Laylah doesn’t know what to think when Blue acts strange, even asking her out on a date. There’s no way it can work. Where Blue is many of her firsts: first kiss, first date, first boyfriend—she isn’t any of his. His reputation puts her off.
Blue Jones is in completely, head-over-heels in love with Laylah Miller. They’ve been going to the same school, but after one look at her, everything changes. He has to have her. She’s the first woman he's ever fallen for, and he doesn’t want to go another day without staking his claim.
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
What is it with the hero especially when popular high school guy sleeping around a ton and the heroine being positioned as lily white/virginal 🙄, definitely annoys me in a way it didn't in the past.
I hate condom use in a romance—it destroys the intimacy and sense of connection, the sense of oneness between the MCs by placing a barrier physical between them. It’s not sexy, it’s not romantic. It also implies lack of commitment as well as a lack of trust.
Unfortunately this books sex scenes had them, which means the sex scenes sucked, so I returned for a full refund. Not gonna lie, I’m here for the romance AND the smut.
Blue and Laylah have been attending the same schools since kindergarten. But they didn’t run in the same circles. Blue was a jock and Laylah was the nerdy girl who always had her head in a book. But now that they are seniors for some reason Blue can’t keep his eyes off of Laylah. And he cant seem to help falling for her. But Laylah wants nothing to do with him.
Laylah has no idea why Blue all of a sudden wants to date her. She knows his reputation and she wants none of that. She has kept her head down and focused on her books and getting good grades. But Blue just won’t leave her alone. And she can’t help but be intrigued by him. Until her car breaks down and Blue know this is his chance. Come hell or high water his going to have his girl 😊 ♥
Sweet, kind of hot for a high school read. But definitely a good one. I liked that even though Blue had a terrible reputation, Laylah didn’t judge him for it and when she gave him a chance she didn’t let that come in their way. She trusted him when he said that he was devoted to her and wouldn’t cheat. Blue was persistent though and even though she wouldn’t give him the time of day he kept coming up and proved to her that he was in it for the long haul. An Enjoyable afternoon read 😊 ♥
I don't normally read stories where the main characters are in high school but this one caught and kept my attention. I actually loved it. Laylah and Blue are seniors and lately Blue has taken a complete interest in her. He's the football star and she's the book nerd. It takes him awhile but he finally gets her to go out with him but she still is very reluctant. I mean, he's a HUGE player, or he was in the past, but it's going to take a lot of effert to make her understand he's not that guy anymore. I liked the fact that there was no other woman drama going on. Sometimes it's a nice change of pace. The only drama was with the guys on his football team. It was resolved quickly and for the most part, the team changed their minds about Laylah when she was partly responsible for getting Blue to go back. Just a really sweet story that I love seeing Sam Crescent write every now and then. I love that the heroines in her stories are plus size ladies but are also happy with themselves. And of course, I always like seeing where the couple is a few years down the road so epilogues are always nice to read!
This was not what I expected. I honestly thought I was going to enjoy this book. I thought the idea behind this book was really nice and that it was pretty hot 🔥. But it was to fast faced. They all expected Laylah to tell him I love you so quickly and made her feel bad about it. But I think this was because the book said it had been a few weeks when it seemed like only a few days and said a few months when we barely get any insight on how Laylah and Blue's relationship progressed. At the beginning of the book Blue also kissed her without consent which I have a huge problem with: "He stared at her as she looked at him, seeming completely clueless about what to say. To help her along, he grabbed her hip, and in front of the entire corridor of people, he slammed his lips down on hers, kissing her. It wasn’t how he’d hoped to have their first kiss, but for now, it was going to have to do. ... ... All of a sudden, the kiss that shouldn’t have been changed. She pushed him away hard. Right there in front of everyone, she slapped him across the face and stormed away. He was left speechless as he admired her ass on the walk away. What the fuck had he done? He’d felt her submission. She’d wanted his kiss and he wasn’t going to allow her to deny it. He’d fucking felt it."
He shouldn't have done, and this is my opinion. If you don't have a problem with a fast paced, seemingly Insta-love story, and Blue's actions, you should definitely read this.

Very short lite romance. Sweet high school nerd girl with oblivious jock guy. I would have liked more drama or something to give it more excitement but even still it was sweet reading the MMC get the confused FMC to be his. It definitely needed more steam. I have to say I read this book twice because I completely forgot it after the first time and still after reading book two I barely remember it it’s that forgettable.
Having said that, it’s a borrow not buy kind of book. Why pay if it’s so unmemorable. Enjoy.
Love Sam Crescent and for a quick read this was pretty good. It is a insta-love Romance. A feel good story that leaves you with a smile. Worth the quick read to get in the feel good mood.
°Virgin heroine °Manwhore hero °Switching POVs °Both are 18 y/o °They've been going to the same school since kindergarten but he never really noticed her until recently, that's when he stopped sleeping around °Free of OW/OM drama °No separation °Annoying heroine °No cheating °Pushing away from the heroine °Intimate scenes only between the MCs °Epilogue: 7 years later
I tried to like this but I couldn’t get into it. It felt very rushed Ans just through after thought. I’m also disappointed Sam always does plus size women but this one was not. And 3.99 for 70 pages. Like I said I couldn’t get into it.
Blue Jones was the top jock, the football champion and a big deal in the school. He knew it and was finally prepared to make it work for him. He desperately wanted Laylah, the nerdy girl, and was determined to make her his. Blue had made it clear to his teammates she was off limits and he didn’t care his so-called friends made fun of him wanting the nerdy girl, Blue was determined and was prepared to use whatever he could to have her.
While I found the premise of this story pretty well-worn (popular high school guy with the serious hots for the nerdy not-so-popular girl in his class) I was relieved that the story wasn’t as straightforward as I initially expected. I thought the author found an interesting way to both keep Blue and Laylah from jumping immediately into bed together, but also to stop them from rushing into a relationship with no real “getting to know you” phase.
Readers looking for a slightly slower pace to their spicy romance stories should find that this fits the bill. Laylah and Blue don’t rush into things though Blue is very persistent and keeps a fair amount of pressure on Laylah to get what he wants. I was pleased that Laylah didn’t just cave in or let go of her own morals and feelings though I’m not certain more traditional readers will enjoy how hard Blue pushed until Laylah did capitulate. While I enjoy intimate and spicier romances I think more traditional romance readers mightn’t find this as comfortable as they might like.
With spicy and explicit scenes and a lovely happy ending I feel this story will appeal to a wide range of readers.
“I don’t know. Why is she always reading, anyway? Doesn’t she realize it calls for everyone to want to pick on her?” I don’t know what kind of schools y’all go to, but nobody bullies or picks on someone for reading.
Becky hated men of all kinds right now. She was going through what she considered her feminist phase. I am sorry, the fuck is this?! But, Becky isn’t wrong for hating men, it’s their fault for being so hateable.
She said no several times and he still pursued after her, like dude just back off. And second of all, he kissed her without her consent. Wtf!!!
I had a married woman show me how to please a woman.” Okay, so he had lost his virginity at 14, and I think this quote is saying that the woman he lost his virginity to was a lot older, as in a adult. So he was raped? Groomed? This is so fucked up?!
Final Thought: This book was fucking trash.

Blue was the all-around jock and guy that all the girls wanted except for one, Laylah. Laylah didn’t want to be part of his games and surely didn’t think he would have any interest in a nerd. Blue wasn’t going to let her get away. She was the one. Something about her just drew him in. It’s a sweet story with a nerd and a jock finding love. I can understand Laylah’s uncertainty with Blue but he was so sincere. And he always protected her. I enjoyed this story. Looking forward to Claiming Macie.
I love high school romance a lot, I know some readers finds them icky but not me. Yes they are young buy they're also human with feelings, some of them are more mature than they look. I love how he went after her, he didn't give up. Both fell and that's the most important thing, nicely done.
2.5 ⭐️ ok at first i was feeling it bc it was a jock x nerd trope where the jock is obsessed and she dgaf abt him. but idk it felt WAYYYY too fast like every next page is next base and i just wished the author just wrote more to make this relationship solid. at the end it felt like this story is superficial and shallow. ig that’s what i get for it being less than 100 pages 🤷♀️
This book is barely eighty pages. It was really short for the price.
The hero is a jock football player. Heroine is a nerd who gets very good grades. One day the hero sees her smile and suddenly becomes obsessed with her. She repeatedly turns him down for a date because he has dated many women and has a reputation as a player. He never stays with anyone long.
I love everything about Sam Crescents books. And this one I love. I love the high school romances. And I love how the plus size girl gets her man. I love it! Thank you Sam for writing wonderful books about the plus size girl who gets her man.
This is weird because is like a bullying story without the bullying. Like a normal ya highschool love story with no drama , restrictions or self hate. It was so no problematic that it has taken me back! Wow!
I love blue and laylah’s love story. This type of love makes you want a swoon worthy amazing man to sweep you off your feet. Some days you just need this type of love! Absolutely amazing!
It's an all right story. I loved that the female lead wasn't the doormat in the usual case in this author's work. But I gotta admit it still lacked some umph.
