I’m alone in the sea of my grief until I meet Zeke, a tornado of complications who leaves destruction in his wake. I fall hard and fast, despite all the warning signs.

Our love story is far from a fairy-tale. But if it hurts, then it’s real.

There’s a monster hiding beneath his tattooed skin, an addiction that will tear us apart. I can’t lose him, but I’m powerless to

FOREVER AGO Is a full length romance book by new to me author J. Rose. In this you'll meet Hallie Burns & Ezekiel Rhodes aka just Zeke. 'Spoken in dual perspectives'.

I’m sitting here after closing the last page with a snotty blocked nose and leaky eyes that won’t stop running! Go into this with tissues on the ready!

Hallie: is a twenty three year old, had just recently lost the only other person she could call her own, her dad passed away after the cancer claimed him leaving her all alo

Anyone that knows me, knows that I love books that come with warnings. Give me all the dark, violent, fucked up shit, the torturous angst, and morally bankrupt characters! Push my limits, and make me question my sanity. I'm here for it all!

Tell me emotions might leak out of my eyes though, and you'll have my ass running in the opposite direction! I realized quickly that this was going to be one of those books I typically react to like a vampire in the sun, but alas, I already agreed to read it

This book is going to stay with me for a long time. It was a very emotional, raw read and a personal one on top of it. This is Zekiel, aka Zeke and Hallie’s story. If you’re looking for flowers and unicorns; this book is not for you as the plot based on heavy subjects; take the trigger warning seriously.

Hallie and Zeke meet at grief group therapy; Hallie lost both her parents and, most recently, her father. Zeke lost his brother. Both are handling it in different ways. Zeke with handling with m

This is a story that hits you hard and fast, like a sucker punch to the gut that you feel in your heart  and didn't see coming. It's a fast-paced messy whirlwind of chaotic and emotional love. The suffocating grief that is absolute full circle for Hallie and Zeke. Their story is more about the journey than the ending destination. It's about the struggle between right and wrong, living and dying, love and addiction, and oh man, does it fucking hurt. You can feel the

As I stare at a blank screen blurred with tears trying to come up with the perfect words to begin this review for this heartbreakingly beautiful story. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the this beautifully talented author wouldn’t want the perfect words. So here I go -

I don't really have a review this time. There's just too much that can be said, and not enough. The weight is immeasurable. However I will issue a warning. This book isn't for those not sound enough for emotional trauma. I hate to discourage anyone from reading a book no matter the content but this triggered an emotional breakdown that I wasn't prepared for. I don't say this lightly or in jest. It is with the seriousness of the grave that I tell you I broke. I am not ok. I was triggered complete ...more

Beautiful, heartbreaking and tragic story!

Hallie and Zeke’s whirlwind love story is raw, gritty, messy and very toxic. These two will break your heart over and over with all the emotional turmoil, the anger, pain and gut-wrenching grief.

Hallie and Zeke's relationship is not an easy one to read about as their demons are right at the surface of their skin waiting to break out to destroy them both. Their journey is filled with the day to day struggle to stay out of the darkness and to not give int

Oh Gosh, I don’t even know where to start...

I willing gave these two my heart and I just don’t know what to do anymore. I haven’t felt something so deep in such a long time. Zeke and Hallie bury themselves so deep in your heart that they will be with you long after you read “The End.”

As I lay in bed, with big puffy red eyes, I think of the beauty these two found in each other. Despite all the pain and heartache, these two felt things down to their very souls.

God, I don’t even know where to start with this book. I knew it was going to be dark and a hard read and I was not wrong. This book broke my heart and fixed it so many times I didn’t know which way was up!

This is a seriously tough story to read about drug addiction but the way it’s written with the dual POV and the way you feel what the characters are feeling is just everything. I can hand on heart say that I look at addiction completely differently after this book.

The characters.. god, Hallie w

I almost didn't read this book. I knew going in that Forever Ago deals with drug addiction and mental illness, and although I don't really have any triggers, I usually feel like I NEED a HEA and I was afraid that this would not be one. That's life though. It's a journey and it doesn't always end happily ever after. So, I braced myself and turned the page.

Hallie and Zeke's love story is heartbreaking. It's dark and often toxic, and it's filled with unimaginable grief. Although I almost always wan

My heart is broken but also full

J Rose is one of the most talented authors I've had the pleasure of reading. It might not always be happy, and full of sunshine but that's life. And that is what the book is ultimately about how to live when life isn't perfect and you just want to give up. Was this a hard book to read, yes but it's also so beautifully written that even in the most painful moments you can still feel hope and love. This book will forever have a special place in heart. Thank you J fo

Forever Ago is brutally raw, deeply emotive and painful at times but because it hurts it becomes so real... a person isn't the sum of their demons but their demons can be the sum if them.

J Rose explores grief, loss, depression, addiction and love so deeply that you are irrevocably changed and haunted by her words.

You don't dip your toes into the ocean of pain experienced by Hallie and Zeke, you are immersed in it with them. You live, breathe and battle alongside them. You feel their pain, anger

Every now and then you come across a tale which embeds itself into your soul and this is one of them

The way J. Rose tells a story is incredible, the way you made me live this story is beyond words. Honestly Ive felt every stab of pain right along Hallie and every moment of desperation with zeke.

This isn't an easy, pretty love story. It's raw, gritty and real and oh so beautiful because of that.

I'm a die hard dark romance lover, I don't cry easily. This story won't leave me for a long long time

GAH! This book.

This is a college romance & the storyline was amazing and executed so well! No words.

Hallie has lost both her parents and attends group grief counseling where Zeke shows up. Zeke is struggling with his brother’s death and hooked on drugs. Zeke & Hallie’s connection escalated quickly, but Hallie soon realized that Zeke won’t always put her first, at least not when getting high plays a factor. Zeke struggles with his addiction, and Hallie does everyth

I was not ready for this book. What an amazing and tragic love story!

Hallie is a young woman who experiences loss early in life and is struggling with grief. She meets a troubled Zeke during group therapy who shares similar loss. Their connection is blazing, instantaneous and undeniable. But it is not an easy road for them as Zeke struggles with guilt, depression, and an ever-increasing drug habit.

As he spirals into drug addiction, they go through their ups and downs, and back and forth. This is

Heart wrenching brilliance

I loved this book from the start to finish. Each page dripped with raw emotion, it was absolutely beautifully written and really showed the internal battles people have with themselves. The love the main characters have for one another really got me. Honestly if I could give this one hundred stars I would. It's a story that will stay with me for a while.

If you want a tragically beautiful, heartbreaking love story, this is it. Addiction is a difficult topic but this was done so well. Be prepared to break out the tissues.

My heart hurts after reading this. I’m writing this review with tears flowing. The story of Hallie and Zeke had so much angst, there was so much love and sadness. They meet at a bereavement group, and their story follows the ups and downs of their relationship. Battling through life, loss, and addiction; all while trying to live with heartache and loss. While there is a HEA, it isn’t your usual one. This book will take you through your emotions and leave you wrecked. So worth the read.

They are both lost and in a world of pain. Every day is unbearable.

Grief unites them but how can the greatest love story ever, start with such sadness?

I've never read anything by this author until this, so wasn't one hundred percent sure what to expect.

The subject matter appealed to me greatly. Death and sadness, loss and destructive behaviour but I must admit the repetition did begin to grate on me a little as the book went on.

I understand that it's a constant cycle but I needed something a

This book left me heartbroken but in a very wholesome way. This author takes a piece of your heart, but leaves something beautiful behind. In this case, it's a bittersweet addition.

I will always stand by addiction and substance abuse being hard to write, it's hard to capture the subject in all its destruction. The highs and the lows and also the grief of others...friends and family. J Rose successfully captured both parts, and both the highs and lows. It was an experience that felt realistic, a

With that being said, I still was not prepared for the ending!! I BAWLED my eyes out.
