescue. When Dekk goes into heat again, he still wants a baby, so Ryder says he will be the daddy. Is he just being generous or is there something underneath the tension and bickering between them. Will they just share a child or will they find something more? Very enjoyable once I got past my initial skepticism of the business relationship.

Watch out for the rabbit hole. Dekk invested in a business with Ryder. They joked and teased like brothers, who barely tolerated each other. Ryder initially felt a connection, but didn't act on it. Dekk was going into heat and decided he wanted to have a baby, so he went to a hookup event. He lost his nerve and didn't know how to say no at first. When he spoke up, no one listened. He was attacked by two Alphas and Ryder came to his rescue. Dekk crawled deep into the denial hole. Ryder tried to give him a supportive way out. Does Dekk ever reach out for help? Does Dekk tell his dads? Does his trauma become an anvil? Are the rapists brought to justice? Can Mr Jones fix things. Is Pine Woods Falls safe? Nice story. Ryder is great, Dekk needs to grow up. Nice story. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Dekker Baines and Ryder Remington are characters with an enjoyable story.
Dekker is looking to start a family. Without an alpha, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Unfortunately, that decision landed him in real trouble. Ryder came to his rescue and witnesses the impact of his attack. Dekker goes into heat- again- the following month, Ryder is there to offer his help.
Can they manage to admit their truth for the sake of a potential family?
How did these two manage to go into and remain in business, is anyone's guess. Talk about rubbing one another the wrong way... until they didn't.

This was my first time reading this series. I'll definitely be going back and reading the first three. Dekker and Ryder are partners in a bar that they co-own in Pine Wood Falls. They are total opposites and don't quite see eye to eye. Dekker is an Omega and is ready to start a family. He goes to a "get-together" ans is assaulted. Ryder is called to come and help him. The next time Dekker goes into heat Ryder, an Alpha says he''ll help him. This was really good, full of emotion! Really enjoyed the story!

This is the first book I've read in this series but not by the author and I enjoyed it. Dekker and Ryder are partners in a bar but they don't get along. Dekker wants a family and decides to go get together. He was attacked and Ryder rescued him. Eventually, they end up sharing a heat together and they start a family. Their book is romantic, some angst, great friends and family, some intense moments and I read the book in one sitting. It's the last book in this series and I planned on reading the other books in this series.
I liked reading Perfectly Mismatched and I enjoyed the premise and backdrop story. But what I couldn't get out of my head to understand, hence the 4 stars instead of the 5 stars, is the fact that Dekker and Ryder got together. How did these two end up starting a business together and how did they stay in business together..I just didn't buy it.

I’ve always liked this series I mean it’s not your typical omega/alpha book. Some scenes are kinda explicted and you can have a hard time reading it but it’s a reality opener into just because you didn’t read it didn’t mean it didn’t happen. I liked this book and this authors creative way of writing hope to read more.
So the omega is g4ng r4ped and he says "no" and "stop" and "it hurts". And then when he finally has sex with his fated mate, who has been taking care of him since the assault, he says almost the same thing. And the alpha says things along the lines of "take it". I couldn't get over the similarities between the assault and the first time between the fated mates.

This was a great story. Loved the storyline. This is book four in the series and was a wonderful addition. The characters are interesting and intriguing with lots of twists and turns. Great Read from start to finish.
This series just gets better and better. I absolutely loved their love/hate relationship. It has just enough angst. Ryder is the sweetest alpha and will literally do anything to make Dekk happy. Looking forward to more of the series.
Sarah Havan is a new to me author. I really like this book it was a great read. I didn't realize it was a part of a series. I'll have to find the rest of the series ant read it.
