~{18.08.2021}~ 🌿 Book Review: Harsh Realities 🌿
"At a personal level one should have a practice that works for oneself, not just because I am saying it, but there is a certain way of doing things, leading life, and I have a strong belief that if one does that, then the stresses on life dramatically reduce.”
Harsh Mariwala.
It's not often, basically never, that a nonfiction book graces my feed, but this calls for an exception. Harsh Realities is by far one of the nicest books I've picked up this year, and I'm thankful it came my way and that I took a chance on it.
I don't know how many of you are familiar with the work of Mariwala or Marico, which deals with areas of health, beauty and wellness. Mariwala himself is a simple man, and his grounded philosophy comes through in his writing. He believes in discipline, and compartmentalization. None of these things come easy, but they are good things to strive towards.
This book is a unique take on how entrepreneurs make their own roads, regardless of the fame, fortune, or family background that they come from. This is key to a successful businessperson. You can't be complacent.
If you are someone who has the idea of a small business in the back of your mind, or if you are already running one, I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HANDS DOWN. You will learn so much, and most of all, you will be inspired.
Harsh Realities will give you a glance into Mariwala's inner life and it's workings. You will learn about the struggles and the difficulties, and through it all, how his wit and stamina withstood the test of time. I think the way he shines through and just gives this image of a humble, grounded, and intensely successful human being is what inspired me the most. From the get go, there is an unique spirit of innovation in him, and I think this is one of the most important things you need if your business is to withstand the difficult years. And we all have them.
It's a 4.3/5 for me. As I mentioned, all my lovely bookstagrammers who are in the throes of their own business and making it take shape and form, this book is a revelation.
