We both know that I’ve done my best to be a good father to these children.

Sometimes, I felt like I had done right by them, but all I’ve ever had are disappointments.

I’m going to give myself one more chance to get this right now that Darby is out of the way.

Maybe they’ll listen, but I doubt it. It still doesn't change how I feel a family should be run.

And you …

You’re always so quick to believe the lies of children.

Honestly, it makes me laugh.

If what they told you makes you sleep better at night, feel free to imagine that it's true.

Anyway, let me tell you what happened before he went off to find his sister.

And if you still want to find some comfort in what he’s already said, then by all means--continue believing their lies.

They’ll fight me; I can already see it in their eyes.

But you know what they say.

You can’t keep a good man down.

Genre: Horror
Type: Book 5 from Inferno series
POV: First Person - Male
Rating:

I’m being a damn good father to both of them right now by stepping in and doing my part when I could just let them figure it out on their own.

All Luke Greene ever wanted was to raise his children right and continue the family legacy. But it has been proven once again to be more difficult than expected.

Just when you thought Luke had his fill, he’s back for more and seemed not intending to stop anytime soon. I like that this one was slightly different than the others which were starting to become repetitive. He had a different plan for these children, and I enjoyed the lessons he imparted.

Note:
I’m intrigued on a certain thing but can’t say much to avoid spoilers

aye Papi

I can't get enough of this guy.

I find myself pressing my legs together just waiting for him to tell me I've been good.

The sins of our...mothers.

Let it trickle down as slow as blood on glass.

There are no secrets here.

Daddy is always watching.

Even the ones who thought they were so clever.

it's best to keep the family together.

*4.75/5.0 stars because I am biased and love everything Yolanda Olson.*

The Prodigal Son has returned..
Yes, the incestuous bastard is back and "No" Bryden didn't dance on his grave erupting his spirit. This is what was before and for every legacy, the heir needs to be moulded. Even nearing death Pader is a force to be reckoned with, cunning as a fox and probably one of the very few characters in a book that actually scares me.
Pader knows best.

Holy fuckin shit!! Every time I see inside Luke Greene’s mind I’m left dumbfounded. This man is complicated beyond belief!! I read this story in one go. I don’t think I even stopped to blink. To say I was engrossed would be an understatement.

We open the story reminiscing of days past, children lost, and failures unforgiven. Luke is aging and the more time passes the deeper the generations intertwine in the Greene bloodline.

“𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗱𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹.“

With each passing generation we’re left wondering how dedication to self, western ideals, and dedication to family are passed down. I mean if you’re not exposed to external forces how do you know any different? How do you know to rebel against the ‘system’?

In this story we watch Richter and Skylar, who we met in EMBERS navigate life as near-adults under Luke’s tutelage. It may be the perfect ending you’ve imagined or it may leave you screaming for more. I think it all depends on your take on life in this infernal World.

As the patriarch, Luke Greene rules his house with disturbingly prescribed family values and no one is spared. With hard lessons, Luke is ready to move on to the next presented task.

“I’m being a damn good father to both of them right now by stepping in and doing my part when I could just let them figure it out on their own.”

Being the fifth book in the series, the timeline rewinds a tiny bit to give much needed insight into the Luke’s past and current state of mind. The past cannot be undone and Luke continues to leave a debased legacy. I have to say, there were cringeworthy parts and Skylar definitely wanted to please her daddy.

The Family that keeps on giving.

We all know Daddy likes his family obedient. Daddy likes a clean house and daddy doesn’t like unruly kids. For those that have tried to disobey Daddy, always end up failing and losing the battle at the bottom of the Oubliette.

Pater just wants to keep Taylee’s legacy safe. After the stunt Darby pulled, all he’s left with are Richter and Skylar to help him accomplish that goal.

But Daddy is getting up there in age and so it’s lesson time. Time to learn the meaning of family and what being a true Greene husband and wife entails.

And like she always does, Yolanda spins the story so perfect, so engrossing, that you never see the endings coming. So just when you think it’s going to the left….skidddddd...nope…..she turns us right. HMPH. That Epilogue, yeasssssss!!! Don’t wanna spoil anything so that’s all imma say bout dat!

This continues on after Darby’s death.
Richter and Skylar are both 16 and 15. Those two are Luke’s pride, and a disgrace to humanity.

Luke fucking Greene is in his eighties now!! So how the hell is he still able to walk around, abuse, rape, and intimidate at this old age!?
And because he neared death, he started hallucinating more about his late mother and pondering his life decisions that got him to this place. So we did see more of his thoughts, but I still couldn’t figure his twisted mind out, and it infuriates me.
’I guess there was always that hope there that when she started acting like a normal, caring mother, it would stick. But it never did. And now I am who I am because of her, and I can’t say that I regret it much.’

We meet another unexpected member of the Greene family who didn’t grow up under the family’s traditional fuckery. But hey, their rotten blood runs deep, so I wasn’t surprised when we got to this: ‏’I’m going to honor him. I’m going to ensure that his legacy lives on.’ They just can’t be normal.

I have been sitting on writing a review for almost a week now. I have so much to say but too afraid to say too much. You ever love a series so much you get nervous with every page you read? Because with each page read it's closer to the end. This is by far my favorite series I have ever read. It introduced me to my favorite kind of love in books. Incest 🙈
As always, Yolanda Olson did not disappoint with the writing and the story telling in Incendiary.
Pater is older. The kids are older. Its time for Richter and Skylar to become a union. Now its daddy Pater's job to teach them the good ol ways to be a husband and wife.
I loved that although Pater is alot older now, he didnt change his sexual appetite for the younger women. I also loved that you could see in some ways his age. And the torment his mind puts him through. This book was absolutely perfect in every way possible.

Pater is back! Must read the previous Inferno stories to connect pieces and to have the full impact.
And if you have read the previous stories, you know the warnings.

In this story Pater is trying to teach his children on how to be the proper wife and husband to continue the Greene legacy. Some lessons are hard to learn, but Pater knows what to do. He knows that the Greenes' love runs deep and how to be the father they need to stop any disobedience they may show. He is also reminded of his past and finds a surprise. Oh, and that surprise?? Duuuuuuuude!

As with any Inferno series book, I found myself on the feels train. Anger, sadness, cringing, calling Pater a bastard, shocked and I even felt a little sorry for the man himself, Pater, which I never thought I would.

How is it that each time we step back into the mind of Luke that we find ourselves convinced of his way of living?

Incendiary takes the family we know and love and pushes it that step further before adding a new depth to the man we’ve all sworn ourselves too.
Dark, depraved, taboo... yes, all of these things. But by the time you’re through, you’ll understand it has to be this way, because daddy said so.

Yolanda, you’ve done it again. You've taken the evilest and most twisted man and made me love and understand him that much more.

May the Greene family live on forever.

Another book inside Luke's mind? count me in! the reasons i gave less stars is because we already saw this story from another pov's . I just wished this time around for something more messed up 🤣🤣🤣
i know , i know, what can i say, when i jump in the inferno world i'm kind of disappointed when it's to light

Damn — This series continues to be the darkest thing I’ve ever read. This book was wild AF. Anytime one of the kids talks back, boom, threatened with the obelisk 🤣 I love that we learn more about his background in this book. I definitely understood his actions better. He didn’t stand a chance. And the ending! Giving us another book to look forward to. That poor girl though LOL. Who knows what lies in store for her 😭😩 Thank you so much to Yolanda for providing an ARC! 😊

You know what ruins a good series? A reused storyline. This book was unnecessary,it tediously drags a story that was ended. It was actually boring rather than the dark horror it was hoping for.

I actually don't think I much cared for this book, and even more strangely than that, it has nothing at all to do with the f-€%ed up things that happen. Truly it just felt unnecessary altogether. The last book felt like the ending, was stated as being the end, and then this one just felt thrown in. And it felt completely out of place. Based on how the previous book ended, this one just felt like it negated the end of the last. Reading about Richter and Skyler wasn't the issue because that in and of itself could have simply been a whole new beginning, rather Luke being there after how the last book ended felt completely wrong. This whole time every book had its exact place, there was an ordered timeline that could be followed. And then there's this one, almost as if it's meant to occur before the epilogue of the last book but at the same time the epilogue clearly indicated a timeline for Skyler and Rickter that wasn't followed here.

And the story continues with Luke and his two remaining kids. It was a welcomed turn when he decided to pass on the torch to his son 🤢 and decided to not take his daughter as his wife... again 😭
I swear these books are the most dark and depressing stories I have ever read yet I just can't help myself and stop.
This series has really made me stop and think wtf is wrong with Olson for writing these books and wtf is wrong with me for wanting to read them 😩

Pater 😈

Luke is dedicated to teaching Skylar and Ritcher how to be good Greene wife and husband, to ensure his legacy lives on and strong once he's no longer here

I just can't get enough whenever we get inside his mind, it's a dark and twisted place but I live for it! 🖤

This book was just so different and tone-changing from the rest of the series. I did feel a lot like a door opening for the world that was created from these stories.
It was as twisted and crazy and every bit a mind-fuck as the rest of all the previous books.
