Cooper Rutledge: frat boy, general screwup, and...Daddy's boy?

On the surface, I don't take things too seriously.
Not my poor grades, or my hookups, or my inability to find my purpose.
But that was before.

Before the daddy of my wet dreams swiped right on my pic.
Before he turned out to be my father's best friend.
Before I convinced him to indulge in one night of pleasure with n

Cooper hates how much his dad, the college dean, expects from him.

To unwind himself he makes a date with a guy through an app. Arriving at his place warm hand envelope him, a sexy Daddy that’s what he wants for the night. But when they face each other the shock is huge, it’s Trace his dad’s ex-best friend.

Trace reacts like burning his hands, this can’t happen, ever.

Surprise, it can happen! Even though it’s mostly with FaceTime they start something.
Trace can be the Daddy Cooper needed so desperat

As soon as I read the summary of this, I was all in. Dad’s best friend is my fave but when they accidentally meet online/through a hook up app and eventually realize who the other is? Uhhhh so hot.

Cooper is 22, a senior and part of a frat. He isn’t really a typical frat boy though. Sure, he smokes weed and attends parties, but he’s not failing at school on purpose or for lack of motivation. He’s trying but college is hard for him and he doesn’t really even want to be there. He’s going to please

Daddy/boy trope is my favorite...whether they are a pup, a little or just a Daddy and his boy, I love all of it.

This book hit all the marks for me for what I want in a Daddy/boy dynamic that isn't directly related to kink.

What I loved about the book:

1. Both characters were flushed out. By the end, I felt like I really new Cooper and Trace. My only complaint is that I would have loved more of Trace's backstory. However, missing that, the character development was on point for me.

2. Chemistry. So

A history of friendship does not guarantee love.

But a history class can bring back memories of time spent together with you crush as your mind wanders in class. Even if you hate school.

But love can grow where it shouldn't and with someone who you shouldn't. Love is always surprising, but never dull. Especially if you are a perfect match for each other. Your love conquers everything else. But family is still important and need to be considered in decision making.

Love is a big commitment. Bigger

I have to be honest: I found this book a bit of a drag, and I really struggled to get through it. I thought the plot, though a good one, was just too slow moving, and, to me, this book simply didn't have that delightful "DJ Jamison" feel to it.
I know each book/trope is entitled to be different, but compared to "Secret Admirer", this book simply could not hold my attention.
Although DJ is certainly one of my go-to authors, I guess this one was not for me.

I received an ARC of Swiped by My Dad’s Best Friend by DJ Jamison from Gay Book Promotions in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun, quick read about a college student, Cooper, who hooks up with his dad’s (estranged) friend, Trace, from an app for a one night stand that becomes more. They quickly fall into a Daddy-Boy relationship and I didn’t read the blurb so I was surprised by that turn, even though it was obvious. But it was good. I enjoyed seeing Cooper figure his shit out for his f

SWIPED BY MY DAD'S BEST FRIEND is the first book in the Thrust Into Love series and is unashamedly sweet and sexy. This book belongs in the warm and fuzzy section as there is only a little bit on angst and a helluva lot of smiles!

Coop doesn't want to be in college but he doesn't want to disappoint his dad either. This leads to two very unhappy people who drift further apart. Trace is an old friend who was accused by Coop's dad of having an affair with his wife. So that makes for a very messy sit

Swiped By My Dad's Best Friend is a sweet but equally hot age gap, daddy kink romance.
Cooper is struggling with life but especially college, now in his fifth year. It doesn't help that his dad is the Dean and can't understand where Cooper's coming from when he tries talking about it. The bright spot in his life comes when his dad's ex best friend comes to town and they happen to match up on Thrust, a hookup app, though it takes a minute before they recognise each other. It takes some texts, some

Wow, daddy books are growing on me.

Daddy/boy books will probably never become my favorite in the MM genre but several of my favorite authors are writing them so I’m going to read them. Having said all of that, I think this is one of the best books I’ve read by DJ Jamison. The writing was smooth and tight with nothing that muddied up the story. I did a beta read of this book and other than a few typos, I didn’t find anything to criticize. That’s unusual for a beta read.

Cooper is a 5th year senio

DJ Jamison's Swiped by my Dad's Best Friend is a great age gap romance.

I struggled with it a little at the beginning, as Cooper is into recreational pot, and often high. That's always a turn off for me, but I'm thrilled I kept reading. And I absolutely love the way his drug use is explored later on.

Cooper and Trace arrange for a meet up, but soon discover they know each other. But the attraction is there, and eventually the two give in to their passion. And damn, the two are hot toget

The perfect mix of tropes: age gap + daddy kink + dad's best friend

Sweet love story of a Boy discovering himself in every way - his true value, what he wants to work with, how to stand up for himself, the kinks he enjoys - while he is finding love and learning to trust his Daddy.

The taboo of the forbidden relationship was so well done, and I loved that Cooper's father wasn't a jerk about it all and never abandoned him, even though he was against the relationship and couldn't accept it. But he s

Classic romance, with a side of forbidden. It’s really a lovely story. Cooper needed guidance and direction. Trace was the support, the steadying force that fit just right. The friction between them and Coop’s father was hard, but also fit in.
Daddy kink isn’t my favorite, but this book is so well written that I really enjoyed it. Great read!

I really enjoyed this book. Cooper and Trace were good together. The age difference wasn't noticeable until it was brought up by others or even Trace. They had a lot in common and just seemed right for eaxh other. The sexual tension was good and rhe sex was good. All the charity work Cooper was doing in his frat was refreshing to see. Most people just think of drunken parties with frat boys. This was a fast paced book that I read in one

I really enjoyed Cooper and Trace's story. Their lives are entwined and complicated, but they persevere and find what they both needed.

I could appreciate how conflicted Trace felt when his app hookup turns out to be his ex-best friend's son. Estranged for many years, Trace and Matthew may have a chance to clear the air and reconnect as friends, but Trace's attraction to Cooper could get between them. I loved when Trace accepted Cooper as he was and gave him someone he could feel secur

This novel does a great job of showing the growth of a romantic relationship from hookup ap meeting complicated by a significant revelation (see title for details) to a ‘casual’ connection that was never really casual to something more. I appreciated that both Trace and Cooper were new to a Daddy/boy dynamic that went beyond playing around in bed, as it was great to see them both figure out what worked and what didn’t, and what their limitations were as well as all the ways they fit together. As soon as I read the blurb for this, I was in. Age gap, father’s best friend trope with some Daddy kink thrown in? Say no more. Cooper is exactly as I imagined him. He’s so much more than a screw-up frat boy who doesn’t care about his grades. He’s feeling pressured by his Dad to have more direction in life, and all he really likes doing is working in a hands-on capacity with his charity work. One of the aspects I enjoyed most about this steamy age-gap love story is how genuinely encouraging and understanding Trace is of Cooper as he provides the confidence boost the younger man needs to truly believe in himself.

Cooper feels like a disappointment and failure to his family and frat brothers, and aimless in his life (which is nearly palpable at times), but Trace sees the smart, caring, and capable man his boy really is beneath all the insecurity and anxiety. In quickly becoming the lov

This was a sweet, little to no-angst, Daddy/boy kink story with dad’s best friend and age gap. It featured Cooper, 22 and a fifth year senior trying to find his way in life and college with pressure from his college Dean dad. Under the pressure, he slacks and smokes weed to get some stress relief. On the outside he looks like a slacker, but on the inside he had a heart of gold with a lot of insecurity and people pleasing.

Trace is Cooper’s dad’s old best friend that hasn’t been around for years,

What a fabulous read! Trace and Cooper are absolute perfection together. Cooper is a struggling, fifth-year college senior who just can't seem to get his life together. He's searching for what he needs when he answers an app request and finds the answer - he needs a Daddy. Trace is a year older than Cooper's (college dean) dad with a struggling landscaping business. When he sees Cooper again after many years, an instant connection is formed.

I totally enjoyed this book! Age gap YES!! Trace comes to the college campus to teach a Saturday class and earn some much needed money for his landscaping business. His former best friend was the Dean of the college. Cooper, son of the Dean, and Trace had known each other from years before. But this time, sparks ignite. Try as they might, there’s no stopping this explosion!

DJ Jamison writes sweet but spicy M/M romance that most readers consider relatively low-angst. She grew up in a working-class family, and many of those influences can be found in her books: family drama, workplace conflict, and of course, love! DJ lives in Kansas with her husband, two sons, a timid snake, and a sadistic cat named Birdie.
