And with that, the series is complete. This finale was everything I hoped it would be: funny, charming, romantic, sweet, and topped off with a heavy helping of all the domestic bliss these two cuties deserve. ♥ I think it's safe to say this has become a new all-time favorite series of mine, and might have even become my favorite manga of all time. The entire series is a funny, sweet, cozy hug and I'm so happy I took a chance on this bizarrely perfect love story.

Lovely ending to a beautiful series with the wedding of Natori and Asako (and that epilogue omg!)

Rarely do I read stories where we see the couple actually go through their relationship from the beginning. This was such a great portrayal of a healthy partnership and I can’t wait to see what the mangaka has in store for us next.

As sad as I am to say goodbye to these characters, this ending was so satisfying, that I couldn't have been happier. I truly loved Asako and Natori's story, and seeing how they built their healthy relationship together. I hope with all of my heart we get more translations from this mangaka in the future, because believe you me, I will be reading ALL OF THEM!!!!!

Having sweated every sweat and soaped every soap, Asako and Kotaro have finally arrived at the big day. First came love, then came marriage… but what exactly does the future have in store for these two?

When Sweat & Soap started it was an absolute breath of fresh air - a story of two people coming together as a couple and having an appreciably healthy, fetish-forward sex life, and all the stages of a relationship.

If anything, the series portrayed this a little too well - showing that, as oft happens, once the newness is over, most relationships trend toward taking a more simmering approach with occasional fanning necessary to get the heat back to previous levels.

Still, through crises both serious and silly, Asako and Kotaro have triumphed and gotten married and this is basically a victory lap as they celebrate with all the characters who helped make this story what it was.

And it does it well. There are some very lovely moments here and even as somebody who is not one for ceremony, this shows the joy inherent in such an event quite satisfactorily. The sequence featuring Kotaro’s mother in particular is a real highlight and definitely causes dust to get in one’s eyes. It’s a very real moment.

The wedding proper is definitely a mostly serious affair, but prefaced by a lot of opportunity to see how close our leads have become. The bridalwear at this volume’s opening is quite fun and the shaving sequence starts off with some of the best eye acting I’ve seen in a book of late.

For a glimpse to where the future goes, the bonus ending is perfectly fine and very full of warm sentiment. As I kind of groused about before, it’s not what I would have chosen, but I do admit that I was projecting a little in my desire to see a less ‘societally perfect’ couple and the finale does make sense for the two of them.

(I will say that the final moments have an odd focus on Kintaro and another character that kind of sideline Asako in a strange way.)

As far as one last hurrah with all your typical characters, it might have been nice to see a little more for some of the more important side characters (a couple definitely have their moments), but the focus is ultimately on our main couple where it admittedly should be.

5 stars - I won’t say every volume of this was a triumph, especially as it eschewed sex for stability and the traditional family unit towards the end, but it was a pretty good journey with a solid sendoff that was well worth taking, so I’ll be very generous with this final scoring.

A farewell to the best couple in manga!

This is it. The big moment is here. You can probably tell by the cover. This series doesn't try to sway you or throw a big "twist" in there. It's a story about two people falling in love and working through any issues together. It's really well done, and the last volume is the cherry on top with a tiny timeskip in the bonus chapters.

I really enjoyed this volume. I read it as slow as possible because I didn't want to say goodbye. There's a lot of happy moments, one tear jerking moment with a certain mother, and the last few pages are a freaking DELIGHT. Overall, probably one of my favorite romance books, comic, manga, or nvoel, ever.

A 5 out of 5.

I can't believe I've reached the end. What a beautiful journey. I miss these two already but I am glad that I've picked this series up. Even though, I was apprehensive at first and took my sweet time with this manga, I definitely don't have any regrets. The initial premise of the beginning definitely only works in a manga but the story is just so sweet and wholesome. I will gladly return to these characters and read the story again.

The end is here!

I'm both sad and so happy for these characters. They went through so much to be together and faced so many internal fears and hurt to be together and grow together. Although the relationship was very quickly paced, we saw massive growth and we experienced a bunch of emotions.

While not perfect (I think I'd give this series a solid four stars overall), I really enjoyed these characters. I loved their moments of vulnerability, but I also loved seeing them growing more at ease with each other. The little instances of comfort between them (like Kotaro putting his arm around Asako while he's on the floor and she's sitting in the chair, or them just knowing when something is up with the other) made me want to ugly cry into the pages of this series.

I did enjoy seeing what a wedding in Japan might look like and the process of getting it all set up. I also liked seeing the wrapping up of various storylines that were briefly introduced on the side. I do wish Asako got to face her childhood bully again, but that's just my vindictive side.

Also, that epilogue!!!!

I'd recommend this manga series to anyone who wants a sweet and perhaps weird slice of life short romance. This would also be a great manga to binge during summer break!

Happy reading!

I had to hold back tears soooo many times reading this volume, damn the feels were too much!

Final thoughts on this series: this series took me by surprise by how healthy and mature the relationship was despite how it started. Not only that, but the drama and problems that came about were also handled maturely and realistically, as opposed to the adults acting like teenagers in grown-up bodies. I am sad that it is over and admittedly the final few chapters felt like it was speedrunning its story, I still loved the series as a whole. I can't properly articulate how wonderful and satisfying it is to read a healthy, wholesome, mature adult romance manga (or romance in general, to be honest). And now I can safely say that any romance manga that comes after this has no excuse for being toxic or thriving off of contrived drama and misunderstandings. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great romance between two precious cinnamon rolls that is healthy, happy, and incredibly sweet. Do not pass this up, it is well worth your time.

Following around these characters was so fun. I could read this manga series over and over and never get sick of it. I laughed, I cried, I was angry. But in the end I was rooting for them both and I wish this series just kept going but I can see how it ended perfectly. I hope the author comes out with a bind up some day or a box set even. Please pick up this series if you're undecided you shouldn't be.

4/5 🌟

The basic premise of this manga is about an office girl, who has deep insecurity about her sweating problem, meeting the product developer guy in her company, who's responsible for creating the soap that she loves, and their first encounter was him asking her permission to smell her because his scene gives him an inspiration for the next soap project. I know, I know. This sounds so weird and creepy because who would want a stranger to sniff you in spare time? But dang, this doesn't deter me from loving this manga a lot!

The smelling fetish isn't as bad as it seems, in my opinion, and I think that aspect helps a lot in the romantic development between Asako and Kotaro. This manga is such a comfort read, to be honest. If you want a couple in a mature age with a healthy relationship and communicates pretty well with each other to make their relationship works, this manga can give you exactly that. No unnecessary misunderstandings. The conflicts were never dragged on just for the sake of having something to solve. They worked through their relationship like an adult that they are.

Reading this is such a stress reliever, to be honest. It also has a perfect amount of comedy and sometimes I found myself laughing out loud. I remember laughing at how adorable Asako's father was, a middle-aged man who gets flustered easily in things like meeting his son-in-law for the first time. All the side characters are so likeable either and all their friends are worthy of them. Such a fun group of people.

This has an early romance so the romantic development really started after they got together in the first few chapters. It's also a fast read and can be read in one to two seating, utmost. I felt so satisfied when I finished reading and even stared at the wedding photo cover of the last volume for a few minutes to appreciate this manga for the last time. I also loved the fact that every volume cover has a 'behind the scene' shown at the end of every volume and it's so much fun to see! I highly recommend this manga so much!

As the cover shows, we coast off into happily-ever-after land with a big wedding that brings back most of the cast of the entire series for at least a cameo. It's a very pleasant . . . and way better than actually going to a real wedding.

Overall, a very nice series about people in their twenties with quirks and anxieties managing to find true love. The drama is subdued and adult, just like the sex scenes. It's a refreshing change of pace from all the high school romance that floods the manga shelves.

BITCH ITS BEEN A #JOURNEY

the last scene where he gave their kid a soap to smell and she said it was sparkly… because he described asako’s scent as a sparkle when they first met… i’m devastated.

ok but review overall; this was (to me) the perfect ratio of everything. funny, romantic, sweet, sentimental, serious… i never read anything about a smell fetish but i appreciate how unique it made the story. lol. i definitely didn’t think the series would unfold or be fleshed out the way it did so i’m grateful. and i heart the cast sm like it’s actually horrible that i can’t know any of them irl
