Lucas’s sister, Katherine, smuggles Rachel to their home planet in the Devon system, but when they arrive, Prince Draven and the soldiers of Nightwatch wait to kill them. Seriously wounded in battle on another world, Lucas has no idea of the danger facing his sister and Rachel, or that the Valac are fighting to surround his home world. His entire family may die before he can do anything to save them. But stories of Rachel and Earth are spreading, even as Nightwatch strives to arrest or kill all those who learn the truth. Recall the Earth is the second book in the Guardian Knights of Terra series.

My Review Number 167:

This review is on Recall The Earth, The Guardian Knights of Terra Book Two by Kyle Pratt. This is the second book I have read by this Sci-Fi author. It is a Sci-Fi Space Opera MSF story set 300 years into the future.

The story continues from Book One with Marine Cadet Lucas Baldwin badly injured in a crash landing on Prior Delta from a Valac missile attack. He alone survived the crash, but is unable to get help. The only thing Lucas can do is try to survive the approaching Valac troops looking for him.

Rachel, Katherine and Naomi are trying to escape Prince Draven’s guards who have been ordered by Draven to be killed to keep the dirty secret about Earth’s existence from the public. It’s touch and go for the women just to survive.

Rachel and her friends fate rests in the hands of Katherine’s father, Lord Admiral Farold Baldwin, the Marquis of Devon. He must defend them against Prince Draven and Star Chamber King Aelfric’s Nightwatch troops who want to arrest the women for speaking treason about Earth against the king’s decree.

The rumors that Rachel is the “Daughter of Earth” have spread far and wide among the slaves called Helots. The truth about Earth could bring about open rebellion with the Star Chamber kingdom and must be stopped at all costs. Prince Draven will use any means necessary to keep the secret of Earth from becoming public.

The mystery of Rachel deepens when the Valac attack and close in on the defenders of Lord Admiral Farold Baldwin at his home. The Valac seem to know about Rachel and begin to sing or communicate with her. What they have to say will determine everyone’s fate.

The plot twists and deepens with the devious actions of Price Draven and King Aelfric against Lord Baldwin and everyone involved with Rachael. It is clear the secret of Earth is the reason the Auxilium/Mage is at war with the Valac and why the King wants to keep it a secret.

I give this book Five Stars because the story is interesting and full of suspense. The plot moves at a fast pace with plenty of kingdom palace intrigue. The main characters are well developed and believable. The dialogue and writing style are excellent. Book Two ends on another cliff hanger that makes you want to read Book Three as soon as it becomes available.

Keep reading good science fiction and let me know when you find an interesting novel or author.

Book Two in the Guardian Knights of Terra series ended too soon. Evil Prince Draven is determined to gain power and destroy anyone who mentions that Earth still exists. Refuting his claim is Rachel, a woman abducted from Earth and tortured by aliens. Rescued by Lucas, a nobleman, she is living proof that what the king has told his people is false. Lucas’s family is threatened, along with their servants, when they harbor Rachel and protect her. Can they survive a plot to see them all dead? Swift action, sympathetic characters, and believable world building will have you eagerly turning pages.

I received this book as a gift.
I love this series, I went from book one, which I read in one sitting to this one which I also read in one sitting, in other words, I read both in one sitting! I wish the next book was out then I would probably read that one in one sitting as well! I loved Kyle Pratt's Post Apoc series Strengthen What Remains, and wasn't sure if I would enjoy a Sci-Fi!! I was so Wrong! This series is so good! Highly Recommended! A MUST READ!!

This story did not flow quite as smoothly as the first book, though I still found it entertaining. This book ended in a cliffhanger which happens unfortunately to be one of my pet peeves. I find it funny that the first book also ended in a cliffhanger, but in the drama I didn’t even realize it. I hope the author is planning to write very quickly so we, his loyal readers, can survive the suspense.

Sci fi with a difference!

What story with a difference! The plot is strong, the characters are rich and varied, and overall it was a darn good read! I’ll even forgive the cliffhanger because it’s the perfect ending.
