The darkest magics feed the darkest hunger.

I will raze the Unseen realm and every abomination that lives in it. The obsidian fae abducted and tortured me, murdered my best friend, and ruined my life. After thirteen years of being the crazy girl no one wants around, I've finally found a portal to the other world. But I need an elemental to take me through it. The only one who'll do the job is Max, a sex-starved incubus who wants my body as payment for the service--and my body wants him.

Harper Goode wants to murder me. It just figures my fated mate would turn out to be a mortal bent on destroying my world and me along with it. I might've helped save both worlds twice, but I'm no hero. And the hunger won't let me rest until I've claimed Harper. How long can I resist the urge? How long before I become the monster she thinks I am?

We both have enemies hunting us. We both have inner demons to slay. If we don't kill each other, the dark forces closing in on us just might.

Anna Durand is a bestselling, multi-award-winning author of contemporary and paranormal romance. Her books have earned bestseller status on every major retailer and wonderful reviews from readers around the world. But that’s the boring spiel. Here are some really cool things you want to know about Anna!

Born on Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Anna grew up moving here, there, and everywhere thanks to her dad’s job as an instructor pilot. She’s lived in Texas (twice), Mississippi, California (twice), Michigan (twice), and Alaska—and now Ohio.

As for her writing, Anna has always invented stories in her head, but she didn’t write them down until her teen years. Those first awful books went into the trash can a few years later, though she learned a lot from those stories. Eventually, she would pen her first romance novel, the paranormal romance Willpower, and she’s never looked back since.

Fantastic book from beginning to end...

Obsidian Hunger is the fourth book in the Undercover Elementals series of paranormal romances by bestselling author Anna Durand. It’s a wonderfully written and richly descriptive novel with brilliantly drawn characters and settings. The author weaves a well-crafted action-packed paranormal romance that will easily captivate the reader from the first page to the last.

Obsidian Hunger had every element a good story should have. A solid plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel you are right there in the story, and that’s something I look for in a good book.

If you are looking for a well-written suspenseful paranormal romance with amazing characters and a gripping plot then Obsidian Hunger will not leave you disappointed. Recommended to all fans of paranormal romance and a well-deserved five stars from me.

This book was a bit of a pleasant surprise . This is not a genre that I normally enjoy, but I liked the main characters, the story was intriguing and the steamy scenes were pretty hot.
I think this book would have benefited from a duet narration. I didn't love the male narrators female voice, or the female narrators male voice.
There was a bit of the ridiculousness to this book, but overall it was pretty good and I enjoyed it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Obsidian Hunger, the fourth book in the Undercover Elementals series from Anna Durand. Anna Durand has created a fascinating world in this series, and it is adventurous, humorous, steamy and heartbreaking all at the same time.

We previously met Max in the Janusite Trilogy, where he was Lindsey's familiar, a salamander and incubus. Now that Lindsay and Nevan (the leads from the previous three books) have found their happily-ever-after, it's time for Max to find his! Little does he know it, but when he crosses paths with Harper, a mortal determined to get revenge on everyone from the Unseen, his life will change forever! Harper is strong, determined, sharp-witted and sharp-tongued! She is a true match for Max's wicked sends of humor and no-holds-barred incubus lifestyle.

Max grows from a lothario with a distrust of love into a truly devoted match for Harper. He can't explain why he's so drawn to her, but he is, and he embraces it. Harper, for her part, wants nothing to do with magical beings after a run-in in her past that left her scarred, but she can't deny the chemistry and the pull that she has to Max.

In true Anna Durand style, the writing is fantastic. There is a well-developed plot, character growth and development, a fanciful setting that makes sense in it's magical way, and so much witty dialog that you can't help but laugh out loud. The narration by Shane East and Ava Lucas is spot-on. Shane portrays Max and alternately clueless, smarmy and snarky, and Ava plays up Harper's strength and determination. They both make the characters leap from the story so vividly you can see this as a movie in your mind as you're listening.

So thoroughly entertaining, enchanting and engaging. I hope there are more Undercover Elementals in the works.

Erotic romance and adventure in a world of fantasy and magic, as an immortal elemental becomes obsessed with a mortal woman.

Harper is a cute young lady with a degree from a university but who works in a fast food den selling hamburgers and hot dogs, however, that is only a small part of her life. Driven by a strange obsession, she has discovered portals to a magical realm inhabited by creatures of myth and legend, and she is determined to travel there and destroy them. When she encounters Max, a powerful incubus who becomes fixated with the idea of ravishing her, her life and her mission change drastically as she feels the heat of his raw sensuous power. At first she tries to ignore his advances and her erotic feelings that he seems to conjure up inside her, but eventually as he manages to become a part of her life, they reach an agreement and make a pact with each other. His advances become more intense, but as they face some unsual adventures together, her ability to resist his naked lust for her begins to dimish with each erotic encounter and she wonders how long she will be able to resist him and concentrate on a mission that she, herself, does not fully understand. Readers who enjoy strongly erotic fiction mixed with magical fantasy will enjoy this book by an author who not only obviously relishes sensuous writing, but is able to conjure up worlds of forbidden desires and scenes of adventure and erotic magic.

Fast paced romp from page 1. This is Max’s story (read the series in order for the best experience). He’s been an incubus for 2000 years and hasn’t been having a good time of it lately. He managed to escape to the mortal realm just as Harper finds the portal he’s at. She’s on a mission to demolish the Unseen. Thirteen years ago she and her friend were taken by fae from the Unseen and her friend was killed and she was tortured. Now she’s ready to get her revenge. She’ll need an elemental to get through the portal and Max just happens to be handy.

Max follows her home and realizes he needs to have her but he doesn’t want her to just want him because of his pheromones. They finally agree on getting together and their enemies begin to make themselves known. Harper has dangerous enemies and Max is on the run. This is their story. It’s fast paced, fun, and the characters that seem a little harsh in the beginning fall into place as great characters with a lot of backstory.

Max may have helped save the world twice but this time he has everything on the line.

Anna Durand's Obsidian Hunger, the fourth installmet of the Undercover Elementals, was a sexy paranormal romance novel that was delightfully written. The story centered around our main heroine Harper, a human, who has been obsessed in going to the Unseen realm-- the world of faes. She wanted to go there to destroy those creatures who tortured her in the past and killed her best friend. However, she cannot go there without the help of a creature who also came from there. That's when Max enters the scene, Harper's only way to be able to accomplish her goal. But this sexy alpha fae wants her for sex as a payment.

I loved the overall premise of this book. The storyline was loaded with oozing smexy scenes. The only thing though is that I found it a bit difficult to connect to the characters, both Harper and Max. They lacked chemistry at some point and I found Max to be a bit domineering. Great thing that Harper is badass and she was so determined to get what she wanted. She is the hero that really makes up for it.

A perfect read on a Getaway trip

The cover page reminded me of a movie I watched time past, this dark fantasy tells the story of Harper, a young lady on a revenge mission to thwart out the Unseen ( a magical world that has been the source of major calamities in her life) whose path crosses with that of Max, a powerful creature who is also out to destroy her and how they each compromise and struggle with their fated missions. I knew it was a fantasy filled with darkness when I picked up and read the title Obsidian Hunger, what I didn't know was the raunchy and the extremely explicit content that the author had in stock for me. Definitely should be rated 18+, it was a wonderful read and amazing how she combines the intricate details of magic, romance, dark fantasies, torture. Anna Durand’s story, recounted in the first-person point of view, is another installation in an on-going series and has thirty-four chapters and I definitely would say that it would serve the interest of readers like myself who are open to mysterious and magic-related contents.

OBSIDIAN HUNGER is the fourth book in the Undercover Elementals series. Though I had not read any of the previous books in the series, I had no problem; I would say that this can stand alone. On the other hand, other characters are visited that make me want to know their stories as well.

Harper and Max are fabulous adversaries who are meant to be fated mates. Getting from “I will kill you,” to “I would die for you” is an amazing journey.

I was captured from the first page to the last. I will admit to reading far into the night and missing some vital sleep. This is a perfectly written suspenseful paranormal romance. I hope there will be more in this series. I would love to read more.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC from the author, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I absolutely loved this book and every character involved. This PNR story had so many snarky, sexy and emotional aspects to it and I loved it!
Harper and Max's growth from where they start at the beginning to where they end up is pretty much a bit of a roller coaster, but so worth the ride. Harper is a pretty strong woman and I loved how determined she was. I also loved Max's close friendship with Lindsay and Nevan and how they're very supportive of him because they've become like a family.

It had some really powerful scenes that absolutely brought me to tears made a hundred times more impactful by Ava and Shane's performances. Really superb acting in this book.

I did come into this book after only having read book 1. I'm glad I did, because I just couldn't wait!  So at least I know how everything kinda gets started.

This is the type of book I am a fan of. “Obsidian Hunger” is the fourth book in the Undercover Elementals series written by Anna Durand. Just by looking at the cover, it invites you to read the story. Once I did so, I was pleased and not at all disappointed.
The author’s writing style is great. She captured my attention from the first to the last pages. This series of paranormal romance is absolutely great, from characters to plot, it has it all. Dialogues are very well portrayed and scenes are properly described so that you make a mental picture of what is happening.
I would recommend reading this must read novel, especially to those fans of the genre, and why not the complete series as I am planning to do.

Anna Durand is a new to me author. I discovered this book as it was chosen for my book club read of the month. PNR is typically not my go-to trope however, this was an enjoyable read and I was pleasantly surprised. The Unseen world and characters were well-developed and the story had an intriguing plot with low angst and high steam factor between Max and Harper. Although this book provides enough backstory for me to be fully invested, I am curious about Max's friends Lindsey and Nevan who make appearances in this story and will need to circle back to check out the previous books. I listened to this book in audio. Shane East and Ava Lucas do an amazing job and elevate this story to the next level.

I have always loved Max ever since he strutted on scene. There is just something about his non apologetic attitude and his faithfulness that touched my heart. So I was super excited to see he got his own story. It is everything I had hopes for him. Harper has fire in her! She is perfect for Max if only she would realize it. I enjoy the banter they both Max and Harper have. Since Max is a fire salamander incubus there are a ton if comments referencing his salamanderious body or self.

Overall I loved this story! I chuckled and walked around with a smile on my face while listening. It was also nice to catch up with Lindsey and Nivin. I did listen to this on audio. Shane East and Ava Lucas both do an amazing job narrating. Ava personifies Harper and Shane always does a perfect job.

Harper Goode, an ordinary sassy mortal who meets her soul-mate, an immortal sex god – well, almost. An incubus.
But how’s that going to work?
This story is adventure and mystery combined with a thread of humour and surprise. It is fast-paced, engaging and threaded together with magic.
I very much enjoyed this story. The author offers strong characters and a solid plotline. I loved the English words and references splashed in there, too, and the pure ideas of what happened and the hero’s reactions.
I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed it. I am glad I did. It was the first book of this author’s I have read; I shall add her to my must-read list.

This is my first Ana Durand book, and can be read as a complete stand alone. I found the story enjoyable, easy to get into and follow the world building having not read the first 3 books in the series. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Shane East and Ava Lucas who both did a great job. I need to add more Ava Lucas to my library her narration is very enjoyable. I enjoyed the paranormal and fated mates aspect of this book, but I felt like some of the conflicts were resolved too easily. I would have loved some more bedroom scenes especially with the incubus describing previous depravity he engaged in and I was disappointed we didn't get more described between Harper and Max.

This was a solid PNR. Good story. Good narration. I want more explanation sometimes. I also don’t feel like this is a true stand alone. It’s hard to have a true standalone PNR though. There is just too much world building and story to make that truly possible.

This is a fun PNR. The heat was definitely there. I enjoyed a lot of the fantasy character aspects and seeing creatures I hadn’t seen before.

Book four in the Undercover Elementals series a well written story that kept me laughing, the things that come out of his mouth! The proposal scene I think was the best, especially the last bit. I enjoyed reading Quintus Salonius Maximus and Harper Goode's story. I would recommend it.

This was a very emotional listen. Max has been a terrific character through this series, and I was glad for him to get his HEA. But he and Harper have quite a lot to go through before they can get there. I cried a little during all of that, but the ending was wonderful.

If anyone wants to read a very exciting and fun book then you are in for a treat. It is exciting from the first page. The action takes off and you won't want to put it down. The main characters, Max and Harper, are great together. You are left guessing the finale up till the end. I really enjoyed this book and hope to read many more by this author.
