Beautiful image consultant Cristal Sparks has decided to open up her dating options like never before since she feels she’s going nowhere in her dating life, but not everyone is on board with her decision and they let her know it, especially one of her best friends as well as a gossip social media channel. But there is another social media channel that is all for Cristal’s decision, and the two of these channels rise in popularity for their contrasting opinions. But regardless of anyone’s opinions, Cristal is undeterred in her journey and meets a man she thought she’d never meet, and it shocks her friends, her community, and everyone else who wants to meddle in her personal dating life because of who this man is and what he does for a living, which puts her at a celebrity-like status. She soon realizes that divesting becomes much bigger than she ever thought possible, and she has no idea what’s she’s in for when it comes to her new dating interest in more ways than one. It will be a journey of several firsts, new experiences, new possibilities, and true colors will be revealed. But most of all, it will be a first-time journey she will never forget . . . . But will it make or break her image? The Divested series is standalone series which features women on their divesting journeys, so the books don’t have to be read in order.
This was the first and last book I will read by this author. We all know that racism exist, but this whole book was about 2 people in an interracial relationship and the entire d**n city that was against it. Then you have the divested divas who were all for the BWWM I'm all for loving who you want to love, but don't bash the black community because you decided to date outside your race. On top of that it didn't even have in sex scenes in it to make it somewhat enjoyable.
This story sums up a topic that I have discussed with several women over the years. I on the positive side and them on the negative side. Like any sensitive subject, no one comes to a definitive conclusion and no minds are changed. I just say that people should mind their business and keep their options to themselves unless directly affected. The story did, however, provide additional food for thought.
Sorry I like my books with happy endings I felt cheated and I know I should have read the synopsis of the book closer and I know thats life, but I read to get away from life sometimes. Wish I could have enjoyed it more, author was interesting, hop to read more from her with hea.
