Vampire Queen #17

Vampire Guardian

Rate this book
Fae and vampires never fall in love. Except when they do.

Adan has come to Club Atlantis to do a job. The BDSM club is to become part of the portal network for magic users. A born vampire with the blood of a Cherokee shaman and an Irish Seer, Adan is apprenticed to a Light Guardian helping him hone his skills to become a full sorcerer. Perhaps even a Guardian himself one day.

But Club Atlantis is a haven for a Fae female, an unwelcome distraction. His hatred for her kind means even her scent can set off his bloodlust.

Catriona is a Fae unsettled in her own world, and physiologically unable to be in the human one without extraordinary protections in place. She can’t put down roots anywhere. For a tree nymph, that’s a serious problem. One that calls for a solution that will appall the Fae world.

History says a vampire and a Fae who fall in love are destined for tragedy. But love has a way of refusing to be ignored. No matter the consequences…

When a year and a half goes by between books in a series I tend to forget what was in the last book that provides background for characters in the current book.
There were characters in this book that had their own novels which I read 10 years ago or more.
Also there were passages that reminded me that there are other series by J.W. Hill that cross into this world that I have not read.
I wish that there had been a list in the beginning that recommended which books to read or reread before reading this one.
At 57% I was forcing myself to keep reading through the boring pillow talk.
Finally at 77% the sh*t hits the fan and the story has you at the edge of your seat.
I have to state that I hate the fae queen. She's a capricious and duplicitous bitch.
The long goodbye near the end had me using up a lot of tissues.
The end wasn't a cliffhanger but I felt like I was being dangled over the edge a little. It felt rushed. I would have liked to see a tiny fraction of the "hell" Adan went through. I wanted to see some closure with the family.
The BDSM in this story was almost nonexistent.

This book was perfect.

So, I would like to begin by saying that BDSM books are out of my comfort zone. And by that I mean that it's not a world I completely understand.

It's as if I like emeralds, but the characters like rubies. And Joey W. Hill is the first author I read that writes BDSM BOOKS. Not just romance book were there are sex scenes with BDSM elements in it (I think it's inevitable that a romance readers come across these stories), but books were the characters LIVE and NEED this specific lifestyle. And while it won't change that, at the end of the book I still love emeralds, in many of her books I can also see why the characters love rubies and why a ruby suited them much better than an emerald ever could.

And then there is this series "Vampire Queens".

In my previous reviews I think it' s clear that there are some elements that really clash with me, to the point that it can be way beyond my comfort zone and acceptance.

It's mainly due to the fact that, it takes BDSM in some more extreme forms, not as much for the sex (altough it can represent the aspect quite well), but for the way it extend in their lifestyles, especially the servants. It's as if the characters love diamonds (and often throughout the books they actually have to realize and accept that they actually want and love diamonds) but, it's so foreign to me, that what they see as diamond I see as a pool of mud. And no matter how shiny it is for the character. I can't stop from seeing so much mud that, even tough the character may truly be perfect for one another (and I can even see that they'll never find someone else as perfect) I just can't truly understand why someone would make their choices and become a servant (especially if/when they can choose otherwise).

So why, do I keep reading this series, if one of the most important and central aspects of it, is something that, more often then not, really irritates me?

For several reasons.

1) Joey. W. Hill writes magnificently. I just LOVE her writing style, the way she can just captures your attention and never let it go. There is just something magical in the way she writes that resonates with me.

2) This is a very compelling and interesting world, despite my own grievances about it.

3) sometimes, there are some books, where you just don't care if that's mud. Why would I? That isn't simple mud, that's SACRED mud and better than any water you'll ever find. Instead of being befuddled and annoyed because the characters want to swim and immerse themselves in it, I cheer for them and encouragethem to launch themselves.
And in this case, I see something even more precious than a diamond.

And when all these 3 categories are together? Well, then you have MAGIC. And a book that I truly love. Where I don't care about any of my problems with the series and the previous books. I just LOVE the one I'm reading. Completely and absolutely.

And this book fits all the right boxes.

That's just how I felt about Adan, Catriona and their relationship. They just grasped my heart and never let it go. I wanted to bash anyone who would even think of opposing them.

This book was everything I wanted it to be and even more. From the way it develops the relationship between the couple, how they really help one another grow and how they fit each other to the the secondary characters and their relationships.

I loved seeing the relationship Adan had with his father, mother and sister. The way they loved, respected and protected each other. Loved seeing Derek and Ruby (which are the main characters in another series). Love seeing Kelwin and Uther and seeing them with Cwtrion (even in the most difficult situations). The new friendship and rivalries.

Even characters that I didn't particularly enjoy, still shined in this book and made it richer.

So yeah, I loved this book. It may even be better than "Taken by a Vampire" (which, until this point, was my favourite).

So yeah, I'm glad I got to read it. I hope the author will write some short stories about them. And yeah, I said love a lot of times, but the word just fit so well for this book and all his apsects❤️😊

Wow. Review to come.Grab some tissues and settle in for an emotional rollercoaster ride. I loved this book and ended up sniffling through several scenes. Ms. Hill moves me in this erotic romance. The character development and growth, the erotic power exchange and world building all come together to create a magical experience. For readers who want complex characters in a star-crossed lover scenario, this book is for you.

5 Star Review Vampire Guardian (Vampire Queen #17) by Joey W Hill

As I have come to expect from a book by Joey W Hill, Vampire Guardian was well written and held me captive from the first page to the last. If you are a fan of paranormal and fantasy romance then this book will be right up your alley. The Vampire Guardian is a love story about soul mates that just happens to revolve around Vampires and the Fae.

Both Adan and Catriona are wounded souls who struggle with their places in the world. When they meet at Club Atlantis they know that they cannot pursue anything as relationships between Vampires and Fae are forbidden and yet there is something between them that they cannot ignore despite the repercussions that await them.

Nobody writes characters that are damaged and in need like Ms. Hill. The scenes are hot, yet emotional, drawing the reader in so much that you almost feel that you are witnessing it first hand. The road they travel to get to their HEA is long, winding and rocky, but it will be worth it in the end.

If you have read other books by Ms.Hill then you will see some familiar faces show up which added to my enjoyment of this book. This is a dark, smoking hot story, with some drama and angst, which had me reading well into the night.

This book is sublime. This story is filled with pain, loss, anger, sex, politics, power, humor and most of all love. Adan and Catriona are young for their given species and yet they’ve developed a deep soul binding love for each other. They need to overcome prejudices and pain from their respective pasts, and laws and strictures put in place by their respective Queens.
The author knows that true love is the greatest power and shows us that in this terrific tale. This story is part of a series but can be read standalone just fine. Grab a glass of wine, a comfy seat and get lost in this riveting story.

Definitely a different take on star crossed lovers. Adan is a vampire and Catriona is a fae. In the paranormal world they’re mortal enemies. Kind of puts a huge damper on things.

But fated love can’t be stopped even if it has to jump some serious hurdles to end in a HEA.

This is a new to me author and I enjoyed the book though I think I should have read books in this series before diving in to this one. I felt a little loss at times with the obvious references to characters from other books.

* I received this book as an ARC for a honest review.

Love of his heart and soul.

Wow!! What can I say but amazed and out of this world great. It still amazes me how Joey creates the perfect flow between worlds. It makes me want to live in them. Adan and Catriona was not suppose to be but fate, love and the universe had other plans. Will they make it or will rules of the fae world and fate pull them apart? I highly recommend this book. This is a emotionally one. Oh, how we got to see and hear, from some of my all time favorite characters!!!

Ms Hill does her magic! Again!
The equivalent of a teenager among Vampires, aspiring to - maybe, someday - become a Guardian and an equally young Fae, adrift in both, the human, as in the Fae world.
An impossible, a forbidden match. But ...
They are both hampered by trauma in their past, both have reasons to resent the others species, nevertheless, against all odds they grow to deeply care for each other.
This is another one of this authors masterpieces. If anyone can make me bawl my eyes out over a fictional pair, it is Ms Hill. As always her characters are so well developed that you can feel them, see them, smell them! They creep inside you and won't let you go, long after reading the last sentence.
I hated this one to end!
I need to know more about them!
Soon!!!

“Lasting change is something planted by example and nurtured in each individual heart.” Its a quote from "Vampire Guardian". Thats all you really need to know about this book. But I'm going to give you more...

The ups and down of emotion were constant, but not just as a romance. Which this story is, it just *is* in so many different definitions of the word.

Aden and Catriona were front and centre of course, as the love story was theirs. And their story matured despite (or maybe because of) their youth and naiveté. And lord, I never imagined it would end in this version of Aden, but whatever Ms. Hill puts in her koolaid, I want me some of that!

As always, and in some ways the best parts for me, like the crispy bits of burnt cheese in a casserole or the scraps of charred bacon that are more carbon than food source, the best parts of a Hill tale are the thought provoking morsels that are a barely visible yet integral part of the weave. Ups-and-downs, and backs-and-forths usually leave me screaming in agony with a read, but these are raw. Not in the dreaded overly-angsty way. But in the way of the world(s) learning to adapt; of the pain of change in the name of growth. In this case, it is watching absolutely every single, often beloved character the story touches, become...more.

Its not preachy. Not even remotely. In fact, I don't even know if it was intentional. Its totally organic which is the absolute magic of it, because we watch not just this couple of enemies to soul-mates strive for their destiny in an almost soul-destroying way, we get to watch their 'elders' learn from them as they offer pure if painfully insightful guidance to them.

This series has always offered me the best of the best paranormal reads ever written. This one, right here? Is one of the jewels.

OH MY! Wow. I was completely hooked by this book. The didn't put it down except when I absolutely had to. Adan and Catriona, while young, have both been through so much to shape them into who they are. While Adan has a deep hatred for the Fae, Catriona does not feel the same towards vampires. It was a gripping story of these two overcoming so much that had happened to them and finding a true, soul mate, love. There is so much hate, love, danger, rules, and more to this book. Have tissue handy. I did cry... a few times.

I've been loving this series for a long time but this book left me cold. I never really warmed up to Catriona in previous books and Adan was... annoying and bratty. I absolutely want HEA in every book and I don't want any of the protagonists to suffer/die, but it was a little bit too cute how in this book all the rules and laws could be changed because of who was breaking them.

In all fairness, I also have to say that I am not a fan of series' intersecting and also dislike magic/witches etc, so that also probably affected my enjoyment of the book.

(It did nothing to knock Joey W. Hill off the pedestal I keep her on, as one of my top 2 romance writers ;) She and Cara McKenna still reign supreme<3 )

Part of a series.
Stand-alone? As I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series, I’d say yes, but I did get the feeling there are things going on in previous books, so I’ll probably go back and read the rest at some point. But it didn’t detract from the main story.

Vampires and Fae are bitter enemies? They don’t mix and they certainly don’t mate each other!

Adan is a young vampire (well to the vampire community he is) but he’s here to assess the BDSM club his boss/mentor sent him to check out.
The club intends to be more a club, it’s going to be used as a portal to different realms, and so it needs to be secure. His job is to enter undetected and then report back.

Adan was taken by the Fae as a very young boy, it changed him, and he swore never to be powerless again!

Becoming a light guardian is all Adan has ever wanted to be, to protect and wield magic, to help others as he himself was helped. He wants to become the youngest to do what only the oldest and strongest vampires can do.
That path hasn’t been easy, he’s impatient and a little egotistical, so this job is an important step in his training.

Catriona a wood nymph. She doesn’t fit in anywhere. Too unusual to pretend to be human and unhappy in her realm, so coming to the club seemed the best option until she can work out what she wants.
A quiet creature, but with a quiet strength that will hold her steady in this book.

Dealing with loss, pain and rejection, this book deals with it all.
Both main characters know that they shouldn’t be together, but neither can stay away from each other.

His hate is all encompassing for the Fae and all of a sudden there is one staring at him from across the water! He wants to rip her throat out and drink her intoxicating blood but he also wants to dominate her! And that has him thinking she’s enchanted him somehow….

Time spent together has them fighting their feelings for one another. But how can Adan get past his hatred? And can Catorina be everything to him?

The master and servant plays a big part in this book, but it’s treated with reverence and respect. Those scenes were some of my favourite parts of the book, reading the interaction makes you understand a little more of the power play between the two characters.

We also get a byplay of secondary characters (these are from previous stories) which I was a totally inboard with (I need to know more about these now) 😆

Can this couple really make a go of it? It was great watching them connect and grow as a couple, to read how they fought their feelings, and then fought to stay together.

Romance? There is plenty to keep the romantic happy, there is also enough spice to keep you riveted to the book.

I’ve read a few of the authors other series (Natural Desire) and I loved some of the books and characters in that series.

Recommend? Definitely. This book was one I couldn’t put down. And I’m now interested in the rest of the series.
Beautifully written, and thought out really well.
This author knows her genre, and she shows it in the mastery of her words. Your pulled in, you become entangled in the world. You hold your breath as they they battle both their feelings and both the communities they herald from.
And when Adan gets the opportunity to train in the Underworld as a guardian, he’s torn! That means leaving everyone he knows, including his little Fae!

Will they survive the separation?

To save money (I read a lot), I subscribed to Kindle Unlimited. I sometimes come across nuggets, but more often on "could do (way) better". Immersing yourself in the rich and complex universe of the Vampire Queen series is like finding yourself in front of a 5 star feast after months of bad food. yum!

I read a lot of series, and I always end up getting bored, often because the author made the tour of what was possible to approach in his universe and with their characters. It becomes redundant, sometimes it even smell of stretched sauce to continue selling books.

So I want to congratulate Joey because there is nothing redundant about her world of vampires and witches. I think one of the reasons is that the main characters change often (but this is not a foolproof guarantee: the Guild Hunter series is proof of that. I loved the first books, but since a few years it smells of stretched sauce).

As always, the characters are super well constructed, have depth, nuance, are not perfect, make mistakes, so they are very endearing. We are lucky to find characters from other books in the series - as I had not read anything from the promotion, I had some good surprises while reading.

I realized that part of me preferred the vampires who are at the top of the totem pole, so Adan was starting with a handicap, but despite his behavior at the beginning , he was able to earn my esteem throughout the story.

Catriona is the epitome of youthful idealism. A real Juliet! But also a real Cosette, especially when we focus on her relationship with Keldwyn.

I know the story ends where it should end. I know. I know. But a part of me would have liked it to last just a little longer,

I always find it hard to leave Joey's vampire universe. So I decided to reread Arcane Shot trilogy in full, and maybe even read the only novel in the series that I haven't read: the story of Malachi and Elisa. The vampire children were holding me back, but I think I'm now able to dive into this part of the series.

Than you so much Joey for this wonderful story, I really hope you're not done with Vampire Queen series! :)=

Adan is a born vampire. Special not only because he's a twin but because he's also an apprentice sorcerer, with asperations of becoming a Light Guardian. He was kidnapped and abused by the Fae as a child. Now seventy, he came to Club Atlantis to assist in creating the portal and the magics necessary to keep all safe. The question is will this exposure to the Fae after all this time break him or make him stronger?

At forty, Catriona is considered a young dryad, a tree nymph. even after all these years she has never felt she belonged in the Fae world. The human world has called to her all her life which led to a tragedy, leaving her even more vulnerable than she was before. With the help of Lord Keldwyn, the father of her heart, she was given special permission to reside at Club Atlantis to recover and hopefully heal.

When Adan and Catriona first met it's clear Adan hasn't healed from the trauma from his childhood as bloodlust almost overcomes him. Catriona's calming nature touches something in Adan and from their first touch a connection was made.

Adan and Catriona are both wounded souls. Different traumas that took them on different paths in life, Catriona withdrew to the stillness of her tree soul, Adan struggles with explosive emotions with regards to the Fae until Catriona. Something within her reaches him and helps him work to heal the festering wound.

Watching these two explore Catriona's newly discovered submissive side and fall in love was delicious, even as it was forbidden.

Hill is guaranteed to bring out the charm, the feels and the heat, all packaged in the deadly, magical Vampire/Fae world. There's a reason this series is an auto buy for me, the bonus in this book is getting to see so many characters from previous books playing parts in their story.

LOVE THIS BOOK, THE SERIES and the AUTHOR! Thank you for expanding this already amazing world and making even better.

"That road might be bumpy, but you continue to go forward."

Books by Joey W. Hill are an intense, emotional ride, every time, and Vampire Guardian lived up to that expectation. Adan and Catriona each comes with baggage, and negative (personal) impressions of the other's species, only made worse by societal prejudice.

This story tapped in a lit of characters from previous stories. When I first realized Catriona was fae I was delighted her use brought in Keldwyn and Uthe. Adan, A relatively young vampire, brought in his parents Mal and Elissa, among others.

Trying to review this book, without spoiling anything is hard, but these young lovers cross boundaries, tread dangerous ground, and leave Lady Lyssa and her half-sister seeming ready to pull their hair out as they try to enforce the law of their land/kind, and still care for all under their command/protection at the same time.

While I would not refer to the Vampire Queen series as having an overarching arc, it is a rich and detailed Universe in which life continues to move forward. There are political machinations, a population of roughly 5,000 vampires giving the worldwide Vampire community that small town everyone knows a mutual friend feel.

I am so glad I had read Keldwyn and Uthe's story before this one, as it laid important groundwork/understanding for the relationship between Vampires and Fae. While this story could stand on its own (I read their story when it was a new release, so it wasn't fresh in my mind), if I were going to read one story before this one to get to know some of the characters... I'd go for theirs... Though I recall loving Mal's when it first came out and just moved it to my to be re-read stack while reading this.

This is the story of Adan, a born vampire; son of Malachi and Elisa (from Vampire Instinct) who meets, and is totally captivated by, Catriona, a half-Fae/half-human, the ward of Keldwyn and Uthe (from Knight's Templar).
Adan is brought into Anwyn's Club Altlantis to help design a secure portal for access by various magical "folk". Catriona is staying there at the moment (as a respite from the Fae world). And, oh, btw, a vampire and a fae are NOT allowed to fall in love.
Because Adan is 'young' by vampire standards, his immediate attraction to Catriona releases his need to Mark her - which indeed happens, even though both marks are accidental. Their attraction intensifies to the extent that Adan gives her the third mark - which is a no-no.
So... tissues are necessary from Chapter 24 onwards (and possibly before that too!!)
There's a lot of magic happening (with both Derek and Mikhael making appearances as important Guardians); and Dante, with Alexis (from A Mermaid's Ransom) are also involved.
Ms Hill's skill in writing is shown here - exceptionally well. We learn and know EVERYTHING that both Adan and Catriona feel and experience (hence the tissues).
Another masterpiece :)

Utterly stunning. I LOVED EVERYTHING. While I’m not a big fan of paranormal genre, I’m also not an anti-fan. I enjoy reading it occasionally, but Vampire Guardian made me rethink my reading habits. This book was so captivating and engaging that one cannot simply put it down, least of all me. I legit had to ban myself from even opening the book for almost a week as I couldn’t stop reading once started.
Catriona and Adan were everything I love in MCs. Both were strong individuals but for whom this strength was presented differently. Where Adan was talented young vampire navigating his way towards being a Guardian, the air of confidence radiating from him makes you feel at peace, like the answer can be found. Catriona was solid like a tree, her devotion to Adan and the human world was mesmerizing.
While I haven’t read other books from Joey W Hill, and therefore all characters were new, I could tell that each and every one of them has an interesting background story.
Truly amazing story and I’m sure that it won’t be my last.

I had the chance to read this book before it came out, and I enjoyed the heck out of it. Adan and Catriona make a wonderful couple, though both of them are wounded characters. To make matters worse, they’re literally star-crossed lovers, since Catriona is Fey and Adan is a vampire. Their relationship is forbidden, yet they find they can’t resist each other.

The book also features appearances by many of my favorite Vampire Queen universe characters, like Derek Sormwind, the half-Angel guardian from Something About Witches who is Adan’s instructor in magic. The backdrop for the story is Atlantis, the BDSM from Vampire Mistress and Vampire Trinity, and Anwyn, Gideon and Daegan also appear.

Like the earlier books, it’s a dark, sexy story, with deliciously erotic romance and absorbing drama. Well worth reading!

5 😂😢🤬😱🥰 a roller coaster of emotions story

I really enjoy the Joey Hill’s writing and story telling and absolutely love her Nature of Desire series, so I thought I should try one of her paranormal books. I was truly overwhelmed by this forbidden love story in the Vampire Guardian between a young (relative in vampire years) apprentice vampire and a Fae. I laughed and I cried. I was mad at them and mad for them. There were so many emotions experienced it is hard to adequately express how good this story is. And in Joey Hill fashion, how these two overcome the obstacles is unique, joyful and gut wrenching all at the same time. If you have not read Joey Hill before, this book can be read as stand-alone. Then like me, you will reading her advice and plotting how you are going to go backwards and read about the other characters that you meet in this book.

She did not disappoint. She wore 3 different series characters together and it was FANTASTIC. This is a story crossing the Fae & Vampires and it does not start out friendly. The angst, love and despair felt brought me to tears. Loved seeing Daegan, Anwyn, and Gideon again. Time for another Novella Joey W Hill.

This is my favorite series of all time and no books to date have made me cry more. I have reread 6 times. Every time a new book comes out I start over, know what's coming, and still cry then read the new book. Please try them. The first book hooks you in the first few pages !! BDSM, there trigger warning as vampires have slaves/servants. Note: multi partner, menage, sword crossing, no boundaries. Find the novellas, some of the best scenes, and emotionally satisfying with love if these characters are free reads on author's site. Lordy !!

There were times during this book I wasn't sure I would finish it without having to buy another because the first had been thrown into the arroyo behind the house. This story is based in Club Atlantis for most of the first half of the story. We also get to see Mal and Elisa. Their children are grown and the son is training to be a magician. Adan is given to the task of adding a portal to Club Atlantis so other being can come and go in the club. One of the new addition is Lord Keldwyn's ward Catriona. Catriona is a submissive and she finds Adan.

This story will pull at your heart and bring about tears. There is so much that these two want and obstacles that they have to overcome including the Unseelie court.

It was nice to see Lady Lyssa, Jacob, Anwyn, Gideon, Wolf, and Elle. However I still dislike the Unseelie Queen.

This is the seventeenth book in the Vampire Queen Series and it will hook you in from the get go. It is an emotional rollercoaster that may have you reaching for some tissues. Adan is a special vampire who can work magic and has been through his share of tragedy for someone so young. Catriona is a Fae who has also been through her share of ups and downs. It is an enemy to lovers tale filled with loss, power, anger and superseding everything love. Ms. Hill’s writing style showcases the nuances between the characters and how they work to overcome the challenges they faced. There is so much packed into this storyline that make it one outstanding read.

This is a first for me, that is reading one of this authors books.
Yes, I know it's 17th in a series and I'm way behind but....when I focused just on our two main characters, I found I could follow along. I wish I started from the beginning because I love the other characters that obviously were parts of other books.
Well done! The author has an alluring way of drawing you in to watch the story play out before you as if you were there watching it. That alone is a win win for me.
Everything fell in place and I loved the story.
Now I just need to find the cash and the time to start from the beginning because I think this is a series I can definitely sink my teeth into.

Heartbreaking and Uplifting!

You out did yourself with this book Joey W. Hill! The story of Catriona and Adam was beautifully written! I cried alot reading this book. It was a modern version of Romeo and Juliet with a better outcome. I loved all my favorite characters in this story. Your books have gotten me thru my darkest off times when the darkness nearly won. Your books have pulled me back from that edge. They are so full of love, compassion and empathy. You are an amazing storyteller. I always feel apart of your books. Thank you for your gift of writing you share with us! A must read!

Enjoyed seeing Adan and Catriona's story. The magic was a huge part of this one which kind of dragged for me since I've read all her previous books. Her tree Fae magic, his magic, the island magic...and more besides. I found all the detailed explanations became tedious that's why I gave it one minus star.. .and minus one as well because the hotness factor seemed not as steamy at all. The BDSM which has always been a part of this series was nearly missing entirely. Maybe it was their ages or the subject matter but this one just didn't connect with me like Uthe's and Keldwyn's story (which is a heavy re-read for me) or even Wolf and Ella's (the last book in this series.

What a gorgeous book! Written with Joey's trademark wisdom and tenderness, Vampire Guardian brings together a wonderful grouping of so many favourite characters from this series. It is an intense, sensual story which captivates the heart and mind and weaves its magic, just as magic is woven in the hands of Adan. The ethereal beauty and delicacy of Catriona belies her strength. Together they soar, though there is much to endure along their path.
This book is so richly plotted that immersion is inevitable. Coming up for air is unlikely, so equip yourself with supplies, find a special place to curl up, and relish every single well chosen word. Absolutely fabulous 💖💖💖💖💖🧡💛💚💙💜

Adan and Catronia’s love is what movies are made of!!

Adan and Catronia have to over come and fight so major obstacles to get their HEA but it is a beautiful and amazing love story. It has left me in a book coma jonesing for another Vampire Queen story. Joey Hill writes amazing characters, settings, and storylines you know that any of her books are awesome. If you love, vampires, fae, amazing love stories this is the book for you.

By the end of the first chapter, I knew this would be a 5 star read.

It's everything I want in a paranormal romance with actual world-building and interesting & diverse set of characters. I am definitely looking forward to reading more of this world and how the different races interact in the other books/series by this author.

I realize this book is erotica but I don't care for bdsm so even though it is written well, I could do with a little less smut.

Even though this is one of her longer books I was saddened when I got to its quick ending because I was hoping for so much more.
The addition of intricate magic into Joey's World was well done even though it wasn't the main focus. I look forward to more about this vampire family as they are interesting characters in her unique world.
