For the past three decades, the tyrant king has ruled with an iron fist, killing all dissenters and feeding their flesh to his demonic son.

I write almost exclusive m/m, but I have a fondness for bisexual protagonists. I enjoy a lot of darker themes, so you'll see a lot of that around here.

When I’m not writing, I’m reading, painting, playing video games, and rescuing cats. I also enjoy learning about languages and other cultures.

“I love you. I shouldn’t, but I do. I’m glad you took my arm. I’m glad I saved you, the way you saved me.”

Prince Suraj is a warrior leading a war party to ambush and engage in a skirmish against insurgents who are working with rebel groups against his father, King Ravindra.

Out on the battlefield, after taking down enemy fighters, he rewards himself by feasting on their flesh. Prince Suraj is a powerful demon who is able to refuel by consuming human flesh. While occupied, he is hit with arrows coated in a potent poison. He's weakened and captured.

Madhava is on the front lines fighting with the rebels against the tyrant king and his armies. He captured the king’s son, and his leader decided to use him as a bargaining chip. However, Madhava has a dark secret. He’s excited by blood and violence. He’s disturbed by his dark desires, and with Prince Suraj able to see right through him, it becomes harder to deny and keep those feelings buried.

Flesh and Blood was such an amazing and unique story. I absolutely loved how a sweet love story is woven into such a bloody and violent book.

Suraj admires and falls for Madhava, the man who brought him down, who has such dark desires yet fights them. He becomes possessive of him and is ready to kill anyone who hurts his lover.

“Madhava could order Suraj to his knees, and Suraj would bend easily. He would hand Madhava a knife, and wait patiently while Madhava cut his skin apart.”

He does not see the reign of terror his father has over the lands, and why would he? He grew up in such a lavish world and heard nothing but praise of the king and all he had done for the lands. He is in a bubble. The prince can’t understand the plight of rebels, and to be honest, he does not care, but for Madhava, he will disobey and fight his fathers.

Madhava has such inner turmoil - his desire for blood, for Suraj, for accepting the son who represents the very thing he is fighting as his lover. He is conflicted; he sees that he can use Suraj’s attachment against him. This leads to a bit of a back and forth; however, when he realizes how far Suraj is willing to go for him and how deep his devotion to him is, he gives in.

“None of this should have been arousing. He was in the enemy’s lair, with a flesh-eating demon on top of him. When he squeezed his eyes shut, he could still see Suraj’s bloodied figure, canine teeth far longer than any normal human’s, body massive, eyes glowing—”

“The fact that Madhava was even considering this relationship showed just how depraved he was. A demon who loved him wholeheartedly, without question. A demon he could abuse, and who would only come back for more.”

“I want you at my side, Suraj,” Madhava whispered. “We’ll destroy Ravindra. And I’ll be kind to you, and I’ll tear you apart too. And you’ll be my partner, my equal. Is it bad that I want all of that?”

I've already mentioned Suraj's devotion to Madhava, but I loved it so much. He was a like love-sick puppy who wanted to please his owner. He was so possessive and protective over Madhava! I was so happy when Madhava realized deep Suraj's love ran - even if he didn't understand or felt worthy of it - and accepted him.

To think, Madhava had almost killed Suraj before they’d spoken a single word to each other. Yet here he was now, happy to share his flesh and blood with an unrepentant demon.

In my opinion, this book is more relationship-focused, but there’s also an interesting political story. I loved the setting and the lore. It is inspired by South Asian culture, which I do not see a lot of fantasy books do in this genre.

If you enjoy unique world building and lore, demon/human, action, himbo/puppy like MCs, a bit of enemies to lovers, possessive and obsessive MCs, "touch him and you die" trope, I recommended this book.

While the story wasn’t dark dark , the title does not lie. There’s a lot of blood, death and graphic violence (including sexual violence). There’s cannibalism, knife and blood play! Did I already say cannibalism? Because there’s cannibalism! Please check trigger warnings if interested.

Overall I really enjoyed Flesh & Blood! I would love to see more stories set in this world. There are a few side characters I am curious about and would love to know more about.

Overall I enjoyed this book. Intriguing premise, and I liked the setting.

Suraj was a himbo demon, which was hilarious. A precious himbo!! Madhava had a lot of internal conflict, which I felt was done well.

The main thing that grated for me was that there was a lot of hints of politics, especially when they were in the palace, but it never got much depth. Suraj was being his oblivious himbo self, so no help on that front, and Madhava didn't have enough knowledge to pick out the nuances. I'd have liked that part being expanded a little bit more, given the setup.

I'd give the first part a four star, and the end sort of slid into three star territory. It started off much stronger than it finished.

Dark, Delicious, Tasty, Hot.

Literally!
Flesh and Blood by Adara Wolf delivered!
It was such a delight to read Madhava’s and Suraj’s story!

I’m always extra excited when I read a story that’s super unique and when they give me all the darkness, possessiveness and an actual enemy to lovers trope, I’m in bliss.
Add some toxicity, manipulation, bloodshed… and you get an adventurous and challenging dark and emotional read – and I am here for it!

I am not able to stop thinking about this story!

The world building was great, we get a somewhat dystopian-fantasy with a caniballistic demon family ruling over the realm while some ppl still try to fight them!
Suraj, a demon-son get's into the hands of the resistance and can't help himself when he gets in contact with Madhava. He is infatuated, truly hooked and can't stop thinking about him!

*quote*
And he smelled so good too. He didn’t know what it was about Madhava that was driving Suraj wild, but none of the other insurgents had that maddeningly enticing scent. If Suraj weren’t chained up, he would have pounced on Madhava, either to eat him or fuck him or both.

He tries everything to get into Madhavas good graces, even if it means to fight against his family!

Madhava has a secret, his dark side craves to see blood, and he would love to see Suraj underneath him. But he fights those demons, and doesn't want to become one himself!!
Tormented by his attraction to his enemy he tries everything to deny himself what he craves.

The relationship development was intense and I loved how they developed when they came together!

Oh!My!Fucking!Fuck!

I can't think straight. All the fucking stars for this phenomenal book. I'm not kidding, there aren't enough star to give to this book. I have no words to describe my feelings, words aren't enough.

I don't know what it says about me that I loved this story this much, but holy hell, it is brilliant! I knew that it has flesh eating in it, but I wasn't prepared to all of that. I thought we go slowly introduced to those scenes, but no. Starting scene, full on everything! I didn't know what to do, I read it with one eye closed - it was like seeing a train wreck. You want to see but you don't want to see. But at the end, I so wanted to see!

And the best?! It wasn't only that one scene, and I was so happy about it. (still don't know if it's healthy that I loved reading about flesh eating?! lol) And the romance, oh god, the romance! I just love how Adara Wolf writes dark stuff and still full with sweet romance. I can't with this book.

I can't remember the last time a book was this awesome. It was weeks or months ago. This book has ruined me, it's perfect and I want more.

Madhava and Suraj were both amazing characters and I loved how strong they were. Very different personalities in two very different 'world', but somehow they found each other and fell in love. Loved how easy and almost submissive Suraj was to Madhava while he was the Prince and he would have to be the dominant one. Loved that they were in their own bubble a bit, but when the real world came to them, they fought together against it.

Ravi and Kalyan were two very interesting characters and I really loved them, their relationship was really sweet and powerful. And that's what I love in Adara's book, that every relationship she writes is both dark and sweet and both character are powerful, and together, just wow. Loved Ravi and Kalyan's scenes (but I won't spoiler more about them).

Amazing story, well written characters, emotional scenes, dark and twisted, and it's really not for everyone. But when you're over on the first shock and the flesh eating stuff, you will enjoy and love this book just as I did.

Congratulations for the author for writing this unique book. Brilliant. I need more!

A Demon love story

Wow! This book was so much more than I had expected. Fair warning - there is a lot of bloodshed, demons eating flesh, and knife play (in an erotic way) but there's also a really intriguing storyline. The world building is subtle - the author weaves the background information into the story seamlessly - and the characters are far more complex than the average book. It's not a typical love story. The MC's push and pull against each other throughout most of the book and ultimately there's more of an obsession to their relationship, but it actually makes the parts that are softer and more emotional that much more powerful. It's raw and bloody and really, really good!

First of all, this cover is HOT. I love it and it fits exactly how I envisioned Madhava in my head.

This book is dark with some humorous moments. The world building is on point, as usual.

I was rooting for the demon the entire way.

Also there might be a little bit of flesh eating, it's all good though.

Alright so this book was .... Different... A demon who eat flesh and the human who hates him but blood and violence turns him on.... The demon is a puppy dog and the human kind of an asshole... The atroy didn't seem fully developed at times... The first half was decent but it torpedoed after that and was just boring.

:: unfortunately not a winning buddy read for me and Steph::

I love Adara Wolf’s writing. Her dark erotica is creative and immediate and hits all the right notes. I like her shorter stories and “Under His Heel” is probably my favorite series when it comes to dark erotic romance. Sadly, this book didn’t work for me. It moved too slowly and I found myself bored. I thought I’d enjoy the premise—with the kidnapping and enemies and such—but it came across as predictable. I quickly grew tired of Suraj’s stupidity—I just couldn’t buy a grown man (demented or not) could be so blind about his father’s reign, and either way, I could only read so much of it. Madhava, on the other hand, I couldn’t quite get a read on—his indecisiveness about Suraj mixed with self-righteousness about his cause also grew old real fast. I think if the book was hotter I’d feel differently, but the erotic component so far is mostly tied to bloody violence and cannibalism, which isn’t exactly a turn on for me. I prefer psychological manipulation, suspense, humiliation...oh, yeah, and sex! I’m sure some readers will enjoy this, because it’s well-written and such, but I grew tired with the characters going in circles and the plot didn’t have that special something (be it hot erotica or an unique take) to carry me through. If I kept reading, maybe my mind would be changed—it’s probably unfair to judge a book 66 pages in—but I don’t have the energy right now. Someday I might come back to it. Meanwhile, I still look forward to whatever Adara Wolf might have next.

A well-written book, but I had a hard time staying engaged with the story.

Flesh & Blood explores some very interesting kinks and themes; such as blood/knife play, demons vs humans, cannibalism, and toppling the government (not all of them are SEXUAL ok?!) I was on board with all of the content warnings although in my opinion, the book overall is not very dark.

It is very romance-focused, and sometimes this does not work for me. Unfortunately this is one of those instances. I found myself to be a lot more interested in the background plotline and side characters.

If you are new to Adara Wolf, I would highly recommend checking out Under His Heel first. That series continues to be my favorite work that I've read from this author.

Adara Wolf is a queen that needs to be worshipped! You did it again, Adara Wolf

When Madhava woke up, Suraj would show him the carnage. He would show him the rivers of blood, and he would worship Madhava in it.

What a lovely and mouth-watering story of love, hate, but also so much passion.
All the 🩸play was my jam. I wanted Madhava just to slice Suraj open and cuddle his insides. And this basically summarizes their dynamic. Both fucked up, to different degrees and extremes. And I loved every second of it.
Suraj was just so obsessed with Madhava - this book is so romantic and swoony. I did not know that bloodlust could be so all consuming but also warm (emotionally, duh).
The story was just enough angsty and dark. And I just hope for the author to create more kinky and dark stories for us. This one and the Under His Heel series is amazing (I also love her collaborating with R. Phoenix).

Sexy, twisted love

A great story, characters you can really feel for and some dark and dirty, hot sex. Be warned if you're squeamish about blood though. Brilliant book, a bit different from the usual type in this genre.

“When Madhava woke up, Suraj would show him the carnage. He would show him the rivers of blood, and he would worship Madhava in it.”

Flesh & Blood was not what I expected. I knew it was about a demon and the man he falls in love with. But what started as a promising first half, took a nosedive into the ridiculous to be honest.

Our Demon, Suraj, a cannibal with no regards for anyone but himself and his family is feared by many but in reality acts like a puppy begging for his owners attention. I liked Suraj at first and thought his devotion and love for Madhava was adorable but after awhile it become grating and I couldn’t take anymore. I just wanted him to eat everyone so the story could be over.

Madhava I never really liked. He’s a jerk with a chip on his shoulder who takes Suraj blind devotion to him and treats him like the lap dog Suraj acts like he is. I never bought his “love” for Suraj because even at the 75% mark he says this:

“I can’t say I love you, Suraj. But I care for you.”

Wow. Cue the wedding bells. I can feel the love😐 Let’s just say I was not on Team Madhava. And while I do feel sorry for what he endures later on (which I thought was totally unnecessary and way out of left field), I just never warmed up to the guy.

I don’t know this whole story’s pacing was just off and we get a lot of telling and not showing. I will say that I did enjoy the first half of the book and was excited to see where things went but things went off the rails and by the end I was glad it was over. 2 Stars!

I’m thankful I was on this reading journey with my buddy Amanda. It’s always more fun reading with a friend.

TW: Cannibalism, Rape on page(graphic), knife & blood play.

This story is very dark and twisted. It took me a moment to get into it, but once I did, I devoured it like Suraj devoured his enemies. Suraj isn’t what I expected of a demon. He was sweet with Madhava. He was endearing even though he’s a demon that consumes human flesh. And Madhava, he wasn’t what I first expected either. He fights his darkness, his lusts. Til of course he has Suraj where he wants him, then he unleashes. These two were made for each other, they perfectly balanced one another. Their journey and fight is long and an uphill battle for sure, with lots of hurdles in the way. And Madhava is constantly struggling against that inner darkness and battle, to not lose himself. He wants to be a good person and do good things. It is a very kinky and dark book but I enjoyed it very much.

This is both interesting and boring at the same time? Interesting in that one of the MCs is a demon who likes eating human flesh, and the other MC is a human who gets very turned on by the sight of blood. But the story itself is a bit bland, even though it has to do with the demons who rule the lands, and a small group of rebels who oppose them. I don’t know, I might come back to this book one day but I’m already feeling a bit squeamish at all the blood and flesh eating in the storyline, so maybe not.

DNF @ 10%.

I've resisted reading this author for a long time, not because I feared she'd be too dark for me - even though dark is not really my cuppa - but because I'm a sucker for OTT romance. and I didn't get the impression I'd find it in her books. I was right.

This one was excellent for this who want what it has to offer, it simply wasn't to my taste. And no, I don't mean the cannibalism, but it had more politics and less sweet, gushy feelings than I like in my romance books, so my star rating is entirely based on my own preferences, not the author's storytelling skill.
