For Love and Charity

How can she fake a relationship with a man she vehemently dislikes? Australian Nurse Laura Maxwell volunteers at a small hospital on the remote Pacific Island of Levati. Unfortunately, she doesn’t get on with the doctor in charge, which makes working in such close confines challenging. Doctor Marcus Bradley engineers for Nurse Maxwell to accompany him on a clinic run into the jungle, hoping enforced time together will help sort out their issues. But disaster strikes when they are kidnapped by rebel forces. The two of them must put aside their animosity if they are to survive. Dubbed “The Kidnap Couple” by the media in the frenzy that follows their eventual release, Marcus convinces Laura to continue their fake engagement for as long as the publicity helps raise much needed funds for the medical charity so close to his heart. Laura reluctantly agrees and everything snowballs. Media appearances and interviews, magazine shoots, speech after speech - anywhere and everywhere. There’s even a fundraising ball. As she slowly begins to get more comfortable in the limelight, she is shocked when Marcus blindsides her by pushing for a marriage of convenience. Yet another publicity grab for his precious charity! Where will it all end? All she really wants is her old life back, but somewhere along the way, the line between fake and reality starts to blur.

Beautiful story with stunning detail just like the first.

I was wary of Marcus at first, noticing what could have been red flags to a very controlling man. However I was relieved to find that he isn't that big of an asshole, just an everyday human struggling not to become a slave to corporate greed and deep brown eyes.

P.S. Alison, if you read this, I found the Charlie 😉
