Many of Dean’s original novels are also under hidden pen names for marketing reasons.
Dean has also written books and comics for all three major comic book companies, Marvel, DC, and Dark Horse, and has done scripts for Hollywood. One movie was actually made.
Over his career he has also been an editor and publisher, first at Pulphouse Publishing, then for VB Tech Journal, then for Pocket Books.

I'm almost a hundred pages in, and still not invested in the story. So I've decided not to finish it. Not because the book is bad per se, but because it's not my bag. I'm just not into fantasy that features unicorns (too girly) and magic spells that enable you to download knowledge directly into your brain (seems like a cheat). ALL EVE'S HALLOWS is to the fantasy genre what MEN IN BLACK is to sci-fi. This makes it feel somewhat derivative, especially since other aspects of the book reminded me strongly of Kim Harrison's THE HOLLOWS series, which debuted one year before. And like Kim Harrison, author Dean Wesley Smith employs a light, tongue-in-cheek writing style that I don't much care for in novels about demons and sorcery.
Story of an ex-Marine who finds out magic is real and she holds strong magical power. Based in modern day New York City. Some violence, but overall light. No romance or sex. Reminds me a bit of Amy Lane's Vulnerable, which I really liked.
