Lady Marcella Stansfield must partake in her first London Season due to her father's unseemly gambling habit. Lady Marcella must find a wealthy suitor who will be able to both secure her future and provide congenial dowries for her four younger sisters. Will Marcella be able to find a man in London who will be able to save her family from utter ruin? Or will her tenacious curiosity tempt her into a whole other direction? A direction that leads her towards love, friendship, mysterious encounters, and murder. Read to find out, for you too will be enthralled by the Victorian world and its many vices.
An entertaining historical romance with mayhem, a touch of magic in two rings, and murder most foul. Beautiful descriptions which placed me right in Victorian England. The writing style contains some telling, which I personally enjoy in a historical, it makes it seem more like a fairytale.
My favorite part was definitely the rich cast of characters. All four main ladies (who I think will each have a book?) became good friends as they moved into their debut seasons together and the sisterhood & support was beautiful. This is Marcella's story with a bit of insta-love between her and the hero, Alexander. The teaser for Charlotte's book was at the end and sounds delightful. I can't wait for poor Louisa's book, she's definitely the cinnamon roll of the group and Lord Bradley doesn't know what he's missing. But Emilia may well have the most interesting plot for her book when it appears, she is the boldest character I've read in quite a while.

This book was such a great read. I enjoyed the story very much. The characters were lovely as well, and I’m definitely invested in them all. I love the pace of the book too, and I also liked the details that the author uses. This is a 5 out of 5 for me.
