In Stitchness and in Health is the 10th book in the Knitorious Murder Mystery series!
Love is in the air when Harmony Lake hosts the celebrity wedding of the century.
But, everyone in town is tangled up in knots when the famous bride and groom have second thoughts.
The big day seems even less likely when the wedding planner is murdered and the blaring of police sirens replaces the ringing of wedding bells.
Can I figure out who tied the knot around the wedding planner’s neck? I vow to unravel the clues and find the killer before the big day.
If you like your cozy mysteries with a bit of humour, small town Canadian life, a hint of romance, a close circle of quirky, lovable characters that you wish you knew in real life, dogs and cats, and free knitting patterns, there's something in this series for you.
Clean read: no graphic violence, sex, or strong language.
It's been awhile since I read the print version of this one, so it was fun to revisit Harmony Lake and hang out with Meg and her circle of friends. I won't detail the plot as others will have done so, so will simply say it starts with celebrity wedding planning and ends up with a murder investigation, all while Meg and Eric finalize their whirlwind wedding plans. I grew to love the people of Harmony Lake and bet you will, too, so it was fun to hear their voices, so to speak. Narrator Zim Avaltrades does an admirable job given the size of the cast. The beginning of each chapter is simply announced, ie "Chapter 4", and the only voice I could quibble with was that of Eric, whose dialogue seemed a bit too measured, for lack of a better word. Then again, he's a cop, so a thoughtful, measured rate does seem an appropriate choice even if it threw me.
As for the mystery, as noted, it was satisfactory if a bit sad. I'd actually forgotten whodunit since it's been some time since I read the book but even then it took me some time to put the clues in order again, so kept even a former, albeit forgetful reader guessing. Sophie the dog, a corgi, is, of course, a favorite of mine, especially with her newfound bilingual abilities. You're just going to have to trust me on that but it'll all make sense at the end. You'll also marvel at Meg's relationship with ex-husband Adam, father of daughter Hannah.
Bottom line, it was fascinating to see the community members come forward to support Meg and Eric when they....oh, oops, never mind. I almost gave away a plot twist and, trust me, there were a few as well as parallel story lines and viable suspects. Author Reagan Davis, who provided me with the audio code, weaves a good story with likable people who could be out own neighbors, an adorable corgi, and intriguing mystery. Put it all together and you've got another winner.
Original review:
I'm short on time today but wanted to get a quick review out. I enjoyed this book and am already looking forward to the next one. The characters and their interplay and relationships with other are well defined and I genuinely felt like I knew them and would have loved an invite to the wedding. I won't detail the plot, others will, but will say that weddings play a central role in the plot. Some humor, lots of twists and turns, and people you'll like, plus weddings. What not to like? Well, aside from murder? Great read, one I almost finished in one sitting.
The town is gearing up to entertain a celebrity wedding that has everyone excited. Unfortunately, the bride, whom Meg knows from a previous encounter, and groom decide to cancel the wedding in Harmony Lake. What will happen to all the planning and the time invested by the businesses who were involved with the wedding? Instead of celebrating a wedding, they are knee deep in a murder of the wedding planner. Who did this and what was the motive? There were plenty of twists and turns in the clues and in identifying the murderer and it will surprise you. I love how the life of the characters are interlaced in with the murder. Not everyone is able to do that very well. I felt as motivated as Meg was throughout the story to solve the murder.
This is a great cozy mystery filled with all the things I love...great characters, great storyline, great family/friendships, and romance! The murder mystery itself has a cast of suspects, and the author kept me guessing throughout the entire book. I admired Meghan’s independence and intelligence. Absolutely loved this book and look forward to the next book in the series! If you haven’t read any stories in the series, you are missing out! Highly recommend!
I received this book as a beta reader for an honest opinion.
Eric and Megan are planning their wedding when Eric gets tied up trying to solve the latest murder. A celebrity wedding is going to be held in Harmony Lake and the town is a buzz. But unfortunately they find Sebastian froze to death behind Notorious Knits. Megan works also trying to find the killer.
I loved how they had so many suspects and the weapon that was used was fun! This is a new author to me but really enjoyed her writing. Will read future books from her.
I received a copy for free from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I own an e-copy of the book but decided to listen to the book while traveling. In Stitchness and in Health is the tenth book in the Knitorious Murder Mystery series.
Our story begins with the announcement of the celebrity wedding of the century for Harmony Lake being hijacked to another country. Celebrity couple Megan and Eric are offered the wedding by the Jules. So, Harmony Lake will be able to host a wedding and all the vendors get paid without the supplies going to waste.
At the same time, Seb, short for Sebastian, is found the next morning frozen to death in the parking lot of the pub. There are plenty of suspects and there is a deadline. Megan and Eric would like to wrap it up for a non-worry wedding and honeymoon.
I loved the multitude of suspects and their various reasons for possibly killing Seb.
The killing weapon and it’s disposal was ingenious. Can’t wait for the next episode. The narrator Zim Avaltrades made it an enjoyable listen.
I loved this book. The killer was pretty obvious right from the start but I enjoyed picking up on the clues, to see if my suspicions were right. The disposal of the murder weapon was very unusual and despite that being the reason the killer was unmasked, I thought it was very clever. This is book ten in the series and Megan and Eric finally tie the knot and while it does work as a standalone, I think it works best if you know the characters and what delightful characters they are. It's nice that such a small town gets on so well with there neighbours and everybody feels like family, I definitely don't want one of the regulars to turn out to be a killer. There is a lot of murders at Harmony Lake but then again if there was no murder to investigate Megan wouldn't have a reason to put her knitting needles down. Looking forward to the next book. Just days away from the celebrity wedding of the century, Harmony Lake is in full swing when the news breaks that the couple are already married. Rather than let everybody's hard work go to waste the town talks Harmony Lake own celebrity couple into walking down the aisle. The pressure is on to turn it into Megan's dream wedding and stumbling over a dead body doesn't help. Especially as all the suspects are connected to the wedding plans. Can Megan and Eric find the killer before they have to leave for there honeymoon? I like the narrator. She continues to entertain and bring a fun mystery to life. I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntary left this review
Definitely another great read. Who knew how many people were needed for celebrity wedding! Again this book brings more interesting characters and a fascinating mystery.
I love this series and this book 10 adds so much depth and characterization to the series. Paralleling storylines that move the story along at a good clip unfolding as it goes to a really exciting ending. I love this author she is just so good!!
Love this series. The protagonists are so cute together. This book was a great addition to the series. The storyline was interesting and the mystery while well plotted didn't tax my brain. The characters are typical small town residents who have gossip down to a science. A fun and relaxing read.
There was supposed to be a celebrity wedding in town but when the bride and groom elope they offer the entire thing to Meg and Gabe gratis! They have to pull everything together in a week which they are working hard on doing. A murder throws a monkey wrench into everything! Megs determined to help her chief of police hubby to be as much help as possible. No one wants a murder investigation hanging over their honeymoon.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

Another wonderful entry in the series finds a celebrity wedding coming to Harmony Lake. Or does it?
This has been a surprise series for me, I'd stumbled on it in Kindle Unlimited. I've been enjoying it so far, and this was no exception. I've enjoyed visiting the small town and the residents.
I do have one question- Adam had a girlfriend for about two books then I don't remember her ever being mentioned again. Either I missed something or she just got dropped. And my one complaint- there was a lot of talk about the actual wedding- that we didn't see!!
We've gotten invested in these characters and I think we deserved to see them get married. It seems like the wedding got scrapped and got passing mentions in the epilogue. I was really disappointed by that.
A celebrity wedding is canceled, Megan is given the venue and all the other things by the bride. A murder almost throws their Christmas Eve wedding fora loop but they find the culprit in time.
I'm loving this series! Megan and Eric are a wonderful partnership; they're excellent in their own spheres and work well together. The different personalities and relationships are charming, for the most part. I'm all for maturity and modern families, but the "husbands-in-law" is a bit excessive! The mystery is developed well and offers plenty of viable suspects and a logical solution. The pacing holds the reader's interest and, although I'm not a fan of present tense storytelling, the writing is very fine.
This is a fantastic book in a great series. Once again we're treated to a well written cozy with interesting characters. The relationships between the characters are completely believable, as well as their dialogue. All in all this is just a good cozy mystery. I received an ARC of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily providing an honest review.
When the biggest wedding of the year includes a murder there's no one you would rather have around than Megan soon to be Sloane. Solid mystery, great cast of characters and an adorable corgi. What else could you need for a comfy afternoon read.
Love this series. The writer does such an excellent job of bringing her characters and the small town to life. It makes you wish it was a real place to visit.
Reagan Davis knows how to keep fiber artists that have a love of murder mysteries reading! Another fantastic installment. I'm especially excited to read on and see what happens next for Meg!
