A bet turned into a disaster.

Sebastian Weaver is the star quarterback and the college’s heartthrob.
Rich. Handsome. Bastard.
Everyone’s attention flocked toward him and all the girls dreamed to be with him.
Not me.
At least, not until he made a move on me.
See, I thought I was stronger than Sebastian’s charms.
I thought I could survive being his target.
I thought wrong.

now why did i waste my time reading this???

this was just porn, there is no story here and if there is, it just doesn't make sense... sebastian has the mind of a serial killer/psychopath, i was legit waiting for him to shoot up the school sjhdjkas with the way he fantasized about violence.

Also the way this book basically fetishized Japanese culture was not it either, this was more cultural appropriation than appreciation.

i'm so disappointed especially because asher and reina's book was actually

RED THORNSIs a full length 'Romance' novel by Rina Kent. Spoken in 'Dual perspectives' Ends in a cliff hanger.

It all started with a bet..But it became so much more than that!!

This was a cat and mouse kinky read, it went from hot to scorching in no time at all, where the chase brought out their depraved tendencies.

Naomi: Is a bit of an anti-social loner, joined the cheerleader squad due to her mother requesting it of her, has had a bit of a crush on Sebastian for a while but has kept it
*edit* : my mistake, it is a college romance. I genuinely thought it was high-school because not a single portion of the entire book made me believe it was a college setting.

Can I just start off with the cover? I mean how is that the cover of a college romance? I mean seriously.

Now on to the book ; Think about After. But Hardin says shit like this

“I’m rich, handsome, and a star. Oh, I also come from a prestigious family. What’s there not to like about me?”

p.s. stop making bets as a humongous aspect in books, it’s getting old. i don’t even know why i bothered with this author, it’s a lost cause.

What started out as a bet became so much more between two characters who on the outside are the complete opposites of each other but on the inside, they're one and the very same. But what happens when you skirt the line of danger and destroy feelings you never thought was possible with someone who brings out another side to you?

Naomi is not your regular bubbly college student popular cheerleader. If it was up to her, she would be the one on the sidelines wearing a black hoodie and imagining

Listen, if I wanted to just read porn, I’d watch it. That’s really all this book is, sex scenes upon sex scenes and it got boring. Listen, I’ve really liked Kent’s work before. Her Deception trilogy is *chef’s kiss* 🤌🏻, but this truly was not it

I was so ready to love this, but it fell short.
Besides their kink, the characters felt a little underdeveloped (which is why rating may change after duet ends)
Both were a little cliché. I get what Rina tried to do with Sebastian, and I love the idea of it. The execution, however, fell flat. He seemed flat. Maybe it's because we only got a few chapters from his point of view, but other than his dirty talk and supposedly good looks I couldn'

So I haven't read an RK book in a while, and I admit all the teasers and Rina saying that this was her 'darkest & most twisted' book get intrigued me.. but ya'll, this was not dark. Or twisted. Or intriguing.

So here we have the usual hot guy, Sebastian, who is the big man on campus and can have & nail anyone he wants, but if you guessed that there is more to the cocky dude with all the money but very little emotions, you're sadly mistaken.

As for Naomi, it was like the author took every Ja

Wildly popular, rich, and attractive star quarterback from a family of politicians meets socially reclusive cheerleader of an haute couture house ran her successful single mother. They have so much in common -- from masked social behavior: he, careful and expressively controlled but secretly unleashed; and she, antisocial and sarcastic but painfully insecure. Sebastian and Naomi adhere to set of social protocols, and they are both perfect for each other

Rina Kent warned that this book would be taboo, so I was a little scared of what it might be about. Now that I've read it, OMG! In my opinion this is the kinkiest book Rina has ever written. Naomi is a character that I am quite liking: she is independent, smart, cheeky and sarcastic. Has peculiar tastes. She doesn’t cares about what others think of her and often keeps her emotions and feelings under control. She has kept her crush for Sebastian a secret, until one day he notices her and from the ...more

Okay! I was not expecting this! My mind is completely blown away once again by Ms. Kent in the best way possible.

Rina explored something very different in this one. Now I don't want to give out any spoilers because that will ruin the reading experience.

For those of you who have read the Lies & Truth duet, (and if you haven’t, then what are you waiting for?), we know how Sebastian takes up a dare to sleep with Naomi. In this book we finally get to

Deliciously dark, dangerously addictive a sinful masterpiece to devour, and ultimately be consumed by its decadent beauty.

I don’t how Rina manages to top each of her previous story but she does it, I bet the small creatures living in her writing cave are drunk on all this lush inspiration, I can almost hear them whispering, conjuring dark, broken heroes who will totally annihilate my poor fellow readers and I. Ye

I had way too high expectation from this book after finishing her deception trilogy and maybe that's the reason why I'm so disappointed with this book rn. My main problem with this book is that Sebastian and Naomi had never even talked with each other properly and then they went straight to having consensual non consensual sex. I get it that both the main characters have "rape fantasies" but they need to at least communicate to built a certain level of trust between them in order to be able to e ...more

I like Ms Kent's books, well those that I've read...

And honestly , this "dark-non/con-dubious-sexual exploit" simply doesn't fit in an NA world, *shrugs*

It might sound weird BUT that's what it felt for me, you see, to have that kind of depravity just lingering inside a young character brings out more deep questions - about his/hers mental health...for example, and it was just poorly portrayed, maybe, well probably age has nothing to do with this type o
Honestly, this was boring af to read. Sebastian felt like an underdeveloped darker blend of all Rina Kent's previous heroes. There was nothing different; it was the same old same old politician's rich grandchild with issues and a talent at hiding his emotions🙄. Can we please get one hero from her that doesn't have the perfect pokerface😐.

Naomi was obviously our 21 year old virgin, who's mind flew to Mars the second Sebastian touched her. I felt no connection, no chemistry between them. 😔 It all

Rina’s most twisted, depraved, and psychologically complicated series to date. Naomi is my favorite Rina heroine of all time- and her relationship with Sebastian is so deliciously unusual. This series is a story wildly consuming and emotionally trying.

If you are Rina fan, this is definitely going to feel a bit different- we’ve got more triggering kink at play (and one that I don’t often seen handled transparently and with kink-cognizance in the new adult genre), and here the kinks come into pl

A story of two at face value unmatched characters who inherently had more in common than they knew. When I open a Rina Kent book I know it will inevitably captivate me from the prologue, push steamy boundaries, savagely dark anti-heroes, sassy heroines, and a storyline that she beautifully brings to life on the pages.

Red Thorns was nonpareil, the savage darkness that lives inside of Sebastian is unparalleled, the high voltage connection he and Naomi shared felt like a gravitational pull, growing stronger every time they unshackled their darkness, making this my #1 dark read of 2021.
