Nightwolf

Rate this book
My name is Amethyst DeMille and I’m in love with a vampire.
Sounds complicated, doesn’t it?
Yet the fact that he’s a sexy, centuries-old blood-drinking vampire isn’t what makes our relationship complicated.
It’s because we live in the same house together, work at the same exclusive club together, and he happens to be my best friend with absolutely no idea how I feel about him.
I mean, sure he’s probably seen me give him heart eyes more than once. Wolf is not only a deadly, charismatic vampire with great persuasion skills, he also happens to be built like a Nordic God, all solid muscle and chiseled bone structure and haunting eyes that I sometimes think tell me more than he wants me to know. He’s the type of guy most women find themselves falling for (and not just because they might end up his next meal).
But despite the simmering sexual tension and yearning between us, I know there’s no way I’ll ever be able to tell him how I feel. After all, I’m a human and he’s a vampire and he’s told me more than once that those love stories never end well.
Too bad my heart doesn’t know the difference.

"You already are something. Frankly, you´re everything."
"To the world?" she whispers, meeting my eyes.
"To me." I tell her. "You´re everything to me. Fuck the world. They don´t matter"

A lovestory about a vampire named Wolf? Iconic.
This is a two POV book with the POV´s of Wolf and Amethyst.

First of all I have to say that the plotline for this was really good. I loved the idea of the story, the classic Twilight joke was in it and I really liked the plot twist which I didn´t see coming at all.
The ghost stuff in this was a little bit creepy for me but it was really essential to the plot.

The romance in this was really sweet, we have a friends to lovers trope and with it a more insta-lovish vibe. Wolf really is a true gentleman in the streets and a beast in the sheets. The dirty talk in this was good. Let me tell you, that hot tub scene, god damn.

I liked the pacing, although some times felt a tad bit rushed for me and I think I would have loved for this to be a series.

Overall it was a really nice read that made all the emotions come out for me. Some parts almost made me cry but I really enjoyed reading it.

trigger warnings: grief, loss of a loved one and a lot of blood (to be expected with vampires I think)

’She brought the world light. I brought the world death. Together, we were moonlight and shadows.’

maybe it’s my fault. my expectations were too high.

this review is from someone who waited months for this book. i loved amethyst and wolf from black sunshine and immediately wondered if they’d get their own story. at that time, i thought it’d be so interesting.
a vampire and a human,
throw in the friends to lovers trope,
unrequited love with incredible angst,
the possibility of them not ending up together.

i had my theories & expectations diving into this book. unfortunately, they weren’t met. i’m just gonna get to the aspects that bothered me in this book and stop rambling.
!!!(spoilers ahead. don’t scroll further if you’re planning on reading this book.)!!!

· i don’t know if i’m the only one that wanted amethyst to have a supernatural power of some sort. when she started seeing a ‘ghost’ at night, i thought that maybe she sees ghosts, maybe she’ll get possessed, my mind was on full speed because i was hoping the story takes that route. OR, you know, her father had disappeared when she was very young so i had my predictions that she might not be a human after all. none of what i was anticipating happened, in its place was something very underwhelming.

· when you are reading and loving the MCs so much, you want them to have the perfect first kiss, in a perfect setting. i want these little details, is it just me? it might be… anyways, when they got together, i didn’t like how it happened. it was so rushed, happened too quickly, i didn’t get to enjoy any of their scenes together. none of them were memorable or left some sort of an effect on me…
this makes me just upset.

· amethyst and wolf were so different in this book. it didn’t feel like i was reading the characters that i loved in dark eyes duet.

· i don’t mind the heroine dropping the L word before the hero, i’m completely fine with that. just don’t get rid of your humanity and turn yourself to a vampire for someone who broke up with you four days after your mother’s passing and didn’t say i love you back until during said break up. maybe i’m nitpicking at this point but i’m not gonna lie and say it didn’t bother me because wolf frustrated me in that scene.

· when reading a story with a human in love with a vampire, it is important how that human will become a vampire later on - if that happens to be the case. the way it was handled here was so chaotic and messy that i just want this whole scene to be replaced. if you’re gonna turn her to a vampire, make a big deal out of it! poor solon in that scene:

in black sunshine, when lenore was turning into a vampire, it was much better written and done than what went down in nightwolf.

· in my opinion, this book should’ve been longer. they get together in chapter 7. bam, amethyst’s mother is hospitalized. bam, they break up. bam, she turns into a vampire. bam, they get back together. twenty two chapters were too little for such a story. if the book was longer, if it were a slow burn…✨

scenes of solon (he's still hot) and lenore, him calling her moonshine, ezra’s humor; those scenes i really loved and enjoyed.

honestly, i really hoped for this to be a five star read. i was looking forward to this release and to get my hands on this book for so long but again, you win some you lose some.

"You are everything. You are the moon and the sun and the stars and all the light in my life, and you banish this darkness and you reveal the shadows"

If you want a friends-to-lovers with a vampire twist then this book is perfect for you.

Nightwolf follows Amethyst DeMille a human who lives with and works in an exclusive club with Wolf, a centuries old vampire. They have been wanted each other for so long but have only been friends due to the fact that Amethyst is human and Wolf is vampire. Everyone knows that if they got together it would never end well. But the tension and yearning they have for each other is stronger than ever, will they give in to their feelings or continue to deny themselves the love they have for each other.

WOW this book. I went in thinking this was going to be a cute and spicy romance but my god it pulled at my heart strings and I did cry a few times. The tension between Amethyst and Wolf was EVERYTHING and the spicy scenes were written so well. I definitely recommend this book.

*Thank you to the author and Valentine PR for an ARC of this title*

Nightwolf by Karina Halle was a beautiful, brave, and heartbreaking friends to lovers, vampire romance that takes place during a personal tragedy. I was enthralled the whole way through, and though I had to put it down a few times just to breathe and center myself. I loved what was being shared by the author in such an honest and painful way.

Nightwolf can be read as a standalone or as book 3 in the Dark Eyes series. It takes place after the events of The Blood is Love and we get to see our beloved characters at the Dark Eyes club. So if you plan to read those books, it might be wise to read them before Nightwolf.

Wolf is a vampire and Amethyst is a human who works at the Dark Eyes club. A club where humans come to voluntarily be fed from and vampires come to partake. They have been friends for awhile and have some mutual pining going on. So much in fact, that their friends want them to just make a go of it and get it over with. There are risks to this however, one being that Wolf is afraid of letting go completely and possibly hurting Amethyst and the other is that they are bound to end in tragedy since she is human and he would lose her eventually.

They are still in the middle of coming to terms with their feelings when a disaster strikes. A disaster so heartbreaking that it could change who they are to each other forever. I don't want to spoil what that is and I do promise that there is an HEA for them at the end.

One thing I will say is that there is shades of the authors own personal tragedy littered throughout this book, as there are with many creators when they go through struggles in life and I found that to be beautiful and cathartic to read. I have been through some of the exact situations depicted in this book, and they burn in ways you cannot imagine, unless you have lived them yourself.

On a romance note. This one was epic, in ways only vampire romances can be. The chemistry was 5 alarm fire level and I was so into this couple. I don't know if I've ever read another friends to lovers with vampires before, so this was very unique.

5/5 stars (scroll far down for TW as they are spoilers in some regards)

"I'm falling for her at a time when I've never been so lost. She is the light, she is the moon in the darkness of my soul and I am reaching for her, trying to grab hold."

5 I cried my eyes out stars 😭⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wolf and Amethyst's story tore me wide open and I don't know how to put myself back together again 😭
The book starts with these two beautiful souls whom I adored from The Dark Eyes duet, Wolf a vampire and Amethyst a human. They work together, they're crazy about each other, but they know they have no future because of their different situations.
They tried to deny it, and let me tell you, when they finally decided to give it a chance it was dynamite 🔥🔥
Really, I saw fireworks exploding in my living room, *that* explosive 🔥😍

But then (without spoilers), a tragedy happens and both of them need to face a pain so deep I had to keep a tissue box at hand, I cried so much.
Karina wrote these two from such a visceral, real place and the emotions and trauma are all there for the reader to experience with her.
It was heartbreaking and soul-wrenching, but I absolutely loved that they always had each other, even from afar.

"Make me hurt. Just make me feel something other than what I've been feeling." -Amethyst

Seriously, this book is too much in all the best ways, and I loved that Wolf and Amethyst got the wonderful story they deserved ❤️

"Once I feed from you, I'll want nothing else. No one else." I pause, licking my lips. "You'll be mine, mine to claim, mine to f**8k. Mine forever."

OMG. This was amazing. Just the perfect blend of supernatural, sexy and sentimental. Amethyst and Wolf have been “just friends” for a long time, but have always been circling each other. I knew I would love Amethyst and Wolf together, but I didn’t realize how much! These two are fire together!

After learning their back stories, never are two people more deserving of love that lasts. But Amethyst’s humanity makes her forever significantly shorter than Wolfs.

The irony of Wolf’s Halloween costume was not lost on me as there are a lot of similarities to their situation … a vampire that pushes away a mortal girl. Minus the sparkles, of course.

Despite all the supernatural elements, this boils down to love story about two people afraid to open their hearts because they have loved and lost before. It’s the kind of bravery that no amount of superhuman strength can help you with. They learn the universal truth that loss and love go hand, you can’t have one without the other. Those vampires are deep, I tell you!

While this can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone, you will get so much more out of it if you’ve read the Dark Eyes duet, which is also terrific.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from Valentine PR and these are my honest opinions.

While I enjoyed Karina Halle’s Dark Eyes duet, my main feeling when I finished reading was that I wanted more of Wolf and Amethyst. Fortunately, Nightwolf was there to fill the gap. I had high hopes for this one, and happily devoured it in a single sitting.

Although I enjoyed Nightwolf and appreciated the private emotions the author filled the page with, it was not the story I had expected. That is not to say it was bad, I had simply been wanting more. It was a real story, an addictive story, but I feel it was a little too easy considering all the drama I had anticipated for the duo. It was a story that focused more of the emotional side of it, allowing the paranormal to fall to the side somewhat. Again, not a bad thing, yet not quite what I had wanted. I think this is just one of those cases where my desire for more, my high expectations, had me wishing the story had involved more than it did. As I said, I enjoyed it, it just wasn’t quite enough for me considering the love I felt for the characters.

All in all, fans of Wolf and Amethyst in the Dark Eyes duet certainly need to give this one a read. It’s not the story you’d expect for them, but it does give you the fix you need.

Nightwolf is a contemporary vampire romance and is a spin-off of The Dark Eyes Duet (Black Sunshine and Blood is Love). It can definitely be read as a stand-alone but if you plan to read as a series for that full experience, definitely read this book after The Dark Eyes Duet.

Wolf is a centuries-old vampire living in San Francisco with his fellow vampire pals. Together they work/run an exclusive club, Dark Eyes, that caters to vampires. Amethyst and her mother Yvonne, both humans, have been living in the same house and working alongside the vampires for 8 years. Amethyst and Wolf have this delicious “just friends” relationship, they both kind of dance around their feelings for one another but it’s always lingering there. Wolf has always felt possessive over Amethyst but because of her human mortality and forever being warned that humans and vampire relationships don’t end well, he hasn’t acted on his feelings. The other residents of the house are just ready for Amethyst and Wolf to either make a move or get over one another, so they end up sending them on a getaway together…where things heat up in a hot tub. 🔥

I really love this atmospheric, dark world that Karina Halle has created. I loved seeing Lenore and Solon, Ezra, and all the side characters from the series in this one. I was surprised how emotional this book was and how heavy the story got, in a good way as it was really beautifully done. This one does have less plot/big things happening and is definitely more character-driven which I thought really for this couple. Wolf and Amethyst both had issues to work through on their own to be able to come together and I liked seeing how their relationship played out.

Thank you to Valentine PR for an e-ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts & review. Nightwolf is out November 22, 2021.

I am so excited for this book, it's a dark vampire romance. The world this book is set in is one I've visited before and loved. The story is raw and real. It's message is beautiful and I found myself not only caught up in Wolf and Amethyst's love story, but also their journey to one another. It's a story that'll sink itself into you.

Kudos to Karina Halle for such a haunting story. She never fails to deliver with magnificent writing and characters. I loved seeing Lenore, Solon, Ezra, and Dracula again. I really can not wait for Dracula's book!

I was so excited for this spin off, this story is about Wolf and Amethyst who were side characters in the dark eyes duet. If you plan on reading black sunshine and the blood is love, read those first. But if you do not plan on reading those two (which you should it’s so good as well) you won’t be lost starting here. It’ll spoil the previous book.

This was a friends to lovers, amethyst is a human who has been living in the same house and working with wolf, a vampire, for 8 years. In the previous books you can see that they’re best friends but have a clear tension/longing for one another. This books follows wolf and amethyst trying to figure out how their deep for one another can manifest, since amethyst will eventually grow old and die while wolf stays immortal. It’s a forbidden love with so much passion and sexy intimacy and I loved reading about them. Karina Halle herself has also been going through a lot of difficult family grief/issues while writing this book and I could feel it while reading it. She definitely poured her grief into this and I felt it. It was all the steamy vampire bloody goodness i wanted and it had the undying love and dark story I love in this series. 3.5 spice, defs reccomend!

not a fan of all the human family drama in this one, but the sex scenes and romance still held up. i cried SIX. DIFFERENT. TIMES. (also the epilogue had my most hated trope so i cannottt justify giving it 5 stars lol)

I really enjoyed the first two books in this "series" and I was intrigued by Wolf and Amethyst. I was wondering how these two would even work.

Amethyst has "secretly" been in love with Wolf since she first came to the house so imagine her surprise when Wolf starts to pursue her!

I have to say that I was surprised about Wolf's emotions and how he dealt with them. And I was equally shocked at what he did later on in the book.

The author is dealing with her own grief and I felt like I could see some of it sprinkled throughout. There are some really sad scenes.

Bottom line - I enjoyed these two but I'm not sure they quite pulled it off, however, I was happy with the epilogue. I only wished we could've had more Wolf and Amethyst. Shelter Cove was the best part.

Next up is Dracula's (ugh) book, King of Darkness (release date pushed back from February 3, 2022 as listed.) Not that I'm not interested in his book but I really want Ezra's book!!

Nightwolf gave me all the feels! Well written, with intriguing characters and a suspenseful storyline. Ever since reading Black Sunshine I wanted to know more about Wolf and Amethyst and Karina delivered big time. The story is filled with danger, mystery, romance and scorching hot sexy scenes. I loved how Wolf could be both sweet and easy-going but also dark and dangerous when the situation required it. His protectiveness towards Amethyst warmed my heart. And she's the type of woman that even in her fear is as strong as she can be. The push and pull between them, the constant banter, the sweet moments and the steamy encounters, made this story a real treat. This book was a thrillingly, dark, haunting and exhilarating ride that kept me constantly on the edge of my seat. Definitely a must-read for everyone who enjoys PRN romance.

A sexy, vampire, friend-to-lovers story, with all the feels.

In the Dark Eyes Duet we were introduced to Wolf and Amethyst. Wolf is a vampire friend and housemate of the duet’s hero, Solon, and Amethyst is the human who also lives in their house, and who works as the Manager for Dark Eyes, the club that runs in the basement. In the original duet, we could see something simmering between the two friends, and I was so happy to finally get their story.

Note - I would not recommend reading this book without reading the Dark Eyes Duet. There’s a lot of world building in the first book, and though this one does give you some explanation, there’s a lot that it skims over. This book is also hella spoilery for the duet, so do yourself a favour and start with those ones first.

Wolf and Amethyst are the best of friends, but they have loved each other from afar for years. They both know it, and they quietly acknowledge it, but they’ve never discussed it with each other and have never allowed themselves to explore it, knowing that a vampire and a human cannot have a happy ever after. But a few days away with forced proximity sees their walls swiftly crumble, with the two of them both realising that they can’t hold back from each other any longer, and holy freaking hotness!

Yeah, there’s something happening between us. I don’t think we can stop it, even if we wanted to.

Karina Halle writes seriously sexy romance, and the passion between these two is off the charts! Their chemistry absolutely sizzles, and when all of those pent-up feelings are finally released, they bare all, diving in to explore all of that mad lust and emotion, and I loved seeing them finally find their way to each other.

“You’re mine,” I say to her, my voice hoarse, the rest of me vulnerable and raw. It’s not a question, it’s a statement.
“Promise?”

But right when happiness is within their grasp, tragedy strikes, throwing them both spiralling. Fear and grief are crippling, and their lives will never be the same, and there is a lot of emotion, soul-searching and drama for them to work through to find their way through it all.

Halle wrote this book coming out of her own personal tragedy, and you can feel her pouring out her soul onto the pages of this book. It’s truly heartwrenching, but it’s so real, and that’s what makes it all the more painful to read. It’s definitely not the story I thought we’d get in this book, and though there are moments of lightness, humour, and supernatural elements, this is a very different story to the first books, with a whole lot of drama and emotion. It’s written beautifully though, and through it all, the romance shines, and I loved seeing Wolf and Amethyst go through so much and still find their happy.

“You’ve always been the one. Always. Even before I met you, you have been the one, the one I’ve been searching for centuries for.”

I wouldn’t say I ‘enjoyed’ this book, because it’s just not that kind of story, but I’m sure you get what I mean. It’s beautifully written, engaging, full of soul-searing emotion, and a great story for Wolf and Amethyst. Characters from the previous books also appear - I loved seeing Solon and Lenore again, and I’m so excited that Dracula is getting his own book, up next.

3.5 stars.

I love Karina Halle's books! They are so modern and even a Vampire has to have style! I read the first book of this series and it is a delight to read about Amethyst and Wolf. It is a love vampire story with lots of twists and above all sexy times between Amethyst and Wolf. The best thing is the writing since Karina Halle is a master of character development and there is suspense, romance and a lot of sorrow.
It is impossible not to feel these characters and the book is so great!
I just loved it!

Okay this was everything I wished Black Sunshine was. Definitely my favorite from Karina this year. It was so emotional and heavy, but one of the best friends to lovers I’ve ever read. I loved that the plot was simple, really focusing on the love story instead of the world around them.

Amethyst and Wolf.
My hearts swoons and my heart broke throughout this love story.
If you follow the author Karina Halle on any social media platform, You might have known that her father and her brother passed away very close one after the other. And the grief is still very present with her. And I don’t know if she used writing this book as some sort of therapy, but her grief absolutely bleeds through this love story between Amethyst, a human; Wolf, a vampire.
This is a friends to lovers romance trope.
It’s full of angst and a second chance at love.

Amethyst Demille and her mother who are very close with one another, work at the same exclusive club together and they also live together with these vampires. She definitely feels privileged to know there’s more to life than just mere humans and she does not take that for granted. Her and Wolf have always been friends but never took it further because vampire and human relations never end well.
You see, Wolf knows that falling in love with a human would end in nothing but tragedy. He would stay basically immortal while watching his loved one wither away due to age. It’ll never be fair. And you can’t just turn a human into a vampire. It goes against all the rules for one.

When they finally take a trip to take a break from the mansion and work, they both realize that they’ve been having the same nightmare. They have both witnessed a ghost bleeding from a horrible head injury walking around scaring the shit out of them. They don’t know what this ghost is trying to tell them. But they have a feeling that it’s not good.
Tragedies do hit in this story. It’s very emotional. And we do see how Wolfs past makes him hesitant to ever fall in love.
But these two do. They fall in love. But it’s not easy. Through grief and secrets - this is one extremely compelling story of sacrifice all in the name of love for eternity.

She brought the world light. I brought the world death. Together, we were moonlight and shadows.

Nightwolf is a book that I wasn't expecting emotionally. It's a spinoff of the Dark Eyes series but can 100% be read as a standalone. It includes two characters (Wolf and Amethyst) that come from very different backgrounds and they must learn how to navigate their friendship. Their story is unique, beautiful and emotional. I've loved these characters that were introduced in previous books, but I knew it was going to be a difficult journey for them.

Amethyst is a mortal human and has worked for the vampires in their home along with her mother for a few years. She loves her job, the friends she has made and feels safe in their world. Which is an oxymoron since humans should never feel safe in the presence of vampires. But she does and wouldn't change it for the world. Wolf is a centuries year old vampire that has seen a lot of loss in his lifetime. He doesn't give himself up easily, but he cares fiercely. He and Amethyst have a deep connection and their attraction is obvious. But is there more between the two? Can and will they act on it??

I like to call Karina Halle the queen of prologues. She kills me with the emotions each time. And even in this more brutal prologue set hundreds of years ago, I felt a sense of dread and foreshadow of what she was going to put us through. And boy, did she put us through everything! We got to feel a part of a family, the abundance of love and lust and a dang roller coaster of emotions. One minute it was creepy and scary, the next minute it was sexy AF, and the next minute you are trying to drown in your emotions. Case in point....my favorite chapters...14 and 15 (along with chapter 7 and that hot tub....yowza). All for very different reasons.

While this is a vampire book and a friends to lovers story, it is so much more. It's a story of love, life and loss and living with your decisions for a lifetime. And a lifetime can look very different to a human and vampire. I loved this book and the journey Amethyst and Wolf experienced from page 1 until the end. It wasn't easy and it was obvious that Ms Halle poured her soul into their story with the loss and angst. AND I felt those emotions come through the characters and their actions very strongly. Their emotions were so vividly represented that I could see this story play out right in front of me. I'm addicted to this vampire world, even when it isn't as bloody and filled with action as I would've originally thought.

Overall, this was a captivating story of friendship, family, love and life and I can't wait for more standalones in this world. Give me all the characters and their HEAs! 4.5 stars.

description

- 3.5 stars -

Nightwolf was a steamy and at times very emotional friends-to-lovers paranormal romance. I enjoyed this book and I thought it had a great flow and was written well. Karina Halle is one of my all time favorite authors and a very talented one. I really enjoyed seeing the main characters' Wolf and Amethyst friendship turn into love. The sex scenes were very steamy (seriously they were HOT!). I was expecting this book the be more on the lighter side, but Karina had me already tearing up in the beginning of the book.

There were ups and downs for the characters and I thought they resolved their issues pretty well. I really liked them as individuals and as a couple. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys steamy (and emotional) paranormal romances. I do have to say that I would've loved more paranormal activities, a little bit of action or suspense added to the story. I think that would've elevated the story. Nightwolf can be read as a stand-alone however I think you’ll enjoy this book more and have a stronger bond to the characters if you have read the Dark Eyes duet, where they are first introduced. However, I still enjoyed it and hope that Karina will write more books in this genre.

I don't know what to say, it's just...I literally looooved this book. I read it for less than a day and it was everything that I wanted. We have a sexy vampire, a human that is completely fallen in love with him and lots of steamy scenes 🔥🔥🔥.

I do admit, I have not read the previous books from the series about Lenore and Solon. But I will wait a bit before I start reading them, because i stumbled on some reviews (yeah, I know... bad, bad move 😂) and I have to set up my mind for a particular part within the book.

I am soo happy that Karina Hale was emphasized entirely on the couple. To their feeling towards each other, the love that finally blossomed, to their steamy scenes and especially on the ending of the book, which was soo cute.

I am also glad that there wasn't ow/om drama within the book and not a lot of tug and pull between the main characters.

I loved Amethyst and Wolf and I am definately in love with both of them ❤️❤️❤️.

I received an ARC from Valentine PR about my honest review and I am really thankful that I had the chance to read Wolf and Amethyst story.

Nightwolf by Karina Halle is a vampire and human, friends-to-lover, paranormal romance. This steamy and emotion-packed vampire love story took a bite out of my heart. I didn’t expect to feel emotional about this unusual relationship. Color me surprised! I don’t read too many paranormal/supernatural romances, but I decided to mix things up. I have enjoyed Karina’s books in the past, but never read any of her paranormal romances. I have been missing out BIG TIME!   Nightwolf is a spinoff from the Dark Eyes Duet. I wish I had the time to read the Dark Eyes Duet before starting this book since I enjoyed Nightwolf so much, but you definitely can read Nightwolf as a standalone.

Karina Halle has been my go to for paranormal books this last year between Black Shine & Blood is Love we got tiny glimpse of Wolf and Amethyst.

This story is so real and I got so lost within it. I absolutely enjoyed every single moment of this. This book had moments were I was tearing up and moments when I was swooning. This book got me so in my feelings.

I cannot thank Karina Halle enough for making me fall for vampires again. This series is going from epic to more epic! Nightwolf was full of heartbreaking emotions and I could feel the author pouring her heart out in every page. Poignant. Angsty. Sensual. The beauty of paranormal romance came out in full force here.
.
Amethyst Demille has stumbled upon Dark Eyes, an exclusive club and special feeding ground for vampires with her friends who volunteer here. And she became their bartender and started living in the old building with her mother. She was always fascinated with Wolf, a partner of Solon Stavig who runs the business. But Wolf is not sure if he should or rather, could reciprocate her attraction because he is a vampire and Amethyst is a human.
.
This story brought back my eighteen year old Twilight obsessed phase but in a bigger and better way. Because Wolf and Amethyst are much more complex. Wolf has seen death and loss closely and he is scared to feel and then lose Amethyst because he cannot survive that. He is possessive, protective, sinfully alpha and super charismatic in his own vampire ways! Swoon and sin alert! Amethyst is an absolutely amazing character. She has a side of fearlessness, crazy stubbornness and fierce determination. After all, it takes guts to stay so close with creatures who can kill her and yet she loves them openly and unconditionally. She has a really big emotional heart. She loves deeply and fiercely. She will be going through so much pain and grief and her tenacity just astonished me. She sure could love without hesitation and is more resilient than an old vampire. This back and forth between Wolf and Amethyst brought the flood of angst. And the author beautifully brought out their craving, their desperation and their gut wrenching feels. It was definitely steamy with delicious filthy chemistry. I was blushing hard and I still needed more. It was a rollercoaster and I wasn't sure I would be able to get down without getting hurt. I stopped breathing a few second at one certain crucial twist! This story digs deep into the dark beauty of death, loss, love and hope and I am so in love with the writing.
.
Nightwolf by Karina Halle got my heart pumping so fast and beating so wild while drowing in drama, passion and swoonworthy feels.

A huge thank you to the author and Valentine PR for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

4.5🌟 4🌶

This is probably one of my faves from Karina so far! I’ve been desperate for this book ever since I met Amethyst and Wolf in Black Sunshine and I just loved how my expectations were exceed! I could see how much heart Karina poured into this book and it’s been such an honor to have read it.

Along with the stunning cover, Nightwolf had everything I ever wanted and more! The very swoony and steamy friends to lovers romance was so captivating. I loved getting to know Amethyst and Wolf more individually from their backstories and present situations and eventually, seeing them come into terms with their relationship and accepting the love they deserve. The smut was SO GOOD. I love how they just jump right into them and they’re written so well that I savor each scene

The creepy and eerie scenes gave me that bit of horror side plot that I’ve wanted to read about since Halloween. They gave me a lot of The Haunting of Hill House vibes. The heartbreaking moments surprised me the most and they were written with so much emotion that it was hard not to cry with the characters as they navigate through the topics of lost and grief. I think these were the scenes where Karina just went all out and I enjoyed that I got to understand even a kernel of what she went through in life through her writing.

I definitely missed Solon and Lenore when I read this and I was hoping we get more of them in the future especially with the events in the last chapter and the surprise trope apperance that I absolutely loved! I also enjoyed Ezra more in this and I’m curious if we’ll get his story someday. Dracula is one of those characters that became more interesting the more I got to know him so I’m excited for his book next.

I only wished the Mara sideplot was explored more because it was so intriguing when it started out and I felt that it was resolved so quickly but I did enjoy the shock factor it gave mid-story.

Overall, this book is perfect for lovers of paranormal romance that reads like a typical friends to lovers romance but with a vampire twist. I highly recommend reading the Dark Eyes duet before going into this!

Stars: ⭐ 4.0 ⭐

This time I will start review with the lyrics of one of the most beautiful songs out there: "Still Falling for You" by Ellie Goulding.
This is sooo them ❣️🥰❣️

"Fire and ice,
This love is like fire and ice.
This love is like rain and blue skies.
This love is like sun on the rise.
This love got me rolling the dice.
Don't let me lose!
Still falling for you...
Still falling for you...

Beautiful mind.
Your heart got a story with mine.
Your heart got me hurting at times.
Your heart gave me new kind of highs.
Your heart got me feeling so fine.
So what to do?
Still falling for you...
Still falling for you...

It took us a while!
With every breath a new day.
With love on the line.
We've had our share of mistakes.
But all your flaws and scars are mine!
Still falling for you...
Still falling for you...

And just like that...
All I breathe...
All I feel...
You are all for me!
All for me!"

Beautiful song for their story, isn't it?

5 “It’s Always Been You” Stars

This is Karina Halle’s masterpiece. I stand by my statement. Everything about this was near perfection. The friends to lovers, the darkness of the vampire world, the forbidden aspect of a human and vampire coming together. The love and the loss. Wolf goes down as top book boyfriends every. Amethyst is a bad ass woman who is curvy and spunky and I would be friends with her in real life. Hands down the best book I’ve read in the month of November.

And the spice. The SPICE. Holy hell. This will also go down as top spice books this month. I can’t wait for the next part which has to do with a certain very famous vampire we all know. But this? A masterpiece, perfection, made my heart ache and the fill with warmth. I hope I get to own this entire series one day because WOW.

How does KH manage to write so many books in this vein of the paranormal romance world and still have every book feel fresh and new? I definitely found that going into Nightwolf, a book I had been anticipating since Lenore and Solon’s books as Amethyst and Wolf are featured quite a bit. I love the interconnectedness of her books and the entire universe they belong to.

KH has the ability to write heart pounding romance and seriously scary scenes in the same books and this showcased that perfectly. I adored the. Building romance between Wolf and Amethyst, the delicate situation they find themselves in with Wolf being a vampire and Amethyst being human. The attraction is there and palpable between the two of them even when they know that they shouldn’t be together.

And this book has such a great family connection in it. I love Amethyst’s relationship with her mother and the way they interact. Her mother is a huge part of her life and it was great to see that show up on the page of Nightwolf. And, as always, I cannot wait to see what Karina Halle has in store for us next!
