Prachtige gids en heel handig om snel een vogelsoort terug te vinden. Alleen blijken details over het gebied waar de soorten voorkomen intussen wel fel achterhaald.

Uses the format of the Chandler Robbins (Western Pub.) Birds of N. America, i.e., color illustrations and color range maps with the species descriptions. I got this (in 1984) along with a copy of the Peterson/Mountfort Birds of Britain & Europe, which was in the old Peterson format (black-and-white with separate central collection of color plates) - a format so unhelpful that I never used that book.

One of my most read books, always to hand, constantly in use to identify various visitors to the garden or birds seen elsewhere. Obviously bird watchers will be the ones who will love it most. Easy to use, small enough to put in your pocket, illustrations are lovely, text great, maps interesting. I've had dozens of bird books over the years but this is 100% my favourite and I think the best because it packs so much into such a small space. The larger Collins is superb but very heavy! My copy is 50 years old now and has been camping, up mountains, on the beach, abroad, on boats, it is paperback and still holding together which is amazing in itself! My copy was bought new for me in 1972 so the distribution maps are out of date, and it is interesing to compare to the latest reprint I bought for my daughter a few years ago. Pleased to see the rest of the book is still the same. Superb.
