Summaries are really helpful in understanding the basic plot of each act and scene
Commentaries help point out hidden symbols and define vocab/phrases unfamiliar to this age

I kinda wish I'd read this before I wrote an academic article about Macbeth adaptations... 50ish years on, it's still a great overview of the play, with some clever insights into different interpretations.

Sad, I know. I never really got into Macbeth. And so the Cliff Notes were my friends. shame, shame

I like helpful things. Even if I think said helpful thing reads way too much into the work it is analyzing.
