My favorite memoir I’ve read in a long time! Must read!

I am an avid memoir fan and I just loved this book!!! The author from the very beginning pulls the reader into his life with an open and honest voice. It’s like hearing from a good friend really opening up to you. Also his story is specific to his own trajectory with his struggles but I could immediately relate my own life story to his although they are totally different details. What really got me and was so helpful to me was his own realization he was trying to avoid pain through various means. I think this is something everyone. An relate to. I also loved how his letters to his son was a genius mechanism to help tell his story to the reader. Honestly one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I recommend it to anyone that wants to hear about one man’s story of how through a path of mindfulness that we all could benefit from. Truly all we have is right now. We get to hear his voice first hand how he found love for himself, became an engaged and loving father, friend, teacher and it shows is all a way out of the numbness many of us seek out through a multitude of avenues in life. What struck me most was it’s almost a guidebook for how we can all flourish and engage with life- both the painful experiences as well as the joy! I just honestly recommend this book to anyone from any walk of life. Well done- and as a debut work!!! Looking forward to more from Stock!!!
