Schemers at Somerset
The three Prefects, Nat, Kate, and Mathilde,,, are caught up in dealing with mysterious accidents on the period drama film set being shot at Somerset College while trying to trap Beadle and thwart his nefarious schemes. This intriguing series by Lynn Morrison mixes academia, history, and magic in a most enjoyable and believable way.

Every time I begin reading a book in the Oxford Key Mystery series by Lynn Morrison I am reminded of the Harry Potter series and every time I review a book in this series, I cannot help but say that. Fans of the Harry Potter series will absolutely love this series .... and every new book in the series makes me love it more and more !!
Sabotage at Somerset is the fourth book in the Oxford Key Mystery series and by now, if you have read the previous books you are a fan and more importantly, you feel like you are a part of the group. This series follows main character Natalie Payne as she begins her new job working in the colleges of Oxford as an event coordinator. However her main focus and more important responsibility is to protect the magic that is within. The magic and protecting it is a part of her being as her grandfather was also a prefect and worked at the college for years. Along with 2 other prefects, Kate and Matilde, her pet wyvern, her boyfriend Edward and her friend Harry, they will face their greatest challenge in Sabotage at Somerset.
Nat's uncle Harold is coming to the colleges to film scenes for his historical period drama while Nat and her group are still working on resolving the problem with the magic to which they are getting closer to solving. They now know the masterminds behind it, Oswald Beadle and Thomas Hobbes, one being a human and the other is an Eternal. Nat with the help of her grandfather has summoned a lot of other Eternals within the colleges to help stand guard during the filming in case there is trouble. Unfortunately Nat is drawn on a difference course when one of the members in the film is poisoned.
In this series Nat always has a full plate with her regular job creating memorable ceremonies, trying to save the magic, hanging with her friends and boyfriend but in Sabotage at Somerset she may just have more than she can handle.....
Sabotage in Somerset is my FAVORITE book in this series....so far !!! With it being the fourth book in the series readers are pretty familiar with the storyline and the characters and setting. You will have come to love and hate certain people and you will want to see things through to the end as Nat and company does as well. There will come a point in this book where you will be powerless to stop reading, the "magic" will have taken over your body and a spell will be cast for you to keep reading until you get to the end and you will be thankful for that. The last 20 or so pages of this book will grip your emotions and take them for a rollercoaster ride !! You will laugh, cry and be fearful almost all at the same time !!!
The Oxford Key Mystery series is a must read and you should really add them to your to be read pile because before you know it Post Mortem at Padua will be here and you are definitely going to want to be caught up !!!

Nat's uncle is directing a movie about Sir Christopher Wren, and using Oxford and Somerset College as a set. The production has been plagued by various pranks and problems, but when the leading actress is poisoned, things get really serious. With the help of the Eternals, Nat gets a brief role in the show and eventually she and her friends find both the poisoner and those responsible for trying to steal Oxford's magic. Nat ends up in even more trouble than usual when the thieves capture her, too! This appears to be the last novel, darn it. Perhaps another will be out later in 2021. I enjoyed this series.
Side note:
I didn't deduct a star for it, but the author and/or her proofreaders really need a lesson in subject vs object. The use of 'I' when it should be 'me' leapt annoyingly out at me several times in this book, and I had noticed it in the previous books as well. Take a line like "They...left H and I behind...." Would she think that "They left I behind" sounded right? If so, she has big problems. I cannot believe that a good writer (which she appears to be) would think so, but it has occurred multiple times! The reverse problem ('me' when it should be 'I') doesn't appear to be as much of a problem, although I noticed it very occasionally in the previous books. Sloppy editing or proofreading, I guess.

I have to say, I thought this was the best book yet in the Oxford Key mysteries. I couldn't put the book down, it kept me reading late into the night.
Nat's Uncle is bringing his film shoot to Oxford, and of course Nat, the other prefect and the Eternals are all needed to play their part, especially as it may be a way to trap the people, both magical and not, who are causing the magic to leach from Oxford.
Nat has moved into her house, the inheritance from her Grandfather, and Edwaed Hope's to join her soon, splitting his time between his flat and her house.
Of course, the star of the show is H, the Wyvern come Cat who has humour, bravery, and quite literally saves the day. He adores Nat, she adores him, wherever she goes, he does too; except of course when he's romancing Princess Fluffy!
This is a brilliant cozy mystery series with a huge element of magic, not my usual reading genre but one which I've fallen in love with. The books are all standalone stories but they are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
If you like cozy mystery with a twist, then try this series, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I love this series and this is the best one yet. Natalie’s uncle and his film crew are making a movie at Oxford and there are problems on the set along with trouble from the evil folks who are trying to steal all of the magic from Oxford. There are a lot of suspects for who is trying to ruin the filming. While trying to solve that mystery, Natalie is also remodeling her newly acquired home and she and H are adjusting to their new living arrangements. Lots of action. Wonderful characters you’d like to hang out with and a great way to make history come to life. Terrific summary of the series up to now and a wonderful wrap-up to transition to their next adventure. Great surprises at the end as well.

I was eager to read this conclusion to the first story arc of Oxford Key Mysteries, and boy was it worth waiting for! I loved learning new details of the magic, the connections between the friends and the strength of the female characters makes for a great read, and the humour and action are the icing on the cake. Even the secondary characters are well developed and, despite them all being such different people, I can imagine myself being at home with them at one of their meetups in Nat's living room.
This was a fantastic book that I am happy to recommend. I can't wait to see where Nat and everyone go next in a new story arc!

This is the latest book in an enjoyable series that is part mystery, part romance, and part fantasy, with a bit of humor as well. Nat and her friends are continuing their battle to protect the magic of Oxford. To try and lure the evil-doers there, Nat's uncle brings his film crew to Somerset College, since he is working on a mini-series about Sir Christopher Wren and his contemporaries. But the productions seems to be cursed with accidents — or are they accidents? And are they connected with the magic issues, or is this a separate mystery? Quick read, hard to put down, and just plain fun! Recommended.

Another fabulous novel in the Oxford Mysteries series.
I'm not sure how Morrison does it and I hope she never stops! I am so invested in the well-developed characters that I catch myself rooting for them through every novel.
Sabotage brings another juice mystery. Nat has her hands full when her uncle brings his team of actors to Oxford for a movie. When things start to go awry, she is faced with another diabolical case and worse, the magic is still at stake of disappearing.
I enjoyed every chapter of this cozy mystery. I am SO thrilled to learn that there will be a 5th installment of this series.

Nat, Kate, Mathilde and the gang are back for what feels like one last hurrah. This book brings the overall story arc of the stolen magic to a fantastic close, whilst simultaneously trying to solve the 'curse' attached to the filming of a historical drama at Somerset College. We meet new characters (some of whom are VERY old) and the story zips along at pace with threats, kidnappings, calamities on set and some surprising twists and turns. H is as always, a superstar and the story wraps up with a happily ever after - sigh.
Re-read August '26. - I've really enjoyed re-reading this series, and now I know, it's not the end!

Awesome End
Love this series. I hope it continues. Love the characters, the three female prefects at Oxford are wonderful women, courageous and smart. The best character is H, a Wyvern eternal. He has the soul of a man, the body of a dragon, and appears to humans as a cat. His personality is cheeky, loyal, sensitive, playful, and brave. And the mysteries are interesting. The books are fast paced, and each of the prefects have a love interest. What's not to like?

An Ending...and A New Adventure?
Whew! I raced through this book as Natalie and her companions faced their toughest challenge: An enemy who was determined to destroy the magic at Oxford. Then, when it seemed that the series was ending, there is the promise of more adventures to come. I LOVE these books.

A most satisfying conclusion
Even though the series will continue, the arc that began with the first volume is wrapped up in a most gratifying way, with growth, revelations, romance, and even a little Hollywood magic.

A great wrap-up to this paranormal cozy story arc! The characters are fully developed and believable, and settings are so well described that you feel you are right there. I highly recommend this series and look forward to seeing where Lynn Morrison next takes her fascinating characters.

Oxford University mystery
A cozy mystery with ghosts and villains, along with a historical film production taking place at Oxford University. Nat, Kate, and Matilda must solve the mystery of who is interfering with the magic of Oxford.

so many mysteries!
I can’t believe how many mysteries there were to solve in this one book! Such an amazing story. These characters are all so wonderful. The way things came together at the end was just so heartwarming. I am so happy that this series is going to continue!

So many details from previous books in the series really came together to set this one up, making the major changes easy to follow — and exciting to boot. I stayed up late to finish this one!
