The lens through which you see yourself, God and others is another way to address perception or the battles we fight in our minds. Perception through the wrong lens can lead to faulty conclusions and wrong assumptions, which will directly impact our ability to make right decisions. I love how this book is structured and how the author addresses the many areas where we can gain victory by simply viewing through the correct lens. The narrative is intertwined with the author’s true experiences, making this a profound and interesting journey with many take aways cemented by the questions asked at the end of each chapter.
Lovely read with a fresh perspective on what it means to be a Christian and have faith in God. Highly recommend to those wanting to strengthen their faith and relationship with God.
Amazing book! I got this as a gift from a friend, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book - it was life-changing. My favorite part of the book is the impactful testimonies from the author's life that really brings home the truths about different ways of seeing God and ourselves and the people around us. This book really gets you thinking about how to align your thoughts with God's thoughts.
I also really appreciated the "Questions to Ponder" sections interspersed between each chapter that have thought-provoking questions pertaining to that chapter's content. These questions are really useful and have helped me gain awareness of what kind of lenses I have that do not align with God's way of seeing things, and how to change them. These questions really guide you through reading and help you reflect on dealing with bitterness, judgment, hate, idolatry, pride, fear, among many other things.
Overall, I would 10/10 recommend this book! I think this would be great material for discussion in book clubs, or small groups, or discipleship, or just for journaling by yourself. Either way, it is definitely very educational and will bring you healing and self-awareness in many parts of your life.
Wei Wei Chang invites us to remove the broken lens through which we perceive ourselves and God. Her vulnerability in sharing her journey from shame to acceptance and from fear to freedom encourages the rest of us to be open to the healing power of the Holy Spirit. When we replace that broken lens and allow God to reveal Himself through the clear lens of His love, we can live the abundant life He promised.
