Chapter 1 Worldbuilding

Notes: This takes place in an imaginary kingdom in what could be considered alternate Earth in alternate Regency era because while I love HRs, I don’t have the confidence to write an era appropriate story without committing egregious historical sins.

She looked at the turbulent waters and reflected the folly of jumping in. She knew she should. It was not only her duty as a daughter, but a matter of decency. Her mother had loved her before her change and had kept on loving her after. Hicaria, her mother, deserved to have her own daughter fully present at her own funeral.

“Maybe, I am not so lost after all,” she mused after in between the biting shocks. “Or maybe, I am more broken than I originally thought.”

That was because the river didn’t exist and the water forcing her to endure the pain each time they brushed her skin was nothing more than the product of her own imagination. Her physical body wasn’t even standing.

At first it was really good like the whole au of Naruto being Spider-Man but then like halfway through, it went on a whole side tangent on this one character and Itachi. Turns out, it’s their oc! I thought it was an actual character, I was so confused when I couldn’t find anything about them so then I got annoyed because a self insert became the main focus and they didn’t even have a happy ending so it was all that for what….and then the main couple had such a rush ending.

WOW, what a fucking quote *screams into pillow*

summary: mikasa, a witch, wakes to find her village destroyed and her coven slaughtered by the scouts, a cult of witchhunters. captured and brought before their leader, eren, she is spared because as the last surviving witch, she’s the only one who can give them answers. before mikasa can be interrogated, a pack of wolves attacks, killing the entire cult and leaving only eren alive. now, lost in the frozen wilderness, mikasa and eren must rely on each other to survive.

i first read you are the knife i turn inside myself back in 2021 when it was first published, and it quickly made its way onto my list of favorite eremika fics. enemies-to-lovers is, in my opinion, one of the best romance tropes, but rarely is it executed well. HOWEVER, littlerossette managed to pull it off perfectly in under 50k words. this one-shot is truly enemies-to-lovers at its absolute finest. these characters don’t just dislike each other–they DESPISE each other.

i can't explain how much of a thrill i had rereading this fic. i loved seeing how eren and mikasa’s relationship slowly shifts from unbridled hatred to a grudging trust, and eventually something far deeper than either of them expected. the build up was so well done: witnessing their hostile glares gradually soften into lingering, longing glances, and how every repulsed reaction to a touch slowly transform into a desperate need to be near each other–it was so fucking intense gahhhh. like the tension between them had me stopping every few sentences just to roll around in my bed and scream into my hands 😩

ALSO the writing is absolutely incredible. littlerossette weaves together the most beautiful sentences that pierced straight through me and made a home in my heart. i found myself underlining and highlighting entire paragraphs at a time. it baffles me sometimes how talented fanfic writers can be, like how am i reading this masterpiece for free?

long story short: everyone and their mothers needs to drop everything and read this fic NOW. tbh, you don’t even need to have seen attack on titan, the characters and the story stand on their own. read this if you want to experience the best enemies to lovers romantasy everrrr

God I think I might actually be addicted, every moment of my existence is spent thinking about Shane and liya, to the point where I don't think it's healthy...

Anyways, the fic was good the only bone I have to pick is that I really wish there was more like competition, like Ilya won to many things in comparison to Shane like it didn't feel like an equal playing field by the end. And because they were on the same team I didn't get my hit of enemies tension 😢

I love that she had Luna as Lana Del Rey. I wouldn’t have paired the two but I am eating it up. Love the song she chose. I also love the usage of Pansy Parkinson. We should definitely start off fics with “Pansy Parkinson” way more
