I love when I read a story that is a bit different than I’ve come to expect from an author- and Beauty in the Darkness is just that. A darker, more heart breaking, more complicated and painful love story from Nikki Ash- but that also makes the love it spins all the more rewarding and beautiful. I adored Gio and Aria’s darkly beautiful story.
Our story centers on Giovanni Valentino, future leader of his family’s escort business/brothel- a responsibility that puts him in the company of evil men. Sent to collect a debt from an upscale client, Giovanni discovers that the vile senator is keeping the innocent Aria against her will in his basement. Though she’s the prisoner, she captures him immediately, and resolves to take her for himself- pulling Aria into his dark world, forcing her to trade one cage for another- but a cage that is far more appealing to Aria since it includes the man that has captured her attention- and ultimately her heart.
While I’ve come to adore the soft and swoony side of Nikki Ash stories, Finding Beauty in the Darkness is a great reminder of her talent and versatility as an author. She’s been known to weave elements of darkness and trauma into her stories, but this story really dwells there. There are triggering elements, and this world is a corrupt and dangerous one- but what a beautiful background to demonstrate what Nikki writes so well- about the unique and unpredictable paths love can take to bring people together, and about the unconquerable and restorative power of true love.
Aria’s story is beyond traumatic- she’s suffered terribly at the hands of an evil and perverse man. And while parts of her story threatened to break me, they never broke her. She’s a fighter- and I loved watching her find her own happiness, find her own healing and path forward. And, while perhaps not visible on the surface given his capturing of Aria and his life path, Gio brings all of the things that I’ve come to love about a Nikki Ash hero- endless devotion to his love, the willingness to sacrifice for her happiness, compassion and care for her needs.
And through it all, something beautiful is born from the dark of their journey. There is light even in the most corrupt of places, there is goodness even in the worst of us, because we have the capacity to love. And that is what I loved most about this powerful story- two characters mired in darkness find healing and hope in their love for each other- and that, yes that, is the Nikki Ash swoon we all have come to love. One of my favorites of hers!

I really enjoy Nikki Ash books but I was very surprised to see she wrote a dark romance, because if you’ve ever read Nikki Ash she’s the queen of HEA and accidental pregnancies.
I was super concerned about how it was going to go since it is the opposite of what she normally writes but I ended up being pleasantly surprised, sorry for doubting you Nikki.
There was a part though, where the mcs split at the end and it was over a year and I freaking hate when authors do that. But Nikki made it so the female mc was able to heal and accomplish everything she wanted in life and lost during that time, so I couldn’t even be mad about it 🙄

Twisted events written with beautiful descriptions abound in this book, I'm astounded by Nikki Ash's imagination furthermore her talent blows me away.
Aria and Giovanni meet under circumstances that alter the course of both of their lives in tremendous ways, the individuals you meet at the beginning of this book are a far cry from their future selves while following their journey kept me glued to the pages. Putting this book down once I started it was impossible! How these two could come together kept me turning pages until I got to the inevitable conclusion, which blew my mind along the way. Recovery from her ordeal seems difficult while finding herself smack in the middle of another moreover Aria is unable to trust Giovanni and wants no part of him or his plans for her. Giovanni has his work cut out for him making Aria see him in a different light while also keeping her, which doesn't help her trust him. Their journey had me emotionally consumed, especially Aria's journey. The twists and turns bring us to a beautiful conclusion for this couple, and I was glad to join them on their journey.
Both Aria and Giovanni have more than earned their places in my harem, Aria's given us some beautiful views!!

Wow!!! I did not see Gio's story going that way. Wow. I'm just blown away. With the little I got to see of him in Ashley's story, I definitely didn't think THIS would be his ending. Well not really ending, but his story. His life.
Giovanni's whole life was prepped and planned for him to take over the family business. Taking over as the leader of the Valentino organization, was what he was born to do. Being a mob boss, is what he excels at. He''s ruthless when he needs to be, and always in control. Until he meets the one person he can't seem to control himself around.
Aria has had everything in her life chosen for her. No decision has been her own. Even when she was free, her life was dictated. But especially when she was held captive. Until she is saved.
Both living in worlds of darkness, each finds the color of life in the arms of the other. Only for it to be ripped apart time and time again. Sometimes you have to love someone enough to let them go, for their own good.
That is what this story is about. It's beautiful. It's rough. It's dirty. It's hard. But the love shines through. The love they have for each other is so strong, that they have to do what's best for the other, even though it kills them to do it. Even though they give up their color for the other, and choose to live in a world of darkness, they do it with the love of their lives well being in mind.
Love is selfless. And will always find a way. ♡♡♡

WOW! I did not expect this story at all.
Giovanni is the eldest son of one of the biggest mafia families out west in Vegas. Originally from Italy, his family has groomed their sons to take over the family business. He has big responsibilities and one is maintaining the Bordello and protecting the women at all times while keeping each client happy.
Aria has lost her mom recently and has had a nightmare of a situation happen to her. She’s broken beyond repair and days or months have passed but she has no idea what’s coming or going.
Aria and Giovanni meet under the worst circumstances but he vows to protect her and each day that passes he just wants her and her happiness.
The pain and abuse Aria endures cannot be comprehended but she vows for it not to break her, she keeps a positive mind. There’s only 1 person that can break her and it’s Giovanni and his family.
The love these two have for each other is so strong! I enjoyed Aria & Giovanni's story so much.

I finished this book last night and my heart and mind are still back there in the story. It’s definitely one of those books that will stay with me long after it’s over. Because those characters got their hooks into me something fierce and didn’t let up.
The story itself was a heart wrenching one. The things Aria is put through is enough to break anyone. But this girl has a fight in her that many don’t. She didn’t let her past define her future. Which no one could blame her if she did. Just prepare your heart now for the things she is about to endure. Ash doesn’t go easy on her story or the details.
The romance between both Aria and Giovanni absolutely devoured me. I loved watching these two fall for one another. Especially our tough and serious Gio. For a man that never intended to marry, he sure took to the part of a doting boyfriend well. Those types of guys are always the most fun to watch fall for their woman.
Another fabulous, beautifully written story that had me under it’s trance long after it’s over. All. The. Stars.

In full transparency, I am an audiobook proofer for Pink Flamingo Productions, who is the Producer and Publisher for this upcoming audiobook. It is narrated by Cecily Foster and Christian Leatherman. When I tell you, the story is AMAZING! There is nothing that Nikki Ash writes that I don't like. I get to proof a lot of her audiobooks and I couldn't be happier. I hadn't read/listened-to any of her work before working at PFP. Now, I'm obsessed with her stories and beg for those proofing jobs!
Cecily Foster and Christian Leather were cast perfectly for their roles. Their characterizations were spot on. They truly embodied the mc's and made them come alive. Their timing, pitch, pace, and tones were spot on. They matched each other beautifully, give you an unforgettable story and performance.

Honestly, I don't know what more to say. This story really was an amazing love story that tore apart the characters, but put them back together - and tore them apart some more. It was a wonderful read that really captured a big piece of me. I am thankful to authors that put themselves out there with stories like this that really make me want to re-read a story for the first time!

Resilience Unmasked
This is one of the darkest books from Nikki that I've read. There are multiple instances of SA, along with substance abuse, and violence. While these didn't stop me from loving the book, I do recommend checking your triggers.
Giovanni (Gio) Valentino is all kinds of alpha and dark, but he has his morals when it comes to the safety of women. It's something that initially makes him appealing. As the story goes on, the list of reasons grows.
Aria (Ari) Sutton Hightower... the things this woman is subjected to are horrible, but her strength and resilience in the adversity shines through. She's graped, beaten, and regularly abused, as well as strongly encouraged / forced to do drugs. Yet, she manages to come out on the other side. She may be weary, but I love that she's also hopeful.
Even without the drugs, I’ve trained myself to escape my mind during his torture. For several long moments, I’m free.

The heat and chemistry are great, even when Gio fights it. The twists and turns kept me enthralled, even those that were predictable. The ending is a bit untraditional but so very fitting for this couple.
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators, Christian Leatherman and Cecily Foster, are great. They bring the emotions and make this an enjoyable listen.

Wow.. this book was definitely different from Nikki’s previous books, but I loved it so much! It hit all the feels just like the first time I read it. It had some dark elements and triggers, but it was also angsty, full of emotional and swoon-worthy moments. Giovanni was everything you would want in a book boyfriend and Aria was resilient and strong even after everything she went through. My heart broke for her but I was happy she and Gio eventually get their HEA! I am really looking forward to Natalie’s book and Benjamin’s as well!

This will forever remain one of my favorite books from Nikki Ash. I fell in love with Giovanni and Aria when their story was originally published and now I've fallen even deeper in love with them with Finding Beauty in the Darkness. This book is the perfect blending of gritty, passionate, emotional, swoony, and flat-out hot. The connection that exists between Aria and Giovanni is something that is absolutely beautiful. Even as they navigate their way to each other you can feel the electricity sizzling between them. As they grow closer through all the ups and downs, emotional and physical blows, you get pulled more and more into their story until you no longer know the real world exists.

So Different, Yet So the Same
Totally not what I was expecting. This was so different than other books by Nikki Ash, but hot damn can she write dark and sweet! Gio and Aria had me glued to each page!
I was so into it being so different I just couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next, the story just wouldn’t allow me to put it down. I was so afraid I would miss something.
I’m not sure what else to say except if you love Nikki’s words then take this chance my friend, you will not be disappointed.

how can a novel with so much spice make me cry
The angst at the end was spectacular. The smüt is on point and honestly one of the heavier ones in comparison to other books I’ve read from this author.
Gio and Aria had a beautiful and tragic story that came out the other side stronger. They ended up with everything they had ever wanted. And I’m so glad.

When I got the email asking if I wanted to read this book I was so excited since Bordello is probably one of the 3 books of Nikki Ash’s that I have not read!
So here’s something you should know, this is a rebranding of her book Bordello, so if you have read that then walk on by. But if you haven’t then you simply must dive right into this dark and gritty mafia romance.
This is not a sweet story of two people, this is a rough story with raw emotions and broken people. Aria was a strong person with her whole life ahead of her, until a turn of events that could have been the end of her. Gio has the power to change people’s lives, but can he change Aria’s or will she change his?
This is a super steamy, sometimes frightening love story, and Nikki Ash knows just how to hook you in. If you haven’t read Bordello, then now is the time! It’s a must read for sure!

Seriously everytime I read a book by this author, my heart is getting an emotional ride with its hands waving in the air. This book was a brillant,emotional second chance love story. I cant even describe the feelings this story made me feel ,but all I got to say is bravo to this author.

I loved how they met, the adventure they go on together, and the ending was chefs kiss.
The banter was on fire & I loved all of the characters, both main and side.

Wow what a fantastic read!! I certainly wasn’t expecting most of this storyline at all!!! Aria had such a tough break but when Gio came and rescued her it was like a light at the end of the tunnel. You’d think wow that’s great but the twists didn’t stop there the story got even better with more dirt, more issues and more problems. The last few chapters wasn’t what I thought would happen but happy to see it end like that. It was well written and definitely sucks you right in!

When Aria & Giovanni’s story first came out a couple years ago, it was the first time I heard of Nikki Ash. And the story that made me fall in love with her writing. So going back and revisiting Aria & Giovanni’s story was like visiting friends that I haven’t seen in a while. I loved every page, chapter, and moment. I highly recommend this story.

Great Read
This book was incredibly well written and I loved the storyline.
There were moments I found myself sobbing as I read with how emotional things got.
Absolutely loved Aria and Gio and am so glad they got their happy ending.

Gio and Aria's story captivated me from the beginning. Aria has basically endured a form of torture (definitely see trigger warnings because even though I read and listen to stories that touch on these atrocities all the time, this hit me harder), and Gio becomes a guardian angel for her. And even though he tries to keep from falling for her to protect her even more, the heart wants what it wants.... Gio being from a mob family creates some serious obstacles and heart break on top of all the insane secrets revealed from Aria's past. Emotions bled through so well at times-props to the narrators for such a terrific job. The road was incredibly bumpy, but these two find a beautiful happy ending that made me smile as it was painted in my mind's eye.

Wow, this one really tugs at your heartstrings. There was just so much beauty and poignancy in Gio and Aria's story. The story is gripping, gritty and rich with powerful emotions and turmoil. Drama, twists, intensity and steam are blended with raw darkness to create a romance not soft and sweet but harsh, visceral and elemental. This is my frank, freely posted review.

An incredibly gripping storyline with intense and captivating characters. Giovanni and Aria story is intriguing and passionate. When darkness meets light! It will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride filled with all the feels. I definitely recommend this to all readers who enjoy strong alpha mob bosses and sassy strong women. Brilliantly written Nikki!!!

This book is so different to what I am used to from Nikki Ash. It was intense, emotional and very dark.
It is 100% not for the light hearted and nothing like you ever read from her before! So be careful and cautious when starting it.
Giovanni is a bad guy. His family has been a part of the „mafia“ since forever. They operate and own many businesses more promtly featured in this book a bordello.
Aria has been kidnapped and assaulted for months until she get‘s kidnapped again by Giovanni.
I enjoyed Giovanni and Aria‘s story alot! It‘s dark and intense! You will need to take a breath a couple of times because of the heavy stuff.
I am suprised how easily Nikki can switch up her tropes and subgenres. She‘s blessed us with an amazing mafia romance

With Finding Beauty in the Darkness Nikki Ash is exploring the darker side of life. This is a completely different kind of story from her earlier work. I do hope she keeps writing her sweet love stories, but this much more gritty kind of story is much appreciated too.
The story still takes place in Las Vegas and is a spin off of The Fighting Series. It is the story of Giovanni the boss of a bordello and Aria the abused stepdaughter of a senator.
It is dark, gritty and tough to read at times, but at other times so fantastically bright, that you can not NOT read on.
This is a 5 star 1 sitting read for me and to fabulous for words.

Nikki Ash blew me away with this dark and twisted mafia romance, a story like no other and one that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. Giovanni was born into the mafia and is running one of the family’s businesses, a bordello, and after taking it over, he made it even more successful, making it a high-end private club. He is protective of his workers and when one of his girls gets roughed up by a client, a senator, who owes him money, he sets him straight and then pays him a visit, and something or rather someone caught his attention there. Unable to do anything about it then, he did not forget her. Aria’s life took a turn for the worse after her mother died, held captive in a basement and forced to do unspeakable acts. Then she saw him, begged to be saved, but he left her there, and her speaking out cost her another beating. Then he comes back and saves her, brings her back to his home and nurses her back to health. Giovanni does not do romance or relationships, but there is something about Aria that penetrates the walls around his heart. He knows she is too good for his world, a world that would only bring more danger in her life, and that it does. It was great to watch these two interact and get to know each other as he keeps her safe. There is never a dull moment in this cleverly plotted story, a story with non-stop drama, angst, twists, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. There are some intense scenes that may take some out of their comfort zone, so it may be best to check with the author if you have any triggers. “Finding Beauty in Darkness” is a very fitting title for this story and Nikki Ash does just that. Thanks for another amazing story and wild ride.
🎧📚🎧 Cecily Foster and Christian Leatherman did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, while grasping every aspect of their character’s personality and demeanor to deliver a perfect portrayal of each. Leatherman nailed it as Giovanni, playing the perfect alpha boss, also showing his softer side, which he hid well from others. Foster was just as fabulous as Aria, brought out her fierceness and strength, also nailing her fear and torment. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. Their pacing and tone were right for the story, and they captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two made a great team, with voices and talent that complemented each other and a riveting performance that keeps you glued to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.
