William Aldridge was not a nice man. He was an absent father, and when he wasn’t absent, he was terrible to his sons. After his death, these brothers who barely know each other are bound by the terms of William's will and have to live in the small town of Baker's Creek for eighteen months.
But here's the thing about William. The more I get to know him from his letters to his sons and their significant others, and from the history the brothers are able to dig up, the more I realize there's a lot to William we have yet to discover. And just maybe, he's not as awful as we think.
This time we get the hockey player's story. Mills is on leave from the team after a knee injury, so he and his three-year-old son, Arden, have settled in Baker's Creek. And with all the pairing up that's been going on with the Aldridge boys, babies are popping up everywhere. They really need to hire a nanny, but the will’s stipulation says only family or friends can care for the children.
Hadley Heywood is back in Baker's Creek, a place she swore never to return to. But her mother needs help in the bakery and her father needs full-time care, for now. Oh, and there's also that bit of catching her live-in boyfriend cheating, which results in Hadley being jobless as well as homeless. But maybe the Aldridge brothers' proposal can be mutually beneficial. Caring for the Aldridge children is a no-brainer since Hadley adores kids, and there's something extra special about little Arden.
Sweet, adorable Arden may just be my favorite Aldridge, and he thinks the sun rises and sets on Hadley. It doesn’t hurt that there's an intense attraction between Mills and Hadley, at least until Mills makes a classic Aldridge move.
I love absolutely everything about this book! Burgoa gives us surprising dashes of humor, a little steam, and all the heart we've come to expect from these brothers. Mills and Hadley are perfect together, and that little cutie pie, Arden? Well, he's definitely the first child character I’ve ever swooned over.
If you’re new to the Aldridges, you might enjoy the series best if you start at the beginning, but make sure you add them to your TBR now! You'll adore these ornery billionaires who love their women like no other. With themes of family, community and unconditional love, these brothers will win your heart. Full of laughs, angst, and all the feels, you won’t want to miss this one!!
